No kidding. I was there yesterday, and it was overpacked. The line to get in took nearly an hour, and that was possibly the shortest of the three lines. Anime Expo is fun and it’s cool seeing everyone’s cosplay outfits, all the various booths and checking out the different panels. I’ve heard AX be nicknamed ‘Line-Con’, which at least on Day 1 was not an overstatement.
@@socalamvs5971I have to tell you what happened my uncle and my cousin and I are at anime while my mom and and family are at Tom’s watch bar my sister’s backpack was stolen so my mom already alert the police so I can get it back from the guy who stole it
It was sold out last year as well. Definitely might need to start looking for a bigger venue (Anaheim Convention Center looks quite a bit larger). It was super packed these last two years, but man, I wouldn't trade the experience of going and cosplaying for anything! Had an absolute blast, and I hope to go again next year, too!!
A place where people can let loose and dress up as their favorite characters. You also see a lot of superhero comic and video game characters, too! While it being packed might be uncomfortable, if you ever get the chance to go and cosplay (especially with some friends), do it! It's a judgment-free zone, where everyone can just enjoy the culture!
I'm so glad I preordered my ticket all the way back in January the earlier the better. Anyway I went yesterday on the third day and had a great time. I was cosplaying as Joker since I'm a huge persona 5 fan and bought a bunch of Persona 5 stuff like doujinshi posters t shirt keychains key holder and finally a huge Joker plushy I'm looking forward for next year but we are going for 3 days ^_^.
I am all for tickets being sold at a $1,000-$2,500 price range. Because if you think about it, Anime Expo is the Super Bowl of all Anime conventions in non-Japan areas. And to top it off, its become a fire/safety issue due to the heavy traffic of people moving about. This will eliminate heavy traffic. And by rising the price, there's no loss to investors. OR perhaps its time to limit people to just 1 event day inside via ID checks, to better maintain basic space. No more being able to go to all the event days. (Until a massive plan is Implemented in the future that will make waiting 5 hours in line more appealing. An example woulde be everyone participating in a live event poll via there smartphone to crown Anime Expo's Anime of the year, and other categories while people wait. And have a popular RUclipsr to host such an event as people wait in line. And other forms of entertainment why people wait such as handing out stickers, shirts, tickets to a drawing, something like that to get people's mind off of waiting in line. Make people feel great about waiting in line, bring the Expo to the Line, a small taste.)
A lot of niche booths would not have any traffic, and it costs to setup a booth in the Exhibit Hall and Artist Alley. That, and it's already $140+ for a 4-day pass initially (they raise prices as deadline gets closer). The answer is definitely NOT to raise prices (especially to this ridiculous requested amount), but finding a larger venue, perhaps the Anaheim Convention Center? $1k+ is absolutely ridiculous. Anime Expo's point wasn't too appeal to wealthy people. It's meant to bring people of ALL walks together, for the love of anime and the culture.
All conventions nationwide have heavy Police presence, just like all major sporting events like the Super Bowl and World Series. I had been to several conventions and had seen Police officers patrolling the cons fully equipped, armored, and sometimes; a mobile center on standby for surveillance.

“Sold out” has a whole new meaning this year.
