I bet the price of this APU is less than $300 within 3 months. Hey did you guys enable AFMF in the drivers?
This is funny they make fun of toasty bros on the discord and it’s a shady site, they won’t allow links to other products in their discord. It’s culty for sure

double editor fired lol, first take was better lol!
frame gen?
hey can yall test apex legends again but use the directx12 setting and see if that makes a difference with the apus?
I don't think they will kill budget gpu's in the foreseeable future, hear me out, but
it costs ~300$ for Parts to make a Budget PC and it costs ~ 500-580 to make a cheapo Ryzen 7000 system
budget gpus have been gone for a while. The RX 6400 is almost 4 years ld. The Intel Arc a380 is the only budget gpu that has come out since then, unless you want t ocount the abysmal a310 and the GTX 1630
@@theinkticianGtx 1630? More like GT 1030 ti lmao
You buy stuff new, that's a mistake, if you really care for budget, buy 2nd hand. I went right now as i was writing this to a 2nd hand listing website, under graphics card the first few listings i see "RX 6700 XT 260€; GTX 1660 Super 60€; RX 580 8Gb 40€" You buying stuff new doesn't mean budget is dying, it means people don't realise what budget means
APU, beneficial for ITX users.
@@theinktician Bro, the RX 6400 was released in 2022.
I can already tell that with this memory speed it won't perform at it's highest point, just compared to Hardware Unboxed 7200mhz ram but those are some seriously impressive numbers, having in mind it's just released and it will receive some drivers tweaking in the future.
Wait until the APU with 40 compute units like the rx6700 has comes out late this year/next year Strix Halo
Yes I know it's targeted as a mobile/laptop but some company is going to offer it as a itx APU-soldered mobo like they have with other phoenix 7000 series models
hell nah lol it would take atleast 3 yrs
so we must wait till 2035 possibly??
780m is the same architecture as the Z1 Extreme on the rog ally/ legion go. You can even use the 780m driver on them.
Not quite as power targets are optimized differently. It will work, but not recommended.
Yes it's configured still like the Z1 extreme and suffers cycle dropping in power as it thinks it's a hand held.
Great video and great outro 😂
Ya I think this would work for gamers who strictly only play e-sports but keep their expectations in check or at least until they save up for a d-gpu.
This
I was looking forward to these APUs and I'm thinking about an 8600G.
But unless size and power requirements are an issue (e.g. small ITX cases vs slightly bigger ones) as soon as you can fit an RX6600 in your budget it's over for these systems. And because DDR5 is still more expensive as well as AM5 (cheapest ITX boards I found in Germany are around 100€ vs 160€) this might work even with the 8600G:
Ryzen 5500 is 105€
XFX RX6600 around 215€
Gigabyte A520I 110€
32GB PC3200 starting under 70€
500€
compared to
8600G 255€ (I hope that will go down a bit)
Asrock A620I 160€ (but not available at the moment in the store I checked)
32GB PC5200 starting at 90€
505€
Of course you don't have the obvious upgrade path "just add a GPU" with the AM4 system and it's AM4 so you can upgrade the CPU (and the GPU of course) but AM5 will give you much faster CPUs in the future.
That was a similar idea I had: Get the 8600G/8700G until I can afford the hardware I want
Rather than going with roundabout way using APU just go straight for cpu + dgpu combo.
ohh was just going to search for this and you popped up 😊
Does anyone know a good sama m203 substitute or are all mid tower cases the same dimensions? I’m relatively new to the pc community btw😅
My methodology of doing a build is not using entry level ,as if you value a performance youve gotten then a bit newer and stronger would be better suited in a build ,as going a little higher end will result in less times and money getting a build not needed to upgrade as much
when you use that mastiff in apex only run iron site or digital threat they have bullet spread markers
Did you all allocate over 2GB of vram to the system like you can with previous gen APU’s?
When are you getting your hands on one? Why AMD didn't send you sample :'[
I wish 🤣@@hunterfabio
I would be very curious as to if you set the Fclock to 2400+ and info coming out saying that the 8700G could run DDR8000, and PBO and curve optimizer setup
That's an extreme scenario.
There apus support frame gen do they not? Like to see the fsr numbers
I noticed the igpu temp seems to be about 10 degrees cooler on the 8700g
Amd is a good brand, they should create a APU that cost very little have 4 core 8 threads with a integrated gpu as powerful as rx6400/6500, if they manage to combine those in a same chips then the latency gona be very low and performance gonna be higher the the dedicated GPU verson and we can use those apu as it is and not caring about future upgrade
True, but what they need most is DDR6 memory and quad channel memory on top of that. The 8700G's iGPU should be on par with the 6500XT, but due to low memory bandwidth it is not.
I'll stick with my 2400g and 1050ti pc, which as a whole pc, cost me half of what just the 8600g cost. Any processor for the most part, paired with a graphics card still seems to be much better value.
