    During my time in the U.S. Air Force, I served a 15-month tour of duty in Samsun, Turkey. On a 4-day break, a couple of buddies and I took a bus trip from Samsun to Ankara for some sightseeing. On the trip, the bus stopped at a small restaurant for lunch where I had a similar lentil soup. It was the first time I had ever had lentil soup. It was very good. I'll make your recipe to see if it brings back fond memories of that trip. Thank you.

      Hello Jerry, thank you for sharing your memory with us. I will be more than happy if you try and find the same (or close ) taste from that restaurant. I have another lentil soup that is the way they make in the restaurants too. It doesn’t have veggies in it. First try this one and let me know. Maybe I can help you more 🙋🏻

      @beautifuldayzee5942 4 года назад +4

      Did you use butter though? Because this recipe is ALMOST 'vegan': the only two non-vegan ingredients in this recipe are the chicken stock and the butter. So I really want to know how it tastes without the stock AND the butter? How important is the butter??
      My favourite soup recipe, for Pumpkin/sweet potato soup, is also supposed to have 1 TBSp of butter, and I haven't tried making it without butter yet. I'm hoping though, that leaving out 1 TBSP of butter for a soup that is big enough to make at least 4 large bowls shouldn't even be noticeable! On the other hand, the recipe also calls for 1 TBSp of peanut butter - and that small amount makes a BIG difference to the flavouring of the soup (a GOOD difference!). (I use crunchy peanut butter - yum).

    Thank you. I recently 'discovered' red lentil soup and have fallen for it! I have been making versions for my 1st of two meals of the day. The Paprika infused oil is something new, though in your case it is hot pepper infused oil. It is a wonderful topper. The other things I am doing a little differently: I cook up hull-less barley and a batch of steamed chopped escarole. I add these (maybe 2 tbs each) to my individual servings of soup . This makes it more filling, and compliments the protein in the lentils to make a complete protein...and it (the hull-less barley) adds some minerals and fiber. I have been occasionally mixing in some coconut milk, but i think the addition of the infused oil will be what this needs. Thanks again!

    I am from the south eastern US but love to eat and cook foods from all over the world. I now live in Seattle where all these ingredients are easily available, and absolutely must try this amazing looking recipe. Thanks so much! At home with a foot in a cast from surgery but I won’t forget to do this as soon as possible!

    Thank you for this wonderfully authentic soup recipe!! Just made it this evening, and it was absolutely delicious - took me right back to Konya, where I had my first taste of lentil soup. Now I can make it whenever I feel like it, and within the comforts of my own home. This recipe’s definitely a keeper! 🤗

    I just came across your channel and I am so happy for that as I am a big fan of Turkish food! I used to watch the recipes in Turkish on your other channel and was very sad that I didn't manage to properly understand all the tips you were giving on how to prepare them. Thank you so much for your work that allows me to enjoy Turkish food at home! I don't know if you already shared videos of sekerpare, terbiyeli tavuk corbasi or muska but I would be very grateful if you could do so as they are one of my favourite turkish dishes. Best regards from Romania :)

    And second soup ,we are cooking lentils in milk ,cream,bay leaves,and on the end we add vinegar,it’s yummy

    Hello Aysenur, I just finished making this beautiful lentil soup in my InstaPot. Your amounts of spicing were perfectly balanced! The soup tased exquisite on my tongue, like poetry! I’m still reveling in the subtle flavors of the mint and the spiciness of the red pepper and of course the cumin. None overpowering the other, just a delicious refreshing soothing taste. Thank you so much for sharing this dish. I’m excited for my husband to taste it and share the recipe with my sisters. I can’t wait to discover more Turkish dishes! (BTW, in the Instapot I used the Sauté setting just as you did in the pot you were using. Once the spices and the all the veggies were added aromatic I followed your instructions exactly. I cooked the lentils on the Soup setting at high pressure for 30 minutes. Then blended the chunks of veggies with the hand blender just as you did.) Again thank you!
