I am not sure who needs to see this but I wish I would have taken out my gallbladder sooner. I ate perfect for a year, lost weight, avoided fatty foods, etc. And my gallbladder still almost cost me my life. It became black and filled with infection. Some people need to just take it out now.

For sure you do not want to try to keep a diseased gallbladder, and end up with a more complicated surgery.

@@azaz... I am healthiest I have ever been in my life. I eat a Keto / Carnivore lifestyle. Yes, there are still challenges with no gallbladder with a high fat diet, BUT there are supplements that can help. For me, eating a high carbohydrate diet seemed to cause more problems.

  • @puntoclave

I had my removed almost 3 years ago after an ultrasound revealed I had 2 big gallstones. I waited and had a very low fat diet for six months after I finally decided to have it removed. I was just losing weight rapidly and, every now and then, despite my low fat diet, I would have abdominal pain. I think is the best decision I made, as when the doctor took it out, there were the two big stones probably limiting my gallbladder storing capacity.
After my surgery, it took months for my digestive system to go back to almost normal. In my case, the big mistake I made after my surgery was having a high carb/low fat diet. After increasing my fat and lowering my carb intake, I felt normal once again.
Nowadays I can eat almost anything and just have to avoid too much carbohydrates.

Digestion system starts to go downhill in few years after surgery if you keep on eating what you used to before surgery. Most doctors just suggest to keep eating whatever you want but trust me it will get worse as you age. Keep up with leas fatty food, less red meat, more green vegetables including bitter gourds and fruits. Take digestive enzymes if you feel digestive discomfort. I also didn’t face that much issues for the first two years after surgery but started going downhill.

Great video but we have to realize that we had gbladder problems bc of underlying imbalance, and removing the gallbladder didnt correct the imbalance. If we want health, we have to heal on a cellular level, not just remove the gbladder and cut out major food groups. If you are having major problems after removal, it's not just from a lack of gallbladder, it's from all the underlying imbalance not being addressed like toxicity, dysbiosis, parasites, candida, leaky gut, deficiencies, chronic infections etc.

I got my gallbladder out in 1996 and not one doctor told me what to eat or what to do if I experience problems. They just told me "you're all good now just try to eat healthy. I can eat most everything except eggs. When I eat eggs, I would get nauseous and immediately vomit. Before and after my surgery I eat eggs all the time but after my last child was born in 1999, I developed problems with certain foods and one of the foods was eggs. I thought I was just allergic to eggs and never really connected the two. We're in 2018 and I give my thanks to you. I know what's going on now. No doctor ever told me why I couldn't eat eggs. I guess they didn't connect the two situations either. So thank you.

    • @OlinaHeartfield

Eggs are very high in cholesterol so they are hard to digest without the gallbladder pumping a lot of bile at once, so the body just rejects them by vomiting them out.

@Greg George, thank you for making this video! I am probably having my gallbladder removed soon. My story is 4 years in the making. I tore my bicep and had surgery to reattach it which went very well but I had months of recovery and therapy! Then my now ex-wife left me with my kids; I was a stay at home dad so the next thing I know is I'm homeless. So you can see that the stress factor is rising fast! So I got my arm healed up and my surgeon cleared me to go to work and I found work soon after. So I'm starting to get accustomed to life after separation and then one day I wake up in the middle of the night with heart attack like symptoms. My chest right below my sternum is in tremendous pain, like 8 out of 10! My heart is racing, I'm sweating, all of that. I went to the ER and they hooked me up to an EKG and took blood. The ER doctor then told me my heart was fine and I wasn't having a heart attack. Whew!!!! This has happened numerous times in the past few years, 5 times sending me to the ER. I had to go to the ER last Thursday, the 5th time, and the ER doctor did the same EKG and blood work, only this time he had the wherewithal to have an ultrasound done which concluded that I had a medium size gallstone. He told me that this could be the cause of the chest pain and heart attack like symptoms and recommended that I have my gallbladder removed. I'm going to my primary caregiver at the VA tomorrow with the ultrasound CD and discuss my options. The dread of having another episode causes anxiety and panic sometimes. I kept having anxiety attacks in the early morning chronically and couldn't figure out why! I think this is all linked together and if taking my gallbladder out is the answer then I'm all for it. That is where your video comes in. Thank you!

Had mine removed 10 days ago on an emergency basis as it was severely inflamed, enlarged, and in danger of rupturing which can lead to septic shock and a serious adominal infection. I had very little post operative pain. Never needed the Oxycotin they sent me home with. Before surgery, my pain was a 7 or 8. After surgery, don't think it was more than a 4. Key is getting up and doing some walking asap on a regular basis. First 3 nights I slept in a recliner cause it's easier to get out of that. Roughest day was the 2nd day - wasn't a strong pain but more of a deep soreness all over the abdomen which caused discomfort when you move but fine when I was still. Bottom line... pain not that bad and in about 3 days you're on your way to recovery.

