Nice to see a "true" stock engine being used. So many people say stock when in reality they added after market heads, cams, etc. the only thing left that is stock is the block.
My blazer has a 4.3 stock block forged internals boosted with twin 76 mm turbonectics rear mounted turbos on 14 to 16 psi I made 448 on 12 psi could have went more but need Injectors and msd box for 2 step and line lok but still fun and AWD to ...using Hptuners has helped get map and fuel figured out along boost increase.and fuel management
How did you convert it to awd did you use the 90s astro parts that came awd or? Trying to maybe make my S10 AWD been trying to figure out a good way to do it
@@dustinwarren9130some blazers came in 4x4
Oldsmobile(being GM still) made a chevy blazer/gmc jimmy look-alike called the bravada. It came with a "smarttrak" system that controlled a transfer case (like a 4wd) into going from 2wd, into awd automatically. Giving better traction when needed. Was great for older fold up north in the snow or lived down dirt roads. They could get in it and forget it. My boss has one 190k still running.
My point was they use these transfer case in replacement of the 4x4 t case bolt right in I would assume. I haven't done much research on the topic specifically but I've seen guys do it.
Ext Astro transmission/Bravada have the 700 with the Borg Warner BW1372 BW4472 AWD Transfer Case. Worked at a performance transmission shop that specialized in these and Silverado SS transmission 16 years back.
Jesus H Christ! That lil 4.3 must be sweatin 😅 where are you going for performance parts? Or do you fab parts yourself/have them made?
Hi...I am situated in Norway and I am building a similar engine for my s10 and would like to thank you for your great videos...they really keep me hyped for our little 4.3 motors...keep up the great work.
You have s10s.in Norway?
S10 in Norway ? That’s dope man
Dude you are super thorough and honest, dig it! 🤘🏻🤙🏻
Rad!! Great job. Look forward to future updates
Hell yeah buddy that's awesome. I think that's pretty impressive for a stock 4.3 with boost. I can't wait to see what kind of power you will make if and when you build a 4.3 and put that turbo on it lol should be awesome. Love that intake love that rad support btw
Outstanding !!
4.3 has so much to offer and slowly coming out to show its potential.
Keep videos coming . I’m confident they can make 400-450 street tune
And the right turbo/turbos
Just got my 04 4.3l blazer and so far you've been the absolute best in terms of video quality thanks for the help man everyone else sucks
Taking the road less traveled!! Keep it going man.
Great work of art love the the hole thing
Very nice dyno numbers too man.
Love your content!
Good numbers man ! 🤘🏻
Love the truck I have a 86 Toyota pickup but the motor is a 94 4.3 with modified 87 heads and Edlebrock intake and carb and hand made headers. It's a fresh build, it's a daily so can't wait to see how it runs
sweet build bro
I had a 96 gmc sonoma with a weak 175hp rated 4.3. I installed a cam (dont remember the specs) and some head work with bigger intake/exhaust valves. It really woke that engine up i could not believe the difference it made in power. Head flow is the limitig factor, was disappointed your new intake manifold didnt provide better numbers. It was all limited by head airflow.
Nice job !
Nice work
Very impressive 👍
Just got a s10 as my first truck and can’t wait to start the mods
Valve spring upgrade and porting on heads will net you better power for sure! I think with higher lift cam also you will see massive power upgrade! The intake manifold then I turn with more airflow will benefit!!
I recently saw a slightly larger cam 202@ .050 with less than a 6262 turbo make 650 hp & 750 lbs.ft.
I'm sure you already figured this out by now, but yes, it's 💯 your camshaft. I so want to do an AWD version of this
Hi Brandon 👋 👋 👋 👋 just wanted to say your Dino test I thought was very good. Just think your blazing new trials with what your doing with the 4.3 I just wish GM or some of the after market people would of done more. Anyway going now thanks Ray in Idaho
Sick!!!
Definitely agree that cam is your limiting factor. If you could keep the same torque for another 1000rpm, it should be closer to 430-450whp, if it doesn't pick up even more from the airflow.
I love the GM 4.3
Better too rich than too lean.