Comparing new to second hand, second hand will almost always be a better value.
I’m about to pick up the 7800x3d and 7800xt currently have i59400f and rx580
this is a great build for new gamers starting out .
I feel like sff pcs with these apu’s would be absolutely perfect for a computer that is compact and mobile enough to consider bringing it with you
this is a z1 on the new gaming tablets sold by asus and lenovo but in desktop socketed form, of course is perfect for alot of things
Do you think it would be as comparable to the CUDA cores and Tensor Cores that Nvidia offers for Machine Learning/ AI engineers for their tasks?
I'd appreciate your reply.
You have to use RoCm and the 780M inside the 870)G would be about as fast as a gtx 1650.
I think rocm is not supported yet by igpu but there are plans to support them in the future. But these processors also have ryzen ai, dedicated tpu with about 16 TOPS. You can use them for ml/ai.
@@joonaas thank you so much for the elaborate answer.
@@abc_cba No problem but dont expect the apu to be competing with nvidia gpus, lol. Just search for "780m rocm", and take a look at the github issue.
As this igpu is also limited to 16gb vram, there doesnt seem to be much gain, also because youre reduced to your ram speed.
The dedicated TPU seems to be somewhat fast, as comparision the google coral has 4 TOPS, while we get 4x the performance here. So you could do little ml/ai workloads like image detection or similar, but dont expect to run large models on there :)
I need to build my kids a gaming PC for our new gaming room, I currently have a 3900X with a 2090 card.
Not sure whether or not to upgrade my main PC to the Ryzen 9 7950X and keep the 2090 card, give the kids my old 3900X, and buy a 2nd hand card to go with the 3900X..
Not sure what to do...
upgrade the 3900x but you dont have to upgrade to the 7950x because that is complete overkill unless you plan to upgrade to a 4080 or 4090
I'm interested to see what we get in the laptop space with new AMD APUs in terms of performance. I wonder if it's finally time to stop buying cheap GTX 1650 gaming laptops.
It is, you can buy 3050 at the same price of 1650 and 3050 have DLSS and perform roughly 20% better in Raw performance
Ye it is because they are pretty much limited to power so they can reach nearly 100%. But especially seeing how the 8700g performed with 65w is ridiculous

i got the aliexpress mobo+cpu combo plus used $50 gpu, getting 250-300fps 1080p high settings on League of Legends
There will still have better drivers and BIOs up dates that will help the performance on the new APUs
Have no interest in the APU but this is the only channel that has actual gamers benchmarking parts. It's a rare find.
Zwormz Gaming does it too
Gamers Nexus has pointed out a BIOS problem. These APU are firmwared still as handheld APU it drops in power in cycles as you use it
I feel like every budget gou should be like 150 to 200 dollars like its 2024 bruh its funny that i still see a 1650 for almost 300 dollars which is insane
Good video
good report not enough v dGPU comparisons on the next serial installment(s). mb
Waiting for rog ally 2 with this chip in September
A 6500XT/6600 and a 12100F are 2-3x the performance for the same price.
Should I but 8600G or 7600x? I want to buy a GPU later on, and currently I have a gtx750ti that I can use.
Ryzen 9000 series release just around the corner. These should drop in price like the 7000 series.
the 9000 seties migth have wrak apus like the other amd cpus on this gen, perhaps they do the same and release something better later, prices might remain
Thanks for the vid. After seeing this I'm happy to stick with the 5700g for a little while longer :)
I have the victus 15L 5600g. The only only cpu upgrade I can get is the 5700g. Is it worth the upgrade? I use a 4060 for graphics.
why dont you just get the ryzen 7 5800x3d?@@JtheRipper138
@@JtheRipper138 Nope. Get a 5800x3d.
@@JtheRipper138 If it's just for gaming icw your 4060 probably not, the 5600g is a very good CPU as well and most games don't really have use for 8 cores. It depends a little on what else you do with your PC but if it does what you need to do I would just leave it as is until it doesn't anymore. Oh, and if you are considering that 5800x3d do some research on what your mobo supports first. HP prebuild boards can be pretty limited in what they support. Same goes for overclocking the 5600g btw, I don't have any personal experience with the Victus models but chipset cooling is usually not the greatest on the HP mobo's out of the box. Cheers & goodluck.
@@JtheRipper138 the victus is extremely locked down in terms of bios support, hp only specified which cpu it can work on its proprietary motherboard so you can't simply took advantage of upgrading it, regardless of AMD or Intel
Considering we haven't had a decent budget cpu since the 1650 in this video, I'd say the budget gpu has been dead for years. About 5 years now
Definitely going to pickup an 8700g to build a sff emulation PC.
