agree, i was born in 82, during my growing up there was no lgbt themed movies, unless gays were side charchters or object of mockery, especialy in countries like my, then when finaly we started to have movies they were so depressed, first gay movie i ever watched was philadelphia, it literlay traumatised me and i was in my teen years, first kinda happy gt movie i watched was beautifull thing and big eden, everything else was around hate, homophobia, insane families, hate, aids, more aids, dying, more deaths from aids, it is2024, we have pep, prep all kinds of stuff, same sex marriages across the globe, new generations should have such movies, coz the ones i was growing up were so depressing, i was legaly adult in 2001, can you imagine how me and bunch of others all over world felt watching those movies, from fear to terror to depression, coz it was always around aids, homophobia and hatefull family. it gave us completly wrong image growing up, like there is no options for us for happy endings, all we got is aids, death of same, family wich will disown us, casual se** with strangers etc.. for most of my teenage and young adult years i saw myself alone for rest of my life or having se** with wrong person and diening of aids, thx to manin stream movies. so i dated women mostly, coz i was so sure i am str8, then i realised i kinda dont care about gender, se* etc but it is more attraction to person, so i dated litraly all genders and se*ual orientations, until i switched to men completly for last 5 years. now i am in a steady relationship with gay man for over a year, plus i raised 2 kids ( nephwes) and one is gay (22) and his world and experinces and growing up is completly different than my.. carefree, all the rights on a silver platter handed wich he takes for granted, while i got ashtrayes throwen in my head back in 2002 during first pride ever in my country. now we hae them thru couple of cities and no ones cares..

WOW!! As a gay man, I have watched a lot of reaction videos about this movie...usually screaming queens and straight woman...but YOU had the best reactions of ALL. i was actually thinking the same thing!! I haven't read the book or seen the movie but I heard that they had problem with Alex having hairy cheeks. So, I assume he's a bottom in the movie. Both David and I were honestly scared to put this out, in so many ways. We had no worries until we published and then both of our paranoias rang loud 🤣 We are amazed at the response though. Truly humbled (and relieved 😅). So far the only thing that folks have mentioned, that will be something I will try to be aware of, is the bisexuality and it’s presence in this movie. But, I obviously missed a small part that explains this in the movie and imo it wasn’t easy to catch on to without having seen that one part. And many have said that it is much more present in the book, so it must have been condensed for the movie. On top of that, I come from a generation where the word gay kind of referred to everyone gay, lesbian and bisexual. So to let everyone know, I was discounting that. But I’m sure I would have acknowledged it more if it was more detailed in the movie. In my experience, the queer community has been one of the more accepting, positive, and supportive communities in my life. I wouldn’t even be sober right now if it wasn’t for my eventual sponsor Dino, who literally saved my life by answering my call for help and picking me up within 10 minutes to take me to one of his favorite gay meetings that he chaired. I went to gay meetings exclusively after that. I’ve been a cast member of rocky horror picture show in my home town (for about year), fought for lgbtq+ rights for multiple years with CALPIRG and the Human Rights Campaign, and thanked the heavens when my mom FINALLY came out 😂 and started dating a woman. You’re a quick study! You picked up that Alex may be gay (he’s bisexual) after his first PR damage convo and you saw Henry’s thirsty look during the handshake. Alex is bi. He has been with 2 guys before. That's why he doesn't freak out. He is just surprised that after so many years of 'hating' on Henry, he now has caught feelings of all kinds for him.
I can't believe some people have said that Nicholas and Taylor have no chemistry. Their connection felt so organic and effortless. I could feel the angst, the hurt, the longing, the love and the friendship. I really love how the sex scene is so much more than sex, it's truly making love. It was so intimate that I felt like I was intruding on something very personal between two people. This one of the most beautiful, complex romances I've ever seen in a movie. But also a great depiction of what it's like to be in a position where you are afraid to be who you are. Even though the movie is obviously not based on a true story, the emails being hacked is based on a real scandal where phones of dozens of celebrities and public figures were hacked, including members of the royal family. But the most twisted thing about it was when it was discovered that, not only had phones of victims in terrorist attacks been hacked, but also the phone of a murdered teenager named Milly Dowler, which lead the police and her family to hold out false hope that she was still alive.

