I love how it’s such a feel good movie for the queer community. It doesn’t have to be all tragedy all the time. We deserve our love stories who end up happy too!!!
right? the book got criticism that it's not realistic... but can't we just for once have something where the ideal world exists? do we always have to be reminded how shitty it really is?
In terms of British royalty, the title goes to the first born son. In olden days, it was vital to have an understood succession of power so the kingdom was happy as soon as a new king produced one son and at least a second one, in case the first one died (child mortality was so high). So there became the saying "an heir and a spare."
Except in this book (and film) the "heir" is Henry's mother.... Of course with the replacement of the Queen (in the book) with a King in the movie, perhaps this version only men can inherit, even if their right to inherit can come through their mother.... ????
@@anthonywatts2033 The heir just refers to the person next in line directly for the thrown. So there can be more than one but it traditionally refers to the person directly next in line. IRL, Charles was the heir while Queen Elizabeth was still alive. He was HER heir. But William was also the heir because he was directly in line behind Charles making him HIS heir. So in relation to the movie, Henry's mother is the heir to her father while Henry's brother is the heir to the mother.
Taylor Zakhar Perez (aka Alex's actor) is of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Mexican descent. And Alex in the book is also of Mexican descent, from his father.
Mary Tudor was very much trapped in a tower for most of her life just because she was the daughter of the first divorced queen LMAO. And people wonder why she grew up to be so full of rage lol
@@valentinafangirlingI mean Mary Queen of Scots did also spend a large portion of her life in captivity at the hands of Elizabeth 1st, Mary Tudor's little sister 😅

I love this movie!!! I have watched it 4 times in 1 day and I cannot stop. The book and the movie are great. The chemistry between Nick and Taylor is off the charts!!! I laughed, I cried. Everytime I watch it I see more details and nuances that I missed. The love making scene was perfection!!! Never seen anything like that before. ❤️ I have now seen it 11 times! It just gets better and better!!! ❤❤❤
I was surprised how much I loved “R, W & R B. Great chemistry with the two leads, I give them a lot of credit for making those roles believable and giving them a really physical connection. Loved your reactions and your positivity.
I feel like reading the book after seeing the movie is usually a good idea, and it seems to be true in this case. I’ve got it, and I’m looking forward to it, since most of the people I have heard from liked the book even better than the movie.
Yes! Because that’s how I was with Twilight. I watch them all and then read them and it’s like a treat because you get so much more! So I’m excited to read it lol
Agree, I finished reading the book after the movie and it made me appreciate the movie even more, as even after making some changes it ended up being a well made adaptation. The book is, indeed, great, and I loved both.
7:13 Actually in the book there is a line there where it was said that Henry need to produce heirs and Alex said "We could still do that" and in a QnA the author of the book stated that they planned to have a child in their 30s!
reading the book after watchign the movie is SO GOOD. I did it and it was like watching "extra scenes" or "deleted footage" and i couldnt be happier heheheh. I gotta admit tho, the first 50 pages were a bit tough for me like... mmm i didnt connect a LOT but then i got it, so amazing
In 2016, Hillary Clinton did receive more votes total than trump. It is only the peculiar system we have, the electoral college, that made trump president. And in this movie's alternate universe, Uma Thurman is elected in 2016 AND does become president.
Woww I didn’t know it was looked at like an alternative universe! That’s dope! And yes I remember Hilary winning the popular vote and losing the electorals smh
I think this is a great adaptation, but of course the book is so so much better in my eyes. It's my comfort book. It also gives so much more depth on Alex' character and his ambitions which were like left out of the movie due to time
For this one I broke my own rule about always reading the book first. So… I failed! I watched the movie (a TON of times). Now, on page 22 of the book. I’m sure it will be great🏳️🌈You have built such a great community here.
I would absolutely never data a prince, nor anyone famous. I couldn't possibly imagine anything worse than being scrutinised and having everyone feel entitled to have an opinion about everything I did, said, wore, and my personal relationship with my partner 😱
Now THATS true. I would be mortified with that realization but I feel that there’s some amazinggggg famous people and royals. So I would definitely give it to 😂
The Paris scene is SO sensuous!! Henry's hand pushes down on Alex's back, urging him in. Then, when he's fully in, Henry exhales and raises his eyebrows and nods his head, all good! After they finish the camera pans back and shows TWO condom wrappers to the left of the bed and lube on the right nightstand- 16:50!
I'm so glad the RUclips algorithm recommended me this review. ALSO I love that you also saw the connection between Queen Charlotte and the scene where Alex confronts Henry.
I absolutely love this book and I think they did a fantastic job making just a simple adaptation of it.❤ They put most of the major details but they also did leave out major storylines. But I felt like the story was just supposed to be fun.😊
What you said at the end of this video really moved me, and I'm nearing 40. I'm glad you're giving the book another shot because it's amazing. It's better than the film.

