    I am so happy to have found your video. You were the first woman on here using your natural nails with no tips.

    I've tried this a few times. A few tips/suggestions ... using an old (clean) makeup brush instead of that little black sponge, I found to be easier and leaves surface smoother so less filing needed. #2: wiping the brush off EVERY time is crucial to keep it from getting stiff, but the kit comes with 2 extra brushes, just in case. #3: Check out grocery stores, they frequently put nail products and makeup on sale with big markdowns. I got my last kit at Kroger for $6.99, and a separate color dip for $2.99 which is just crazy! (By comparison, walmart was $12.99/$6.99 for EXACT same thing) and last but not least, #4: you can customize the dip color by crushing up pressed powder or loose pigment of eyeshadow, highlighter, bronzer etc. Pretty much anything powder. Mix it with a half white/ half clear powder for opaque, or just clear for the see thru jelly looking colors. Sorry so long, hopefully this will help someone. 😀 good luck! I ❤ diy dip nails!

      Ahh I remember one more thing, lol. If your brushes get stuck and are hard to remove/unscrew from the bottle, put a tiny bit of petroleum jelly around the threads and neck before you close it. This trick works great for any screw on top. Nail polish, super glue, etc.

    I paid $12 for my kit at Walmart. I just did my nails the other night and watched your review tonight. I usually get powder dip at a salon, and this dip kit is practically salon quality! I love it! Extra powder colors are about $6 at Walmart.

      Becca Layton do you know how to remove the acrylic dip when it grows out? I’m not a professional so I don’t have a drill file

    • @beccalhlayton
      @beccalhlayton 5 лет назад +5

      Amanda Dawn Wollsch I use 100% acetone. First, file the top of your nails so they aren’t shiny anymore. Then soak your nails in a GLASS bowl with acetone. Acetone will “eat” and ruin about anything but glass. About every 3-4 min, take them out and wipe them with a paper towel. They’ll be slimy and gross, but it’s the best way to do it. I use a really course nail file and file the tops of the nails again. The powder polish kind of “rolls” off. Then put them back in the acetone and repeat until the powder is all soaked off. It’s a long process at home without a drill for sure. It takes me maybe 30min to get it all off.

    • @beccalhlayton
      @beccalhlayton 5 лет назад

      Amanda Dawn Wollsch when I redo my nails (I’ve only done it three times now), I take the old color completely off with the method I just said. I couldn’t tell you how to go about doing a “fill” with the same color at home 🙃

    Hello Emily!
    I got my kit at Ulta to try, because I love self-done gel or other nail kits/sets. I believe I bought the same set as you with the light liason pink. The process was easy, and you step by step video helped me through it all. It feels good so far, but my final color was super pale. But other than thay, thanks for helping my walk through my first dip kit! Have a wonderful day! 💅🤩

    I love that it's easy to use and you don't need a lot of talent in sculpting etc to do a pretty good job. If you can paint your nails you can do this! Also it doesn't stink up my entire house with acetone which odor seem to linger around for a while ugh~ Anyway, love this!! Recommended👍💓

    Si, so beautiful! Use a medium sized makeup brush to dust off the dip powder instead of the sponge You can purchase a very inexpensive brush from a company like Elf so you don't ruin your best makeup brushes .I would think that would be better. They always use a brush at the spa or the nail salon. Thanks so much for the review and tutorial.

    I have used 3 different dip systems and I will say the Kiss top coat is THEE BEST! Way better than the professional stuff I tried LDS and SNS. So I'll get the professional powders but im always sticking with Kiss top coat. The whole Kiss system is pretty decent for it to be store brand. They come with extra brushes too which is amazing because they will harden. I wasted a lot of money trying to perfect the top coat. Stick with this.

    How do you remove the acrylic from your nail

    • @EmilyFreybler
      @EmilyFreybler  5 лет назад +2

      Buff the shine off the nail. Use acetone to soak cotton balls, place them on the nail and then wrap in foil. Leave on for 10-15 minutes

    What’s the brush softener for ?

    • @alaynagrace8843
      @alaynagrace8843 5 лет назад +2

      If you aren't careful to wipe off the brush everyrime you reapply the brush will harden. The brush softener helps disolve the residue in the brush

    Girl...those eyebrows!!! Do you have a tutorial on how you do those? They're perfect! You are very pretty, I like how your makeup is so pretty in a natural way. Hope this doesn't read as creepy, lol. Sometimes too many compliments seem weird. (Edited for typo)

      Using an old (clean) makeup brush is easier than that little sponge. IMO. It makes smoother.

      As long as it is acrylic based you should probably be ok. Although, I haven’t used the kit yet. Take my logic as a grain of salt. 🙃

    I've been wanting to try dip powder. How did it hold up? Did it affect your nail beds after removal? I have wondered if it makes them weak like Acrylic.

    • @EmilyFreybler
      @EmilyFreybler  6 лет назад +1

      It holds up for about two weeks! Definitely doesn't damage them if removed properly

    So it'll be two weeks tomorrow?? How did they last?

    • @EmilyFreybler
      @EmilyFreybler  6 лет назад +6

      I actually had to redo them after a week because they were chipping :( I did them again about a week and a half ago and they are so much better! I ended up doing the dip process 3 times instead of two and that seemed to make them stronger. I also focused the top coat more on the ends to cap off the nail. I still have a few chips, but nothing as bad as before. I think the main thing is keeping the ends strong like the rest of the nail with the top coat.
