Great tutorial! This is really helping me. One question, is it possible to use multiple photos of an environment (say the inside of a building) and do camera projection from multiple angles so you could fill in the missing information? For example, in this video, your bridge scene was missing a lot of information on the rest of the bridge and ground. If you had pics of the other side of the bridge and of the areas that are empty here, would you be able to map around to fill that in and get a more complete 3D model of the environment? Like a "poor man's Photogrammetry" I guess lol

Yes, once you have set up the first projection you can add a new camera from a new angle, then if you make that camera 'active' (ctrl+numpad0). You can repeat the process in the texture paint mode (texture paint project). It will project the image on top of the old one destructively so you might want to create a new image texture first. Hope that helps!

@@Nicko16 Does Blender have any tools to help you match up multiple pictures like this? Or do you just have to eyeball it?

Thank you! I'm planning on getting into camera projection a lot with 2.8, this is very helpful!

Same! It's awesome for establishing shots

I don't do actual texture painting, so I had no idea you could use it to applyi the camera image in that mode!
Really cool. Thanks for the tip!

Hey Nicko. The way you explaining stuff is really cool. you must focus more into building tutorials. I have been going through lot of tutorials from other guys and most of them are very boring. Im subscribing and clicking the bell icon believing that you will produce more quality contents.

Thanks for the tutorial! Can you show how to bake the camera projection so you can put the entire 3d scene into another program like nuke? When I save and transfer it over it doesn't have any of the projection information and I can't find any tutorials on this.

Hi Nick, I followed the previous 3 parts of this tutorial without issue (thanks!) but really struggled with this one. I suspect between the last part and this one you UV unwrapped the geometry? I got really messed up results when I followed this tutorial, but after marking seams and UV unwrapping this, and reapplying the image I got this to work, albeit with some odd black gridlike pattern on the texture of the railway bed towards the background. Also it often wouldn't update the image when I reapplied it. Is this what you did? If so, might be worth adding some extra comments to clarify. Thanks, Pete.

Is it necessary to have higher subdivision to prevent projection distortion? And if yes, why? As 3ds max is ok with low sub d arrangement…

Why did you set the dimension to 4096? I tried this process and I'm getting some wonky results. I'd really like to learn this. Right now, I'm using the UV and subdivision modifiers. I have a workaround for to hide the reprojected parts of the image, but this process seems cleaner.

for whatever reason when I try and project uvs in blender the projection doesn't honor my x/y shift, making it hard to use cropped images or images from tilt shift pictures
