The bull fighting /killing term just triggered me each time , then my father was the town drubk joke? this is the only one of her talks I could not get something out of, I will now go back to easier ones . maybe one day I will be ready for this.
What an odd metaphor to use. A bull and a matador? One of the most senseless and brutal atrocities that man commits against another species to describe a place of 'equanimity?' Honestly, I found it so off putting I could not continue to listen.
Kim Mousseau - Its regrettable whenever we say something that lands on others in a way that is fully unintended. It happens to all of us... even someone with the communication skills of Tara Branch. In this case Kim, it seems your understandable revulsion to the cruelty of bullfighting caused you to miss the point and triggered a reaction that is the very antithesis of equanimity. I encourage you to listen again, listen deeply and listen further. There is something here for you. Namaste.
Sure, none of us are fans of bullfighting - but Tara is putting it totally from the bull's point of view "in that spot the bull feels absolutely safe, becomes still, regains strength, is fearless" That does not equate with supporting cruelty, no matter how much the image of the bull-ring may evoke unpleasant thought in us. If we can let go, we may find we actually have more strength to influence and change things. Think of the mind-state of people in challenging situations: martial arts, anti-logging protestors - having inner calm gives strength.
This is one of the best talks by Tara.
I have been watching many of your talks on equanimity, I want you to know they are helping me so much on my journey ❤
Can't hear this enough! Thank you.

Very helpful. But- would it kill you to mention God or Christ as one’s possible connection