I recommend you to read the book. For me personally it was better. The little moments they shared and character building was better. Also Alex in a book has a sister which I loooove and Henry's sister Bea has very interesting backstory. There are many more little things they missed but overall I think they did a pretty good job (honestly, I wasn't expecting a lot...)

Jean and Milburn bonding and dancing together made me so happy - it’s a reminder of how rarely we see middle aged women’s story on TV. And of course, Adam’s situation in this episode is utterly heartbreaking.

great reaction! the book is really good. in it, alex has a sister named june and she's amazing! her, nora, and percy have much bigger parts. wish they were in the movie more. i was really nervous about the film but i ended up liking it well enough.
tbh it's understandable since it's hard to give all ckts screen time in a 2 hours movie, so I am happy they focused on Alex and Henry more, it's their story after all, wouldn't be good if we couldn't connect to them. Also they kinda merged June and Nora's ckt into one but it also works.
The way this book had me in an absolute chokehold ever since i read it 2 years ago. I was so excited for this movie . The intimacy scene was sooooo good i felt like i was intruding! Omg If u want a good gay love story read you and me by Tal bauer so good i cried Spooky season movie recs : Barbarian (u will be yelling at the screen!) Black phone: such a good movie The craft(iconic)
Lol oh I’m definitely reading the book now 😂 and omg that your for the book and movie suggestionssss! I will be adding them all to my list! I’ve seen the black phone and was shooketh lol but I haven’t seen or read the others so this should be goooood!
The film has a neat easter egg for us anglophiles & history geeks: The book's reigning monarch Queen Mary Mountchristen-Windsor is changed to the film's King *James* Hanover-*Stuart*. England's first king named *James* (born 1599, died 1625) was also a *Stuart*...and he did love the men! Many of them. Our boy Nicholas Galitzine plays one of his lovers, George Villiers, in the Sky series "Mary & George", in fact! This and the fact that he is played by Stephen Fry, the Elder Statesman of British Gays, as well as the film's king being much less homophobic & cold and more concerned with Henry's well-being than the book's queen leads me to believe that the creators are hinting that the king is himself gay (or bi) and closeted. Witness that shot of the king turning away from Henry, Alex & Co, leaning over his desk...that is a man in grief over his own lifelong self-denial, and in anguish over inflicting a pain he himself knows all too well on his beloved grandson.
You mentioned wanting more gay romance with adopting kids and I wondered if you've read House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune? The first few chapters are a bit slow but the story is so sweet and feel good. Definitely recommend reading it if you haven't already :) BTW, It's a fantasy story so hopefully a bit more your alley
@@sanrio8058 Yep. And since 1932 (91 years), Minnesota was Blue 20 times and Red 3 times. In 1972, MN voted for Republican Nixon who won by less than 96, 000 votes.
You want to know about how the British royal family can make people (even their own members) disappear? Look up the 2 princes in the tower. Or look up the current king's great uncle (I think his name was John).
I just rewatched your reaction to this movie (that I love). Towards the end you said “I hope I get to see a woman President”…well who knew when you first posted this that there is STRONG possibility that you will get your wish ☺️💙💙💙

