    Looking at the British Isles, you can see the Bristol Channel is completely filled in with land, which makes me thrilled as a medieval historian. If this were true in real life, the development of the Celtic Brittonic language (which is hugely impacted by geography and gives us Welsh and Cornish) as well as the entire history of the invasions by the Anglo-Saxons, and later the Normans, could be completely different. This has massive implications for the development not only of the British peoples, but every country they would interact with - and as a major colonial superpower, that's a hell of a lot.
    For example, would the colonization of the Americas and later War of Indepedence happened differently if all subsequent monarchs right down to George III not ruled (or been different people) because of changes in the life of Welsh-born Henry Tudor, who would overhaul and unite the English monarchy as the future king Henry VII? Would Elizabeth and her long-touted "golden age" of arts, culture and exploration have still happened. And that's not getting into the wars between England and Catholic Europe started by her father Henry VIII...
    I could go on and on and still not over-exaggerate how excited I was when I saw It Could Have Been Great.

    Do you think that Earth forming differently could be the reason the gems showed up here and not in our universe? For example, if the very forming was different, it could be possible that Steven's earth is actually closer to homeworld than our earth, so instead of the variance being the gems coming to earth, the variance is how the earth formed, causing the gems to come to earth. This could also explain how lapis was able to fly there. Maybe the crewniverse even interlaced the variance of earth forming differently and the gems existing. Perhaps if there is a life form that created the gems, they saw gems being created on earth (like the gems we have on our earth) and somehow infused life into them? I know it's a reach but a fascinating thought. Also, I'd be curious to find out what other gem controlled planets/ colonies look like. And I certainly wonder if Lapis's mission was to somehow take the water in order for them to finish the colony. Or do you think the water could have been used to make pearls somehow? And were new gems "invented" as planets were discovered? Quartz came from Earth, for example. Would other planets have other gems to be made? Also, if Peridot was made on homeworld, what it would look like for all of those gems to be made there? Is it a complete shell of a planet now, or do they replenish it? Would they be able to somehow reform the landscape over time to make more gems? I'm quite sure Peridots were invented after the war, as the Crystal Gems had no idea who she was. How is it so that they created her on homeworld then? Wow this was a bit of a ramble but this show really makes me think. It's wonderful. I can't wait for the new episodes!

    • @SaryTheWolf
      @SaryTheWolf 8 лет назад

      Wow, wall of text. XD
      I just want to respond to the bit about the Earth being in a different place. This is entirely possible but would put the divergences point even further back, it's also pure speculation as we've never had any indications as to where the SU Earth is in the galaxy (though it would probably be in a similar place as not everywhere in galaxy is a good place for life developing planets). However, although it may be closer to Home World then our Earth would be, it would still be very far away as Home World is in another galaxy (I highly doubt Lapis there under her own steam).

    • @beckbeschler5071
      @beckbeschler5071 8 лет назад

      +SaryTheWolf Very true, thank you for pointing that out. I think it's more likely for her to go to a gem controlled planet and warp to somewhere else. Do you think the Flask Robonoids came from homeworld or do you think it's more likely they came from another gem controlled planet? The whole space side of the show is very dark and it intrigues me. I wish we could find out more.

    • @mikaelamans9764
      @mikaelamans9764 8 лет назад

      The idea that Lapis Lazuli's would harvest water resources is interesting. Also the thought that SU earth is closer to Home world would explain why Lapis tried to us the ocean to reach Homeworld or a colony and give the a attempt another reason other than the desperate attempt of a trapped gem. She could have been used to harvesting water from planets and it would just have as natural for her to use the ocean. But considering AJ has pointed out that Lapis was apart of Homeworld's upper class, I doubt she would have been give tasks doing such given that Blue Diamond is the gem that works with preserving Homeworld's culture, unless Lapis had to work her way up to Blue Diamond's upper class and had to do things such as harvesting water.

    • @artslice6317
      @artslice6317 8 лет назад

      I'm too lazy too read all of the previous comments but here's my Bitcoin:
      If our planet changing makes an alternate universe so does every other change in the whole universe, so homeworld is a big factor, meaning for some reason homeworld's Galaxy is near our own (as peridot mentioned) and therefore a good planet to use for production of colonies and such, thus homeworld chose to invade earth in that reality and not this one. Someone may have already said something similar, but that's my take on things.

    • @AJUniverse
      @AJUniverse  8 лет назад +3

      No, the fact that Gems are fictional explains why they didn't show up in our reality. At some point, you just have to stop and remind yourself that the show isn't real, and that that's going to be the explanation for some things.