I had mine out in 2007 at 8 weeks post op of my c- section. I have till this day suffered from diarrhea daily!! They gave me a medicine called Cholestryramine for Oral Suspension. This is a cholesterol drug that grabs the fat as you eat. I have to take this 30 minutes before I eat and it has helped slow the severe diarrhea down. It has been a lifesaver but there is a downside as well It can cause constipation in some people not me though. My first meal of the day without medicine I have to race to the bathroom no matter what I eat. I have never been nauseated after eating ever. I can't go to a restaurant without going to the bathroom, I don't eat if I have to go some where important like Church or important events. I can drink water no problems so I try to stay hydrated but no food. I Keep imodium near me at all times when I do have to eat when I'm out. It's truly been a complete nightmare!! Like you the doctors know about this issue and they never tell anyone about this horrible side effects!! I can eat a cheeseburger one day and it not bother me and other days I'm running to the bathroom! I stopped eating them just not worth it. I can eat a plan salad and it also makes me run to the bathroom. I just don't have a clue what I can eat that won't trigger running to the bathroom!! Thank you for sharing your story!!

Very interesting. I had a lot of pain usually after eating, so I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what foods didn't agree with me and thought I had ulcers. I finally sought medical help at the V.A. and was diagnosed with a gallbladder problem and it was so bad (about to burst) the doctor sent me to surgery right away. That was about 15 years ago. I can't recall having any food problems like Greg had after that. The Laparoscopic surgery was great. I had absolutely no pain from it. They sent me home with some pain meds that I didn't bother to take.

Had my surgery five days ago and I'm doing pretty good. I want to mention something that I have never read before in all of these videos about what can take place after the surgery. For my first 3 days anything I drank anything I ate went right through me has diarrhea. In those three days I went to the bathroom maybe 25 times. Unfortunately no one told me that was a possibility and it freaked me out. This was the first day I was able to get food down and it stayed down so just be aware this possibility. I've also experienced pretty much all the other side effects that have been mentioned and other videos. This is not a picnic peeps. It's at least three days of hell.... but it will end.

Had mine removed, problem was gallstones. I was advised to avoid fatty foods for the first week (which I did) then eat normal thereafter. Fat, spicy, eggs...I digest it all like normal. I do not just eat like a pig obviously but I can eat everything I could before without any issue whatsoever. In fact, most people recover this way also. Obviously few people are unlucky and do have complications or require lifestyle changes. If you are one of the unlucky please look toward science first before ingesting possible snake oil.

Ryan, if you do some research, you will find that a large number of GB removal patients have damaged Vagus nerves by way of the surgery, which basically crushes normal digestion, and stomach movement. Thats the reason many people have issues, and why this single post has so many views in such a small amount of time. Hopefully you arent proposing this is a snake oil type recommendation. Been one month since my surgery, didn't have much choice, gallbladder was full of stones, and I had 6 in the duct and acute pancreatitis attack which was horrible, and fatty liver. I found out about apple cider vinegar so I've been making cucumber salads with it mixed with olive oil, home grown dried sage and basil, a little garlic powder, paprika, small amount of black pepper. Some red wine vinegar and rice vinegar as well, and it tastes great and I feel so good when I eat it and yea the 'dressing' is good enough to drink. So there are other ways to have it other than drinking it in water. But if that works for you, great. You can try adding some lemon or lime to your drink for flavor. I take a multi B vitamin from live source and a chewable multi vitamin as well and have been keeping fats low. And I am taking my full lunch hour at work and eating slowly instead of wolfing it down in 10 minutes, that helps a lot. I had lost 12 pounds in the 3 weeks between my attack and the surgery (they removed the stones in a procedure through the mouth, and put a stent in to keep the duct open till surgery) because I just couldn't eat much. But now I just watch the fat content and make sure I get apple cider vinegar at least 3 times a week in my food. I think I feel better than before the attack, I was often 'bla' or nauseous after eating high fat foods and had pain in my side. I should have listened to what my body was telling me before I had to rush to the hospital doubled up.

How long from diagnosis did you have to wait for surgery or are you a private patient? Seven weeks later and I'm still waiting for the letter in the post, so I called my GP and I've just found out that I'm not even on the list for a consultation with a doctor at the hospital that I went to. I phoned the hospital and they told me to phone the secretary of the consulting physician who is on leave, so I'll try again next week.

