@@AlexScotton-Illizian You actually "need" to do something like that, unfortunately. My favorite method for mopping magma like at 17:40 is to build an automation wire above the volcano and deconstruct it. If you make it out of a metal that melts in magma like copper, the metal will melt and you can mop from there.
Typically, I construct igneous rock ladders. They will cool down the magma and either melt, causing magma to spill over, or the magma forms debris, from which you can build new ladders deleting heat in the process. Temp shift plates have enough mass to form tiles, which I don't like unless I mean to cap off the vulcano...
On my last build since I was concerned of the Aquatuner blasting steam into a magma room I put the Aquatuner into the Petrolium instead. With Tepidizer the door's no longer necessary and with Niobium only the heat buffer of 520 doesn't really do much else, with only making petrol it might aswell be sitting in it anyway. Swapping to Aquatuner was as easy as deconstructing the door I'm gonna do that from now on, space metals are such a cheese.
Usually when I'm building aquatuner petrol boilers, I run the coolant loop through the output petroleum to save on the power for a tepidizer and have slightly cooler output petrol at the same time. It still needs a tepidizer for starting up the system, but once the petrol is flowing the tepidizer can be deconstructed. edit: nvm something similar happens later in the video
The obvious thing to do after you mine everything out and brought it with you, is to try and see if you could start over with only the resources from the volcanoes and meteors :)
I don't use magma for petroleum boilers anymore. its too hard to do in some cases. But I Found the best way 100% and you can even do it early game once you get a little plastic. Build the boiler like normal and at the bottom were the heat source is, Put a metal refinery and loop the coolant pipes up and down into the heating part of the boiler. Use Naptha as the coolant u need like 800kg maybe, Super Op.. You can set a temp sensor in the boiler and connect it to the oil input valve, so oil flow stops if temp is to low. I was running steel and flowing 10 kgs/ps. It can handle iron etc at like 5-6 or so. its so over powered I have it pumping into a inf storage and had like 30-40000kg per tile it was like 15 tiles or so large. And it wasn't even running that many cycles. it will even power it self on its own power grid using generators and the water was feeding pitcha plants etc. could probably use the water to make more oil. but I had a tank full already. So anyone playing please try this. It is the best 100%, you will need ores to smelt etc, but with petroleum you can make rockets and harvest planets or asteroids.. It is renewable 100%

I like how you’re talking about generating chill and the destroying the chill with the tepidizer, rather than the tepidizer generating heat and moving it to the metal via the aquatuner.
Regarding the insulation tiles I don't think we should worry about that. If you were piping the niobium then yes ceramic insulated pipes are gonna break in 10 cycles. I've learned a lot in this gameplay FJ thanks! Especially feeding that tree with something that doesn't have to be cooked or using animal product lol. Why do you use super coolant for the petroleum boiler? You want the aquatuner to get very hot by cooling the teperdiser, so wouldn't it be better to use the least efficient cooling medium?
The amount of heat generated by the aquatuner is directly proportional to the specific heat capacity of the liquid passing through it. So say if you submerge the aquatuner in 1,000kg of water at 20C, then you run 1,000kg of some different water through trough the aquatuner. Two things will happen. The 1000kg of water you passed though the aquatuner will be 14C cooler. The 1000kg of water surrounding the aquatuner will be 14C hotter. The aquatuner does not create or destroy heat, it just moves heat around. Super coolant has a specific heat capacity about twice that of water so it moves the most heat about.
Francis, what if you make a mega-base as a 'memorial'/tribute for future generations? Making a Monument styled after each of your dupes, a Great Hall of statues. With plastic beds to go along with it, since they're all narcoleptics. Sounds pretty casual, don't you agree?
Hey regarding your new petroleum boiler, using supercoolant you can continue to cool after hitting max which would render the liquid tepidiser kind of pointless? Just a thought would be interested to know if it doesn't work the way I expect
@21:57 it only ever backs up if the input bypass loop is shorter than the output loop in this case the extra pipe is on the output so it can get stuck if you dont babysit the bridge you're using to fill the loop to make sure it doesnt back up is to fill the loop while the AT is off then remove the source bridge feeding the loop before turning it on if the extra pipe is on the input side of the AT, you dont even need to babysit it and dont even need to remove the source bridge
You can use super-coolant instead of water, since it literally cannot freeze, so you wouldnt need a tepidizer. A 1x1 hole of super-coolant is all you need.
Not sure if that is true... I think the game heats up the aquatuner by the amount of heat required for the temperature change of the coolant. The AT will draw 1200W to cool supercoolant from -273°C to -273.3°C, but I don't think that will actually heat up the AT measurably and you need to generate heat for the petroleum boiler to work!
If the capsule interior is rendered on the same map, does that mean if you breach the walls of the capsule, there's nothing seperating one capsule on the map from another?
13:20 Is that the dupe that was dropped in the trailblazer module? Doing that removes them from the rocket crew, and then setting the rocket to crew only would kick them out of the rocket. Edit 14:50 Heh, comment withdrawn.
Do you guys think it would be more effecient to use diffrent liquides for the boiler's aquatuner? something with terrible thermal capacity for the cooling loop such as napta, and nuclear waste instead of steam in the chamber. I know fracis is playing casual, I just thought this will presure tons of energy.
Short answer, no... You want buffering heat reservoirs that don't change temperture a lot when heat flows through the closed door or heats up super coolant in the aquatuner. If you use different liquids you change the total mass you need for the buffer to serve its purpose well, but you don't change the amount of heat that needs to flow for the crude oil to be converted to petroleum. The only way to "exploit" a higher efficiency would be to abuse materials with different specific heat capacity in different phases (e.g. salt gas-to-liquid, nuclear waste or regolith-to-magma-to-igneous-rock).
