Great habits to incorporate into my life. I’m almost done with my whole house downsize and organize. I’ve made several decluttering passes and realize that it’s an ongoing process. Next is deep clean and then starting the daily habits like making the bed. Having a clean, organized, minimal house is calming and restful.
Great tips ! the one I’m working on now is maintaining clean flat surfaces . I have found instead of trying to do all at one time I will focus on one specific flat surface and after conquering that add another until a daily habit is formed.
So many great advices. You are my inspiration.🎉 To appreciate and to be content and thankfull is so important. If you are happy with what you have, everything else is just a bonus. ❤ Martina from Sweden
You shared some really good tips I thank you. I think I fall into having my counters empty and so used to having stuff on them almost putting me into a panic. I'm working on getting rid of stuff and hope that my family members will join in just to give us more space in our home and less to maintain. I also want to say hello I live just a little bit north of the Twin Cities. I think your home is so beautiful I am actually praying and have been for the last several years for God to show me the next address. One habit that I've always done is when my laundry comes out of the dryer I fold it and I put it away and then it's done I don't have to think about it it's not sitting around to do it later. It is a completed job after each load I've done that when I was a stay-at-home mom and even when I worked. Also I do laundry every day if not every other day that way it doesn't build up if we have to be gone a day or something I had a family of four children and the daycare for many years and my house was just busy as a place that everybody came and I was never overwhelmed with laundry. I also for my laundry is in my basement so I have three hampers whites darks and towels. So by putting laundry in this way in many ways it was already sorted as my children grew up I know a lot of people will have their kids do their own laundry and my kids at times did and some of my family member might do now. But as a whole I just stick it all together because I think y run the machine for part of a load if I did grab it all get it all done it's done and then everybody has their stuff ready. Also we do not have a dishwasher and so majority of the functions we had until the last couple years I have always used real dishes. And so I would do the dishes as we would cook and then that way when we were done eating the only dishes I had to do was the one that we ate on. I am really trying to go through to be able to have my surface is not get full of clutter our Drop Zone happens to be my breakfast bar that is the hardest pot to keep cleared off
Awesome that you have found a useful set of habits that work for you and your home! I’m sure you will really appreciate having your breakfast bar clear once that new habit is established as well :)
I knew you were a woman of God when I seen your quiet time book. 👍 Im glad I found your channel. I think we are on the same page. I have accumulated so much clutter in the past 10 years that its rediculous. But I have also been through so much loss. So I think I was filling a void. But Im definitely ready to start my decluttering journey. Thank you.
Paper trails are a challenge in my life here and now. Thank you for the idea of making my bed clearing the tops of flat surfaces. They are present comfort I am alive and well.
As a Total minimal/simple living newby. I have a quistion where or how do you "keep" the items you put up for sale and for how long? I do not want to just trough away but i notice these "half way" items give me a clutterd feeling..
When we were first staring out we had a closet where we kept those types of things - too nice to give away but didn’t want to keep - I would list a few at a time and once they were out of the house I would lose a few more. We have gotten to the point now where we donate almost everything, and I just keep a box in my closet that I bring to the thrift store every couple of weeks or whenever it gets filled up
Do you have a simple habit that I didn't include on this list? Tell me about it!

A simplified house is SO worth the effort! I’ll be cheering you on!

Great list, not just for minimalists!

That’s wonderful! Recognition is an important first step. Many blessings on your journey! ❤️
Minimalism is very zen. Monks live by trying to own the least amount of things necessary, that happiness is having less.
I would say most everyone, even when being mindful of how much they have, keeps ‘excess’ as a level of comfort. Monks are fascinating to me as well

Minimalist palate 👍🏼
More water made a noticeable difference in my skin.
I agree!!! Such a simple thing we can do for our health!
Me 10/ 10 💪
Don't put things down, put them away. (I have a hard time with this.)
It definitely takes some practice! ❤️