I am impressed by the intake manifold and the numbers you got. I have an 03 ZR/2 and I'd be happy with 300 WHP. There just isn't much you can by for these engines, performance wise. I'd ove to go aluminum heads and manifold just for the weight savings, but can't find any.
never thought something with 190hp stock could push 400+hp
Cam would add 40-50 na maybe 100 boosted. But heads are a bottle eck too
Man! If you do some head work and a cam change, LOOK OUT!!!! Nice job so far though. I’m definitely impressed. I have a 91 S10 with the 4.3 . Not sure what direction I’m going yet but this gives me some great ideas. Thank man , keep’m coming please 👍🏾👍🏾
Vortec heads are pretty darn good from the factory. It's the cam that's really holding him back.
Will be joining the Turbo 4.3L club soon
very interesting, so many questions. i have a 97 with many engine mods on the stock bottom end. and a intercooled Vortech V2-SQ blowing 16'ish psi.
Made 470whp with my V2-SQ at 15psi with other mods. It was being over spun at those levels big time.
Dam looks like the stock engine it loving It.
I'm from Texas and I have built my 4.3 heavily. In kept the stock camshaft and modded everything else. The camshaft is not the problem. You need to do some porting on both sides and you will see improvement.
when you get some time, maybe make a video on your tunning setup.. ie: ehat tuner, softeware, controller etc you ned/use too tweak' 4.3 gms.. the cost, time to setup, the laerning curve.. and what all intails too buy a tunner, plugs, hookup, start tunning.. and what and were you tune the most with the tuner for boost, other 4.3 related tunning stuff with some basic how too get started.. Ive been around tunning, like ford tweecer, moates quarter horse, etc w/ fords ..but i dont know anything about gm;s.. keep the videos comming love it.. in process od boostin a 03 4.3 5spd in a 1500.. but not sure were what way too go for tunning..
I'm a little late to your work. But very inspired. What would it take to get one of those headers sets built for my truck. And one of those intake manifolds very very cool stuff
Love it, just got the last bit of parts in for my 4.3 turbo s10 to be done. 👍👍👍 great info, ibseen the 18ish degs at 19psi but how much timing are you running at 8 to 10 psi??
20-22 but I haven't really tested much at that low of boost.
Wish there were more tbi boost related videos thinking about doing it to my 4.3.
Oh shit you got a RUclips? Been following you for a while on Instagram and never knew you uploaded videos of the build too.
This is why I bought a 2016 F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost.
I've heard from asking when I was thinking of building mine is the cam is a major bottleneck in power I would change that out and take it back to the dyno and see what kinda power you make then keep it up bro
This seems like it would be a killer app for a jet boat
Dang man at least a cam would of given more power and is The Best Mod other than Boost lol. Loving this build can't wait. Also better flowing heads will optimize performance with cam and springs.
Be interesting to see the flow bench numbers on the marine manifold compared to your new modified manifold.
Yo great video I have a question where did you get the intake manifold???
time for a cam and springs brother!
Stock cam and valve float in the upper RPM range.
It's nice to seeV 6 engines finally getting their 15 minutes of Fame, especially pushrod engines.
Solid numbers for a stock 4.3, the tiny stock cam is killing it!
At the 401@19 psi, what did you have the timing set at?
Don’t remember exactly, probably in the high teens
This was @ the wheels. The engine was probably making 460 hp.
@@turbov6 hello do you have a part number on the torque converter you are using
Finally found someone with my same passion for vortec engines....I'm building a 2002 4×4 blazer and need something like that, mine is factory as well!!!! Recommend what should I start with please!!!👌
Mais um inscrito
Do have any info on the install of that aluminum core support? Thought about getting one for my '01 ls swap s10 project.