  • @annak1371
    @annak1371 5 лет назад +1

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'll now tell you mine.
I had my gallbladder removed 4 years ago. Dr's asked me a bunch of questions like:
-Do you eat red meats, greasy meats such as pork or duck or the darker meat of chicken?
-Do you eat a lot of junk foods, soda or deep fried foods?
-Do you drink a lot of alcohol?
    -Do you smoke?
-Have you just recently lost a lot of weight?
    -Are you diabetic?
    -Did you just give birth?
I answered NO to every one except the last one. I was vegan for 7 years prior to this. I was healthy enough to get pregnant at 43.
Dr's told me that I did not have gall stones, but that my gall bladder was really inflamed and that if my numbers were any higher that I could die.
They said they had no choice but to take it out.
They said the reason why I was having this problem is because of pregnancy hormones.
They said that there is nothing I could do that would make it so I could keep my gallbladder.
I am the type of person that would rather change how I eat instead of take a bunch pharmaceuticals. But my family pleaded with me. They believed the dr. So they took my gallbladder out.
Before sending me home, they told me that I shouldn't eat red meats or pork, nor processed deli meat; nothing greasy. They said, no alcohol, stay away from people who smoke, Don't eat deep fried foods. They also mentioned cauliflower as being one veggie that people don't usually tolerate well. They also told me to avoid dairy and eggs.
So far, I know that dairy is a huge NO! I feel sick when I have anything with dairy in it.
Onions; I can't eat raw onions. If I cook them well enough, and take an enzyme, I can get by with out too much discomfort.
Coffee; Makes me have cramps and makes me feel nauseous. I suspect I'm allergic to this now.
    Tea; Not a problem.
    Cauliflower/Broccoli; Not a problem.
    Chocolate; Not a problem.
    Popcorn; Gives me indigestion.
Kale; Raw or cooked no problem.
    Beans; no problem.
Goji Berries; allergic, now that my gall bladder is gone. Makes my tongue and throat tingle, numb, itchy.
Spicy Foods; Have to eat with an enzyme. Causes indigestion if I eat too much of that.
If I eat too much, I feel bloated, get indigestion and I get a head ache (I usually only eat a larger meal if I know I'll be out walking around working it off.).
I still struggle with what foods will cause me discomfort or bloating. I am usually always tired, have brain fog, feel not quite right, feel weak. Sometimes the back of my scalp will get tingly as a foot does when it's waking up. Sometimes I get muscle cramps, eye twitches, and shortness of breath. Sometimes I get heart flutters (I have a heart murmur).
If I get those symptoms, I know that I need to start taking my enzymes with each meal.
I haven't been taking them with every meal even though I should probably take at least one per day.
I eat smaller meals 4-5 times a day.
If I know I'll be eating out, which isn't often, then I take my enzymes with me and have one with my meal.
The enzymes that I take are: Doctors Best Digestive Enzymes. I get them on Amazon. It's an orange and white container.
I'm still not sure if I would take Ox Bile or not.
After your recommendation though, I'm going to start taking b-12 again.
Anyway, I hope this helps someone as your testimony helped me.

@@rockisrx Thank you. I am learning what makes me well. So far, for my body, that means a plant-based diet. I've added in B Complex and have enough energy now to complete daily household chores and yard work. That's HUGE! Especially since I have a 4 year old to look after. I don't wish gallbladder issues on anyone. It really is horrible. It's like trying to grow a baby in your actual stomach as opposed to the uterus. Or, as I've been told, similar to having kidney stones. SO painful.

@@rockisrx A couple of weeks ago I saw a video talking about low stomach acid and that there is a test that you can get for that. I always thought that I had high stomach acid causing me to have gallbladder attacks but in fact it might actually be a problem of the gallbladder not functioning properly and giving you low stomach acids. If you have insurance I would recommend looking into that too. There's a guy on RUclips that mentioned something about helping your body to learn how to function properly through training your body to produce more stomach acids because if your gallbladder isn't working then that could be why. It's worth a try. Maybe it'll help you not to have to lose your gallbladder. Also, keep a lookout for turning jaundice because that happened to me too. I'm not sure if I mentioned it. I wish you the best.

Hey there, you and I had the most similar symptoms after all the videos I've come across. I dealt with what 2 Gastro doctors said was gallstones for over a year. I had ultrasound, endoscopy, blood test, etc. They wanted me to do that dye test and surgeon was ready for me to make appt. to have gallbladder removed. Before I moved forward with surgery i wanted to see if i could give it one more shot to attempt to solve it myself. I tried so much stuff. Some of what you have noted. Then I started journaling my diet. Removing and adding items to see if I could find trends. After a couple of weeks of this I figured it out. PEANUTS. I developed a peanut intolerance apparently and all of these symptoms you mentioned that I also had until I stopped eating anything peanut related. It mimicked what everyone thought was a gallbladder attacks and nausea. (I have gallstones according to ultrasound but they must not bother me). The symptoms hit me 6-8 hours after eating peanut butter mainly so I never associated peanuts because that was one or two meals later or overnight. I'm just writing this because it sounds like you still have some problems so in hopes that maybe start thinking about food intolerance. It's been life changing for me. I have zero problems that I had before and can now eat all those things I took out of my diet like dairy, pork, and beef. Good luck. I wish you the best. Thanks for the video. When I was going through these issues your video was helpful to me.

