I completely agree with you. It's important to have a positive attitude and not think that specific jobs are beneath us, such as working in fast food or as a janitor. All jobs are essential and need to be done. Thanks for sharing this great video with us.
This is the 'new' temp job. I was laid off a month after my wedding in July, 1991. I literally grabbed the yellow pages (MAJORLY dated myself with that one 😂) and 'let my fingers do the walking.' By Sept, I was signed on w 17 agencies and I was given top pay (back then I could command up wards of $12-15 which was great since NY minimum wage was still @ $4! (Talk about making those dollas holla😆). I took work pretty much anywhere the subway went and that didn't take too many transfers. From the basement of LaGuardia doing duty free inventory entry to HR dept of an international bank to hospitals to fancyshmancy medical offices. As long as I was working, I was happy. I ended up accepting a position directly under the asst VP of one of the major banks I'd temped for. Stayed there for two years then relocated south. When I got here, I just repeated my steps, but added taking about 27 civil service exams and picked the highest paying one. It still amazes me that people still look down on certain jobs but if people are out panhandling, some are quick to quip, "why don't you get a job!" Makes you wonder which is it if the job I get doesn't meet their standards, should I not work? 🤔 Ridiculous. Do you & keep it moving! 🚐☁️☁️
I truly enjoy watching your videos on a weekly basis. Please don’t stop and I love the fact that you tell us in detail about the jobs and your future continue to be the hard worker that you are and your goals are right there in front of you almost touching it. Thank you for your motivation. Keep up the great work.:.
Super interesting to see how a shift would be like as someone who isn’t a full-time worker at a location! Look forward to seeing more videos like these in the future!
I love your videos. Your resilience, creativity, thankfulness, and humility is inspiring. I'm not religious, but I enjoy how your strength of character shines through everything you do. You don't come off as preachy either. I hope you're able to achieve your goals and even more than you dreamed.
Thank you, Monique. You have such a good attitude! It shows that you have positive self esteem. You know your worth. You are an inspiration. Have a good day.
I love watching. Your so lovely and soothing. After a stressful day at work I come home and grab my coffee and watching your videos and I feel refreshed. Thankyou for sharing and making my days so much better 💕 lots of love from Australia 🇦🇺 💕
Hello Monique sweetie, so very good to see you😊. I apologize for my very late comment, I was so much under the weather but I am now feeling better and so thankful for that, so much so that I am just basking in the gift of life🙏🙌. Another very informative and helpful video, you are just a blessing to persons who will need this information ❤, yet, it is all so therapeutic watching you do what you do. It is so honest and real. I appreciate you for being so brave and helpful sharing this wealth of information that others like myself can appreciate and apply to our lives, especially your advice regarding being in the workplace whether part-time or full-time 👍. I admire how humble you always are. May all your dreams and goals come to fruition. Much blessings, guidance and love to you always. Keep safe and warm. See you tomorrow 🙏♥️♥️
Wow, what a wonderful example of the correlation between Gratitude and Attitude💯! Had a good long laugh also to discover that your nemesis is the box of unopened saran wrap.🤣
I've been thinking about switching to Instawork, too for a lot of similar reasons. It's good to keep in mind that the wage is more because the employer isn't paying your quarterly taxes. 1099 workers will pay 7% more in taxes than W-2 workers. Definitely a good rule of thumb to subtract about 15% of the hourly wage for taxes. However, not all instawork jobs are 1099 jobs. I've heard that many are W-2, which I find appealing since they would pay taxes for you. I appreciate your insight into the Instawork world in your recent content. Soo useful!
Hello! Hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend.😊 Thanks for providing insight into gig work like Upshift. I’d never heard of it. Definitely something I’m going to look more into.
Assulamualaykum sister. Please make a video about your experience fasting Ramadan while living in a van and how you pray the daily prayers in your van ect. I’m inspired by your videos as I’ve always wanted to do the can life temporarily while I finish my degree so I don’t have to pay for my dorm.