    Maybe it wasn't a bomb
    I been thinking, maybe that's Pink Diamond's hole. Sounds crazy I know, but can Diamonds be created like other Gems?.
    We know for sure that something can't come from nothing, like life just doesn't spontaneously exist; so Diamonds must come from somewhere.
    If they can be made like other Gems, maybe she was also made on Earth, after all it's shown that Earth was Pink Diamond's colony, maybe her first one since all clues point that she was the youngest Diamond. Now if this is true, maybe they require way more energy from the planet than other Gems need to grow, a very huge amount of energy that can actually alter the planet landscape. Plus it's not crazy at all assume that she was born on Earth and did take the planet as her own colony since we''ve seen that when a Gem emerges, it already knows it's function or purpose (Pearls are servants, Quartz are soldies, etc)

    • @AJUniverse
      @AJUniverse  8 лет назад +3

      Why would Pink Diamonds hole be that much larger than Pink Diamond herself? The hole that a Gem emerges from is only ever as large as the Gem's holographic body. There is also the question of why it would be on Earth, when she wasn't made on Earth.

    • @MaestroEspada
      @MaestroEspada 8 лет назад +3

      AJ Universe Her hole would be more larger just because she's a diamond, after all Jasper's hole looked way bigger than hers.
      There's also no evidence that says she wasn't made on Earth, plus like I said, all clues point that she was the "youngest" Diamond. If she was made on Earth, then it would become her colony

    • @AJUniverse
      @AJUniverse  8 лет назад +1

      MaestroEspada Her being a Diamond doesn't, in and of itself, change the rules. She's still a Gem. And you're still suggesting that a Gem the size of a giraffe would have a hole the size of a continent. That makes zero sense. Literally zero.
      And the idea that a Gem is only assigned the planet where they are formed as a colony is ridiculous.

    • @StoutShako
      @StoutShako 8 лет назад

      Fwiw, I think it's a viable theory... I doubt her exit hole was that big, but maybe the amount of resources drained to create her might've led to that part of the continent sinking under the ocean? Just a thought...

    • @Mystery-pd6jc
      @Mystery-pd6jc 8 лет назад +1

      But aren't diamonds meant to be "Perfect Beings". Surely that would require more resources than a "Normal gem" as you say. It's a very viable theory.

    So im re watching the mirror jem episode where steven makes a "school" (remember there is a globe on it) and the globe matches up pretty well. We dont get a clear view of all the sides but you do see about half of it and it matches up pretty well. (AJ i sent you the pictures on face book) so you know that it matches up pretty well to the old map that they used. You can also tell by context clues that (in jem time that they where really colonized and starting to spread more) they had a intrest in earth for awhile because compared to the new globe that they had a interest in it

      Some Sort of Oblong Object Not really. I find a shattered gem... or maybe grounded gemstone... would be as dead as they could get. When asked why Rebecca chose to make Rose dead she asked "Is she dead". I also find bits of her are still there left in Steven's subconscious as AJ theorized. I can't be sure on this point but I find it would be kind of plausible and possible.

Roses Room projects the users desires to Golem of Prague level of results. Lion could be like the pink whale but more of an exoskeleton while a Gem Tardus room holds "Bismuth." There is little to go on but "Bismuth did seem kind of brash in the few seconds we saw. That matches Lions personality. Being a soldier Rose felt she could safe guard a few things in the Gem Tardus room.

      @netherwalker1762 8 лет назад

      Leez Shadowbringer Without the World Wars (and even, to a lesser, or maybe greater can't say for sure, extent, the Civil war) most modern military tech would simply be trash, the fact that Steven has an SNES only tells me that by some *major* contrivances, modern consumer level tech is at an 80's level.
      However, the show has shown that CDs are a thing and everyone seems to have a smart phone, it isn't impossible that consumer tech of their earth rivals our own, which is utterly *ludicrous*, considering most major technological leaps of our time were founded solely on military application. In a more logical (not to say that there can't be logic to it, but I'll get to that later) setting, I'd expect their tech to be just arriving on the cusp of the 60's.
      Also, Japan (if it even exists) would still likely be the worlds leader in tech, just far more militarized and isolationist (though probably more comparable to the modern US, considering how often we see presumably Japanese products).

