Thanks, Mia. I've tried about 5 or 6 patterns and like yours the best. Those side pieces can add a little bit of extra creativity by using different fabric/colours. I like your way with the elastic because it allows each person to adjust their own size and it can be replaced. Once elastic is sewn in, that's it! I also add an aluminium nose strip in the top which is really necessary for glasses wearers.
Great idea to not have to sew around the piece once and turn it, and then again to top stitch. I think the recommendation is to have all the pleats going down, but love that it only has to be sewn once. Big help.
I've used your pattern and made a few dozen face masks. Everyone who got one (or more) loved the comfort. The only thing I did different was place a strip of floral wire for a nose guard. Thanks so much for your tutorial! I have sewn at least a thousand face masks since the demand arose, but I had used a different pattern, and it was very much liked, as well. But his mask got immediate raves from my friends and family.
April 29, 2021 I just finished making 4 masks using this RUclips tutorial. The hardest part is the pleats but if you have a hot iron the right clips and work quickly, it becomes easier each time. Great tutorial. Thank you so much Mia DIY
I believe, when making masks for medical purposes, pleats all fold down to prevent catch & hold of virus inside folds. Beautiful masks and nice easy tips for construction.
@@InfinitaLight If the folds on the outside are upwards, any virus coming in that direction will be caught between the folds. if the folds are on turned down on the outside, they can't get caught as easily. Medical masks have the outside folds all turned downwards.
LOVE this mask! So much easier than the other ones I have tried. My grandchildren - ages 18-11 love it. They can actually breathe while wearing it. Would appreciate sizes for children that are younger.
Adorei seu vídeo. Super explicativo e aquela maneira de se colocar o elástico, adorei porque dá pra trocar quando ele estragar. Achei demais! Parabéns!!!
Thankyou, have been looking for one with re threadable elastic channels as my previous masks have ruined elastics from the washing machine somehow, dont mind using more elastic to have adjustable/replaceable straps..
This tutorial is super helpful! I was a rookie mask maker and this video has made me more confident in making masks. Simple instructions makes for a perfect mask! Thank you!
A lot of videos say "easy" and they in fact are not easy. Or maybe I just haven't got the patience for them but this one was actually really easy and probably the best I've watched and followed. Love this video!!
This is a beautiful pattern and video presentation! Very elegant. I would love to know what dimensions you would recommend for a child's size mask please? Thank you!
How did you sew elastic? Did you see elastic into a circle? Or sew attach at top & bottom of mask Favorite mask & ive made Olson , pattern from neighbor, other pleated masks, - yours is by far the best I must have missed something. Have made 4 of your masks waiting on correct way to insert elastic Tyvm 💯❤️😊😊
@@susanherda6392 she pulled the elastic through the casing, overlapped the ends & hand sewed it....I like this method better than sewing the elastic to the mask because if elastic gets stretched out/breaks then you can easily replace it or if the ear loops are too big/small for the intended wearer then they can always replace the elastic themselves & either tie knot or hand sew a little zigzag stitch. Edit: ok so i was gonna put the time stamp for you but when i rewatched I realized it was another one of her vids I was thinking of where she made the elastic casing just like the one for this mask & she had hand sewn it....so sorry for my mistake but I believe that's how she did this one too.
so easy if you do not sew bottom edge i can put a coffee filter inside great protection also i put the elastic in before i sew the side edge that works awesome for me Thank you Mia awesome Phyllis
I love this tutorial. I made Christmas themed ones for all the family in December and I've just made another Spring themed batch. Easy, straightforward and beautifully explained. Thank you !
Really nice, you are such a neat sewer. If you left that end open that you folded the edges over you could insert a filter. Really like your videos, thanks for sharing....
Wow I'm totally new at sewing and this is the type my grand children want and since they don't live close I can't sew in the elastic for around the ears. I'm tried at least 6 different times and was giving up and going to do the one I'm used to. This is fantastic, you're great!! The music to your video is so relaxing also, I keep hearing that sewing is so relaxing and I've only found it to be so stressful. Can't thank you enough. God Bless All, stay safe and healthy!!!!
My grandkids are in another country so I cannot fit them with their masks so this works well. I sew the body, the little side channels are there, and I send them with long strips of stretchy knit fabric and my daughter can DIY it the rest of the way.
@@susanherda6392 Thank you very much for your positive reply. I'm 60 and just started sewing not sure if my creativity will ever bloom but I'll keep trying. This mask also really works for me to send to my grandchildren. I did the same as you mentioned, sure would rather have them closer to me!!! May you and your family stay safe and healthy!!!
@Ruth Angotti I sent them about 10 more masks ... the little boys wanted to look like cowboys with the bandanna on their faces so I used bandannas and added interfacing plus lining since the fabric was rather thin. They were super excited!! Now, on to Halloween fabric masks. If they are stuck with this situation I can at least try to make it fun. Keep up the good work, Ruth. You have 40 years to stitch to your heart's content! You'll be making Christmas pillowcases before you know it!!

I have a couple of teenage grandchildren that of course wouldn't go for that but I do have a 12, 10 and twins that are just 2 years old. I was going to get some Halloween fabric and hopefully make them fun. Not sure about the 40 years of sewing, lol, hopefully 20 at least. Going to make some Christmas pillowcases for everyone, may not be perfect but they all know it came from my heart! I am truly blessed having wondering kids and grandchildren. Hello, Mia. I have attempted to do this mask, but I am convinced my material is cheaper and thinner than yours, which makes it more difficult to get the creases to stick and stay in place when ironing them into place. Could you tell me what type of fabric you are using and how thick it is, because I think your fabric looks thicker than mine. I am having a lot of difficulty getting fabric which I like for this design, which is by far my favourite design. Please do not take this as any sort of criticism of your work, which is excellent. Is that particular fabric, with that pattern on it still available, and can you recommend a good website where I can get good quality fabric, please? I would very much appreciate that, thank you.
