Loved your video, just watched it! I started restoring some controllers and the issue I have is hard to describe.. Basically, after cleaning all the gunk that I can (I don’t let them soak like you do), it seems like the shells don’t fit in as nicely as before (when it was dirtier). Would it be because the plastic is deformed over time? That opening it allows the plastic to change shapes?
Does this ever happen to you after cleaning certain controllers? I noticed that the feel where I put my fingers (mostly the right stick) feels different (top and bottom aren’t aligned as nicely, so I feel the rough edge with my fingers).
I also noticed that you had a certain order of screwing the screws, does that help?
Thank you very much for helping me out!! Love this kind of work!

So the most common issue why this may be happening is due to the Z button and its cord when reassembling it. It definitely causes the fitting to be awkward if not put perfectly in place. I cant say I've had issues with soaking before, but in the case that you do, perhaps the water is too hot? I cant really think of why it would happen to be honest. Hopefully this may help out, and in regards to the screw order, I just put them random to be honest haha. Hope this helps! 😅

@@totalfix877 It helps a lot, thanks! I’ve done 4 controllers since my comment and I can now say that soaking is a much better technique and that the feel is the same as before washing them, it may have just been because I didn’t remember the feel of them from before. I will make sure to watch out for the Z cord and ahah I wasn’t sure about the screws, so thanks for confirming!