  • @shingarde1403
    @shingarde1403 8 лет назад +16

    hey aj! i have a theory i think you might want to look into. me and my
    friend were talking about how different gems have different level of
    intelligence, and corrupted gems and how their gems got to be so weirdly
    shaped, and the ideas intersected. we came across the subject of the
    beetles of heaven and earth, the one Steven went to get with pearl and
    amethyst in particular. we wondered how and why the beetle had stuff
    built specifically for it, and we came up with the idea that it actually
    had a form of sentience and intellect unlike any other corrupted gem.
    we theorize that the beetle is actually smart enough to build its own
    self-tailored objects in its own house, like a TV and game system, as
    well as bongos. the crewniverse put a lot of work into the background
    for the beetle's room, and Steven even specifically points out the fact
    that the bongos exist. who would possibly climb up a mountain that was
    hard for even gems to get to, just to build specific items for the
    pleasure of a small gem insect? we think that since it's a corrupted
    gem, it still retains a mind and is capable of building a working
    television and a pair of bongos, and all of this stuff for itself. we
    also wonder why garnet lets it roam free in a tank instead of bubbling
    it, and also why she takes such an interest in the beetles themselves.
    we think that garnet is interested in them both BECAUSE of this possible
    intelligence, and their ability to be completely autonomous up to the
    point they can know what these objects are. back in the old days of the
    episodes like giant woman, it makes total sense we would let this slip
    by us because we didn't know what gem monsters were, or that the
    crewniverse meant stuff to mean things in the future later on in the
    show, ever since episode one. i'm honestly surprised why no one at all
    has questioned why, or even how, a space-alien gem beetle would be able
    to find the material for a TV, build the TV, plug in wires to some
    source of electricity, then build a console, plug the console into the
    TV, and so on and so forth. how is it able to do this, why? does garnet
    know what it can do? if so, why hasn't the crewniverse brought up the
    beetle's so called sentience again? why hasn't garnet? can the beetles
    mean something greater in the future? is the beetle's favorite show
    Seinfeld or the sitcom friends? that last one was a joke, but i
    seriously am interested in why at least this one beetle is this smart,
    and why garnet wants them together. i think it's worth a theory. we've
    let these guys slide by for too long without being scrutinized. thanks
    for reading, if you did.
    sorry to post this again, but i just wanted you to see it.

      If Garnet is a known fusion, and is a relationship of the two Gems fused together, wouldn't it make sense that the two Beatles were placed together to fuse? They reproducing seems unlikely if they both are actual Gems. Also How would Garnet or Steven or Amethyst or Pearl have broken the beetles' physical form when it seems that they are (a) extremely tiny and their gems likely to be fragile and (b) it would appear the beetles' whole bodies are their gems? And where does it state in that episode that the beetles' are corrupted? Maybe that was why Garnet gave them a bubbled cage. They may not corrupted and/or are too small to leave just in a bubble and not some container as well.

    • @SaryTheWolf
      @SaryTheWolf 8 лет назад +5

      A bomb that big wouldn't have to be nuclear to kill off most life on Earth. The KT meteorite left a creator a fraction of the size and it more or less caused a mass extinction.

    • @Templarfreak
      @Templarfreak 8 лет назад +2

      That amount of massive destruction would indefinitely cause some kind of fallout. Dust flying into the air for thousands of years blocking out the sun, large chunks of rock being flung into space and then landing back on the Earth, causing even more devastation, and basically the extinction of all life on Earth because of those things. That is what would be the fallout.

    • @Rockzilla1122
      @Rockzilla1122 8 лет назад +3

      Fallout is the blowback from any large explosion drifting back down to the surface.

    • @Technocolor00
      @Technocolor00 8 лет назад +1

      that would cause something similer to what you usually piture about how the dinosaurs died out. Massive comet crashing down kicking up shit loads of dirt and such into the atmosphere and blocking out the sun. Just WAY my massive.
      its also possible the formation is natural with that being a plate which sank millions of years ago. Obviously the tectonic plate of Steven's Earth are quite different from ours. The arctic plate may be split into two larger plates perhaps. And then the gems thought it would make a pretty place to put a thingy at.

    I'm willing to chock that bit about the axis tilt up to animation errors. Unless Steven and the gems live directly on the equator, they would experience sweltering summers far hotter than anything shown in the series and, in the same vein, ridiculously cold winters. It's doubtful that a civilization which is seemingly identical to ours technologically could have taken hold on a world where only 10% of the land is habitable.

    It also be the distortion that 2d maps of the 3D globe make. This map is triangular, so the distortions made by compensating for a flat map of a 3D environment look different than what you see in a standard "corrected" 2d map. They use triangles and we stick to spherical.

