I was asked, should I get my gallbladder removed because of one gallstone?
First, check with your doctor before doing any of the things I recommend. I’m not suggesting you do or do not have your gallbladder removed. I just want to give you information to think about.
One of the symptoms of a gallbladder problem is right shoulder pain. If there’s swelling in your gallbladder, which is on your right side, it will put pressure on the phrenic nerve that runs right to your shoulder and up to your neck or even to your head.
Many people have this symptom and believe it’s a shoulder injury. Massage the gallbladder area under your right rib cage. If the pain goes away, you can be pretty sure it’s gallbladder-related.
Bloating and indigestion are other symptoms, as are pain, tension, or fullness under your right rib cage.
If your entire gallbladder is full of stones, you’ve gone past the point of reversal and may just need to have the entire organ removed. But if there’s only one, you can then take a look at what changes in your diet you need to make to dissolve the stone.
If someone tells you that you don’t really need your gallbladder, they’re lying to you. There’s a condition called post cholecystectomy syndrome that occurs 40 percent of the time after gallbladder removal and can be lifelong. The symptoms include gas, bloating, and anal leakage.
Your gallbladder concentrates bile, used to break down dietary fats. Without the organ, and without enough bile, your body can’t extract the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E, for example. You could experience vision problems and bone pain, among other issues. My point is if you’re going to have your gallbladder removed, do it for a good reason, not just one stone.
What causes gallstones? Too high a concentration of cholesterol plus not enough bile salts. There are several reasons your bile salts get depleted, among them:
    ● Birth control pills; too much estrogen
    ● High levels of cortisol, the stress hormone
    ● High levels of insulin from a high carbohydrate diet
    ● Liver damage
You can prevent gallstones by going on a low-carb diet like healthy keto, which includes lots of vegetables. This should help you to not have to have your gallbladder removed.

I declined to remove my gall bladder ten years ago. My doctor was a professor at Columbia, and he lied to me ... he said that gall bladders cannot be healed. I just somehow knew that was wrong. I changed my diet and went back a bit over a year later and tested normal. When I asked him how that could have happened, he just silently flipped through my chart like he was thinking about something else and didn't hear me. I learned a lot from that experience. I still have my gall bladder. I now understand how it works, why I need it, and how I can support it in the future. Knowledge is good.

Hi D N. Almost a year ago I discovered that I had many stones in the gallbladder. Since that time I have done a paleo diet. I have never had pain again but I know they are still there because sometimes I feel a little discomfort. In your case, the stones disappeared? what is your diet?

@@sebastianpauluchak7361 Hi! I did not have stones. They told me I had a diseased gall bladder, I suppose due to an observed problem with the fat that was injected. Anyway, I go with keto with intermittent fasting, and then I do an extended fast three or four times a year. I know there is a gall bladder flush protocol for stones, but I have never used it. If you add ox bile supplements to your diet, you may get some relief from the discomfort. I wish you all the best!

My gallbladder was removed in 2006, and that was exactly 16 years ago, but luckily I have never any problems after that, I am healthy and I eat everything without any problems. It was removed because it has stones inside and got infected inside the gallbladder too, then I had a serious stomach pain one day and I was vomiting and hardly walked downstairs, and that was exactly 2 weeks after I had a baby with through a CS operation, and that baby today is a young tall handsome man. I had my gallbladder removed 20+ years ago. I was having horrible pain in my upper abdomen. The attacks would last between 10-30 minutes and so painful that sometimes I would pass out. You’ve missed possibly the most important cause off, which is stress.
Stress will increase cortisol, along with pulse rate ( adrenaline ), and cholesterol, which is needed for all adrenal hormone production ( so the production of adrenaline and cortisol ).
Under a stressed state, parasympathetic function is decreased ( rest, digest and repair mode ), meaning everything involved in digestion. So you’ll have low stomach acid, enzyme production and bile production, equating to high cholesterol, high cortisol with low bile.

13 years ago I was having Gallbladder problems. Ironically, 6 months before had serious right shoulder injury. Which required surgery and Pt. When my Gallbladder started to act up, I worked with my doctor with diet and some medication. Even after tests after test it wasn't improving. On night, just happened to be my birthday, I got real sick. I've never been that sick before. I thought I had food poisoning. Ended up in the ER and had surgery at 10 pm. Was in the hospital for a few days. Wasn't happy about that especially I was just in 6 months prior for my shoulder. Now, I have had problems as you described on and off. Never really complained about them to any of my doctors. We have military health care so our doctor's change a lot. I will follow some of these guidelines you outlined. And make an appointment to see what else I can do. I'm in my 50s. Things hurt more than they used to. I don't want to spend the rest of my life fighting digestive issues.