I think Alex's confusion was because he didn't like Henry because he thought him stuck up. And Henry was way off in England being a prince, so it was only when he had to spend time with him that he began to realize his deeper feelings. 😉 ETA: I love your reactions. So matter of fact.

This was a fun reaction! I wanted to offer some context because I had not seen it in the comments yet and my thoughts on the movie. This movie was adapted from a book, and there was a significant amount of story for the supporting characters that was cut out for time, so the movie basically just focused on Alex and Henry and their relationship. In the book, there are so many more emails, with Alex and Henry really getting to know and trust each other as well as building their relationship. They also tell each other secrets about their families, including Henry's sister Bea's addiction history, Miguel was created to take the place of a few book characters and plot lines, Alex's sister and stepfather were not included (nor was his parents' divorce), Henry's mom never appears, and the emails were really just skimmed over in a montage. The core of the story and most scenes did come right from the book, even if dialogue changes were made. The Kensington confrontation after the lake house is also a little more dramatic in the book because the whole book is from Alex's point of view, and the movie chose to focus on Henry from the lake house to the Leak. Also, I think the security was a lot more present in the book, especially since there are 2 Secret Service members that usually travel with Alex at different points, Amy and Cash, and not just Amy like in the movie, and there was a lot more mentions of their security details for both Alex and Henry, but I was really excited to see that Amy was included in the movie because some adaptations would have cut something like that out and not even bothered to have security. But to be fair about the ending scene, Alex and Henry snuck out in the middle of a party celebrating Ellen's win, and in the book, the bikes were borrowed from Alex's friend/sorta ex from high school, one of the characters that Miguel took the place of, who may have also tried to cover for them, I don't remember exactly.

Nice to see a straight man react to this film. 😂 I’m a straight woman and I wasn’t even sure how I’d like it, but OMG the chemistry was great. Side characters were great. (I just hated Uma’s accent) Had a little bit of raunch but still pretty tasteful for the most part. Definitely one the best romcoms I have seen in a long time!! I’ll definitely check out the book now!
To be fair, when Alex mentions to Nora when they're talking that he's been with two guys before, once in HS and once Miguel the reporter. He's just never taken time to deal with his sexuality before. Side note- you saying "Bond, James Bond." about Henry is comically ironic considering that Herny's father (in the novel) is a famous actor who was at one point James Bond.
one of the best reactions i’ve seen for this movie !! i notice there’s a pattern where people will opt for odd, if not outlandish jokes with queer-featuring movies where they would not make similar remarks for any hetero-centered movies. loved how you never once implicated that nor treated it like some eccentricity - just a relationship that was in bloom lol. while this movie is certainly tagged and credited rightfully so for being a “gay film” - to me, the extent of influence and storytelling was a bit more than that. this movie was enjoyable from script to scene and cast and i’m glad we got to see the relationship of alex and henry vivified ⭐️

And then to read about Dino it just shows that you really are a good, decent, honorable man. The fact that your only negative comments where the same as mine, ( a 64 year old out gay father of one man with three grandchildren, who came out in his mid-30’s) about it being sappy and cliche, shows how far many have come in the generations after me. Your acceptance and lack of ridicule, willingness to not be offended and to take the story for what it was was amazing. Recognizing how good the parents were tells me that you,too, are/would be equally amazing parent as well.
As to being afraid to release this review, especially in the times we are living through is probably the best way to help our country progress. Its due to folks like you who see the humanity in others and don’t automatically hate that might actually get us back on a path of letting every one of us live our lives the way we choose, not how it’s chosen for us by some scared little closed minded people looking to take us backward. Be brave and know that when the haters come that you will be standing taller and without the shame they have in their hearts. I applaud you and know that you are the best kind of human.
You’re a quick study! You picked up that Alex may be gay (he’s bisexual) after his first PR damage convo and you saw Henry’s thirsty look during the handshake. In this adaptation of the book, Alex is relatively quick at figuring out his feelings and moving forward, but you’re quicker. You’re quicker than Nora and she’s the genius data cruncher!

