What a game! Very enjoyable! JT, I agree with Nick. You have found your army. Welcome back to the WAAAGH!, brother! PS: As an old ork player myself, I am so happy to see metallic models.
I played Orks about 20 years ago. For some reason I fell in love with using Warbuggies. I don't know why exactly. But I love seeing more Ork battles despite not having played in so long. So fun to see.. It makes me consider, after looking at the current army lists, making a vehicle heavy ork army because I love all the new vehicles.
Sadly the buggies and the Kult of speed detachment are just...kinda bad...they're overcosted in points and don't really do much damage but if you want to build a list that's 'for fun' you go for it, just be prepared to be disappointed...

I love Nick’s Guard army. It looks like the kind of army the Imperium would actually field: Guardsmen leading the charge, tanks providing fire from the back, and some specialized units of Battle Sisters and Space Marines as elite support in the middle. All he’s missing is an Imperial Knight. Kind of a shame how poorly it performed on the tabletop, but what can you do when your opponent refuses to fail any important saves?
You guys are making me nostalgic for my guardsmen! Been a good while since I fielded my Feudal Guardsmen, maybe someday I'll be able to find time to play them again Also, now I want JT to get a warboss mini with a squig hat
I should have my 2nd edition battlewagon in my mother's loft, you could only order it direct from their mail order service. Back when the rules for it were pretty fun where it could transport as many minis as you could fit and balance on it but if any fell off as you moved it they'd take damage depending on how fast it was going. Great fun and very orky.
Oh is that the Armorcast Battlewagon, the Resin kit? (orks didn't get a plastic Battlewagon model until 3rd edition IIRC) Edit: I was mistaken, they DID get a plastic mail order only battlewagon...huh I did not know that!
@@garethholman1050 It's kind of interesting because there's both the RTB plastic one that you had AND the later produced resin one by Armorcast that are the exact same vehicle as far as I can tell.
Was interesting that wax talking with a friend the other day about how, of the available ally options, only the assassins and the Deathwatch offer anything of any merit to the Guard. Like sisters are cool but expensive points wise and Catachan squads can be crammed with Flamers and put into a heavy flamer Chimera for a fraction of the cost to sisters and an Immolator.
@@awsomepokemon1060 And they don't benefit from the Born Soldiers detachment rule. As I said, a 10 man Catachan Squad with 2 flamers, mounted in a Chimera with a heavy flamer gets scout and with flamer weapons you're not getting Lethal Hits anyway so they're just as good as Sisters flamers plus any other weapons *will* get Lethal Hits...and Sisters + Immolater is nearly the cost of 2 10 man squads and 2 Chimeras (230 points vs 260 points for the 20 Guard and 2 Chimeras). Unless you're literally taking them for the combined arms cool factor (which, to be fair, Nick is doing here, they very rarely ever use lists that are remotely competitive because that probably wouldn't be as fun viewing so expecting them to have those types of lists would be folly) there is literally zero reason to take Sisters.
11:46 units with 7+ models have a rule that says that every model has to be to be within 2" of TWO other models, so you cant just make a long line out of 20 termagants and secure 2 objectives. if you cant have every model within 2" of 2 other models you lose unit coherency and all except 6 models die

Yeah its not explicitly stated but the reason it works is because if you make it a line and cap it with triangles then it puts all the models within 2" of all others because the ones in the line are 2" from the model on each side
@@zapp3l Every model in a line except the ends has 2 models within 2'' . On the ends, you make a triangle of 2'' to make sure it is true for all models. So it works. However, it also means the second you need to remove models you are going to lose a hefty chuck of your unit as there is no way to remove one without then breaking coherency. At which point you essentially decide where to remove models from until the unit is down to 7 (of course you could repeat the triangle part halfway through the chain, or at 2 parts in the chain, and shrink the length of your line for better resilience). However, with chaff units, where you can expect an enemy to blow up roughly 10-ish models anyway, the long chain can be a really annoying block, and since you decide what models to remove once it collapses, it might put them out of a firing line of other units afterwards.