I had my gallbladder out when I was 28 or maybe 29. Right around that same time one of my cousins, I think, was having theirs removed. Gallbladders are one of the few organs most of my family seems to have removed. Mine was described as a lump of sludge filled scar tissue. On the positive side, which isn't saying much, all the issues I had before were still there after so removing it didn't change any of that, but not being in agonizing pain was worth it. The doctors/nurses were kind of worried when I had my procedure. That dye they use to outline/highlight the organs apparently my gallbladder never showed up because of it having no function to absorb it.

I had my gallbladder removed after having an attack that led to pancreatitis. I was so sick, lying in the hospital bed in agony, blood in my urine, lab work was terrible. I begged them to take it out, actually. Anything to make it stop. Morphine and fentanyl didn’t work on the pain, I ended up on a pain pump of dilaudid. That stuff knocked me out! I basically slept for 3 days and then when the pancreatitis cleared up they removed my gallbladder. Fortunately I have had no side effects from its removal and I’m glad it’s gone if it means never feeling that pain again.

Would you have an arm or even ear lobe removed due to severe or recurrent pain? NO! Not unless it was life-threatening. You could live without those parts too. Make the dietary and supplement changes needed and you likely avoid surgery. If it gets removed, you have to make those changes anyway. Plus you get a lifetime of side effects.

I had my gallbladder removed a year ago. Gallstones were found several years ago during an unrelated ultrasound, but I had NO PAIN symptoms. I took a HIDA scan test to determine if there was a bile blockage and there was absolutely zero pass-thru. It was suggested that I have my gallbladder removed immediately, which I did. During the surgery, the doctor discovered that my gallbladder had become necrotized and was literally falling apart. Had I let it go, it could have become MUCH more serious. DON'T think that your gallbladder is fine just because you don't have any pain. I eat normally and have had zero complications after my colectomy, and I'm thankful that I decided to have it removed when I did.

    • @markeike
      @markeike 3 месяца назад

@@ulaganathanc1463 - I know it's frustrating to not be able to get definitive answers from your doctor. I've had GERD for years as well, a persistent pain in the sternum that felt like someone was squeezing my esophagus inside my chest, and I am convinced that both conditions (GERD and gallstones) interact with each other somehow. Many years ago, I discovered DGL (deglycyrrhizinated licorice), a cheap, safe, easily obtained (Amazon) natural supplement made from licorice root that coats the stomach and promotes healing of the stomach lining and esophagus. It was a miracle cure that made my GERD 100% controllable. I highly recommend chewing on one 1/2 hour before each meal for a week or two and see if your GERD improves.
As for the gallstones, I am not a doctor, but I would ask your doctor about taking a HIDA test if you have access to one, to see if your gallbladder is even functioning. The thing about gallstones is that they will never get better or go away; there is no cure but removal of the gall bladder. You also don't want to live with the risk of having a major attack at any time over your head for the rest of your life. Good luck!

