When they come to take you down when they bring that wagon 'round
When they come to call on you and drag your poor body down
Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me
Please forget you know my name, my darling sugaree
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
You thought you was the cool fool and never could do no wrong
Had everything sewed up tight. how come you lay awake all night long
Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me
Please forget you know my name, my darling sugaree
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
Well in spite of all you gained you still had to stand out in the pouring rain
One last voice is calling you and I guess it's time you go
Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me
Please forget you know my name, my darling sugaree
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
Well shake it up now sugaree, I'll meet you at the jubilee
Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me
Please forget you know my name, my darling sugaree
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me
This has got to be the greatest cover of sugaree of all time!
it's damn true!

The best version of Sugaree ever...
This is a kick-ass jam. The dude on the guitar can flat-out tear it up.
Tina Gilbert Nope that’s Mr Paul Stacey
I'm DH for decades.. CR is my freaking hero . lol.. fkn hippie to the bone.. we love u Chris
best dead opening act I every saw, Tampa 95
@@jamesskahill323
I'm old enough and lucky enough to have seen Alman Bros open 4 them twice., also saw GD open for then 😊
That he is....a fkn hippie to the bone! And in his face, you can see that he hasn't lost one bit of his love for music. That's a happy man up on that stage.
Imagine walking into a random dive bar and seeing this performance. This would blow your mind.
I would be dancing on the table.
took. my son to see them he was 13 i was 32 now at 61 him and i both still rock with the crows,,,some of the best!!!!Ever!!!!
I'm 58 and have seen the Crowes 29 times. I had the pleasure of seeing them with all 5 of my children individually. Great memories.
I can see Jerry's smile when I hear this version!!
@@daleharris4282 that same smile he used to give Hornsby..
If this guy sings a song he puts his f/n ❤ into it true front man the best in my generation I'm 52
Never tire of this rendition absolutely inspiring
Yes
Ahhh the good ole days when people were in the moment and not having their cell phones in the air
Robinson and the boys take a Garcia classic and embellish with original riffs by every instrument and musician. I love the under stated but effective keyboards. The guitar cover is brilliant as is Chris’s vocal rendition. Our band has been studying Black Crow material from Oh Sweet Nothing to recent offerings. This is my first time having heard this cover and it is humbling how real musicianship can take someone else’s classic material and produce their own classic with it.
Of course the Garcia classic to which I referred was Sugaree. Ironically I didn’t look at who wrote “Oh Sweet Nothing;” with the lyrics, that fits but I’ve never heard their version. I thought I knew almost every VU release, pre-, post- and Nico, but that’s one l hadn’t heard. Will be searching.
Still one of the best Dead covers I’ve ever heard.
One of the best that i ever hear. And it is 2021.
I just threw my panties on stage I think. 2nd solo is a masterpiece

is just carrying on great music ❤✌🏻❤️🌼
This is solid hip-shaking magic! I wish it was 29 minutes longer.
That guitarist just shredded this song! 👍😎🇨🇦🔥

Him and the drummer are brothers. My source is some guy though. That guitar man. That guitar.
@@anthonyburnam3415 Seriously! And, sounds like a slide without a slide at around 10:10. The English! Incredible.
This is one of my go to calm down songs
Mine too. Love it
Very true.
@Lil John Townsend I understand 🌹
Lol here again😊
Having a very rough day, this is pure bliss for 10 minutes ♥️
This song could have been another 10 minutes and I would have listen to every damn bit of it!!!

Yep - like that one too. So many good versions of a great song
I was in Atlanta in 1989 and I had to take a defensive driving class at this lady's 🏠 on memorial drive and I could hear music coming from her basement. After the last class I got permission to check them out. It happened to be the black crows. I had plenty of weed with me. They invited me to a free concert at piedmont park with the Allman brothers for the reformation of marijuana laws. Legal to smoke in the park but the police were checking people on the way out. True story
I been following the GRATEFUL DEAD FOR 25 YEARS THIS IS 🔥
People like Chris, Susan, and a host of others keeping rock alive through these old favorites.
