    I notice it’s always the English local fans that are the most negative. I don’t blame them as it can’t be easy supporting Tottenham in the UK. It’s bad enough here in Aus copping it when we lose. Purely from an EPL points-won perspective, Ange achieved a 10% improvement (66 points compared to 60 in the season prior) in his first year. If we saw another 10% improvement this season (which is realistic to aim for I think) it would mean that Spurs finish on 73 points with a likely 3rd or 4th place finish. Anything more than that would be a bonus.

      I’ve given up on several channels because of their encouragement of toxic negativity about the club, the team and Ange. The notion that you’d demand major on pitch success after a rebuild lasting one season and three games is almost too idiotic to fathom. It’s sort of a collective Dunning Kruger response - a group acting so foolishly that they can’t fathom how foolish they are. I hope that this toxic negativity concerns only a very small percentage of the fan base

  • @twosheds2030
    @twosheds2030 19 дней назад +3

    The defining trait of the toxic negative Spurs fan is to be continually and loudly depressed and to be always demanding challenging for the league and any trophy around, but curiously without any of the hard strategy and the hard work required to fully rebuild. I feel sorry for them. They’re almost permanently deluded. Your podcast is a very welcome antidote to this nonsense. The Ange Spurs project is a very hard gig but have no doubt it will deliver major and sustainable success if the club keeps to the course

    Copernicus, Galileo and Darwin were "toxic minority" among others who actually look at the data and made the conclusion.
    Are you really seeing the "Ange ball" as the flawless system that can be employed by contender in super competitive EPL? Data does not support that.
    Spurs spent decent amount of money and have a good squad. The top quality manager maximizes the talent in the squad by adjusting game plans and tactics.

    • @barneyhall2753
      @barneyhall2753 19 дней назад +3

      -What data suggests the team is not performing better than two seasons ago?
      -Who has suggested that any system is flawless?
      Every system has weaknesses and strengths.
      The main issue at the moment is that we are not converting enough of the chances we are creating. That's not a systematic flaw, that's a flaw in execution.
      -That is what an International manager should do, where as a club manager can go out and buy players that suit how they want the team to play.

    • @alexvoron5295
      @alexvoron5295 19 дней назад

      @@barneyhall2753 We have very average (midtable)EPL expected goals against, and in fact allow more than that cause we give away a lot of good chances to score, despite having good CB's and GK. In short it's easy to score against us. It's a systemic flaw. It's being exposed by good clubs.
      The attacking players capable to outscore our defensive difficulties are very few and super expensive and for us , not being Real or Man City , it's super difficult to attract .
      Solanke, Richie, Sonny are Ok players, but not a difference makers against Arsenal and Man City and Liverpool and couple more good teams given the opportunities we routinely giving away to their best attackers.
      BTW no club can buy any player they want. And it does not look like we are routinely producing Saka and Phoden and Bellingham in our academy, or unearthing the gems like Brighton, Sporting or Benfica.

    • @OhSoSpurs
      @OhSoSpurs  18 дней назад +1

      @@eddienx7 realistic but it's all relative to who we are. Man City have won 6 of the last 7 titles. If your expectations are Spurs should be better than Man City despite them having infinitely more resources then that's likely a negative and draining viewpoint to be surrounded by.
      If your view is that Spurs could be winning a trophy of some kind every 4 or 5 years then that's fair enough. I think that's where most fans sit. Frustratingly, that should have been the case having made plenty of semi finals and losing to inferior opposition. Bizzare decisions at key moments by our managers and also poorly thought out recruitment contributed to this.

      @OhSoSpurs spurs are 8th richest football club in the world, they charge fans astronomical prices, levy is the highest paid chairman in the league, if spurs can't compete with the best, then what they charge the fans should reflect that

    • @OhSoSpurs
      @OhSoSpurs  18 дней назад +1

      @@eddienx7 It's irrelevant if Spurs are richer than every club in Italy and Holland if they don't compete with them. Within the Premier League where Spurs compete they are the 6th 'richest' club. However they have climbed 4th in terms of revenue generated. They also have the 3rd highest transfer net spend over the last 3 seasons so ambition appears to be there.
      The season ticket price argument is irrelevant out of context. Prices are in line with areas. Spurs have average ticket prices within 5% of Fulham, Chelsea and Arsenal. They're also not the highest. However it's just the average for a London based premier league club. As a season ticket holder I find the prices frustrating but they're relative to being a premier league club in London.

    • @eddienx7
      @eddienx7 18 дней назад

      @OhSoSpurs 3rd highest transfer net spend is irrelevant if you're signing players like timo verner, richarlison, Johnson, who would not get into top 6 rival teams, and I can't remember the last time spurs beat a top 6 team, pretty soon our best players will want to leave to join clubs with more ambition so they can win things, We've signed young unproven players, our starting 11 other than solanki hasn't improved

    • @OhSoSpurs
      @OhSoSpurs  18 дней назад

      @@eddienx7 have to disagree. When Ange took over we had 4 players to choose from for LW, CAM, CF and RW. That was Son, Kane, Richarlison and Kulusevski. There was no backup or depth to any of those positions asides from Danjuma. Now Spurs have Solanke, Richarlison, Son, Odobert, Maddison, Bergvall, Kulusevski and Johnson.
      Spurs had Romero as their only senior centre back. Now we have Romero, VdV and Dragusin.
      We also had to remove the GK situation and brought in Vicario.
      If you don’t think that is a meaningful squad overhaul in 1 year under Ange then we are on different pages.