It needs a cam and stronger rods big heads too
I got a 1986 Buick regal TTWH1 Gn1 stage one heads 3 inch downpipe port stock intake hydraulic roller cam 212 212 60 pound injectors H beam rods forged pistons molly ring 6262 ball bearing turbo I’m not running E85 but I’m running the 50-50 water by Aen methanol injection Holly LS coil Hot wire kit 340 Walbro fuel pump Shift kit 3000 converter 650 horses rear wheels
The 4.3 is definitely worth turbo'ing. Since it's a cast iron block, the bottom end can handle the power unlike the modern aluminum junk engines
Interested in what bed cover that is
Rain guards are a must in an s truck. I spray a stock 230k mile 4.3 with a 125 shot no problem lol. . I’ve put probably 30 10lb bottles though it. Dry shot
How long did it end up putting up with this 🤣 got a 270k miles 4.3 debating having some fun with
@@itspickle6664 I blew the 7.5” rear end. The Motor still purs like a kitten. It’ll take that slow 4.3 and light the tires up from a dig lol. I’d spray it the moment my foot hit the floor. I put the nozzle about 4” from the TB.. from what I read the further away kinda softens the hit so to speak. 🤷🏼♂️
Why dont you have the window vents on there? I can roll my window down 2 to 3 inches in my Typhoon in the rain and not get wet.
The heads only flow so much air. Gotta work those to really get anywhere. But then the snowball starts rolling... lol
i have a questioin, from your knowledge, will a vortec 4.3l work ina 93 sonoma with a regular 4.3l with a tbi. i mean as far as computer and stuff like that.
I have a s10 with rear mount turbo . Had a few tuning questions for ya if you ever have the chance
What turbo kit did you use? Love the build man!!
Custom
I’m buying an s10 v6 single cab next week . Want it to have a bit more balls before turbo what should I do that also isn’t going to break the bank also it’s going to be a daily with or without turbo
401 wow nice work
I would like to see you race a f150 eco boost about the same hp
Those things have alot more technology giving them much better boost response as well as torque curve.
Hey love the truck! What radiator support is that?
I made it
Nice build. I think you’re just not revving high enough on the stock cam/springs to take advantage of your new intake setup. The marine parts for these engines work quite well on stock blocks up to ~5000 RPM but if you were to take it higher with a bigger cam I believe the new intake would have picked up power. Regardless it’s making good numbers for a bone stock 4.3.
I've been searching which kit to use for a Direct Ignition System conversion, but everything is for V8s. Did you cut the cables it came with the kit to make it a "6 cylinder" kit? All I found was the MSG one. Thanks in advance!
Hi, i Also have a s10 v6 here in Brazil, my project is to install a turbo but, overhere is very hard to find the pieces and too expensive, i watched all your vídeos building your s10, v
Hey what do you use as tuning software? is that the Stock EU? If so I would like to know what you use. I'm going to be doing a Boost Build on my S-10 soon.
Looks like he is using HP Tuners.
@@ericbrenner690 Awesome, Thank you.
Would the 4200 fit in that thing? Or would you have to get a Colorado?
Great build .what kind of torque converter .
It’s an eBay 2800 stall
Watched this a few times. Came back. Just watched a 2jz with 6 speed on chassis dyno. Made 420 @19 lbs boost. And you have an auto. So this is a great number considering how "legendary" the 2jz is. Good job
Must have been bad tune or something going on those supras make power
@@BlackandWhitecustoms yea. With a lot of boost
@@manworksgarage wouldn't take very much for a 2jz to hit 500 HP. Not taking nothing away from his build it's very impressive but in no way can you compare a 2jz to a 4.3. The 2jz at 500 HP will last forever but 4.3 stock is a ticking time bomb at 500
@BlackandWhitecustoms I agree with that. I was just comparing 20lb vs 20lbs. Impressed the 4.3 was at same 420 whp. With an auto vs a manual at that. Obviously the 2jz is smaller gonna need more boost but it's got a probably much better head plus vvti.
@BlackandWhitecustoms found a dyno video. 2jz with th400. 499 at wheels 27 psi. Now 27 may blow up the 4.3. Idk. But it's pretty stock. I don't agree the 2jz is so much better than other engines. 500 I a lot more than the original 300 to 326. So it will always take a toll. It's a rather small engine.
Are you feeding your turbo from all 6 exhaust ports?
Your forcing air in the intake doesn't matter unless it has a huge restriction. The cylinder heads are the worst thing if I could find some good heads for my 4.3 vortec I'd bet that alone could make noticable power gains. Forcing air in isn't really an issue you need to improve the exhaust ports on the heads.
you ever going to put a cam in it? there's a company called Delta Camshafts that does regrinds and they have been around since 1977.