  • @Alexanderantonin

    As to the axis thing, it could have happened relatively recently. We know poles can shift. We know planet tilts can suddenly change. It could have happened a lot later than you theorize. It would have been very disruptive, but if it coincided with a mass extinction in our own timeline, it could have happened later. For instance, maybe the chiksulub meteor knocked the earth off its axis on that Earth. The earth being knocked off its axis would probably not be much more disruptive than the effects of the meteor to begin with.
    I do think you're right. There's too many strange differences to just be animation errors, even though there are different animation styles for different episodes. You're right that someone would have caught something that huge and been like "Okay guys, go back and redo this."

    One more thing: I have to add that the change in the Earth's rotation seems to make the most sense if you think of it not in terms of the Earth's axis being different, but its surface.
    Allow me to explain.
    The way that the Earth's axis is oriented determines the seasons to such a degree that, if its axis were perpendicular to its orbit (as might appear at first), half the year would be endless summer daylight and half would be winter night. This understandably makes for a not very habitable Earth.
    However, there is a way that Earth can rotate North-South without this discrepancy: If the area we think of as the North Pole is not a pole at all, but on the equator, and the real Pole is located somewhere in the Indian Ocean.
    This may be a little hard to understand, but maybe you can take a crack at explaining it, AJ22?

    The massive hole in Russia and the shift in axis can be attributed to the same source. Neptune also rotates on a equatorial axis as opposed to a polar one, and it's suspected that it's because a large moon struck it at some point during its lifespan. The same could be true with this earth.

    One fact that I noticed about this other earth was the fact that Iceland is completely missing (the reason for me noticing being that I live there XP), and that made me think, Iceland exists because of a hotspot (like the ones under Hawai'i or Yellowstone) that is also under the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, causing a HUGE amount of geothermal activity, enough to make a whole island. But what is more interesting about it is the theory that it is most likely that hotspot that started the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, with it having become powerful enough to burst through the crust and started a crack that became that specific ridge. If that is the case, Iceland being missing even with all the geothermal activity under it could be another point in the fact that the difference between the SU earth and our earth is much MUCH older than the gems involvement.

    Alternate Pangaea breakup looks pretty good as a hypothesis. However, since we know that a single gem has the ability to control entire oceans, gems have the ability to have a massive effect on the planet. If planetary-scale hydrokinesis is a gem ability, why not planetary-scale terrakinesis? A gem with the ability to, for example, raise sections of the ocean floor to the surface to extract rare resources would have a massive effect on the planet, as doing so would displace a lot of ocean and cause perma-flooding in low-elevation lands (such as Florida and West Africa)

  • @Tynaiden
    @Tynaiden 8 лет назад

    At about 7:53 in "Jailbreak" (also the bottom left image in this video at 1:51), when Peridot is in the escape pod descending to Earth -- the Great Lakes can be seen pretty clearly and separate. However, the 'Florida peninsula' is still separate from the continental land mass.
    From the flight scene of Lapis and Steven and few other hints, the town of Beach City can be reasonably figured to be somewhere on the mid- to even upper-mid East coast of what we relate to being 'The United States of America'.
    With that bit and few others, some points for anyone interested in the Steven Universe universe to maybe consider.
    * The map on the moon base is probably 5000-6000+ years old and some planetary changes have occurred since.
    * The moon base map is a data point graphic more so than an 100% accurate geological representation. It is showing some kind of marks of interest and not so much more than the landmasses' outlines.
    * In "The Return", Greg Universe openly states what the gems have skirted around: the Homeworld Gems where already upon Earth and altering it's environments before the Crystal Gem revolt.
    * Unless given explicit directions or examples, artists interpret scenes and storyboards within their artistic limits and the style of show so things can at times be inconsistent, 'filler', or artistic flight of fancy.
    * There have been at least a handful of confirmed foreshadowing or outright blind clues woven into the show so trying to find more can be a fun exercise. Still must try to at least consider the previous point as well.
    * With the view from the moon base, it would seem the planet is tilted quite heavily but we have seen the sun on what seems to relate to the East of Beach City. So the view from the moon could be part of previous point of artistic liberty or easy to quickly understand visual element ("yeah, they really are on the moon, looking down on his homeland and it means something to Steven").
    * The other thought I haven't seen mentioned much (I don't really look at/for theories either so maybe it has been) -- The Lunar Sea Spire could have part of the reason for the sea covering the land North of 'India'. That area of our Earth is relatively low in altitude and could be susceptible to flooding from outside sources. The spire is shown having major influence over gravity and/or water but we do not seem to have any clues to it's location other than amidst a large body of water.

