This video encompasses the typical family outing: go somewhere people tell you is great, reach there, start having fun and then have the weather be a complete spoilsport. I have never not had this experience. 10/10
Evelyn and Dave are starting to hit their stride now, great episode guys and a pure class looking location. Not a bad wee camera, just a pity the camera is dear as hell, it's the price a two of Dave's cars put together lol.
Black Phillip The original two hosts for this channel moved to DP Review several months back and are doing their reviews on DPR’s You Tube channel now.
Hi guys. Have to say you are getting better with each episode. As non native speaker I have had problems with understanding Dave because he is kind of mumbling but this time I am able to understand much better. Keep fingers crossed you keep up! :-)
After struggling with purchasing this camera, and watching tons of reviews, I end with your review. (Best one yet) You both made up my mind. We own a mirrorless and love to travel but love to travel light. I also love a no brainer camera, I just want the Pic and be done with it. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with this camera. I definitely found it helpful. As for your format and presentation, I like it. You have to stick with what feels natural to YOU. That is what makes it helpful when watched along with all of the other videos on this camera. You cannot be all things to all people, and people complaining about lack of technical testing (or whatever) have obviously already had access to other videos that do that, so what is there to complain about. Does every damn video have to cover every damn thing every damn time in order to be helpful? Nope.
Good video presentation! You hit all the high points of the camera, there was good interchanges between the presenters, and great photo and video samples. You guys do well together.
When you consider that (for example) you can buy a brand new, high-end U.S. Fender, Gibson or Martin guitar for the same price, it does make the price rather outrageous. On the other hand, if it could survive say, a fifteen foot drop onto concrete (without a case), I'd probably consider it!
I really love watching you guys, and you are just getting better all the time. I like the format of having two people in front of camera interacting with each other, too. This should give you an idea of how much I like watching your show: I have zero interest whatsoever in the RX100, and watched just to see you guys! :)
Great review, folks. I would definitely going to watch you guys in coming episodes. Also, a point, please please please see the RUclips comments, and try to take the positive criticisms and turn them into a positive note for this show. May success find it's way towards you. Love from Kolkata, India.
Thank you Ev & Dave for this review. Love the easy going laid back style while still being informative. How accurate was the zoom in your experience to get the right composition? Does it feel like you can get it to zoom to the point you want it to or is it a lot of : zoomed in too far, zoomed out too far? Oh and greetings from The Netherlands. :)
Thanks for the reply and the feedback. We are still figuring out our style but having lots of fun along the way. The zoom is pretty well implemented but there is still a room for improvement.
Is Olympus OM DE M10 mark 3 a good camera over Sony a600 ? Or any other alternatives? I want something tat I can carry everywhere with ease. Not a serious photographer just an enthusiast. Pls suggest
Another great and enjoyable video guys :D at that price, I think I’ll wait until the RX100 X comes out, and this camera goes down to about 1/3 of the price
I still feel they should've improved the Mark 5 instead of changing the lens. Add audio input, improve battery life, improve SD card speed, better UI... Quality of life improvements like that. Maybe even a fully articulated screen. I wouldn't even think before purchasing that. As it is, I don't have the RX-100 Mark 5 simply because of the bad battery life.
Love your style guys--very nice video. I just packed my gear for a five day trip and have to admit that I would prefer to have this camera instead my comparative large bag with my 4/3 Pana. Keep up the good work-love ya!
Great job guys, I think that you did a good job showing the camera in ways that folks seeking such a device might use it. Sadly, I find the camera way too expensive for what it delivers, and there are too many limitations, well articulated in your video, to make it viable for my use cases
After watching this video, I miss my Panasonic GH4. Gosh I miss the 4K pictures from the GH series :) Though I do agree, if you have the money, this MK VI would seem pretty worth it with its features. Though it's price tag is so crazy.
Is point shoot cameras or the thing of the past cell phone now or making better and better cameras on the phone. Snapseed and Lightroom to edit your photo if you're on an Android platform
Seriously? This feels so much like an advert for Sony (and I love Sony cameras) But where was the mention of the lens going from 1.8 to 2.8? Pretty major in my opinion.
