J Meyer - I keep thinking the same thing. Even through an amateur capture, you can hear the acoustics rolling around the rocks. When the drums stop before the final recitation, it really takes awhile for the echoes to settle.

I 've never been there but when I saw it first I felt a spiritual connection with those people, place and environment; a strange feeling like I've been there in my dreams or dèja vue.

Best. Hike. Ever.
I've done that here, tough the Island is Small so wont take too long, but its very beautiful
If the human soul and mother earth could sing together, it would sound like this
Aurora's voice has truly been blessed by Freyja. So hauntingly beautiful
Today marks the 40th day after the death of my sister from ovarian cancer. Our parents were born in Finland and immigrated here to America, where my sister and I were born. I've read that among the ancient Finns there was a belief that the spirit of the departed wandered the earth for around 6 weeks or 40 days before journeying across the icy black river to Tuonela (or Manala), the land of the dead. I did a ceremony out in my yard tonight to help my sister to make that journey. This song was playing in my mind as I did this.
May your sister rest in power, I believe her journey was safe and she is happy and at peace. The legacy of your parents and ancestors lives on through both of you 🙏🏼
Did I tell you brother that your sister was never lost to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. There are many things you will learn shalom your sister has been safe for a while now. She has no pain no suffering.
5 years ago this woke something very ancestral and ancient inside of me and I’ve never been the same since . Five years later it still stirs my soul .
Exactly the same with me I listen sometimes and it breaks me I’m not afraid to admit I cry my eyes out I have no idea why but like you it’s like it’s part of me that’s been missing, hard to explain to be honest , maybe it’s from my mothers side she said our ancestors were Norse her maiden name is THORnton so maybe .
Because the sounds in music speaks directly to your heart and soul.

Nothing brings tears to my eyes faster than old world stuff like this and Heilung. It's like my spirit hears it way more than my ears.
Not just the people, but also the spirits of the land and the waters must have so enjoyed this. We should all sing to the lands, the skies, the waters the Goddess and the Gods at every opportunity.
Wardruna deserves 100% of your attention. Put that cameras byside and enjoy ffs😮💨
Aurora never fails to make me feel wonderful about earth’s natural creations
How incredibly lucky these people are to witness such an amazing performance in such a beautiful place. I'm sure that mountain made the music even more spectacular. Chills everywhere.

Even if it isn't my culture, I can almost feel my ancesters calling.
Me too...❤
I did a DNA test last year, 74% British and Irish, 24% eastern European, and around 2% from the kinds of places this comes from, it's only a little bit but I've always felt it's there when I hear this kind of thing.
I have no Nordic ancestry that I’m aware of, but for some reason I’m so drawn this music. It’s so hauntingly beautiful. And there’s something powerful about it that I can’t describe.
This goes beyond your ancestry, whether your Nordic,British,Native American or whatever,it goes right down into your DNA,it fuels that part that the modern world causes us to forget, that part that connects us all,it's part of all of us,it's the connection to our ancestors
the haunting power comes from our folk music often being in the minor key instead of the major. gives it a sad vibe.
@@andruid5054 Well said my friend.
When you die in a battle, you will go to Valhalla.
Same I'm black and I feel so connected to it
His voice is the voice of the gods. Whatever it is called, Odin, Zeus, Yahweh, Jupiter, Brahma ... a man has a frightening voice. The singer takes me to the past, almost to see those ancient battles of gods and people. Souls drowned in the sea of blood. They sing in such a way about something that most superficial people do not see, do not see and feel. People do not feel nature today. That is why such songs have a larger dimension.
That's Einar Selvik for you.
This is evidence that music is a spiritual thing.
really... who wake up one morning and say "you know what, lets put together the most ancient like voice (einar) with the most fairy like voice (Aurora) and make them sing with another ancients souls.... and you know what, make it in a fking cave".... because the person that bring this idea must be an ancient god in disguise
Aye, the God of poetry and music; BRAGI
If i was hiking on the other side of that hill and heard that, i'd think something glitched and i can now hear the soundtrack/score of my own movie and im about to die
I laughed entirely too hard at this comment because I know it to be true.
My grandfather always held steadfast to his Norwegian roots and made sure to tell me my family’s history, as such, I’ve always been proud of where I come from. He died this morning, so I played this to send him off in a way I know he’d appreciate and love.
Condolences, brother. I'm sure your father, and all your ancestors, loved it.
Sorry for your loss friend
Our deepest condolences
I cant believe those rude people in the front having a conversation during the performance. Maybe they should have stayed home to have their important discussion. Wardruna, Aurora and Oslo Fagottkor was powerful.
I agree. Astonishing self centredness.
It's just a conversation. Lol. Reminds me on the other week when a guy talked to me about how great the current singer was, in a pub, and a woman interrupted him saying he should be quiet and not disrespectful. He was perplexed. An hour later, he went on stage as the main gig. Always good not to be so judgmental.
@@njux1871 It is ALWAYS better to be considerate of others. People come to hear the entertainer and at times pay money to hear them not the spectators, You can always discuss your very important thoughts later after the show.
Now this is what I call old time religion and its good enough for me
They knocked at the door of valhalla with there amazing voices🥺

Those people talking should be ashamed.
I don't understand them either. How can you talk while this amazing performance?!?!?
The old gods aren’t dead.
They’re training their warriors.
Einar Selvik and Aurora singing together is a magic, if there ever was.
this is an ancient Norse song of "singing" those who die over to the other side ( Hel, which was positive, not the Christian Hell and its place for the damned)........Helvegen is the road to Hel .......the song reminds us everything dies and that even after dying, one's reputation and life should be honored and remembered......the male singer is Einar Selvik of Wardruna.........
It’s beautiful hearing your voices. This is the song that played as I watched my Grandfathers body lowered into the earth. A song to honor warriors, honored a true warrior that dark day
Ok if this will not play on my funeral I will not come
Aurora and Linda suits Wardruna very, very well. The nordic high-pitch female singing is extraordinarily beautiful. Mesmerizing.
Hail Odin, hail Freya, hail to all the gods that were present on that day! I wish to be there one day ! :)
Voices are amazing. Wish people would just sit still and listen !! Just closed my eyes and let the song wash over me, peaceful and calming x well done
No matter how beautiful the music is, there's always some people who will talk through it. :(
They are just rude and disrespectful.
@Mark O no, its fucking disrespectful
This is a once in the lifetime performance marred by talking idiots..
I literally mean mugged my computer in disgust. When they had the audacity to speak during this performance.
Unless this was like the 20th take they made, there is no way it is ok to TALK during this performance
It's very offending, both to us who has paid LOTS of money to travel to thos place 33 nautichal miles west of the mainland + consert fee. Than its outmost disrespectful offence to all the musicians. They give their BEST, have trained for this in weeks and years. This is a HUGE problem in many conserts, they should have guarded people away when doing this....
@@KarinGullhav in Vienna when I go to classical concerts, no one would dare to talk during the performance. There are even artists that would stop and wait staring at the person talking, patiently waiting for them to finish (which of course draws all the attention to the one talking and is very embarrassing for them) 🙂