Yes! Like it really boils my blood because we, if no one else, understand the feelings of being scared, alone and ostracized just for being apart of the community!! Like SIR!
I read the book after I watched the movie and, it might sound cliche, but the book is so much better. And I mean SOOOOOO much better. Or maybe, not better, because the movie is great, but it has so much more depth, and so many more layers. I cried at several places, :S. Loved your reaction too
This reaction was really good, for some show suggestions would be interview with a vampire the series cause I feel like you would enjoy that especially with spooky season coming up and Wolf pack that show would be great to see you react to!!
If you want a gay love story about a couple with a kid I think you will like the Japanese movie “His”. I don’t really see people talk about it much but I think it is very underrated. It really makes you feel for all of the characters. Even if you don’t make a reaction to it you should definitely watch it. 7:15
Per the presidents' children getting involved in campaigns - depends. Part of it depends on the ages but also other considerations. In general, publicity of the kids can be brutal, so some parents want to shield them, while others will use the interest to get the attention focused on their campaigns: Three of trump's kids were everywhere while the other two were kept low-key. The Obamas' kept their two daughters out of the spotlight, partly because of their ages. The first George Bush's son became so involved, he also became president. Nixon's daughter was very publicly married to former president Eisenhower's son, sort of American royalty at the time. Kennedy was the country's youngest president and his children were toddlers during his time, but his son, JFK Jr. grew up to be a senator and media superstar. Truman's only daughter's piano playing was once ridiculed by the press, and he went ballistic. Alice Roosevelt Longworth was the daughter of Teddy Roosevelt and was apparently was the first president's child to seek the limelight - in fact she dimmed it by comparison to her bright - and razor-sharp wit. Her uncle Franklin later became president, which put her back in the public's eyes but in between she was actually banned from the White House for being too outspoken. She is famous for having said "if you don't have anything nice to say, come sit next to me."
I love this movie a lot and I've been binging all kinds of reactions just to share enjoying this movie with others. I'm glad I came across your reaction. You are lovely & thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie again with you. I'm the typical middle aged, divorced, white woman that spends probably more than I should on romance books of all kinds. I can't know what young gay people must go through to have to come out or be judged purely on the color of my skin. When I see you & others like you, I want to stand up & say "well done" because it gives me hope that the world is changing for the better. I also know that there are teens out there that desperately need to see you and see that its ok to be who they are. I wish I had been more self aware when I was your age. Maybe if I had, I wouldn't have been looking at the person that was supposed to love me unconditionally but instead was demanding that I be someone I wasn't. But if I had, then I would have missed out on raising two very amazing kids who are kind, tolerant, and are putting out a lot of good out in the world. Sorry for the long comment but I hope you don't mind the virtual hug this is meant to be.
There's a Taiwanese show called Papa and Daddy that is about a gay couple having a kid through surrogacy. It's really good if you don't mind subtitles.
Great video! Your reactions are priceless. But you unfortunately cut up one of the best scenes! *tss* You might know, that one in this little french café. That conversation about their full names...it missed out the hilarious naughty point. 😅 I liked the movie also. Watched it at least 4 times in OV and also 4 times in my mother tongue, german! Loved the original version more. It is just a movie, which gave me a good feeling. And....seeing this two guys, when they find their path to each other's heart.....*swoon* 🌈❤ And anyway....lately I like gay couples more than straight ones! Heartstopper is also sweet! 😻
You should look up the Tower of London. And unless one dates an old prince. There aren't many single princes who are under the age of 40. Believe me I have checked.

Aw I want to hug youuuuu 🥹😭 I’m glad I said what you needed. Ugh my heart is so full 🥹❤️🤍💙
great reaction! the book is really good. in it, alex has a sister named june and she's amazing! her, nora, and percy have much bigger parts. wish they were in the movie more. i was really nervous about the film but i ended up liking it well enough.
@@kmjkmjkmj i mean, i didn't think so :/ hahaha.
tbh it's understandable since it's hard to give all ckts screen time in a 2 hours movie, so I am happy they focused on Alex and Henry more, it's their story after all, wouldn't be good if we couldn't connect to them. Also they kinda merged June and Nora's ckt into one but it also works.
The way this book had me in an absolute chokehold ever since i read it 2 years ago. I was so excited for this movie . The intimacy scene was sooooo good i felt like i was intruding! Omg
If u want a good gay love story read you and me by Tal bauer so good i cried
Spooky season movie recs :
Barbarian (u will be yelling at the screen!)
Black phone: such a good movie
The craft(iconic)
Lol oh I’m definitely reading the book now 😂 and omg that your for the book and movie suggestionssss! I will be adding them all to my list! I’ve seen the black phone and was shooketh lol but I haven’t seen or read the others so this should be goooood!
@@wwhn omg cant wait to see ur commentary on barbarian 😂😂
Absolutely adored this. Well done 🎉🎉
thank you 🥹😭
“That wig is horrible” and is just her hair😭
* hides face * sorry to that womaaaaan 😂
@@wwhn i meant Zahra btw lmaooo not Nora
I don't know if you got the joke of when Henry says his full name and Alex remarks he thought his own name was a mouthful and Henry remarks "he is".
That was a good line!
Lol I diiiiddd 😂 I kept forgetting to add it in when editing and re-edits lol but I do remember that lol idk how I skipped over that! Lol
I NEEDED THIS!!!