One of the best live performances I’ve heard everyone at the top of their game brilliant
Are you British? Just curious because I notice that but it's, I mean Brits lol use the word "brilliant" to express something that an American would probably call amazing. I like the word brilliant though. My DNA test said that I had 96%British heritage so I'm kind of an anglophile. Always wanted to visit England but not the castles, just little villages and pubs. I don't really agree with the concept of royalty and the fact that you British people are basically supporting them. They should sell off a few crowns and some jewelry 😉 for feeding the hungry and housing for the homeless. I suppose that I am basically a Socialist. Here in the US right now there's a big divide between the left and right. Left being the democratic party and right is the Republican party. I'm proud of being a registered tree hugger, which is supposed to be a slam on the left. I basically believe in saving as much of the environment as possible at this point. I believe in providing more tax money for education and day care for parents who need help with caregivers while they are working. Also, I think that our prison system is out of control and needs to focus more on rehabilitation and providing skills for the incarcerated to be able to rejoin society and become a contributing citizen. There's more than those things that draws me to the democratic party. I think that the Republican party has become somewhat corrupt ever since the days of George W. Bush and his Satanic sidekick Karl Rove. That was the beginning of the lowdown dirty tricks that the GOP started to use, in order to win at any cost.. I know that the Republican party used to have much more integrity back in the 70s and maybe the early 80s. But they have lost their way. I believe that fox news is a contributing factor by spreading rumors and false truths. I wish that there was a decent 3rd party to end this Mexican standoff. George Washington was 💯 right whenever he disagreed with our country having just two political parties. He predicted that it would cause the country to become divided and resentment between the two different parties. He was certainly correct with those predictions. I just wonder what he would have to say about the. USA and our political situation these days. Probably he would be appalled. I think FDR was our best president ever. He practically saved the country and our economy with the "New Deal". He was very disturbed about the sub par conditions that the American workers were being treated by large corporations. Basically, he went to the head of these corporations and in no certain terms informed them that if the workers were still being treated as unfairly as. they had been, then the company would end up without a workforce and nobody would be making any profits. The corporations finally agreed that gave American workers rights for overtime pay, health insurance and other basic human rights. Productivity returned and the worker's rights are still being the rule of law today. FDR was a very popular president and won the presidential race two times in a row. He was certainly popular enough to win a 3rd term, but the Republican party was upset about his popularity and therefore created a law which banned a president from serving three terms. It would have been a different story if it was a Republican who was popular enough to win 3 terms in a row.. Americans need to research the lack of integrity and sellouts from the Republicans and understand that even though both political parties have had negative experiences, the Republicans are willing to do anything to create a chaos and try to make themselves look like the party of morality which is ludicrous. Just remember how the Republicans bugged the Watergate Hotel so they could eavesdrop on the democratic party who were holding their campaign meetings there. Sorry for the rant, but when I get on a roll I can't seem to stop. Well, I am going outside to hug a tree and try to catch a snowflake. Lol😅
God bless youtube for having a forum for us to post, share, re-live and discover great music and performances !!!
Plus I can take apart and fix most anything now too !!!
Absolutely spot on and well said! ❤
Without a doubt, the best cover of this song I have ever heard!!! It is so tight!
Outstanding rendition of this great song. Chris is a fantastic vocalist. Guitar player is on fire.
What the swirling brain freeze was that solo. DH for 5 decades, guess Chris was since birth.. I wish I could buy the band drinks 4 life.
Id be willing to bet Jerry listens to this in Jerry afterlife..
FUCK AWESOME
As an old Head, I was very pleasantly surprised when the Black Crowes came out and toured with Mickey Hart's Mystery Box ( among other solid bands! ) after Jerry Garcia died. I felt like they truly honored the legacy of the Grateful Dead. I didn't catch THIS tour, but I'm glad to know that Chris was still giving it up with HIS band! They tear that shit UP!!!
Man, his voice is just cool. Not too smooth, not too rough, but full of soul. Well done Dead cover 👍🏾
That strat sounds great but damn, that 335 that Chris is playing is a gorgeous guitar.
Holy Shit! I just found this
And man brothers and sisters I am glad I did
(R.I.P Mr. Robert Hunter)
Chris I have been listening to you since I was a kid and I'm 41 and still listening :) Rock On!!!
That's one dirty guitar tone. It fits perfectly in this edgy version. Top marks!
The Robinson brothers just love music, they love to play all of it. They are a last of a disappearing musician.
Just One of Rock and Roll’s Greatest Bands playing their ass off for us Great Job
You can clearly see what these guys are after in life. Music. It is such a liberating and delicious feeling just to watch and hear them.
My goodness ....classic rock & roll...lead guitar has the perfect sound....could listen to this all day long.
He knows how to play good music to me
It just doesn't get any better than this one.
#ThatFeelingWhen you go to make a comment on a video and then realize you made the same comment already a month ago.