This is a great attitude. I work in the medical field, you often find the temp workers are actually far more lazy or selective about the work they do than the permanent staff. If I'm doing overtime I know I'm getting higher rates than permanent staff so I always take the jobs no one else wants to do. But a lot of the "professional tempers" seem to have completely the opposite attitude which I just find bizarre. Maybe because they know we're so short of staff they'll always get invited back anyway.
I didn’t know about those working platforms! I’m going to check them out for when I need extra money! I’m currently working towards paying debt! I’ve been watching you for a few months and just realized I hadn’t subscribed yet😮!!
Hi Monique... I grocery shop on Sundays too- in the afternoons.... That gig work looks exhausting, because you're on your feet the whole time. But you manage well. I hope I didn't offend you all those times that I said, "Jesus loves you." I remember when you shared with me that Muslims speak highly of Him. I think that's awesome! Well, may the road rise to meet you. ❤ 💯
Yea, my feet definitely hurt at the end of the day! Luckily I've worked in restaurants for so long now that I'm used to it. You don't offend me. After getting to know you through these comments, I've concluded that you're just someone who really loves your religion and I think that's beautiful. Especially in today's world, where religion is demonized and those of us who choose to follow religion are mocked. It's refreshing to see people who aren't afraid to show their love for their Lord! Yesterday, someone commented "Do you know JESUS your lord and savior?" That's all she wrote on my videos. Nothing relevant to the content, just that. I felt passive aggressive vibes from her, so I immediately blocked her. Those are the types of comments that offend me and I receive them a lot. I don't get those vibes from you. I really do appreciate your kindness and support ❤️.
Hi Monique 👋, Good Morning and Happy Sunday!!! Thanks for posting and for leading this video with words of wisdom… that was amazing and inspiring. I actually watched the entire video because I love seeing what it is people do throughout different jobs and work shifts. It’s always been something I found interesting. Anyhow, I hope you have a fabulous rest of your day and a fantastic upcoming week. Be safe out there, try to have fun, and stay positive. I look forward to your next video. 🖤
Wow. Never heard of. This I live in Pennsylvania. I don’t think we. Have that down. Here but we do have temp jobs. I worked a temp job once. When I was 20 after that I always had a full. Time. Job.
Hello you're such an inspiration to me young lady. You're videos are so real I'm preparing for retirement and see how much better and more free Iand happy I can and will be. Thank you for sharing stay safe.
Hello! I’m curious about your clothing. It looks so soft, comfortable and wrinkle free. May I ask what the fabric is or brand? I’m also interested in how you manage your water and sink in your van. It looks comfortable and cozy 🙂 Thank you for sharing your life with us 🙂
1000% right about gig jobs with van life. I pick up shifts with shiftsmart because I'm only willing work 4 hours a day and 2 hours forex trading and that works for me. Plus monthly dividends from 5 stocks help. Gotta have a plan. You have the right attitude much success
I haven't heard of shiftsmart. About to look into it now! Yea, having a plan is key. My plan is coming together and as long as I stick to it, soon, I won't need these gig apps anymore. I can't wait for that day.
I've worked most of the apps you've shared. And do Doordash/UberEats/Instacart around the US with no problem. How do you shift your Amazon Flex to your current location? I've only been able to do Amazon in my original location, not when I'm traveling
I haven’t tried to change locations, yet. I’m currently in the city where I signed up for Amazon Flex, that’s why I’m able to do it again. I’ve heard it’s possible to switch locations, but you can only do it once…maybe twice. I use the other apps when traveling.
See I have also done something like this. Where I was very good unfortunately the employees that worked there lied and said that I was horrible. Luckily another employee went and told the truth.
Do you have any trouble with leftover food smells in your van from cooking inside? BTW, thank you for showing this stuff - I have a friend who needs work and also wants to cook, so I told her about these apps. Upshift isn't in NYC now, but it looks like Instashift is.
No, I don't have any issues with it. I light my candle daily and light an incense from time to time and they help with the smell. I'm so happy you were able to tell your friend about the apps! I hope they help.
Insight into the world of insta work. Seems like an ok trade off for the freedom of van life. I hope the $$ is enough & ok for you. Must be nice to just move on & not get stuck with those “people” we all run into

