The band actually responded to college kids that were offended when the first came out they were aware of the controversy and were annoyed the fans didn’t understand the lyrics

I think that was the problem then which is why I believe it would be even more amplified today, even though you can justify the meaning behind the lyrics most people wouldn't understand or wouldn't want to understand.