Thanks for the recommendation!
Omg ima really cry, I’m about to buy it now! Thank you so much for this lol
The most unbelievable part of this movie is that Minnesota went red. Minnesota has been Blue since 1976.
Consistently since 1976??!!
@@sanrio8058 Yep. And since 1932 (91 years), Minnesota was Blue 20 times and Red 3 times. In 1972, MN voted for Republican Nixon who won by less than 96, 000 votes.
Have you seen the fosters? It’s a show about a lesbian couple who adopt a lot of kids.
No I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard of it. I may check it out today.
You mentioned The Charm Offensive! I loved that book!
I went too the newest comments too see if anyone would mention this 😂😂
All i can say is that eventho its not perfect book adaptation, it is a perfect feel good movie.
Well thought out reaction 🎉!
Your barbs, digs, shade, were very well placed 😅
Rachel and that "we shall overcome- civil rights movement wig"
Uma Thurman's...very extra southern accent......l was dying 😅
....and then crying 😭 when you cried 😢 in the finale..
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so muuuuch 😭🥹 and LMAOOO yes the wigs and the accents TOOK ME OUT! 😂😂
I find it appalling when anyone purposely outs someone else, but a GAY GUY doing it is so much worse to me
Yes! Like it really boils my blood because we, if no one else, understand the feelings of being scared, alone and ostracized just for being apart of the community!! Like SIR!
The Charlotte references got me, I’m subscribed now 😂😂
When I tell you I laughed so hard editing it. It’s a part in this reaction that I’ve watched atleast 10 times lol 😂😂
@@wwhn you goofy as hell 😭
Read the book. If you enjoyed the movie you'll love the book too!!!
Oh ho ho ho i have WAITED. 👹
Lol and it’s hereeeee 😂🤗
I read the book after I watched the movie and, it might sound cliche, but the book is so much better. And I mean SOOOOOO much better. Or maybe, not better, because the movie is great, but it has so much more depth, and so many more layers. I cried at several places, :S. Loved your reaction too
Your reaction was wonderful. ❤
Definitely the scream movies!!!❤
This reaction was really good, for some show suggestions would be interview with a vampire the series cause I feel like you would enjoy that especially with spooky season coming up and Wolf pack that show would be great to see you react to!!
That song has been sung by many. But it’s originally sung by Elvis Presley. I like the UB40 version of “Falling in Love With You.”
It’s such a beautiful song!
In general, publicity of the kids can be brutal, so some parents want to shield them, while others will use the interest to get the attention focused on their campaigns:
Three of trump's kids were everywhere while the other two were kept low-key.
Yup, it was that slimeball, Miguel!
He was so wrong for that! I want that man arrested lol
This is such a fill good movie I am still watching it I am ready to see part 2.will there be a parttwo
There's a Taiwanese show called Papa and Daddy that is about a gay couple having a kid through surrogacy. It's really good if you don't mind subtitles.
This movie is ❤. Period.

Girl.... If they make that movie I'll die.... It'll literally be the best romcom ever.... That book is so charming....
Literally saaaameeee 😭😭 but baybeee we deserve it lol
Great video! Your reactions are priceless. But you unfortunately cut up one of the best scenes! *tss*
You might know, that one in this little french café. That conversation about their full names...it missed out the hilarious naughty point. 😅
I liked the movie also. Watched it at least 4 times in OV and also 4 times in my mother tongue, german! Loved the original version more. It is just a movie, which gave me a good feeling. And....seeing this two guys, when they find their path to each other's heart.....*swoon* 🌈❤
And anyway....lately I like gay couples more than straight ones! Heartstopper is also sweet! 😻
We need more gay romcoms with good and healthy representation!!! 😻😻😻❤️❤️❤️
one last Halloween suggestion: Halloweentown the movies are a classic, final destination.. trick or treat, IT, candy man
You should look up the Tower of London. And unless one dates an old prince. There aren't many single princes who are under the age of 40. Believe me I have checked.
28:55 Thank you! You're the only one I've seen mention this and you are so right!
It was crazy how she was just back there like uh uhhh bring my girl up to front!
Once again, a woman being treated as less than men. 🖕🏻the patriarchy
Loved the movie. saw it three times already.....Loved it
We are being fed! You have no idea--BL world is in a frenzy right now!!! You are dropping the reactions and keeping up!
Only made it to page 30ish of the book---couldnt do it so been waiting for the movie for newrly 2 years. The movie did not disappoint! Again loving your raw reactions i.e. "please dont make me cry"---proceeds to cry. As always keep up the good work