I started watching carbs, drinking A.V.C. and taking ox bile as well as eating fermented foods. My upper abdomen has gone down in size ( liver ? ), and I feel much better. Only a periodic shoulder pain now, very seldom. I also have hyper-thyroidism with multi-nodular goiter, not associated with a disease and feel that they are connected in some way. I still have my thyroid and am on medication that has increased my T.S.H. And Vitamin D back to normal. I also now eat organic grass fed beef and butter, take K-2, Serrapeptase and M.S.M.. I will continue doing what is working for me because I believe that we have all our organs for a reason and do my best to keep them working, even in the condition they are in. The only nutritionist I follow these days. I went to my GP with the symptoms described with my right shoulder. He had no idea what it was. He recommended I see a physio to try help. I have private insurance so they paid for it but it made no difference to the pain. A complete waste of time and I thought this would be the case as I knew there was more to it.
Now I understand it. I've had stones before which my GP also knew about. He has my medical history. I get the slight discomfort under the right rib page. Next time I get it I will try message it to see if the right shoulder pain goes away.
I am not sure why there are so many useless GPs. I think they achieve their goal in life and then just give up. This is why I follow I subscribe. For me as part of my profession I learn every single day. Even if it means going through stuff I already know just so I do not forget and so I can verify I already know it. I'm an SME and this is what it takes. However, I have a massive interest in health and nutrition as well which is not my profession but something I love for personal reasons.. after all nothing... .absolutely nothing is more important than health. I can't think of any topic more interesting or fundamental to anyone. Thinking about it further I realise GPs are not experts when it comes to nutrition. They study drugs only but never tackle the source of the problem. This is a big problem.
Dr Berg is by far and away the best out there when it comes to know how. I no longer follow anyone else. Please keep the videos coming. I also forward them to friends and they thank me for it.. if they are not following you already that is. I tried a very simple remedy earlier this week that stopped my symptoms in minutes. It was extra virgin olive oil! Just a couple tablespoons with a tablespoon of lemon juice on an empty stomach - easy to do after vomiting. Often I add a tablespoon of honey for added benefits. Everything in our body has a purpose and it's all designed to work together. We weren't given disposable body parts. We pay a price when we don't take care of our bodies or allow pieces and parts to be removed, as the good Doc says. I was SO disappointed when my 21 year old granddaughter chose to allow her gallbladder to be removed. She was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. I tried my best to inform her of the consequences of not addressing the root cause of her illness. We each have free will, so.....

Constant throat pain and taking steroid packs every month wasn’t healthy. 5 years later, I haven’t had a sore throat period. Get a second opinion and do research if you’re not sure, but don’t be naive when you are in pain.

I did a fast one day and at evening drank a mixture of olive oil and lemon and laid on my right side two hours before bed, the next day I spent all day on the toilet passing gall stones, green marbles and was not bothers with the gall bladder for ten years, this recipe came from Dr David Spicer in ft smith Arkansas and I can tell you from experience it works, I just need to do it again.

    • @ericmartin4560

You can still get the info from the dr but it is around half and half extra virgin olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon, he recommends organic but not necessary, make a full glass, large glass like 12 oz and I would drink a fourth every 15 minutes until gone then lay on right side watching a movie two hrs. All this on an empty stomach and when I woke up I spent most of the day passing stones and felt sick until the next day and I felt better then I had in years, the lemon softens the stones and the oil helps pass them, you will see bright emerald green stones ping pong ball size in the toilet. Check out Dr David Spicer Ft Smith Arkansas and you can get the directions, I was amazed and need to do it again, it last ten years according to the Dr and I was feeling the pain again about 12 yrs after I did it but you have to set aside two days, one to fast and one to, well sit and go.

Thank you Dr. Berg, I have a 1.7 cm gallstone. My doctor recommended a consultation with the surgeon because he says that the only way to remove the stone is to remove my gallbladder and I am terrified and very stressed. I just mentioned that I wanted to follow up on the gallstone because I have a little pain in my right ovary and a little cramping but I just turned 48 and maybe it could be related to menopause, my menstrual cycle is irregular now and sometimes it doesn't come . I told him that I don't want to remove my gallbladder because thank God I still don't have chronic pain and he told me then not to worry about the gallstone and he sent me to see a Gastroenterologist for a follow-up of the gallstone and for a Colon Screening for age. But I am sure that the specialist will advise me the same as my doctor told me. Watching this video gives me hope that maybe it could save my gallbladder, although I saw another video where they mention that gallstones larger than 1cm cannot be treated this way, I hope it's not true 🙏🏻

    (2.) Lots of vegetables
    (3.) Increased (healthy) fats
    (4.) Moderate protein
    (5.) Modify diary & nuts
(6.) Quality of food (prefer organic & pesticide-free foods; no bad cooking oils like soy, etc)

Another cause for stones, prolonged water fasting, no fat consumed for a long time prevents bile release and it concentrated so much it forms stones.
That is what happened to me during 2 week water fast. Now if I fast for 2-3 days, I take a spoonful of olive oil in the morning.

I had gallbladder pain from childhood and by the time I was 18 my gallbladder was full of stones and they had also made their way into my liver and pancreatic ducts. I was suffering from pancreatitis which is what prompted me to see a doctor. So sometimes it IS absolutely necessary.