OMG!!!!!! ONE OF THE WORLDS VERY TOP ROCK N ROLL JAMS EVER!!! Love you Chris Robinson and the Black Crows!!! Love you Grateful Dead and Sugaree!!!! Awesome
Chris loves his art, he'd play just as hard if there was no one in the room to hear
I love how Chris looks so happy to be on stage and performing.😁
He wears shoes on stage now.
@Hans WAGNER he's living life on his own terms. Wgaf.
they absolutely nailed it on this one. This is THE WAY to do it.
loved the black crows.. How can you not love this.. And those guitars man.. those guitars!!
Kush Kobaine I'm diggin the 335
Kush Kobaine caught that 335 myself. Damn man just freaking great stuff
indeed
Every great group or band has one, the sound and tone is second to none. The 335 just adds to the strat and makes a beautiful sound.
Its gonna be very hard to find a better version then this!! Holy Shit this bands on fire!!
Chris Robinson is the best
this is the definitive version of this song, NO DISCUSSION, PEACE OUT
Except that the definition is the greatful dead, Chris would agree.
Jerry Garcia did a pretty good version too or so I’ve heard 🤪

Can't stop listening to this, such a cool vibe. Calms me down en gets me so chill every time. Really love this!
That is Neil Casey playing the guitar 🎸. So sad we will never hear it again.
Paul Stacey is on lead guitar! He has worked with Chris on many projects. He is, indeed fantasticlly talented. His brother Jeremy Stacey is on the drums! More people should really know who theses two amazing musicians are!
it makes me want to cry. that is all.
Chris and Paul have a feeling for music that is so natural and lovely.
Great music people, unlike all the shitty stars of one-day hit.
occhioallallocco I could not agree more. Doesn't that suck?! No talent gets all the money, I call BS!
I agree more people should know who they are...but at the same time hearing this on the radio 24/7 always ruins even good song's like this one
They are well known in the UK as they are British!
@Tina Gilbert Of course they are! But the very talented Paul and Jeremy Stacey are Brits.
Best Dead Cover Ever. Period. Every time I listen to this I just "smile, smile, smile" Soooo Good.
I was coming out of my seat while driving. So good!
YES!!!
I had to listen twice
I just listen to it on repeat & never get tired of it.
The Dead took Shake Sugaree by Elizabeth Cotten and made it their own. Check out the original!!
This is just amazing guitar work came across this video while searching for new music I love it
Seriously. Paul Stacey. English. Brilliant.
This version of Sugaree would make Jerry proud! Thanks for sharing. Amazing!!!
On point🤘🏻✌🏻
Ohh yesyes
This never get's old, will still be played when we're long gone. Love these guys
Chris Robinson is a god. My husband turned me onto the non-radio songs. love him for that. I'm a music freak amueay but since he had me delve into all the crowds stuff. I now believe they are THE best rock band ever! And I'm 45 yrs old & have seen enough!! love u guys!!!
Chris' voice has aged well - I don't know that he could've done this in the 90s. I had this version playing in my truck a few weeks ago when my wife (who is more of a country fan) says "Man, this version's got a lot of soul, who is this?" If my wife notices the soul, then there's a lotta soul.
:D
I seen Doyle perform with Clapton last year. Great performance by the whole Band
One of my most favorite Chris bands of all time, his music means everything to me, have mercy baby.
There’s just not much real music out there and I’m starting to think I might be dying. I get to see Circles around the sun twice in March and then JJ Grey twice. New Crowes tour, was so freaking excited, but nothing around here 😭
wow that dude on the white strat OMG sounds so very excellent
I think this is the best sugaree ever dam it is exciting as hell!
Saw the Crowes shortly after 9 11 at the Beacon in Manhattan. Will never forget the tranquility of the city and how the band embraced the moment and brought healing vibes to NYC.
On point! This is such a killer version, dang!
Let's all not forget Mr. George Reiff on Bass & keep him in our prayers! We love you George, get better soon!
That sweet man. I miss him so.
Best version ever! I'd love to be able to play this without going to RUclips. Nothing gets me to chill like this tune ❤
This my be the greatest thing I have ever heard! Can't get the smile off my face right now!
my wife can tell when I've been listening to the Black Crows because my cheeks are streaked with tears. I love those Robinson boys. What can I say?
agreed, this is Not The Black Crowes though, it's New Earth Mud
I think your posting your feelings to a wrong place.