    The Long Earth series explored quantum divergence in parallel worlds very well. It's 5 books, so there's a bit of an investment for the whole series, but the first book stands alone fairly well. Also, it was one of the last things Terry Pratchett wrote, so that's going for it, too.I highly recommend it.
    As for your "north-south sunrise" idea... no. That doesn't work. If the Earth spun like Uranus, as in your illustration, the humans on that theoretical planet would still see an East-West solar path through their sky. If the rotational axis was off of the orbital path by about 23 degrees, they's also experience the same seasonal changes we do. So the real explanation for the moon-spire view of Earth is that the continents drifted differently. Which you covered admirably.

    Aj, I have a very good idea about how you could add to this video. So, if the earth Steven lives in rotates north to south that means the equator and tropics are vertical. This would explain why it has never snowed naturally in Delaware. Delaware would be near one of the tropics. This would also mean places near California and Arizona would be cold. You might be thinking that Delaware doesn't look very tropical in Steven universe, but I have been to South Carolina and it has pine trees near the beach. So if this theory interests you please make a video on it. :D

    Any here played Resistance Series on PS3? In that game, (esp. Resistance 3) there are massive terraformers roaming the Earth and sculpting the land. The reason I bring this up is because Greg states to Steven that the Gem Civil War was "bloody" and Greg stated that there was a final confrontation that lead to the end of the War. He states that Rose had to make a difficult choice which lead to only saving a handful (Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst) Gems and herself surviving by using her shield.
    When Jasper saw Steven use his shield, Jasper believed that he was Rose. Meaning that Rose's shield is legendary, enough that the whole of Gem Homeworld knows about it. Or, just the Vets that fought in the final battle such as Jasper.
    We have been lead to believe that the Crystal Gems were winning the war, what if they were not? What if they were only resistance? With the Gem Homeworld and its massive resources behind them, they could have launched their terraforming operation even with the war going on. The Crystal Gems (more likely Rose), not gaining any ground, launch a desperate attack against the terraforming operation. The Gems fight, and the terraformer is launched into operation. Seeing that there is no way to escape, Rose brings up her shield, blocks the terraformer's atomizing ray, and deflects back it. The feedback loop would have destroyed it and cause a massive atomizing event, which would have carved away the chunk of Russia, Mongolia and China away.
    Gem Homeworld devastated by this loss, decides to implicate plan B, the Cluster and leaves. The Crystal Gems are too devastated and left with just the four members. (This event could also explain the corrupt gems as well)
    OR, there is not an Antarctica on the map, so global climate change or something?
    That is my theory: dissect it, disagree or agree.

    • @steampunkassmonster9343
      @steampunkassmonster9343 6 лет назад

      AJ Universe Gems don't have inheritance laws because they don't sexually reproduce. The Diamonds believe Steven = Pink, so they still consider the Earth to be his, regardless of whether they should have colonized it or not. The show writers seem to be generally operating under the same line of logic, eventhough the show is about resisting Homeworld's imperialism. From an outside view? Ownership of Earth depends on whether the viewer _believes_ Earth can be owned. From an inside view? The show has been rather consistent with the idea that most of Homeworld considers the Earth to be Pink's and Pink to now be Steven, so from the point of view of the show, Earth both is and isn't Steven's depending on which character you ask.

    • @AJUniverse
      @AJUniverse  6 лет назад

      gil Sorry, but no, ownership of the Earth has nothing to do with whether we think it can be owned. The fact is it is owned, and it was owned 6000 years prior to the series when the Gems arrived. People already had a claim to the Earth. The Gems coming here and declaring that their claim was bestest claim means absolutely nothing. No more than if I went to your house and declared it mine would actually make it so.
      Pink Diamond, at best, tried to steal the Earth. That doesn't make it hers.
      And Steven being confused for her wouldn't make it his even if the above wasn't true. To go with the same analogy as above, if I were confused for you, would I be awarded ownership of your possessions? No, I wouldn't. People might think it did for a while, but it never would have actually been true.
      Between Rose's lack of a legitimate claim over the planet and the fact that Steven isn't Rose to begin with the Earth is not and never was Steven's. It just isn't.

