I (32) grew up poor, and all of the music in the house were my parent's cassettes and cds. My early childhood was shaped by 70s and 80s rock bands, early Whitney Houston, old country, and doo wop. The songs i played on repeat then are still so important to me now, a part of the soundtrack of my life. I wont have anyone tell me that "You dont really understand" or "youre not a real fan" because i wasnt alive when the song was recorded. What on earth?? Music can touch a person's life at anytime, especially now with it being so accessible!
As teens in the 80's, my friends and i would frequently put aside our Cult, REM and Beastie Boys albums and dive into the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Who and ACDC records...no one seemed to mind (least of all the record companies). Embrace what catches your ear and investigate the artists/albums that you're curious about...and don't let anyone try to steer you away. 🎶
Most historians talking about the biggest moments didn’t live it they’ve researched it which is okay. It doesn’t mean they’re not educated on the subject
I’m all for younger people going back and learning about the music before their time. I’ve always had a problem with people that are younger today not respecting the music that came before them more times than not. It angers me when I see young people giving artist from before their time so much disrespect. Now I do agree there are some aspects like, how did that music affect its time? That’s something you kind of. Can’t speak on just because you weren’t there to experience it. Like when I got into metal and hip-hop at the age, I did. I was always one of the younger people in the crowd I was around I mean by like a decade or older and they told me about the importance of why artist like Black Sabbath and N.W.A were important. Not that NWA was that much before my time I got into music really right as they were breaking up. But it was drilled into me that the music I like today I need to respect the roots in which it came from. But I don’t think that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about anything before our time. I can listen to Black Sabbath records and break them down and give them my opinion and I can give a brief history of the band, but I think if I were to try to say how people were feeling about black sabbath in the 70s I’m not the right person to say that because I wasn’t there. But in no way do I think we should be telling young people to just leave older music alone? I think future music would be better if more young people got into it. My era is Metallica, Ice Cube, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N Roses, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Pantera, Alice In Chains , White Zombie, Wu Tang, 2pac, RATM, etc. I know how those artist affected music at the time and how their music affected the rest of the world. I can speak on that, but I respect the past before that though, but maybe I’m not the one to really say how it affected people and I have seen certain videos where people are giving a history of a certain artist and that’s fine but then I’ve seen them get some things so wrong that history can’t tell you you just have to have lived it.
@X9523-z3v Listen, I've read some pretty blunt comments from people talking about how myself or younger generations should not be talking about music before their time, that will always happen, maybe not from you or myself but those people are definitely out there. Either way thanks for the comment 👍 also thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏 🤙
when nevermid , or use your illusion and the black album came out , i was 16-17 and living in small town in italy and did not know English ,at the time , but i still like it and was the soundtrack of my youth ,

I am in my 60s and saw many of the groups you talked about in the 70s 80S and 90s, and it was great....but I still love new music from young contemporary artists who are now in their prime like Kingfish, Shakey Graves, and Samantha Fish to name just a few who make great music and really kill it in concert.

No one is shaming people for liking music from before their time. And the title screen should read "you're too you". At least you got the "too"

A Thought - Seems there was this double & triple dippers, double being in 20's, triple 30's but still thinking your living your teens.
You're really old enough to understand the difference between common English homophones.
You ÷ Are = You're
You wanna piss off a bunch of hard core Metal heads just saying , poisons don't need nothing but a good time works advertised