Funny you should mention that... I talked about the slower lens in a couple of my "takes" about the lens. But, I messed something up when I was talking about it, so we had to cut it. I agree that it is a major sacrifice. You have to really value the extra telephoto range to justify the slower lens compared to the M5. Sigh... - Evelyn
The 6th generation RX100 seems expensive until you compare it to those flagship cell phones such as iPhone X or Google Pixel 2 Plus. The RX100 VI will last a lot longer than these cell phones, and non of them can match its prowess.
The smartphones are closing the gap of compact cameras ? Lol event the 8 years old rx100 mark 1 that you can get for 200€ will give you better results than a pixel 2
On the mark 1 you have a standard sd card. You can buy a card phone adaptator for 10$. On the mark 2 (100 or 200$ more) you have wifi and NFC, so yeah exept if you're allergic to the 20 seconds transfert times it's incredibly easy
Its better to take old approach like one presenter explain the video and other explain the photo. Then both can conclude together at the end. Just a feedback from old TCSTV TV Viewers.
Still can't believe they can't get more than 5 minutes for 4k. Panasonic kills them on that even with their old lx10/15. No Nd filter too is a downgrade over their old models
Wow, for a 1" sensor (13mmx8mm, or 7.4x smaller than 35mm Full Frame) this camera is insanely expensive. I thought the appeal of these things was supposed to be when Sony put a Full Frame sensor in a compact body, that justifies a $1,500 pricetag, this is just absurd.
No more ND filter and the super short 4k time limit = "not a video camera" and a no purchase. Sony sure has stepped backwards with this one. Sony has done this "step backwards and remove features approach" recently with their current bridge camera that made is less compelling to buy since the older model had a much faster lens. I wish they would spend more time improving a camera line rather than making it worse just to have another camera to sell.
I would like to make a suggestion for future videos. Which is that if you are calling video a review, you should really invest more time and offer in testing the camera and sharing insights that are not easy to find in just about every other channel or website. Look at someone like Gordon Laing @ Cameralabs for instance. The man really does his job well and offers tones of insights that others do not. He also does proper testing. Your videos feel extremely basic and shallow when it comes to valuable information. I am not questioning your personalities as presenters, but the info you give and testing you do. Please, if you are calling your videos a review, than do a proper review and offer something unique of value. I have been a long time subscriber, but I feel the quality has gone down and down and down until now its pretty much useless videos to me. I hope you read the comments at least and take this constructive criticism as important factor for your next videos. Thank you.
Thanks Krunoslav. We are reading all the comments and appreciate the constructive feedback. I see what you are saying. We will try to incorporate more testing into the videos. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Too expensive for what it is. The idea that you can fit it in your pocket does not trump the idea that the a6500 is better at everything and not much more expensive.
I think it's more of a nervous rambling. Kinda like Zero Punctuation. I hope it dissipates as they do more shows, because it's rather jarring having one host talk normally, and the other talk like they just did several lines in the car before they started the video...
jaymeez really????? Maybe because they are completely different products for different markets! Seriously some people seem to live in a tiny bubble and can't see passed their own preferences
shaolin95 hmmm the lady in this video mentions that for the price you could go for a mirrorless camera, my comment simply agrees with her, and your comment is simply trolling.
StereoTP95 Someone with tons of money and is also inherently lazy and doesn’t care about having the best quality can go ahead and purchase this camera. This this won’t record 4k if you plan on recording for over 5 minutes! The size difference between the a6500 and this camera is negligible especially if you get the kit lens which is very small. Throw one additional zoom lens in your bag and boom good to go with high quality 4k on a mirrorless camera. This obviously is my opinion and my opinion is shared by the lady in the video. But as they say in Thailand “up to you”
jaymeez I think the point is that they don’t want to carry another lens, and they don’t want to stop to change lenses. Even with a kit lens, doesn’t fit in a pocket. I have an a6500 with primes and zooms, and am considering getting the v or vi for travel.
Chris & Jordan left TCSTV a couple months ago and are now over on DPReview still doing reviews. Dave and I have been with The Camera Store since 2007 and are now hosting the show. If you go back to the last live show, you can get the full scoop.
This video encompasses the typical family outing: go somewhere people tell you is great, reach there, start having fun and then have the weather be a complete spoilsport.