Well, it's been a almost year I experienced my first gallbladder attack..
I cut back on sugars and carbs to cut out the bad Cholesterol because I did have High Bad cholesterol and High Triglycerides too..Im on a KETO diet.
I take TUDCA and Ox Bile salts and they do help in some way..I think I've dissolved some Gallstones and Sludge..This does take months to dissolve the Gallstones..I still have that light mild discomfort, but not as bad like 10 months ago and I also had Nausea for like a month and also a weird itchy palm on my left hand that comes and goes from time to time.
Things are improving but very slowly.
Also, I cut out the Diet Sodas that had produced me a Fatty Liver..Its all related in some odd way.
I get some discomfort from time to time, so im hopeful that everything resolves in the next few months.
Also, Spanish Black Radish dissolves Gallstones..
But i heard you didn't have those issues like most people, you had an Acalculous Gallbladder which is unusual and unexplained..
I hope you have improved and gotten better.

On golf days I eat lite (two pieces of toast and maybe rice krespie bar) and stomach is good. If I have to travel then who knows. With me anything good to eat is bad for me. Fried foods, ribs with seasoning, greasy foods, fast foods not so good. My stomach seems to not know what it likes and when it will speak loudly to me. I had episode Monday of about passing out in rest room because of bloating of my stomach and not being able to have BM. after BM in hour or so I was back feeling good. going to see doctor today or tomorrow but I think your information will help me more than some stomach pills. thanks again for sharing. I love cheese and eggs in anyways... Boiled, fried, omelette... I do not get sick anyway. I am the lucky one I guess. I am not bragging or anything, it is just I have never thought, told, or wondered about the importance of gallbladder until a couple of years when Dr. Berg mentioned. I have type 1 diabetes ( 1 or 2 dont know, using insulin 3 times a day) and my diet is ketogenic diet with 18 6 hours fasting. I feel good with 2 times of meals, but I dont think this has anything to do with my ability to digest proteins and dairy. Because I was eating all those befor keto and fasting. Good life, people.

Reading some of these comments is making me have second thoughts on gallbladder surgery. I had only three attacks over the last six months or so, one causing me to go to the emergency room. I thought it was Diverticulitis worsening from the Diverticulosis they had discovered during my Colonoscopy. Results were negative for both gallstones and Diverticulitis. What they did find was umbilical Hernia which the emergency room doctor felt may or may not be causing the problem. (Hernia w/fat). I went to my GI specialist and he wasn't sold on that being the issue so he had me meet with a surgeon and we set up a ultrasound and Hida Scan. The Ultrasound showed no stones, but sludge and the Hida Scan with Milk showed ABNORMALLY LOW GALLBLADDER EJECTION FRACTION OF 35.3%. I haven't had any recent attacks, but at times I get nauseated and feel bloated. Right now any pain I do suffer doesn't come from the right side under the rib cage, never has. It has always been the full stomach. My surgeon recommended I go ahead and have my gallbladder removed and if need be have the hernia repaired at the same time. They pain is not so unbearable that I need the surgery now (as long as an attack doesn't hit me) therefore I have scheduled the surgery for late December. I totally trust this Doctor and have no problem with him (he removed my wifes gallbladder) but just wondering If I should get a second opinion. Again, reading some of these comments almost makes me think I will have more problems removing it than if I just left it alone and dealt with the attacks when they come. Last major one was August 26th. He did state that my gallbladder will not improve and it didn't matter if the ejection fraction was 35 or 2%, a bad gallbladder is a bad gallbladder. My questions are (A) can a Hida Scan be wrong, (B) should I get a second opinion. I have been told to check with my GI Specialist, do an Endoscopy to rule out anything in that area...thoughts!?!? Feel free to email me at boydstonjr@msn.com if you'd rather not discuss it here. Thanks.

Danny Boydston I would recommend (assuming you are not having any life threatening symptoms- if so, go to the ER(I’m no doc)) but I would bet if you adjusted your diet to low/no fat, no gluten, and possibly dairy that you would be able to go without the surgery.
From what I hear from lots of folks is that the diet is critical in good or bad outcomes here.
Also may try to supplement ox bile if your GB is not working well. It will help food go down. Good luck!

In the 1990's, while working at Walmart, an older woman told me something I had never heard before. She had a bad gallbladder, quite sick, infected, etc. The doctor didn't remove it but cleaned it out - she had gallstones, an infection, etc. A year later she decided to have it removed and - believe it or not - it had filled up again with gallstones. So, there are valid reasons to have it removed. Just when you think you've heard everything. . . . .
