Lovely vehicle. Lower maintenance cost and cheaper recharging but battery replacement packs probably cost $50,000 and that's probably the reason why depreciation is steeper than the Macan ICEV. Until batteries are proven to be engineered to last 16 years, I will stick with petrol or HEVs. We actually decided to go with a CPO '23 X3 M40i with torque vectoring. Probably $30,000 cheaper than getting the Macan S, that couldn't even be configured with PTV Plus. The 4S corrects that but alas, it's too late after I realized there are 15 to 30 (depending which expert you ask) degradation mechanisms for these current state of the art batteries.
There are lots of 10+ year old EVs going around without any issues. Recall rates are around 4% for those cars and all of them are using first generations cells. Current tech EVs can easily do 15+ years without any maintenance, and take into account that battery prices are more then likely to be less than half the price
@@yusufcanaktas6929 Which ones? There's calendar aging and pack failures are not only caused by deterioration. Capacity is not state of health and doesn't predict remaining life. Probably holding on to that and my 12 CT200h just to see how long they last.
30% dégradation the battery is judged unfitted for car usage, during the battery life it will get in the first years around 2 or 5% degradation then the degradation will be very slow for years, or even decades looking at the older EVs on the road with old tech batteries still going around Remember also that for now constructors prefer to replace the whole battery but it’s absolutely possible to just change the faulty modules or just a pack It’s the approach we would choose outside of warranty I think

Many pre 2016 Model S owners are worried about their batteries. Check TeslaMotorsClub. No third party in the US will insure batteries beyond 10.years. i think owners will be lucky to get 14 years out of their batteries. Depreciation tells all.
My '11 Accord can likely see 25 years. Probably holding on to that and my 12 CT200h just to see how long they last.
30% dégradation the battery is judged unfitted for car usage, during the battery life it will get in the first years around 2 or 5% degradation then the degradation will be very slow for years, or even decades looking at the older EVs on the road with old tech batteries still going around
Remember also that for now constructors prefer to replace the whole battery but it’s absolutely possible to just change the faulty modules or just a pack
It’s the approach we would choose outside of warranty I think
@@jonasweber9408during warranty period manufacturers to replace by module for cost savings but post warranty due to potential liabilities,I think they will only sell entire packs
@@flashsushi1843So in another eight years….😂The way battery prices at pack level is falling at manufacturing it may be a thing to get a updated new pack that offers twice the range and a two thirds the weight. “ Hello, so you want the new pack that will give you 600 miles real world range now sir and your faster due to weight loss - yes we take card payments” 😂
The frunk and boot not responding as they should is something I'd expect to see on a prototype or an older Tesla, not a brand new Porsche. Speaking of Tesla at least they can hide the subwoofer in the boot where it doesn't take away useful storage space. I'm sure it's a quality product, but it just seems like a lot of money (especially with options) for something not particularly ground breaking. If you're looking for a fast and engaging small EV SUV, get an Ioniq 5N
I think the 4 is the sweet spot.
For me, 4S for the PTV Plus.
So what's better?
Macan or Taycan CT ?
Haven't driven neither but if you want my two cents, I would go with the taycan, only for it's gorgeous looks
@Aiantaschr I've driven Taycan 4 CT (gen2) for a weekend and I Loved every second. The ride quality is something I have never experienced before.
If the Macan even comes close, for less money... and a better boot... well...
But yeah, taycan looks gorgeous af
@clubbizarre oh that's amazing. I wish I could drive the taycan. The only"taycan" i have ever driven was in the driving sim on my phone😭😭. And even in there, the taycan drives amazingly
These will be great second hand buys in a year so I think I will wait.
I quite like the EV version but you are comparing 2 different cars in reality.
My GTS with full GTS pack got delivered a few months ago as my daily driver. Yes it doesn’t have ambient lighting and a few other bits blah blah. But it’s wonderful to drive. Feels and sounds like a Porsche (luckily 😂😂). Not sure the EV is ever going to be the same experience
i don’t understand all the hate, it’s a great new EV in a great segment, yeah its expensive but you get what you pay for
Yeah you get 50% depreciation in 15 months 😂
@@clubbizarrethen buy a used one in 15 months instead
@PsychedMedia i might actually do that. But OP talked about expensive.
At 50% depreciation hoepfully, it's a bargain for many
"you get what you pay for" - I don't think so.
Because a lot of people who mostly can’t afford a Porsche like to complain about a stupid SUV they would never buy if they were petrolheads… 😅
Sounds beautiful
Disappointed to see Android running the show & also with the price! Everything is optional. These manufacturers still not really understanding EV’s but I get it, this is a luxury brand, and it’ll sell for the people chasing the badge of over benefits etc of an EV
Nice video 👌🏽
Really loving the new Macan, visual improvement, loving the aesthetics on the exterior, as well as the tech internally!
7:09 229 Miles at 88 percent battery. 260 miles then at 100 percent (they recommend not charging it above 80 percent). It’s not great, is it?
This car had been on a race track the day before. It’s calculating range based on the way it’s expecting to be driven.
Beautiful Car . What is That Colour ?
Absolutely no one asking for this car except EU regulators.
@@ianchmp well... Brexit mean Brexit.... Macan mean Macan... But for Europe and the world... So keep whining....
You got that right...
Actually plenty of long time Macan owners have been waiting for this
Please explain that damn waiting list - I wish it’s just ghost buyers in front of me.