I have never not had this experience. 10/10
Exactly. We were only rained out for about 20 minutes. The afternoon was lovely. :)
Keeping it real with the cracked windshield in the car. But may want to get that fixed! :)
0:43 "Quick, kids, we have to find Chris' body before the cops do!"
Lol!
Juan knows.
They're trying to fish out that Nikon action cam Chris lost some time ago.
Hahahahha
I liked Chris but you guys are better dressers. While Chis was dressing himself at Value Village, you went to Atmosphere or Sports Experts.
Evelyn and Dave are starting to hit their stride now, great episode guys and a pure class looking location. Not a bad wee camera, just a pity the camera is dear as hell, it's the price a two of Dave's cars put together lol.
Happy this channel isn't going down without a fight
What happened ?
Black Phillip The original two hosts for this channel moved to DP Review several months back and are doing their reviews on DPR’s You Tube channel now.

Pretty Landscape, perfect Review and you both are very good to listen. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Germany.
Hello Germany! 💕
Thanks for sharing your experiences with this camera. I definitely found it helpful.
As for your format and presentation, I like it. You have to stick with what feels natural to YOU. That is what makes it helpful when watched along with all of the other videos on this camera.

LOL! Loved Jordan's cameo there. Really enjoying you both together. Real nice compact too.
Good video presentation! You hit all the high points of the camera, there was good interchanges between the presenters, and great photo and video samples. You guys do well together.
Thanks Fritz!
It's the best digital camera but for $1600 Sony is crazy. It's better to get Sony A6500 or Canon M50 for less
How much does an A6500 cost in Canada ?
When you consider that (for example) you can buy a brand new, high-end U.S. Fender, Gibson or Martin guitar for the same price, it does make the price rather outrageous. On the other hand, if it could survive say, a fifteen foot drop onto concrete (without a case), I'd probably consider it!
Mai Va Lee it’s $1600 Canadian.
I really love watching you guys, and you are just getting better all the time. I like the format of having two people in front of camera interacting with each other, too. This should give you an idea of how much I like watching your show: I have zero interest whatsoever in the RX100, and watched just to see you guys! :)
Thanks Carol, much appreciated.
I enjoyed watching this video. You guys are getting better! :)
Great review, folks. I would definitely going to watch you guys in coming episodes.

May success find it's way towards you. Love from Kolkata, India.
Thanks, Tanumay. We appreciate the best wishes and advice. Cheers to you in India!
Nice to see the new guys settling in.
Seems to have a very magenta tint on skin tones very similar to older Canon point & shoots.
TCSTV's host transition is WAAYYYY smoother than Digitalrev! Congrats!
Thank you.
agreed
Interesting video review of this camera, thanks. What was the mini tripod that you used?
Another great video and review thank you!
nice video ....confused between RX 10 iv vs Rx00 vi.....any inputs
Great review guys I am planning to get this as my nerve condition won’t allow much more now
does it have rolling shutter ? I have read that even if it has a stacked sensor tt does have rolling shutter.
Hello, should i get the Canon SL2 or the Panasonic G7 for mainly vlogging and just casual recording?
Great review, but what are you guys doing on Chris’ channel and what have you done to him?
With the new lens, is it compatible with the official Sony underwater case for the rx100 series cameras? Or is it too long?
Thank you Ev & Dave for this review. Love the easy going laid back style while still being informative. How accurate was the zoom in your experience to get the right composition? Does it feel like you can get it to zoom to the point you want it to or is it a lot of : zoomed in too far, zoomed out too far? Oh and greetings from The Netherlands. :)
Thanks for the reply and the feedback. We are still figuring out our style but having lots of fun along the way. The zoom is pretty well implemented but there is still a room for improvement.
What's that grip you're using?
Is Olympus OM DE M10 mark 3 a good camera over Sony a600 ? Or any other alternatives? I want something tat I can carry everywhere with ease. Not a serious photographer just an enthusiast. Pls suggest
The cost is the killer on this
Another great and enjoyable video guys :D at that price, I think I’ll wait until the RX100 X comes out, and this camera goes down to about 1/3 of the price

Maybe even a fully articulated screen. I wouldn't even think before purchasing that. As it is, I don't have the RX-100 Mark 5 simply because of the bad battery life.
