First time i ever heard this song was in a Jam session with a great friend and mentor of mine. Been coming back to this song every time i need to sit back and let life take its course. Im 21, Drums are my life, Rock n Roll my first love. Dont know what life has for me yet, letting life take the wheel. peace and love.

You can never know what it's like to be 1500 miles from home, with a $1.50 in your pocket, playing a set of 9-Ball for $500, until you do it.. The road, man... A special time in my life.. Great Song (I wore out this tape on the road, in 1995)..

I grew up near Chis and Rich but was in a different school system and we never met. Apparently their father was a douche but spurred them to become a professional band. Chris and I are the same age but we chose different paths. I am extremely proud to call them my Home Boys

Not sure I’ve ever equated a guitar sound to food but Luther’s guitar is just plain subtle vanilla creamy goodness. Keys too. This is this bands member sweet spot IMHO.

One of my favorite songs as well Chris,,, the only problem I have with it is that it makes me miss my brother...JAMES.... ROCK ON CROWS,,, your music & lyrics make my life a little bit easier deal with...and at the age of 58 I need all the help I can receive. And what a wonderful place to receive it from, you're band is a blessing to us all....

I agree, and I notice that Luther Dickinson of North Mississippi was playing lead during this sitting. North Mississippi's first two CD's had several riffs that sounded like the 70's Allman classics, it's amazing to hear the influences of musicians in their playing. I read somewhere where Luther's Daddy, a talented musician in his own right, has always been a Allman Brother, delta blue aficionado.

"running, but you never left home." That made me think. I've been getting around for a long time now. Not really finding exactly what i was looking for, and I didn't have a perfectly clear thought on what this was. People can fill your head where you are supposed to be and it can lead you to places that have nothing to do with anything in your life. I talked to a chap at the grocery store today while he bagged my groceries we had a small conversation that felt like home...I don't think there is really a physical place that I'm supposed to be, but a place where the right people around me, talking about the right things. People make the home, not promises or material necessarily, but just when you can have some good conversation on what you are milling over and over in your own mind makes a good time and place. Connection is the most important thing out there. Hope everyones got that in their life right now and forever after.

I adore this song; any form that ice heard it in. I understand Chris and Rich's relationship well. My sister and I haven't shared their experience exactly as they have, but we've shared the loss of our father and two brothers. We grew up together on smoke, drink, Zeppelin, Hendrix, and Miles. As much as I miss our Dad and bros, I'm SO grateful for the bond that Anne Marie and I share. Thank you, Great Spirit, for our spiritual close proximity. We can go a month or two without talking, but we pick up like we just hung out yesterday. Whatever God anyone believes in, it's the one that unites souls.

I remember the Amorica album being released a few days after my 19th birthday when I lived in Minnesota. More than 28 years have passed and I can still remember the first time I heard Wiser Time. In my Jeep, on the way back from Best Buy in La Crosse, WI, because they actually had the CD. A lot has changed since then. I've traveled so many miles and lived in so many places that I understand the lyrics "you ask me why another road song, funny but I bet you never left home". The music remains the same. What I wouldn't give for one more ride in that old Jeep up the Mississippi River valley back from La Crosse to the town famous for its red light district and stone... and an actress who was named for that town and is now the mom in Stranger Things. I live on the other side of the country now. I feel like going back there, but never for long. All I really need is this song and it can take me back there any time I want.

I hear this song and its 20 years ago. It's 2 am and I'm an hour out from Barstow on my way from LA to Vegas. My car is fast and quiet, what could be better than to be young and at the beginning of a journey that's conclusion is uncertain. And to have a song like this playing to sear the memory into the mind, thanks Black crowes

my kids and I like to gauge music on the 50 year rule - will a band / singer still be played 50 years from now? (basically that eliminates 95% of pop/rb/hip hop music produced today) The Black Crowes will always be played and loved. Just like every generation "rediscovers" Pink Floyd, the Eagles, U2, Talking Heads, Rush, etc., future generations will discover and appreciate the depth of this music.

saw these guys live twice and to this day those are probably the two best shows I've ever attended. Every song became this awesome jam session. One song they took what was basically a 2 chord bridge and turned it into the heart of a 10 minute jam and when they finally jumped back to the song it was like coming home

I am "in love" with Greta Van Fleet (again.. BROTHERS) right now BUT I have been, and will ALWAYS be a fan of the Back Crowes. The first time i saw them I was 22 (I am 50) they were at some weird place on Van Buren in Phoenix. Shake your Money Maker had just been released and I had made it my lifes mission to turn EVERYONE I knew (and some neighbors I didn't!) on to The Crowes. I have been doing some serious praying for the brothers that make up Greta Van Fleet! I just hope SO MUCH that they avoid the big pitfalls of the Music industry.. actually.. THE WORLD and AVOID HEROIN because when Chris was all fucked up.. I went thru it with him AND I WASN'T A JUNKIE!! HAVE NEVER EVEN SEEN HEROIN!!! And I pray that Josh & Jake ALWAYS harmonize the way they do now!! I hope they do not have the break ups and hang ups that Chris & Rich STILL do because that "brotherly thing" Chris speaks on in this Video.. IS MAGICAL!! As a lifetime FAN.. I hope the Robinson brothers realize that everyone that loves their music gets FUCKED when they are NOT making music because, I for one MISS LISTENING TO IT!!!

And of course, Luther is a Mississippi boy -- in fact, the NMAS, if not mistaken, still use Luther's daddy's makeshift studio in his old farmhouse to practice & make demo recordings. Somewhere on yt, there are a few vids of them in that cool "studio." In essence, Luther is the real deal.

After CR's remarks on Howard Stern yesterday (to paraphrase: I don't like my brother, I don't want to be in the same room with my brother, I don't want to sing with those people), seems as if we'll never hear he and Rich sing this live again. No big surprise, but still makes me sad. He said he wouldn't attend the induction ("Garcia didn't go!") even if they get elected to R&R Hall of Fame some day--but his clever wife, Alison, said, "Unless I make him go!" So there's still hope! I loved the Black Crowes, I love The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, and once I hear Rich's band The Magpie Salute I will probably love them, too. Just feeling sad, even though both their bands will probably benefit from the publicity.

I’m from the further future. They played this song together on npr tiny desk, 7 months ago. Just Chris and Rich. It was beautiful.

It's impressive how well they nail such a subdued groove with ease rather than attack. Restraint, confidence and mastering that backbeat really is the sign of a great band. How many young bands pull of this kind of arrangement these days?