I can't believe some people have said that Nicholas and Taylor have no chemistry. Their connection felt so organic and effortless. I could feel the angst, the hurt, the longing, the love and the friendship. I really love how the sex scene is so much more than sex, it's truly making love. It was so intimate that I felt like I was intruding on something very personal between two people. This one of the most beautiful, complex romances I've ever seen in a movie. But also a great depiction of what it's like to be in a position where you are afraid to be who you are.
Even though the movie is obviously not based on a true story, the emails being hacked is based on a real scandal where phones of dozens of celebrities and public figures were hacked, including members of the royal family. But the most twisted thing about it was when it was discovered that, not only had phones of victims in terrorist attacks been hacked, but also the phone of a murdered teenager named Milly Dowler, which lead the police and her family to hold out false hope that she was still alive.
the editor comments had me crying. omg this was fun haha. as a fan of the book, this movie adaptation didn't quite live up to expectations but it's definitely enjoyable. great reaction!

I think Alex's confusion was because he didn't like Henry because he thought him stuck up. And Henry was way off in England being a prince, so it was only when he had to spend time with him that he began to realize his deeper feelings. 😉

This was a fun reaction! I wanted to offer some context because I had not seen it in the comments yet and my thoughts on the movie. This movie was adapted from a book, and there was a significant amount of story for the supporting characters that was cut out for time, so the movie basically just focused on Alex and Henry and their relationship. In the book, there are so many more emails, with Alex and Henry really getting to know and trust each other as well as building their relationship. They also tell each other secrets about their families, including Henry's sister Bea's addiction history, Miguel was created to take the place of a few book characters and plot lines, Alex's sister and stepfather were not included (nor was his parents' divorce), Henry's mom never appears, and the emails were really just skimmed over in a montage. The core of the story and most scenes did come right from the book, even if dialogue changes were made. The Kensington confrontation after the lake house is also a little more dramatic in the book because the whole book is from Alex's point of view, and the movie chose to focus on Henry from the lake house to the Leak.
Also, I think the security was a lot more present in the book, especially since there are 2 Secret Service members that usually travel with Alex at different points, Amy and Cash, and not just Amy like in the movie, and there was a lot more mentions of their security details for both Alex and Henry, but I was really excited to see that Amy was included in the movie because some adaptations would have cut something like that out and not even bothered to have security. But to be fair about the ending scene, Alex and Henry snuck out in the middle of a party celebrating Ellen's win, and in the book, the bikes were borrowed from Alex's friend/sorta ex from high school, one of the characters that Miguel took the place of, who may have also tried to cover for them, I don't remember exactly.

Nice to see a straight man react to this film. 😂 I’m a straight woman and I wasn’t even sure how I’d like it, but OMG the chemistry was great. Side characters were great. (I just hated Uma’s accent) Had a little bit of raunch but still pretty tasteful for the most part. Definitely one the best romcoms I have seen in a long time!! I’ll definitely check out the book now!

To be fair, when Alex mentions to Nora when they're talking that he's been with two guys before, once in HS and once Miguel the reporter. He's just never taken time to deal with his sexuality before.
Side note- you saying "Bond, James Bond." about Henry is comically ironic considering that Herny's father (in the novel) is a famous actor who was at one point James Bond.
one of the best reactions i’ve seen for this movie !! i notice there’s a pattern where people will opt for odd, if not outlandish jokes with queer-featuring movies where they would not make similar remarks for any hetero-centered movies. loved how you never once implicated that nor treated it like some eccentricity - just a relationship that was in bloom lol. while this movie is certainly tagged and credited rightfully so for being a “gay film” - to me, the extent of influence and storytelling was a bit more than that. this movie was enjoyable from script to scene and cast and i’m glad we got to see the relationship of alex and henry vivified ⭐️

One note on the on screen jokes: English isn’t my first language and the text is only visible for such a short time that I mostly just miss them.