There is a RX100 VA, may be coming to your region.
Can you still download playmemories with this camera
Nice review. Is that Oleg from the "24 Hours at a Time" watch review channel in the background?
Curious, what camera did you use to shoot the video?
Panasonic GH5
Love your style guys--very nice video.
I just packed my gear for a five day trip and have to admit that I would prefer to have this camera instead my comparative large bag with my 4/3 Pana.
Keep up the good work-love ya!
Thanks Martin! I have to admit, it was pretty liberating walking around with such a small package.
Great job guys, I think that you did a good job showing the camera in ways that folks seeking such a device might use it. Sadly, I find the camera way too expensive for what it delivers, and there are too many limitations, well articulated in your video, to make it viable for my use cases
Love the location! I'm from Calgary and have never been there and would love if you showcased more locations in and around Calgary like this as well!
I like the new presenter Ev and Dave ... Keep it up.
Thanks!
Hey guys, great video! What audio setup were you using for this episode?
Rode Filmmaker Kits with a Panasonic XLR1 Adapter into the GH5 with Sanken COS 11 Mics.
TheCameraStoreTV nice!! Thanks for that. Sounds really clean to me. May have to invest!
Thanks for the review. I would be interested in a head-2-head with the Panasonic TZ 101
Show us how to do time lapse without remote. Play memories not available anymore
Nice review. If it wasn't for the price it would really be amazing. I also was feeling bad for the camera being in the rain.
So, get the nikon 1 v1?
Ernesto Rodriguez lol sure
Great job on the review!! with that price tag a mic input should have been included...
Right!? It's crazy that it doesn't have one.
Good review, thanks.
You're not there yet. But keep going guys.
Thanks for the support Emmanuel!
I really like this camera except $1700 in Oz is a bit rich unfortunately.
What did you end up going with? I bought the Mark VI from JB HiFi yesterday (Dec 2020) for $998. Loving every bit of it so far.
Still got my M3 as a companion for my 5d M3.
Cool! Yeah, who wouldn't keep a Leica as a backup? :)
Why is there no hammock scene in this review to rival that of your DPReview counterparts ? : )
Agreed! We totally needed a hammock that day. But, that might have gotten a little awkward... ;)
We have a copyright on 'camera reviewer duo in a hammock'.
Awesome camera. Too bad I'm poor as dirt.
The 6th generation RX100 seems expensive until you compare it to those flagship cell phones such as iPhone X or Google Pixel 2 Plus.
The RX100 VI will last a lot longer than these cell phones, and non of them can match its prowess.
In true TCSTV fashion, the car has a cracked windshield 😂
The smartphones are closing the gap of compact cameras ? Lol event the 8 years old rx100 mark 1 that you can get for 200€ will give you better results than a pixel 2
But can it share those pictures to whats app or Facebook or flickr or wherever?
On the mark 1 you have a standard sd card. You can buy a card phone adaptator for 10$. On the mark 2 (100 or 200$ more) you have wifi and NFC, so yeah exept if you're allergic to the 20 seconds transfert times it's incredibly easy
The first thing I noticed? The white balance!
So, I learned I loved this channel for the "personalities" We need Chris and Jordan back. I guess I have to see them on DPReview, what a trick.
Its better to take old approach like one presenter explain the video and other explain the photo. Then both can conclude together at the end. Just a feedback from old TCSTV TV Viewers.
I still rock my Sony RX100 and get great results (for a fraction of the price)
$1600 is going to be the end of the RX100 series. Totally insane.
f2.8 from 1.8 is a deal breaker for me. Not to mention the price. The old models are fantastic work horses for a vlogger on a budget.
Great little camera but that price is insane.
awesome option for a pocket photographer. but that's pretty pricey given the cell phone sized sensor
Johnny Walker I believe cell phone sensors are around the 1/3.2” size which is way smaller than a 1” sensor so there’s a significant difference.
Thank for the video! I’ll wait for Canon to come out with g7x Mark III
Thanks 🇨🇦
Still can't believe they can't get more than 5 minutes for 4k. Panasonic kills them on that even with their old lx10/15. No Nd filter too is a downgrade over their old models
Got one now 😀
Wow, for a 1" sensor (13mmx8mm, or 7.4x smaller than 35mm Full Frame) this camera is insanely expensive.
