"The first time i heard it i was like alright i need to hear that again, the second time i heard it i feel like id known it my whole life" - this really is the description of a classic album, and I couldn't agree more with Zane on this take.
It's quite interesting how Zane's energy differs per interview, depending on the sitter. In his interview with Pink Pantheress, we see a completely different Zane - his style is more banter-ish, with only minimal attention paid to Pink's music. They feel like old mates simply catching up over a drink. With Sampha, there's a more contemplative, pensive, almost sacred tone - a lot of palpable admiration and respect.
I have never wanted to talk to an artist more than Sampha. This interview made a million and one questions pop up in my head! At any rate, the way he communicates through music is in itself a gift and I feel lucky to be alive to enjoy it ❤ Thank you so much Sampha
Sampha never disappoints. For years, I've been leaning on his music and thanks to this album we now have Only and Suspended to play on repeat until the end of time!
Without overwhelming Sampha, Lahai is truly extraterrestrial. I’ve never appreciated music on this level before. I have an intense love for it and my standards for what I consider good music has skyrocketed. I got to see him in Miami and the energy and combination with the weather had me in a trance. Even the choice of venue; the shape of the building/stage was ethereal. Sampha is so special. I hope he doesn’t make us wait another 4-5 years.
His voice in this interview reminds me a little bit of Benjamin Clementine! Speaking of - a collab album from the two of them would be ABSOLUTELY CRAAAAAZY
Always have loved Sampha really great artist. Amazing talent amazing voice. I’m going to be honest there has been a lot of artists Drake has introduced me to like I didn’t know about Sampha, Tems, Yebba and others until I heard them on his albums now I love them all. Especially Sampha.
Few artists today have really paved their own path in the way sampha has. It feels like every choice he makes in his music is so unique, and could never be replicated. There’s no one who has that sound or style. Personally, his music is like a break from the rest of the world.
Zane, much respect sir! Humbly, with no intent to disrespect, for artist like Sampha who are so rare in appearances, it be much more meaningful to audience to let them carry the convo where they’d like and to refrain from speaking for /assuming their positions on work and culture. Great interview, but I walked away understanding more about you than the legendary Sampha
@@1hermano i'm know its a sample. but the title suggested there's a whole conversation about it. and i cant find anything more than 1 minute if it being mentioned.
22:00 I kind of disagree a little. I feel like it’s super raw and emotional to write a song on piano or with an instrument. Sometimes you have to scale it back from all the fancy production.
Great interview but terrible interviewer, i came to watch the interview for Sampha to hear what he has to say but it felt like i heard the interviewer talk for more than 60% of the interview. It's like bro you are not that interesting. Tbh they could replace him and i wouldn't even notice it.
The most necessary music interview of this generation. 🙏🏾
He really has one of the smoothest singing and speaking voices. He has a low voice but such a bright tone
Serene. Thoughtful. Contemplative. Sampha, the artist, is a lot like his art.

Legend. Finally getting to hear an extended interview with him. AOTY candidate right here
Truly! Probably in my top 3 rotations already!
you can take the word "candidate" out
A beautiful spirit, energy and soul . Such a gifted multi music creator and manifest. Grateful to hear from Sampha.
Sampha is one of this era's musical geniuses tbh. An *unmatched* musician/ creator!
One of the greatest artists of all time in my opinion, such a creative genius. Absolutely loved Lahai

How did you not talk about Jonathan L. Seagull

When I heard Sampha Too Much with that melodic piano & Drake introspective verses I knew this a generational artist.
You should def listen to samphas extended version of too much. Absolutely beautiful.
What a guy! Most humble guy in the world
Do they talk about one of the best songs ever made "Saint Pablo"? Would love to hear the creative process ye and sampha sessions!!!
personally not surprised that there’s no Kanye discourse given recent events. that song is phenomenal though, one of my favs ever
man this guy has such a pure energy cant help but sit in awe
man so good, how did they not mention Jonathan…need to hear more about it.
Would've loved to hear more about the process behind 'Jonathan L. Seagull', contender for SOTY for me. Still a great interview tho!
I heard him sing live in Chicago and I love him soo much ❤

This guys is mad talented. The album Lahai is a masterpiece
His music is power
One of the few interviewers that genuinely cares about the music
I have always waited for this interview, it feels like manifestation

That intro by Zane was like taking the words out of my mouth. Album of the year for me.

He’s extremely talented and beautiful.
Love his artistry❤🎉🎉
love
Wish he let Sampha explain his thinking instead of just going over his own interpretation
Phenomenal interviewer! Look what happens when you give a hoot about the artist!
Saw him last night in Atlanta on tour! It was magical ✨✨✨
did you get any good videos?
@@juano.9280 I did. I’ll try to upload them!
i was waiting for this
I feel him. I loved his album too
Love this man’s hair
thanks 💫 beautiful !
i need to see that slide
I think it might be the ones in Victoria Park! The zig-zaggy one is a death trap 😀
lovely interview!
Zane is such a goated interviewer
lol I agree w/ Zane about making beats being more fun. though the songwriting/piano thing can be more cathartic emotionally
yes!!!!
Love Sampha but Zane has to speak less and let the guest speak more
Great Interview 🙏♥️
I love him
I love this man
Ears open words spoken
Where does he talk about ‘Too Much’ ?
❤❤❤❤❤
Love from Germany 🇩🇪 ❤
when does he mention Too Much??? this has always been hands down my favorite Drake song. i love Drake but clearly Sampha made that song great
Its a sample. OG version Sampha - Too much is wayyy better imo
@@1hermano i'm know its a sample. but the title suggested there's a whole conversation about it. and i cant find anything more than 1 minute if it being mentioned.
Finally.
❤
damn an interview by steve jobs himself
Goat
man like Blake
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Anyone know the microphones they are using here?
YESSSSSS i was praying for this to happen
💆🏾♂️
Time stamp for the drake part?
just found it. 6:20
that cant be all that is said about it tho.. it literally just a mention of the song. that doest justify the video title
Agree, @@johnnyhanel, and there's usually an extended version on Apple Music's website but not this time round.
@@johnnyhanelThey REALLY wanted an excuse to mention his name lmao
@@alecadabra_ they nasty for that clickbait lol
Whats the live show they were talking about?
He ran a small tour called Satellite Business where he played a few shows before the release of the album. Now he moving onto the proper album tour
These Microphones sound much better than a Sony SM7B.
What mics are they using?

Did this mf Zane Lowe just call synth arpeggios AI? 😂
🎲🐍🎲
I know he has a low voice but the sound is really off on this
🙃
Zane Lowe calling Synth Sounds / Presets 'AI Tools' is just soo... unneecessary
Favorite song to whoever reads this?
Mine is "Can't go back."
“Only” and “What If You Hypnotise Me?”
Jonathan L. Seagull and Evidence
Also Can't go back & Jonathan L. Seagull
What If You Hypnotise Me and Suspended

Zane talks to much
The English Childish Gambino.
nope, he’s sampha. and that’s enough.