This may sound a bit daft but wouldn't you be better off using liquid chlorine for the aquatuner in the petrolium boiler? It has a lower specific heat capacity and the liquid tepidiser has a maximum heat not a minimum. So you could operate within -80°c to -60°c
submerged rotten food does not off-gas, but it might chill the resin to the point of stiffling the tree and freezing the resin?!? But as liquid resin needs 960kg per tile, that is practically too far off in the future to matter...
do you actually need an heat source for the petroleum boiler (besides at the start)? petroleum has a higher heat capacity than crude oil, so you are basically creating heat; isn't possible for it to be self sustaining?
Why use supercoolant for the petroleum boiler aquatuner? Don't you want to be _less_ efficient with heating the liquid by using a liquid with tiny heat capacity?
Current play theough for me is the furthest ive pushed the game. Thanks for inspiring me. Just charging ip the spacial tear.. But, first.. moos.. many many moos need milking..
I am afraid that your game will crash when you will go to temporal tear. Rocket is destroyed and all materials will land to near planet, which you already tried.😂 Thanks for your content. I always enjoy every single video and i am always looking forward for next one.
Would be a great ending to try and get a ring of reactors to blow up at the same time around his base. Really make the next duplicant out the gate go “what on earth happened here”
i've never tried so i might be completely wrong, but could you not just use the liquid tempedizer (thermium) as a heat source? the auto turn off at 100°C can be "ignored" with an automation not-gate, creating this flickering behaviour, tricking the tempedizer into working anyways. the reason this might not work is the actual heat produced, that might not be enough, though i have not tested that
To be honest I would love to see setting "flimsy" on game settings should block door closing if fluid exists, and door should take damage instead, also IMHO 100tons of pressure should instantly shatter airflow tile/doors at that setting. It would make the game a lot harder than just breaking suits faster. Stuff like walls not holding fluids as easily, would make it way harder and way more interesting. Make more chances for interesting incidents...

The AT will draw 1200W to cool supercoolant from -273°C to -273.3°C, but I don't think that will actually heat up the AT measurably and you need to generate heat for the petroleum boiler to work!
since this is a sleepy run, can you tap into the dream story trait some time soon?
thanks for the episode!
Is this something new to the game?
Casually using radbolts for a devolution chamber, how innovative
mmmm, heavily irradiated steaks, my favourite
If the capsule interior is rendered on the same map, does that mean if you breach the walls of the capsule, there's nothing seperating one capsule on the map from another?
Omg never fought this way :D between planets it works ans it *might* work as u said :p
Leave the hermit with enough water/food/power to live in that area forever. Give him a phone and a hamster wheel.
If there is a way to delete planets you might do that to cored worlds as they are fully collected in order to save frames
We need a Death Star mod
13:20 Is that the dupe that was dropped in the trailblazer module? Doing that removes them from the rocket crew, and then setting the rocket to crew only would kick them out of the rocket.
Edit 14:50 Heh, comment withdrawn.
please give the save file when you remove everything, it could make a weird challenge map
Would that deep of resin cause pressure damage to those 1 tile thick wall tiles?
8:58 "I would like to kill that thing" ... IF ONLY this game had Jet Packs ... that would be soo awesome!
This may sound a bit daft but wouldn't you be better off using liquid chlorine for the aquatuner in the petrolium boiler?
It has a lower specific heat capacity and the liquid tepidiser has a maximum heat not a minimum. So you could operate within -80°c to -60°c
FJ redefines the saying 'don't drink the water' when he was showing off his radiate the polluted water tank setup. It just feels wrong.
won't the pacu fillets become a problem when the resin gets to the tree? You know, cause they are freezing cold...for now...
submerged rotten food does not off-gas, but it might chill the resin to the point of stiffling the tree and freezing the resin?!? But as liquid resin needs 960kg per tile, that is practically too far off in the future to matter...
do you actually need an heat source for the petroleum boiler (besides at the start)? petroleum has a higher heat capacity than crude oil, so you are basically creating heat; isn't possible for it to be self sustaining?
you still need power input and heat pump for that, so what's the point
Which will be an awesome way to end this series!
Duh, you could put liquid tepedizer below heat exchanger (right to aquatuner) for nicer, more rectangular build :p
Technically every rocket has it’s own gravitational pull!
not the "entire gas giant" amount.
Are you planning on designing a new type of evolution chamber with the new radbolt data?
ooo radiation killing germs i never thought of that tyty think it should help me get rid of some zombie germs
Favourite part of the video was how to get rid of a puff...use the same method to kill which can kill even dups ,the rad gun
Just leave an aku statue on all planets and an exploded nuclear reactor.
Would be a great ending to try and get a ring of reactors to blow up at the same time around his base. Really make the next duplicant out the gate go “what on earth happened here”
i've never tried so i might be completely wrong, but could you not just use the liquid tempedizer (thermium) as a heat source?
the auto turn off at 100°C can be "ignored" with an automation not-gate, creating this flickering behaviour, tricking the tempedizer into working anyways.
the reason this might not work is the actual heat produced, that might not be enough, though i have not tested that
Reloading the game would reset the flickering behavior (nerf the heat output of the tepedizer).
Could you have just used the liquid tepidizer to boil the petroleum? Hook it straight up to the crude oil?
Tepidizer can't heat stuff above ~100 C, it will turn off. You can bypass it with some glitching, but it makes the most annoying sound.
You can completely flood the tree, it doesn't stifle 🤣