I thought the appeal of these things was supposed to be when Sony put a Full Frame sensor in a compact body, that justifies a $1,500 pricetag, this is just absurd.
Where’s Chris?
You can still watch him over on DPReview. :)
crasy that non-Leica compacts are getting into FF dslr price range
mipmipmipmipmip and nothing else comes close so Sony van charge more unfortunately
I don't get it. Who are these people?
Empty Slot new presenters.
And who cares?
Who are you?
Who am I ?
Chris and Jordan moved to DPREVIEWS
No more ND filter and the super short 4k time limit = "not a video camera" and a no purchase. Sony sure has stepped backwards with this one. I wish they would spend more time improving a camera line rather than making it worse just to have another camera to sell.
Beautiful camera, but at that price, Sony can stick it where the sun don’t shine.
I would like to make a suggestion for future videos. Looking forward to seeing what you will improve. Thank you for listening.
Are they driving with a cracked windshield in the direct view of the driver? 3:07 Thats irresponsible.
Maybe... At least we kept the camera dry in the car which WAS responsible.
Too expensive for what it is. The idea that you can fit it in your pocket does not trump the idea that the a6500 is better at everything and not much more expensive.
He reminds me of the actor Tom Arnold. But not the hyper part.
I think it's more of a nervous rambling. Kinda like Zero Punctuation. I hope it dissipates as they do more shows, because it's rather jarring having one host talk normally, and the other talk like they just did several lines in the car before they started the video...
Time to fix the crack on the windscreen :)
I really do. It's getting pretty bad... even for a Canadian windshield.
for the price, without a mic input . shame on you Sony
$1200 msrp. That's freaking absurd for a casual point and shoot
Fantastic camera but $1200 is just way too much. Most people don't give a damn about picture quality. The most recent smartphones are good enough.
Black Phillip good enough is not what the Market for this camera is. Is that so hard to grasp?
Yes, $1200 is hard to grasp. $400 maybe. But $1200 is a big NO!
Thanks for your interesting review. Chris and Jordan must be very jealous.Bye!
I feel like these guys are telling a dumb audience compared to the other guys. There are plenty of these on the net. Bring back the old guys!!!
2.8 on wide angle, no mic, no hs, and for $1.5k? what sony smoking?
I bought this camera. Only complain is no timelapse. A little disappointed
These guys are nice too. What happened to the other guys if I may ask?
You can watch them on DPReviews channel.
TheCameraStoreTV Thank you very much and looking forward to more videos from you guys. :)
lol, they are just hosts reading scripts check out their instagram and you ll freak out :D
Nice...
way i buy camera lower than old model and more price sony play with costume
Jeeeeez, what’s going on here? Where are the other two dudes? I don’t watch this.
Chris and Jordan have moved their show over to DPReview’s RUclips channel.
Chris niccoll
Dude you talk waaaaaaaaaay too quick. Slow down to Chris' speed.
Who would pay that much money?! Sony a6500 is cheaper & better
jaymeez really????? Maybe because they are completely different products for different markets! Seriously some people seem to live in a tiny bubble and can't see passed their own preferences
shaolin95 hmmm the lady in this video mentions that for the price you could go for a mirrorless camera, my comment simply agrees with her, and your comment is simply trolling.
jaymeez some people have a lot of money and dont want to change lenses.
There is a SLIGHT size difference aswell.
Is it so hard to understand?
It dosent feel the same
Sony and its ridiculous prices again!
osomax osomax find a similar product that even comes close to this? You can't. That's why they charge so much
I don't remember subscribing to this people, what's going on..
Chris & Jordan left TCSTV a couple months ago and are now over on DPReview still doing reviews. Dave and I have been with The Camera Store since 2007 and are now hosting the show. If you go back to the last live show, you can get the full scoop.
umm.. what is this?
ummm, it's a review for the RX100 VI. ;) Chris & Jordan are now over at DPReview if that's what you are asking.
Dave, you talk at a good speed in the car but soon as you get outside you turn into speedy gonzales. Talk slower otherwise no one can understand you.
???? wrong channel
Chris & Jordan left TCSTV a couple months ago. They are over on DPReview TV. We are the new hosts here.
