I think the point you made at the end of the video about adjusting the pose to better suit a gesture is very important. We're not copy machines, and sometimes the reason we struggle drawing a pose is because the pose is boring, and there's no point struggling against it, because more likely than not, when you're applying this knowledge, you're not going to be wanting a boring finished piece either.
Video Title suggestion: "Drawing Hands with the Bread Slice technique" Having the words 'Drawing' & 'Hands' first in the title will help catch the attention of people you're targeting quicker in my opinion. Excellent video! Thank you for posting it.
In over 10 years of studying art and drawing, this might be the simplest yet most comprehensive explanation for how to draw hands I’ve ever seen. Thank you Kenzo!
An excellent breakdown on hands. Sure, the bread connection made for a cool attention-grabbing title and opening, but this was much more than just that. For such an essential part of drawing figures, hands are incredibly complex, and I appreciate the effort you putting into making each element of the hand easier to grasp and even explaining how to address some of the more troublesome areas, like the padding in the front of the fingers. And as is always the case with a LLD video, you managed to bring it all back to simplification in the end. I'd been looking forward to the day you would do a breakdown of the hand, and this one certainly did not disappoint. Thanks again for your often amazing contributions.
the slice of bread…the egg…the chopped off fingers that are not sausage shapes..the ITT (the identifiable thumb tip)…all these nuggets (!) help us , the learner, get closer to understanding the forms in the hand. thank you Kenzo for untangling it all.
An excellent breakdown for hands, I LOVE the bread idea, that's so clever! Great work detailing the anatomy and the gesture, as usual Kenzo. Your illustration and video skills are top notch.
Omg. I didn’t know how to draw hands and now I do, I can’t thank you enough for this amazing tutorial!! Thank you so much for explaining so thoroughly and for having picture examples!! Subscribed ❤
Another great tutorial! I like the idea of thinking like a sculptor; it takes some of stress out of trying to draw it properly right away. This way it’s more like drawing it in stages, from simple to more refined.
Kenzo, this video made so much sense, and made it even more logical and sensible, thank you, because the shadow portion really gave me problems. This will definitely change my figure drawing. Thank you, MSG Leum
I’m an art teacher and sooooo wish you would consider a non-subscription course. A drawing and anatomy course along with visuals like the hand photos with drawn lines around and short videos. I absolutely love your videos and wish I could translate them to my students with teaching resources.
im just starting out learning to draw, but for some reason i really want to tackle hands first and try and get good at them. they seem so complicated, and i feel like if i can do them i can do anything. great video as always :)
Me encantan tus vídeos he aprendido mucho gracias a tu canal y aunque yo no soy de dibujar gesture si he lo he practicado y me ha sido de mucha utilidad, explicas bien y espero sigas haciendo vídeos, saludos
I keep taking my headphones off to try and figure out where the music is coming from. Planes and more planes, very well explained when combined with boxing/simplification.
Drawing can be sculpting with a pencil (tubby people often have "sausage hands" but I know what you mean, the biggest problem I find with hands, is the angles the fingers/digits bend at, shape can't help there I try to go by how much gapping there is between the fingers.
May I ask what kind of charcoal pencil, eraser and sketch book/paper type you're using in this video? Like which grades and brand? Love the video, thanks a lot!