Pick one up when they tank like the taycan.
It will make a good used buy in a couple of years.
They have to release a hybrid petrol, not completely stop selling petrol altogether. They'll have massive blow back. Just like Volvo.
Nice colour. Pity every one sold will be some variation on grey...
Really like these. Have a new one in black on our estate, and looks great. Plan to get one used in a year or so....Looks pretty bad in that colour though. Or maybe just on camera.
Buying a 2nd hand one in 2 years. LOVE it. But price point and depreciation .... :O
odd that all the touch features aren't working on this macan... it possible it wasn't optioned....? And you can get a turbo without the Bose/Subwoofer...just don't option it
I would be very inclined to buy one of these if optional "one pedal driving" was available.
Not bad effort …. I’d still choose a model Y for the charging infrastructure, better range and (much) lower price.
I dont think people are rushing out to buy an electronic Macan ... I like the old spiderman.
Kinda dunno what it is, but I'm actually a huge car nut, love cars, but electric cars kinda seem more like "tech" to me than cars, so I don't really care about them. Which is weird, cause I'm also a huge geek, and usually love tech, just not this kind of tech..
We have a Macan 4 Electric and it is absolutely lovely.
The main question is: Is it fun to drive even if its a heavy EV?
@@Rumblingbelly compared to a Macan 4(S) ICE, it is fun to drive. Throttle response is much better, it’s significantly quicker, and the suspension is easily a league up.
Compared to a GT3 Touring with manual gear box? No, it’s not fun.
Then again, really difficult to fit 3 people, a stroller and an Australian Shepherd into the GT3 🤷🏻♂️.
I guess really depends on what you want.
I test drove the Macan Turbo - and for everything that isn’t track driving - it is a really fun car to drive on winding roads and the Autobahn. Again, not compared to a GT3, but compared to any former Macan.
I have seen one of these in Germany and the back end looks really bad in person
This actually makes more sense than the Taycan.
next macan: chassis (optional)
Great car ❤
I think its the most desirable SUV EV. It looks great, has a good range, brilliant driving dynamics and the Porsche badge
For sure it is but its also super expensive and the depreciation could turn out to be massive. Normal wage people need to consider that.
The brakes don’t look inspiring. It will affect track performance? Lesser stopping power?
Can’t wait to get one second hand 60% off!
I think it’s beautiful but aside from the impossible price - the lack of one-pedal driving.. an insane omission for any EV - ruins it
If you can charge 0-80% in only 20 minutes, the typical 30-80% you'd do on a road trip should be done before you've finished peeing and buying a coffee.
Not that that'llbe much of a concern for mums dropping their kids at private school who have a home charging setup, but still good to know.
I’m sure it’s fantastic as most Porsche’s are, but in 2/3 years it will be worth absolutely nothing! At least with a petrol you will be able to sell it on.
you don't buy a car based on whether it appreciates or depreciates because cars in general depreciate
@@sidthiru1509 bullshit. Depreciation is the biggest cost of ownership, so for sure it is one of the most important things to consider.
@@sidthiru1509 okay mr moneybags
@ there’s a difference between depreciation and not being able to give it away, which happens with most electric vehicles! So unless you’re willing to take that hit, it’s a false economy. Which is why Porsche aren’t getting rid of the petrol version.
@@kimi4life every mainstream car depreciates a lot, if you bought any high end luxury car it loses its value rapidly. So i was just saying that aspect alone shouldn't be a turn off for buying the car.
what is the meaning of Turbo🤔
Not sure if the Ioniq 5 N competes with this. With the way Porsche does options the price of one Macan Turbo is the same as two Ioniq 5 Ns.
But the combustion engine Macan is not produced any more...
It is for the UK and rest of the world, just no longer sold in the EU
@HiruS22 but new macan is produced on the same assembly line which the old one in Leipzig factory, so I think they can't be produced side by side. Or am I wrong?
I get they gota do this stuff because its unavoidable. But clarkson is right. Souless cars. Souless driving. Enjoy real engines while you can folks. Or save your money and buy old win win. Untill they come for those 2 haha. Fyi love rory hes class and always was ❤
100k for macan they really think everyone are mugs. 😂😂
Love it. Anything to slap down Elon.
Sadly in Europe, outside of the land of the Poms, there is NO petrol version available 😢
I would get this over the gasser, price premium and all. Modern turbo engines sound like ass (especially with the fake engine noise on top), and while this is heavier the much better distribution more than makes up for it.
The depreciation on this is going to be insane! An expensive base price on this model for an EV doesn't work anymore. EV's are appliances, not vehicles - similar to spending 200 or 1000 pounds on a fridge. Market demand will dictate its true price.
People don’t like change …. Put them in charge, and we’d still be getting about on horses.
Every eletric car feels the same, i love combustion engines
Porsche eletric feels not the same. Better handling, etc.
I try a lot of EVs and ICE cars and EVs really do not feel all the same… you can really notice what car you’re driving
The new Porsche golf cart!
Overall a nice car, but I really hate that all EVs are so much alike. They are all fast, designed the same slippery way and do not bring any emotion with them. With petrol powered cars there are so much more USPs on which you can base your choice on.
The petrol car is being discontinued tho in Europe due to regulations , so not really both options to u any more
Why continue banging on about ev depreciation. Most will be acquired via a pcp, so it’s the stealerships risk