You need a lot more camshaft my guy 😁
Truck sounds good. but it does sound like your torque converter is tight. it revs very linear. jmo
You know what cam I can put in a 4.3 08?
I hope that you're not funding a dual turbo setup, big turbos need all the exhaust energy when using a big turbo. That applies for 5.3 too.
if you don't gap those piston rings you may blow up the engine over boosting.
I want that intake manifold you’re using, can you help me, I’m on a fully built long block
I have a 2021 Silverado with the 4.3L V6 and would love to have a turbo installed on it. Is this a possibility? Not sure about the differences in the generations of 4.3Ls. I just want more power to improve street drivability, not looking to race it. What can you tell me about the possibilities?
Hey man watch Dickey scoggins 4.3 shootout. It’s the newer gen 4.3 and made 600+ hp on a turbo and a stage two came and some race gas you should check it out planning on doing this in my 4.3 next year
Whatch Scoggin Dickie Chevrolet video on the 4.3
What would 400 wheel be at the crank? 460-500? That auto is a 4l60e and might be the first thing to go. I'd like to see some porting, cam and springs and a bump up in compression then take it to 600 wheel. If a good crank is available and you forge the bottom you should be ale to run 1000 hp or close to it. But you will need a built turbo 400 and a beefier 3rd member. I would like to see you find the breaking point of the stock short block when you are ready to build the bottom. I think V6's can handle as much as V8's because they are more compact. We used to hit Ford 3.8's with a lot of boost or N20 and they held up to about 800 hp. Where as the 4.6 would break the block at 450 to 500. Love watching this. Keep going.
Yeah probably close to 500 crank would be my guess.
So you want him to break all his stuff and report back to ya... ???
@@superkillr You weren't paying attention. Only if he is going to build a new forged bottom. Then give it a big bang to see how much the stock short block can handle. I think if he opens the ring gap, it will handle a lot more than we think. Just don't over rev her.
Nice video. I'm guessing the stock V6 Vortec heads is where the most power could be had. There isn't really much out there in the aftermarket for the 4.3L V6 other than Brodix has some heads for it. I'm not sure about cams and intakes. You could do some good porting on those heads and get great gains over the stock flow. I think I read somewhere that someone (Hot Rod?) did some flowbench testing and the gains were significant but compared to aftermarket V8 heads, they we're low.
Keep plugging along. Nice to see the 4.3L get some recognition for a power build. Oh, and PowerNation has a 4.3L build going on right now that you might be able to snag some ideas from.
There is a company down there somewhere that builds these 4.3 for some circle racing or somthing like that they do the heads right up. Might be worth talking to them unless he is going to do the machine work himself.... I saved the video I could try to find it and post the link....
Here is the link to MotorTrend which, I think, Hot Rod did. www.motortrend.com/how-to/chevy-43l-262ci-v6-engine-build/
There's everything you need and ready and available on the market
What are the specs of your fuel delivery, if stock pump and injectors then that’s impressive but I need to know, building a turbo Jimmy.
Walbro 450 pump and ID1050x injectors
Hey man I got a question how did you run actually fuel injectors in the 4.3 and avoid the spyder injection
Custom intake manifold, check out my other videos
Did the intake in the video look like what you run? Did you see the fuel rails? Did you actually watch the video??
Stock rear, trans?? and what TC??
Definitely need a cam and valve springs.
Bro please respond. You have inspired me to build something
Can you help me make this intake manifold, I’ve got a built long block ??
Where did you get rhea intake at for your motor
He cut up a v8 intake and welded it back together. He has a series of videos on how he did it.
I got a fully stock 4.3 in a 97 jimmy, 270k miles and it’s painful slow I wanna wake it up a bit without spending a ton of money don’t want anything crazy just enough that i don’t feel like a civic 🫡 anyone got any suggestions?
Do you know if the rings were gaped and what was the gap
Don't know. I never opened it up
Where you got it dynoed do they do tunes as well
C J Rombold Engine Builders and yes they do tuning
Wait did you compare the rods to a gen 3 LS lol…this has sbc rods, the weak link is the rod bolts
What tuning system you using too tune the s10