    Ok here's my problem with going as far as the Earth's formation: Lapis Lazuli, just a member of Blue Diamond's court, is powerful enough to steal the entire ocean with a nearly shattered gem. In fact, since all oceans are connected, she probably didn't steal just one ocean, she stole all of them a.k.a 97% of Earth's water. Now imagine a high class gem like Lapis or even a Diamond that bends rock instead, she would be powerful enough to create gem colonies on her own, sink Russia, split continentes in half, move the entire planet like a skipping stone. We don't need a divergence point that far back, space rocks are more than powerful enough to change the Earth like this.

If the map was spherical it would look a lot more like the traditionally recognizable shape, as most of the countries are shown out of proportion and at an angle. A lot atlases we're familiar with have incorrect scaling so that the spherical Earth fits nicely on rectangular paper. Homeworld Gems wouldn't necessarily show Earth in the same way. It's worth noting that Antarctica isn't show on the map either.
    But this doesn't account for any of the other changes to the geography, and it's a bit of a boring theory, hopefully the writers will go for something along the lines of the ideas in this video.

    Cool theory, makes a lot of scene. However I'd like to point that the Earth's axis being on a more or less 90 degree tilt is more likely to be due to huge event shortly after the planet formed then a difference in the formation of the planet itself. Scene the Earth still has a moon that much the same as ours, my guess is that event came either before the Theia collision or was the Theia collision, with Theia hitting the Earth at the different angle and causes the axis tilt. It was unlikely to have happened after this point as it would have effected the moon. It's not a big deal though as it only takes 40 million years or so off the minimum age of the divergences point.

    +AJ Universe - My initial thought when I looked at the map was - the continental locations could easily fit with our timeline if it were, say, a half a million to 2 million years ago... Something that has never been addressed is that they almost never mention years on this planet. I think that's cause they're working on a different timeline. If the show is set in the past, and we assume that human science was sped up by the arrival of aliens then this entire series could be taking place in the past, before the continents had completely settled. But that's plucking too many strings and too hard to prove :P

    +AJ Universe my brother and I thought of a theory where Steven bubbled a Diamond. We where watching an episode where Steven, Lars, Sadie, and Ronaldo watch evil bear 2 I believe ( not sure of the name) well they find out the light house is haunted but at the end it turns out to me a gem and shows Lars and Ronaldo in the past. Lars carves his name on the wall and gets knocked back and Steven realizes that the gem is hosting the light house and bubbles it. To my brother and I it looked like a diamond so our theory pretty much is that Steven had bubbled blue diamond and is in there home now. But you should try to look more into it for us we are really curious about it

    so in relation to the various maps seen so far the moonbase map shows gem site locations which logically have warp pads for access, we know from in episode sources,
    south america - crashed ship + map implies they were building there too, caribbean - mask island, mid atlantic - sea shrine with time turners, the 2 coastal atlantic sites are the sea spire and galaxy warp both noted close to shore, the 2 north american sites are the alpha and beta kindergartens. the desert is in africa, the strawberry field (no gem building seen) is in southern norway. this leaves 5 sites, notably crystal gem sites arent official and so arent mapped.
    the geode, comms hub, flower meadows, gem hunt snow location, sky/cloud arena and sky spire remain.
    sky spire and cloud arena are noted on moonbase screens, both are notably above land, the comms hub is also archived at the moonbase and apparently sits in a desert. (assuming the gaping hole in russia affects weather and climate around the area it may be the finland based site is the comm hub and the area is a desert, the design of the hub has very nordic patterns.
    sky spire design implies it is the southern china location
    the sky arena is possibly above spain
    the geode sits in a crater presumably on land it is not seen on the moonbase thou so may not be an official gem colony site.
    the flower meadow ? maybe hides the palanquin. could be the site on buddys map that wasnt on the moonbase one.
    the snow location has a giant wailing stone and presumably sits in the northern scandinavia location
    so that leaves the mysterious russian crater, maybe there is an unseen gem site inside it or maybe its a clever tunguska reference connected to the geode almost exploding as garnet mentioned. perhaps the gravitational power that would harvest the ground into orbit as the moonbase plan shows was turned in on itself somehow to trap the explosion of the site, it does look like something dropped the geode there, maybe it was sucked in on itself and just fell to the ground.

    This is what I love about good science fiction stories it's not the great differences but the suttle hard to observe ones. People seem to forget that any small choice whether controled or not has an outcome. It's just how the universe and in conjunction the multiverse works. Earth continents could have split in anyway changing all that we know. It's just amazing how much thought Rebbca Suger and the Crewinverse put into this show it's just.......wow
