cried reading this... been to the ER 4 times in 10 days with absolutely excruciating attacks and painkillers have not worked (not even morphine helped enough for me to be able to stand still) i literally cannot eat ANYTHING now so im starving and im nauseous, weak and tired + caught a cold and have a fever :( so im suffering and dont know when i'll get the surgery yet but im so scared of that too ahhh.
The ER wouldnt do emergency surgery because it's not inflamed and there are no 'complications' 🥲 finally met a doctor at my assigned healthcare center today that is sending a referral to a specialist hospital for surgery so now i just have to wait... hopefully not for long...

I’ve never had digestive issues, never had gallbladder attacks, none of these issues run in my family. One day I ate at hooters and got the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had in my 25 years of life...I ended up with Salmonella and due to that, 8 months later I had to have this done. When they went in, my gallbladder was shriveled up like a raisin. They said it was operating at 0% when they did my HIDA scan.... guys I went from operating just fine to a dead gallbladder. We need to be more cautious of the stuff we eat 100%. I’ll never trust anyone fully to cook my food unless I see them prepare it and can monitor the temperatures at which it’s cooking. I’ll also never eat dairy or gluten or processed junk or sugar again lol half because it makes me feel sick to my stomach now and half because I don’t ever want my body to be as compromised as it was when it overloaded my gallbladder. I’m only eating healthy things so that if I get sick like that ever again then my body will be able to bounce back and fight it off. We only have one body and so many organs guys so please be careful with them.

So far today I’ve only had 1 pain pill. Will take another at bedtime to help with sleep. My stomach feels very bloated today. I didn’t have any shoulder pain like I’ve read others had post surgery. I've been suffering with this for years and being rushed to the ER so many times and just brushed out because I don't have insurance. I just recently moved to South Carolina and the ER here did my surgery after I had been rushed in twice in one day for an attack that wouldn't stop. I was in the worst pain I'd ever felt and screaming and crying. They got my pain under control and did the surgery the next day.

They sent me home from emergency three times before getting a specialist and ultrasound to find what was going on and was sent up for emergency surgery. I was throwing up lots of bile, in horrid pain, it took days to recover in the hospital . They had to put a drain in to clean everything out. Doctor told me it could have killed me if I’d gone much longer.
Emergency people thought I was too young and too thin to have gallbladder issues and thought I just wanted drugs.

This really is a quite informative video ! I got my GallBladder removed just three days ago, I was back to my home within 24 hours of the surgery. Right now, I am in self Isolation. I also took shower, mopped the floor, did dishes, did the laundry ON MY OWN the very next day of the surgery. why I am writing this is don't think TOO much about the post-op life if you don't have anyone by your side, you just have to be a bit careful about the diet for a couple of days, in my case I have been advised to be on a soft diet for five days. I resumed working from home after three days of my surgery. I am feeling quite normal as I was before except the thing I would feel weakness and drowsiness sometimes. Go and get the damn thing removed if you've been diagnosed with the GallStones! You will eventually become accustomed to a healthy diet, I have seen my mom getting used to that.

Suffering about 8 years. I'd get the pain in my right shoulder blade and feel sick. So I'd take to the bed, sleep it off and wake up fine. That was good for 7 years until last year! I got an attack and the pain didn't go away! I went to hospital and was sent home with antibiotics and painkillers. But by the weekend I was vomiting and not keeping anything down, not even water. So I was admitted to hospital. Then I had an ERCP and suffered internal bleeding from that and nearly died. I lost 2lts of blood and didn't know it until I collapsed at home. I got a transfusion and all is good now. So I was nervous when I got the call to come in to have it removed 2 days ago (2nd March 2021) on my birthday too! Now I understand why the incision near my belly button hurts the most. Thanks for the video. I vaguely remember my surgeon saying it was a success but I must have been enjoying the anesthetic too much. I was meant to be a day case but they couldn't wake me enough to go home safely, so I had to stay over for 1 night. 2 days now after the surgery and so far so good. My bellybutton incision feels like a bad bruise, but I've no pain in the other incisions. I'm also coughing up a little phlegm and have a sore throat and I'm guessing that's from the breathing tube.

