@@ilovegorevids EVERY song? I think that if you're a fan of his first album (like me), songs like Suspended, Jonathan L. Seagull and Dancing Circles work really well. Wasn't the biggest fan on first listen, but it grew on me immensely
So glad you guys covered this. Definitely my AOTY so far, Sampha made that 6 year wait worth it and exceeded the extremely high expectations everyone had for it. Generational artist 🐐
Imo it is definitely the album of the year. Somehow it managed to meet the expectations and surpass his previous album. I'm glad you and your dad liked it
I've only just discovered you two, having watched your reactions to Mr Morale and now this. When one of you says "two years" of being on a journey listening to music, a heavy fact dawns on me: I have two whole years' worth of your content, and new music, to expose myself to. Your voices themselves are really satisfying to listen to, if nothing else. Looking forward to diving deep into your channel - thank you for sharing your journey with all of us.
i genuinely had this album on repeat for an entire week after it released. one of the most well put together and beautiful albums i have heard in my entire life😭
EASILY my album of the year! It has been well worth the wait. Sampha has a very unique and personal sound that has been meticulously crafted and his lyricism is at an extremely high level. I love the incorporation and usage of Jonathan L. Seagull throughout the album and tracks such as Suspended, Dancing Circles and Jonathan L. Seagull couldn't have been made by anyone but Sampha himself. This album will be looked upon as a classic in a decade.
AOTY, it's even better than Process. When i heard the incessant, techno inspired droning high pitch sound on the background on the buildup of Can't Go Back alongside the pulsating percussion before the breakbeat section, the bossanova flourishes on Evidence, or the 2 swooping string notes he uses on Jonathan L.Seagull only once in the entire song at the 1:45 mark, i knew it was confirmation that he truly is an artist of a singular mind.
Sampha has been one of my favorite artists for years now. The way Sampha flawlessly switches from piano to electronic gets me every time. It's so smooth. And his voice is golden. My first introduction was the work he did with SBTRKT.
I love that you mentioned walking and feeling connected. I used to walk around listening to Process and it's something about his voice. I love this album so far! Makes me feel the same way. I hope he blows up more - he deserves it. More people need to know about his music!
Some of my favorite moments in this album is the transitions between Spirit 2.0 and Dancing Circles, and Suspended to Satellite Business. Sampha outdid himself on this one
Sampha's vouce is so refreshing amongst all the strong and powerful, great voices. His is so smooth and yet, confident and whispy, like powdered sugar or flour, and doesn't necessarily need music to harmonize with, as his voice can very easily merge with many genres and their slow or softer beats, or raw instruments, esp Jazz mixes or an acoustic set.
I simply love sampha, in a world where music has become this overssaturated and commercialised, it's always refreshing to see someone do it for the love of making music. you don't really see too many artists like that
Guyyys, such a great channel, and so glad you went through Sampha's record. I also have some strong feelings because of the formula you've chosen, I mean "Dad listens to..." I don't think that I'm the only one here but having lost my Dad who was all about music and gave it to me, to watch your Dad listen and talk and get excited about music is a bit like a substitution for having this interaction with mine who is no longer here physically. Love what you do here, great job
Farther Time was my favourite song from last year and got me so hyped for this album. Safe to say it lived up to the hype undoubtedly one of the best albums of the year.
Really glad you both enjoy this album! As soon as a I heard it for the first time, I knew it had the spot for my AOTY. Sampha delivered and if it takes 5+ years for him to create a fantastic project like this, so be it.
This was such a huge musical piece of my year, definitely something I was incredibly looking forward to. It’s really cool to see people share that excitement for this album too! Excited to see him on tour
I can’t wait for Kevin to hear wolf. I see the vinyl in the back and it just reminded me of the rest of the shit he could hear that most reactors don’t listen to. Owl pharaoh, wolf, cherry bomb, goblin, And most mixtapes
This is an incredible album and I'm so glad we got it. The drums are amazing, love your dad's reaction. Saw him on Monday night and it was such an unbelievable show. Sampha is the real deal, and one of those once-in-a-lifetime artists.
Love this album, and love your reaction as always! I would also love if you reacted to Janelle Monáe - Archandroid, one of my fav's and I feel like that would be up Kev's alley. Keep up the good work!
I really enjoyed this, thank you. Sampha is special and yet incredibly underrated. Is D'Angelo's Voodoo also eligible for review? The bassist on that was Pino Palladino and I see his kids are collaborating with Sampha and Yussef Dayes.
Awesome video and amazing album! My favorite track is dancing circles because it’s just so warm and nostalgic. It brings me back to a school trip to London where I first really got into his debut album and the song just feels so much like a London night
You guys have to react to Daniel caesars album from this year, your dad will love the live instrumentation throughout the Blum and I think it’s one of the best albums of the year with some of the best songs, I hope you’s can get round to it because yous will love it
That’s just not true. All of these albums are critically acclaimed and I do not hear people shut up about scaring and let’s start here, at least in music circles; and rightly so, great albums, but that’s simply not true.
@@fettywapsmissingeye I think it DEFINITELY depends where you look. In internet music culture, absolutely, I hear those talked about all the time. Like truly constantly, and they do deserve their praise, I love them both, but I think in person they really do not get much love. Most of the people I know haven't even heard of those albums, they've been mostly talking about Stick Season and UTOPIA (both of which are also very good albums). I think the latest Lana Del Ray and Zach Bryan records get talked about quite a bit as well, but not by people I'm close to.
I'm absolutely loving this album, thank you for the video. I'm currently listening to GoGo Penguin after hearing it mentioned in the video and I can't stop playing Saturnine! Awesome band.
Just finished the streak of Radiohead reviews and came to the most recent video to suggest the album from “The Mars Volta” named “Bedlam in Goliath” Love what you do and the bond y’all have, nice to see
I think you should show your Dad The Never Story by JID, I think he would enjoy it a lot especially since he enjoyed the forever story. It's one of my favorite albums in general
Little random, but I think you guys should react to Swans. Even though most of their albums are super long, i believe that they have released some of the best music out there, and you would definitely appreciate it, if not love it. Also, I know it's very different in comparison to most of the albums that you have reacted to, but they are definitely worth it.
Productionwise this is definitely contender for aoty. I really liked the 6lack album aswell could you guys maybe cover some of his work, east atlanta love letters is a must

Mine also, it is such a good song!
Got a remix and it’s incredible

yeah same, definitely aoty. production was some of the most original sounding and beautiful production i have heard in awhile💯
hello jah love ur videos
Yoooo the 🐐
Hey jah! Much love to you and turning tables
One of the best albums i've heard in YEARS. Such an emotional, cathartic, celestial, and healing album.
Imo it is definitely the album of the year. Somehow it managed to meet the expectations and surpass his previous album. I'm glad you and your dad liked it
cant blame you for that. its up there for sure
The only two albums i would place above Lahai this year are We buy diabetic test strips and Maps

I would be completely fine with sampha taking another 5 years to drop again just because of how good every release of his is.
Seeing him last night in Toronto and how he played all the songs live was amazing. One of the best albums of the year for sure.
I saw him in Chicago and it was easily one of the best performances I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing!
Saw him tonight absolutely unreal
@@IVVTTI was there too, he was amazing, playing through those issues with the speakers was class
i am devastated that i wasn't there, hope it was everything that you hoped for :)
I need to hear suspended live
So funny yall mentioned Yussef Dayes as he wrote/performed drums on several tracks on the album including “Spirit 2.0”
this album just makes you ascend
it keeps you suspended
Seeing Wolf in the background is giving me a whole lot of hope I don't need