The 5600G got me through the pandemic.. however, i think the new 8000G series are like 50$ too expensive to justify their existence. Hardware Unboxed did a video about the 8700G vs i13100 + rx 6500XT... they were not excited by the performance of the 8700G compared to the i3 and radeon combo prisewise...
sh1t hardware unboxed video, comparing trash i3 and trash 6500xt against new gen am5 CPUs with much better longevity
@@gustavomorais1890 well, thats a bit short sighted. It's just to show what you can get for 300-ish dollars when you go discrete cpu + gpu and get better performance. I still believe the 8000G series is either over priced or undercut.
@@gustavomorais1890I have a video on my channel of a 12100f getting more fos than the trash 7600x and trash 7700x in escape from Tarkov. Amd makes good gpus and trash CPUs
they missed the point of the cpu. the 13100f is a 4 core processor with no igpu for maintenance, and is apart of a platform which has weaker upgradability paths.
@@commonsense-og1gz Nobodu missed the point of the CPU.. and just to clarify it was a 12100F and Rx 6600 not a 13100f and 6500xt... The fact you can spend the same amount and have a better gaming pc, with an upgrade path from a 12100f all the way to a 14900k makes much more sense. My 12100f gets 150-180fps in 1440p Warzone 3... for $250 dollars cheaper.
Where can I get that charizard shirt?!
The 5600G is an easy buy if you're into retro gaming. I'm getting one in and will pair it with a cheap AsRock B-650 matx board and DDR5 6400 speed ram. For fun I'm adding it to my Spaceship case (yes the one GN reviewed a few years back), just to have some fun looks wise. I'll run Linux with Retroarch and a nice front end so it'll be a blast using this setup. Saving a few hundred on not needing a gpu will indeed be a sweet deal! Great job getting killed--er--testing this out for us guys!
BRO DON'T THE B-650 DOES NOT SUPPORT 5600G
So what would increasing mb ram do for APU
In the future productivity focused builds won't need a gpu
so, you will just imagine seeing the text on the screen, or use a braile peripheral?
people said that it makes the 6500xt looks good but what about the intel arc 750?
Why not max out graphics for a real test! Everyone wants to know what these can do.
Seems to me like it gets the most out of your gpu. If you have an old clunker gpu and dont have alot of money to upgrade to am5 , the 8600g will help in the interim until your money comes up. After payday again, you get a newer gpu and maximize your frames.
I just wanna see an APU on par with the ps5 for sale. Something that can run 4k 30fps.
These prices are still way too high
competing nicely at half the fps lol, still tho these apu's are amazing i'd say the best use for them is still handheld gaming tho definately not replacing gpu's this gen
You didn’t overclock the ram which adds performance big time. There are a few other settings as well that can also improve performance on the new APU’s. Maybe you should call GamerMeld and ask him for help?
Stability was an issue with the system, ran at 6400 mhz but had crashes. Settled in at 6200
@@ToastyBros it’s a shame you didn’t learn more about the product before doing a video on it. Gamermeld seemed able to do it
you should never buy a 1650. 1660 super is the lowest card you should buy and even that is rough. there are MUCH better deals on ebay
yes, used will always be better but for those who want to buy new, 1650 is the "best" or the 6500XT
how so? it performs better than a RX 560, it is more available and sells for roughly the same
@@ToastyBros they're such bad value cards. the 1650 is 170 dollars brand new. the 6500 xt is no better. There are far better value cards than these. a brand new 1660 super is 20 dollars more.
I650 is fine if your hooked to a 60hz tv.
What about something like a 1080?
some folks can't affford a GPU at all.. some times these APUs are we have
This Apu is over 300 though. For similar you can get 3050 and a cpu...
maybe in a few more years, because right now building a DDR4 system with a budget GPU is still way cheaper
Thts apu is better then my current gpu

I couldn't find a CPU but i would just use something a round the price of the GPU, I would also get accessories for the all temu setup. i would love to see this video come out. you guys are the best
could u compare the 8600g 780m vs the 7840hs with the 780m(mini pc)
8600G doesn't have 780m only the 8700G. I'd assume the mobile will underperform due to power and sodimm RAM both being under the capacities of a desktop.
I went through 2 gaming laptop's (last one was a Ryzen7 with rtx 3060) before going desktop.
i love APUS too!
Effiency and temperature the buil;t in APU wins
I feel like the 13400 with the 1650 would be putting down higher numbers in these CPU bound scenarios. And even in this testing, I wouldn't call these competitive with the 1650.
I just got a acer nitro 5 for 150 dollars on fb marketplace and it has a i5 11400h and a gtx 1650 non super. It plays all of my games super well. I dont think the gtx 1650 is a bad card, i think peoplr just say its bad because pc gamers are always looking for the next biggest upgrade. The gtx 1650 traded blows with rx 570 and 580.
nah bro im still using a laptop apu (ryzen 7 7730u with some graphics idk abt)
For testing out the 8600G vs the GTX 1650 you should of paired that with a R5 5600 instead just because that would of been an apple to apple comparison instead of the apple to orange comparison you were doing and also not everyone plays Apex and Fortnite which most people doesn't always play and most people would be playing other games with these APUs like Hogwarts as an example.