I’m a 43 year old male in solid physical shape but I barfed my guts out and had those horrible spasms for 6 plus hours yesterday. It’s my first attack in like a year as I’ve been careful about my diet. I ate a mango and an ice cream shake and it became horrible. I don’t want surgery in general but if I get another unprovoked attack I’m going to have to listen to my wife and get my guts yanked out

I just had my surgery consultation and I have surgery on Dec 27. Not really nervous. Just glad to finally have no more gallbladder pain. I have been having the upper middle abdominal pains right below the sternum. I completely concur with the whole can't breathe scenario. I woke up last Friday at about 1 AM and was in so much pain that my wife had to take me to the hospital. They gave me some morphine and did another ultrasound and the Doc said the stone was pretty big and I needed to have my gallbladder removed. My surgeon has done 3-400 surgeries so I'm good with him. Will keep you all posted!

I had mine taken out 2 days ago. The pain of the surgery is tolerable compared to gallstone attacks. I can at least find a position where I'm comfortable. Ice packs help a lot and obviously painkillers. Still healing inside so I have abdomen pain, but I'm also relieved from my gallbladder symptoms I could tell immediately. I was anxious about the anesthesia but that was the easiest part. You seem confident already, but good luck.

So far the pain is bearable, but my only issue is laying on my right side and breathing ( not surprising since the surgery was located to the right ) will keep updated 100% on the process of healing and how long it takes. Hope everyone goes through speedy recovery ! (It’s been 12 hours when I had the surgery and when I posted this comment)

Diet change ....... well yes! In reality, about 98% of the population needs to radically change their diet (& lifestyle) in order to be (truly) healthy. Very few truly knows what healthy to consume & what's toxic, but noone wants to take responsibility for their health by doing the research. Everyone wants to do what is easiest & following the mainstream/ mainline way of thinking & FALSELY believe that corporations & government have our best interests at heart. WRONG! They do not!! Be your own advocate & have some common sense! You wouldnt put crap in your car as fuel cuz you know it would destroy it, but people consistantly put toxins in their bodies & then wonder why they get sick or end up with a lethal disease.

To anyone watching this that has gallstones such as myself, The research is starting to show that fat is not the cause of gallstones but rather lack of fat in your diet. I always ate low fat when I was younger and had gallstones when I turned 31. they wanted to remove my gallbladder but I opted to have the stones broken up. After changing my diet and doing keto for a year (which wasn't hard to do and made me feel the best I have ever felt) I now have 0 gallstones and have not had issues for 3 years. The gallbladder has 2 jobs, 1. Store bile to help digest fats, & 2. concentrate the bile. when you do not eat fat the gallbladder does not release bile thus it keeps concentrating it, this can cause gallstones to precipitate out of the bile. But don't take my word for it. do your own research and talk to your doctor. surgery may be your best option but make sure you consider all of your options.

I had the laparoscopic removal f my diseased gall bladder. At the time, a cardiologist said I have a myocardial infarction or MI that placed me in a 'stroke' category. I always and still believe that it was a gall bladder attach. That cardiologist just wanted me to get an angioplasty and when I finally did a month later it proved that I didn't need stents, like he said I needed. I've been squeamish about those kinds of docs since. I've had siblings who experienced the gall bladder removal surgery before, so I knew what it was, but as always, I was told, doctor knows best. And that really bugs me. I'm glad I got my diseased gall bladder removed, but why did a cardiologist have to insist that the pain I was experiencing was due to an MI?! I will always believe that it was a gall bladder attach and since it's been removed, I've never had a problem since. I just watch my fat intake (and I really don't like deep fried food anymore anyway) because now I know I only have my liver doing all the heavy lifting my gall bladder used to do. But thanks for sharing.