Great cover. That slinger with Chris is unknown to me. The lead guitar in this video seems to know some down home hot licks after all. Damn, he almost made me cry. Love the Dead, love the crows. What a treat. Thank you, thank you, thank you
His name was Neal Cassal. He was with Chris Robinson for most of his solo career. He committed suicide in 2019 and it was a very sad day for all Chris Robinson fans.
Paul Stacey
@@Otis-Isom Neal Casal played with CR but that’s a different guy (apparently Paul Stacey)
I'm a new fan, I found this by total accident. Funny thing he played at a blues festival in Santa Cruz, Ca. today. I didn't go because I didn't know his name! Damn!! I love this!! I would have gone in a heart beat!
TheSparky5363 CR's ego will be crushed if he reads someone didn't know his name!
This old dog just can't get enough of this and "oh sweet nuthin" amongst other top toons.
Off to feed my 2 magpies!
Really good cover of this G.D classic, it's both bold and very engaging.
It would be fun to see tunes from say late nineties with full band intact , Chris , Rich , Marc Ford !
I watch this video and sweet Nuthin with rich Robinson singing lead instead of Chris. Chris Robinson has a great voice too.
Holy 6 string explosion of melodic jams!! If this song doesn't make you at least tap your foot, then you can't have a pulse
Chris is one great rock singer ! A good tune is this ...
Absolutely the best cover of any song PERIOD
That is Paul Stacey on Guitar... Produced Chris' New Earth Mud records and jammed with The Crowes too. There are some realy tasty recordings of these two from the 2000's... I attended a bunch of great gigs during that time...
Paul's british blues style, and general guitar brilliance was so cool, and especially present here on this version of Sugaree...
right on, thanks for the nuggets!
Jam Camp told my wife man I been looking for this great, slippery, dangerous blues lead guitar player that was playing with Chris at El Ray. Glad to learn his name cause the mans heart is in the right place. Everybody too. That bass player ain't no slouch him damn self. Stacey got my attention tell ya that.
Paul Stacey. I've been trying to find out who the heck he is and where he came from for 2 weeks.
So...
thnx!☠
Jam Camp: his brothers a killer drummer - played with Sheryl Crow and many others..
Phil cilia Oasis!
This is how he sang in the early days. The real Chris voice. Nice to hear it again. Known him since he was 17 or so... long time singing to get here...
This made my day. Yall be safe. Yeah, I'm from the South. Tenn. Yall drop by, we'll sit on the porch a spell.
@Wallace Simps0n Keep'em straight up there in the Big Apple Wallace. Take care bro.
They do a fantastic version of Lou Reed/Velvet Underground's song Sweet Nuthin with Rich Robinson singing lead instead of Chris Robinson. I didn't even know that Rich could sing so well. Check it out.
I don't get how 266 individuals could have made the choice to not like this. I mean, not friggin' LOVE this???
coolest thing i saw in a long time, saw jerry lots and that rocked!
Pure badass rock and roll!!! This is what damn good music sounds like folks!!!!👏👏👏👏👏
Those guys were having every bit as much fun as the audience was. I love it when the cameraman focuses clear shots of the fretboard. There is no greater learning tool for me and it's such a rush to play along with a video it's almost better than sex. Sometimes it's even better.
Just bought a Telecaster. Can't wait until I'm good enough to do that.
Chris Robinson is Just a Genius!
Never heard better. The man is a great talent 😊
best thing of this video is no one live knows how awesome it was
I can rock the harp like John popper, just, wish I could sing like you bro, you the best fuck all the rest, so I twist one up fa you and the guys and over my best Shine straight outta the mountains of Virginia I salute ya bro keep on keeping on .
They call this: blowing the roof off the joint
That’s Right!
Man, I did not want that to end. Well done
An outstanding version ...
I love his voice so much. Just classic!
Brilliant voice! Chris is best 🤙🤙 soulful as always! God bless 🙏
best version of this song!!!!
Best cover ever I'm GDF AND THIS IS 🔥
This video never gets old!! I watch it pretty much everyday
Been watching this one for a few years now and I keep coming back for more
I keep coming back to this incredible performance - every single part is performed at such feel and skill. And the lead guitarist is just awesome. Love it!
Shake it sugary I have been looking for this version in my mind
Holy cow this is an EPIC cover. Shred on, and you know Jerry is smiling down seeing this!
Its probably in my every other day rotation... ❤
Too funny , I get hooked and can’t get this out of head .