I am an almost never gamer. I like not having a graphics card. If I can even play a game every now and then these APUs are fantastic.
Well if your gpu goes off
💯💯
When APU's can do 1080p on high settings with decent FPS it will be go time...
Gonna have to drop in price:
12100f + rx 6600 $300
12100f + rx 580 sp (ali) $150
rx 7600x + rx 6600 $400
(ali) xeon/mb/16 + 580 sp $110
same combo with (ali) 6600m $220
Haven't looked at the benchmarks but honorable mention $120 arc a380
As much as the 1650 gets criticized its better than playing on the freeway
All i can say is know your needs and wants with your build resources and do what works for yourself
I mean, if it replaces the Arc A580 then maybe, but this is only making 1050tis of the worlds irrelevant. reaching 1060 level rn but arc A580 is right under 200$ prices so🤷♂️
I wonder how these apus will do with playing a game and streaming x264 at the same time
Hopefully Johnna has tough skin 😂
Convert 8th gen intel office PC’s, the SFF ones. They are Super cheap and the RX 6400 with Frame Gen can play virtually anything. Perfect entry gaming PC. Lowest tier.
This might be why Nvidia is releasing a 6GB RTX 3050 that can run off the pci-e slot power.
No... I switched from a 5600X + RX6600 + 64GB 3200MHz DDR4 to a 7800X3D + 6000MHz DDR5 (with the same RX6600)
Just running on the IGP gave me HALF the performance in games.
For the record. Building my own systems since the AMD K6
Also, remember the 780m can suprsingly handle raytracing
i5 12400f + gtx 1650 is cheaper than a 8600g build
so...
ryzen 5 8600g best price for cpu and igpu
Why does everyone always forget the RX 6650XT?
Just like my 6750xt lol the rehash '50's
Intel apu+ nvidia gpu is still the best combo....
Currently the APUs are balanced 80% CPU and 20% GPU give or take a few percentage. If they could somehow get that closer to 50/50 they would have the ultimate budget option. These are not terrible but still coming short of the mark.
You guys and every other youtuber right now is forgetting to increase the UMA Frame Buffer in the bios to allocate VRAM to the intergrated graphics for better performance! Someone please post a video on it!
That doesn’t matter this generation of APU’s
Through the window to the wall, till the sweat drips down my balls.
I guess this APUs will be much better in 2-3 years when they get cheaper, specially in third world countries where gpus are too expensive to afford for a new build
I'd rather do a ryzen 7500 and a rx 6600 for around the same price
I say it's not worth it. Having to buy a premium mobo and RAM just to play on low? It's better to buy a midrange mobo, midrange ram plus something like xt6600. The price will be similar, the performance of the second one will be much better.
Would the 8700g cost 250-280€ it would be a no brainer but yea with 350€ its just to expensive.
I need help choosing pcs
pc1 4060 rtx r5 7600
pc2 4060ti 8600g
if you can comment that will help very much
*The PROBLEM with this conclusion...*
If you're building a BUDGET gaming rig then you'd build it on AM4 unless you had some specific use case for the CPU (in which case you wouldn't likely get one with LESS CACHE anyway). You aren't concerned with upgradeability. Hardware Unboxed showed that two IDENTICALLY PRICED PC's with different components got way, way more gaming performance on the system using a dedicated graphics card.... do I think budget APU's will make sense at some point for light/medium gaming? Arguably they do NOW if the game specs are pretty LOW. I think DIMINISHING VISUAL RETURNS will have a huge impact. Take a game like Half Life 2 which is a great game. Doesn't need much of a GPU. So it really depends, but I do think we'll see APU's make more and more sense for games that do NOT need the horsepower (i.e. not ray-traced etc).
A used AMD rx5700 is $150 or less on ebay. Or spend $100 for a used rx580 8gb. A new AMD 5600x cpu is $150 on Amazon. So $250-300 covers you for 1080p gaming.
Ok ok 7600x or 8600g? Which is best
6600XT + low cost CPU is a considerably better use of money. This is great for a use case where a dedicated GPU isn't possible. Space constrained situations. Nothing more.
Next.
With a low cost CPU, you're still left with a low cost CPU ...
A 13600K /R7 7700 are 300$. So that makes the value of the iGPU inside the 8700G at 30$. What kind of 30$ GPU can you buy from any shop, new? Even close to this performance? A GT1650 is 150$. The 6600XT is 250$.
@@gruiadevil But 7700 is MUCH better. 8600g is more like 7500F in performance, probably worse because 4c cores are not quite same, and iGPU makes extra heat.