Bloating, diarrhea, constipation, dark green stool, stomach cramp, my entire digestive system is affected, not to mention the consequencesof that..... I wanted to save my gallbladder and asking to break or just remove the stones, but surgeon told me that the gallbladder was useless and it doesn't matter its removed. I have a family member who had laparoscopic surgery to remove her gallbladder. Unfortunately, the gallbladder ruptured on the way out of her belly button. She developed peritonitis and was in hospital for two weeks, and off work for more like two months. Before the surgery, her doctor, who was an older doctor, warned her that he was not completely comfortable doing laparoscopic surgery. I'm guessing that an open procedure might have made more sense.
Interestingly enough, I had my gallbladder out two months before she did. My gallbladder was inflamed, and was showing no signs of settling down. I had made three trips to the ER the previous week. At the end of the second visit, they warned me that if I came back, they would admit me for preoperative evaluation. Sure enough, I was admitted and given intravenous fluids and antibiotics. When we stopped the intravenous fluids and they tried to let me eat food by mouth, the vomiting started again, so they decided to remove my gallbladder sooner rather than later. By that point, I was in so much pain that I was living on Demerol. Honestly? I actually felt better as soon as I woke up in the recovery room. I had the surgery on a Wednesday. I saw the surgeon for my postoperative visit two weeks after, and went back to work the following Monday.

It wouldnt be done within a week theyll shove you on a week of two strong antibiotics to make sure the gallbladder isnt infected and that the inflammation is gone its also usually done within a month since a week of them then week after youll have the pre op and within the next 4 weeks after the pre op youll have the surgery as surgery will not go ahead if the inflammtion ad infection hasnt cleared as it causes complications which will turn key hole surgery into open surgery

Great video Dr. Parker. I am now just under 24 hours post-op after emergency gall bladder removal for Acute Cholecystitis. Never had an issue before until two nights ago started experiencing discomfort in the upper right abdominal region which intensified over 3 hours and led to multiple rounds of vomiting and pain beyond belief. Decided to go to the ER and of course sat there for several hours in the waiting room. During my time in the waiting room, the pain went away completely but they had already put in an IV and drawn labs while I waited for a ER room. I had considered just leaving but my wife insisted I find out what was going on and she was right. Once back in the ER they did an ultra sound and found that I had numerous stones and was infected which was confirmed by the elevated white cell count. They admitted me and at noon the next day I was in surgery. Do not be afraid of the surgery, it is a piece of cake. I am the biggest chicken there is and literally it was no big deal. Post op in the room I felt great and was up moving around with no pain. I was discharged 5 hours later. At home, my first meal was take out Chinese and it was great. Throughout the night though, my body started reminding me that it had been put through a traumatic event and I should take it easy. I slept well last night except when I tried to roll onto my side. Don’t do that! Today, I am sore throughout my abdomen and the only place I have much pain at all is the belly button region only when using my abdominal muscles to stand. I am experiencing right shoulder discomfort from the the CO2 they use to inflate you for the surgery but that should go away within 48 hours. I do have a slight post-operative fever of 99 but I understand that is to be expected too. I have not taken any prescription pain medication, only ibuprofen. Overall, I am so glad to have this behind me and not have to worry about another episode. The pain of the flare up was way way worse than the surgery. I was nervous and scared but this was really easy. Don’t chance it with your gallbladder, there are much worse things that can happen when you have stones that could even lead to life threatening conditions. Just get it out and be done with it. Hope this helps someone out there.

Thank you for making this! This answered a lot of the questions I had and I feel a lot better about my upcoming surgery. I have one other question - if the gallbladder is full of hard stones, some large, how can it fit through that little tube when you're pulling it out? Have you ever seen a gallbladder with stones too large to be pulled out through the incision? Thanks!

I had severe pain in the upper left quadrant after months of testing... It was my gallbladder 😅 turns out it acute and gangrenous cholecystitis. Thankfully, the surgeon could get me in within two weeks of diagnosis and I'll be over this pain.