I've never considered it, but will look into it. I never knew you didn't need a degree to get these types of jobs. I'm sure they're entry level, but still, not bad if I get to continue my lifestyle! Thank you 😊.
I haven't tried to do that, yet, with Instawork,, but I've spoken to other instaworkers who said the process was not complicated. With Upshift, I just looked at the map in the app and would see jobs in other states to sign up for. Upshift isn't in as many states as Instawork.

Sawubona, sis! 🙋🏾♀️Thank you for sharing the flow of your day. I really appreciated your words and definitely needed to hear them. That humility piece was 🤌🏾 🫸🏾✨️🫷🏾. And just ya whole attitude about yourself and your experience as a human. This is a step I'm willing to take towards realizing my success. Yes, yes, yes. 🎉❤ I swear you give me hope and empower me to live by example. Hiiii 👋🏾. Okay, gotta go work this Upshift shift. Byyyyeee 👋🏾. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!
Absolutely good job 👍 you have discipline.Congratulations .
Have an awesome Sunday. Thanks for the video
Your coolness, calmness and collectedness is contagious. I feel grounded when I watch your vids.
That makes me so happy to know. Thank you for sharing.
She always makes me feel calm. Centered and content. My mom and I are going to try couple of recipes she did. In couple of weeks.
I completely agree with you. It's important to have a positive attitude and not think that specific jobs are beneath us, such as working in fast food or as a janitor. All jobs are essential and need to be done. Thanks for sharing this great video with us.
Exactly!
This is the 'new' temp job.
I was laid off a month after my wedding in July, 1991.
I literally grabbed the yellow pages (MAJORLY dated myself with that one 😂) and 'let my fingers do the walking.'
I'd take as many long temp assignments as possible and the week I knew it was ending, I'd sign on w another agency.
By Sept, I was signed on w 17 agencies and I was given top pay (back then I could command up wards of $12-15 which was great since NY minimum wage was still @ $4!
🤔
Ridiculous.
Do you & keep it moving!

That was super professional to just do what you can, ask for support, let the managers handle the technical stuff. Super scary about the gas line!
Yea, that was really scary. I didn't understand why she was so nonchalant about it!
You are such an inspiration and humility, kindness and respect. As-salamu alaykum sister, sending respect and admiration from the UK.🇬🇧🌹

With Upshift, we are given W2's, so taxes is always taken out!! With Instawork, I only take W2 jobs.

Can you do a video on how to handle car/van breakdowns/repairs? ❤
My van is brand new, so luckily, I haven't had that issue. When I do, I'll definitely document it and share with you all.
With instawork and upshift, do you get paid immediately??
Yes, they both have options to be paid immediately, otherwise you are paid weekly.
Thx for your videos. I used insta work last week to work @ hotel, Supervisor cancelled me. I was paid because the supervisor cancelled.
I love that we still get paid for cancelled shifts!!
You are awesome!

Great video! How did you make your peanut butter banana smoothie? It's my favorite smoothie, but never made it at home.
Yes how did u make it. Please post.
They do a deep clean and leave whomever is coming in to figure it out. Where was the other person that was supposed to be with you???? You did great.
Yes yes yes. You stocked for the next person
@25Sweetchocolate Thank you! I just put a couple of frozen bananas in the blender with a couple of spoonfuls of peanut butter (or PB2), vanilla powder or vanilla extract, and water or plant milk. It just depends on what I have. I don't measure anything, so I can't provide measurements.
@Dgervelis1 I felt the same way! Why would they put me there by myself when nothing was prepared?!! I'm grateful the day went smoothly once everything was fixed.
What brand skillet are you using? It looks nice.
It's a carbon steel pan. I think it's the OXO Obsidian Pre-Seasoned pan on amazon.
