I had always thought that Home World lied to new gems to make them feel weak as to prevent another rebellion.
I'm glad that someone else has the same theory.
Wait...
"Fusion is just a cheap tactic to make weak gems stronger. It's dishonest! Fake! Shrouded in Smokey Quartz and Mirrors!...WHY WILL NO ONE WANT TO FUSE WITH ME!?!" -Jasper
Nice profile picture
well u have to understand she was made to believe that and knew nothing else but she has a point it is a tactic to make weak gems stronger look at her a perfect quartz is has a low self as teem from being beat by fusion and when she fused she felt more than a quartz and she wanted to feel stronger so she went to fusions and she liked it so u can't blame her
o
Blue's Clues! Steven finding Lapis (except darken it to about 10 x)
Keith Welsh I was only trying to make a pun not really rip on her in anyway. I respect the character the Crewniverse gave her.
I can't believe they lied to me
you can still be a green dorito uwu
kinda explains how shr could move the enhancement
It's ok Peri-Senpai =^.^=
Peridot do you have a gem weapon? If so what is it?
Michelle Manly Well I can't tell you because I haven't unlocked it yet.
I think that the enhancers act as a sort of wand. They assist in focusing the ability. So Peri had these powers and actively used them, they're just weaker and probably need a bit more work so they're more affective.
yeah I think so too
@PlatinumPrism I don't think they're talking about aquamarine's wand.
@PlatinumPrism *_number one: did you just call me Max?_*
*_Number two: I know, It sounds like they're talking about a harry potter type of wand, where it doesn't create the magic, but rather channels it, making it more powerful and easier to control._*
Le gasp, homeworld is like our world...THE GOVERMENT ALWAYS LIES
Lol
BAW BAW BAWUUUUUUUM!!!
bwaaaaaaaaaahhh
haha, when did i become a rabbid?
the diamonds are donald trump split into 4 minus 1
+Tati awesomeness no no wait, blue and yellow are trump and Clinton and white and pink are their vices
This was before the episode Kindergarten Kid, but that episode shows that Peridot can bubble just as Pearl Garnet Steven and Amethyst can. So if Peridots can bubble, then that does prove that she has Gem abilities. As Bubbling is a thing that all gems seem to have the power to do
Ass bubbling is an important talent. 😏
Maighdean Gemini
Fuuu I meant to say as not ass gdi
+Tananda Lynch lmao I know I just thought it was funny
Maighdean Gemini
XD
The target audience for this show is ages 7 and up it even has a TV Y7 so they'd have to be in 1st grade here
I totally agree with you. Actually, when Peridot first showed her metal powers, I said to myself, "that's how she moved her fingers before!" it makes total sense that Homeworld would do this, convince them that they're powerless, and that their limb enhancers are the source of their abilities.
WHAT IF STEVEN GAVE PERIDOT THE GEM POWER SHE NEEDED TO USE ABILITIES! She's admitted to using his toothbrush, and when Lapis was cracked it disabled some of her abilities. Gems get their energy from their gems, so having a cracked gem means you are missing a lot of energy. Steven's spit and Rose's tears heal those cracks, restoring the lost energy with it. Steven puts the toothbrush in his mouth like how he put the juice straw in his mouth that fixed Connie's eyesight.
oh mY GOD!
IT'S A BREAKTHROUGH
That....is a good theory...
What I never thought of that
Except for conny
potentially shape shifting and maybe fusion, BUT i dont think she'd have a weapon. Metal bending is her weapon, as water is lapis'
Lapis creates water that is why it is her weapon. Peridot doesn't create any metals that is why she can should be able to use a weapon.
lapis does not create water. the only water she's summoned from her gem is for her wings, whether thats created or stored is a different story. she controls water.
directly from the wiki Ian Jones-Quartey has confirmed that Lapis Lazuli's hydrokinesis is her weapon. As of yet, there is no known limit to this ability, and Lapis can create anything she imagines, from giant hands and shackles to clones of the Crystal Gems armed with ice weapons and even turning the entire ocean into a space elevator.
Lapis can also summon water from her gemstone to form functional wings. Whether this water is previously stored in her gemstone's pocket dimension or generated by her is unknown. Her wings have also been seen taking the form of hands in "Chille Tid".
she's never used water that wasn't already around, again, exception wings, but that may be stored somehow
+Lamp Nine it could be that she forms wings like that by condensing the moisture in the air around her. There would be ample moisture in the air around beach city, making it easier than say, in a desert.
Lamp Nine Still unless peridot stores metal in her gem it is not her weapon for now.
That's very true and would still not count as summoning it
this makes sense. ever since Peridot revealed that she thought she didn't have powers i figured it was a lie homeworld was telling her and perhaps all Peridots just to keep them in line. makes me feel sad for Peridot, she really thought her limb enhancers were all she was, and without them its no wonder she felt so scared and lost. its why she had such a dramatic reaction to Amethyst taking her tablet away, because that tablet was like new limb enhancers to her.
What are you talking about peridot can shape shift, I mean if you go threw Different episodes Peridot changes the size of her hair
no
yes
AJ Anime-bot NO
Her.. here??? What??
+Just Deer Things no
you should talk about the new information we got in Earthlings. After I saw that episode I had to take a minute to collect my brain off the floor.
I'm so happy with the new fusion. They're great! That episode was something else.
+Atlas Pyro oh Hell yes Smokey Quartz was awesome!
+Hourglass Mage I know right! I was avoiding using their name though, I didn't want to spoil it for other people.
I can't wait for Friday's episode called Know Your Fusion. Smoky Quartz shows up again! It's gonna be great.
I hope you have a nice day!
+Atlas Pyro I can't wait either! You have a nice day as well!
I think he should put out his new theory later with the summer of steven and all
Also, with the cluster, it was stated that it would be able to destroy worlds "starting with this one," which means one cluster can destroy many planets.
Yeah.
It's been stated that once the Cluster forms it'll be bigger than the Earth, so that makes sense.
***** uh
wrong comment thread dude :P
I've thought about the whole "limb enhancers are tele (or ferro)-kinetically controlled" thing myself, and it makes sense. All of it, actually. It's rather of a placebo effect when you get down to it. "You can't use powers because you don't have any". I've been told that over and over from the moment of creation, so I guess my diamond is right, I don't have powers. "Here, these are limb enhancers that only work for peridots like you. The fingers are specially controlled but I can't tell you specifically how to use them. Just think about moving your fingers and it will work." Well hot dog, it did! Thanks, Diamond! ... Then if they were to lose their limb enhancers (either stolen from them or they mess up and Homeworld snatches them back), the peridots would also believe as a matter of course that their powers are gone. If one peridot showed an inclination of using her ferrokinetic abilities without her enhancers, I feel like Homeworld would bubble if not shatter her.
Well now we know that the enhancers were not her metal power because amythest is seen using the in the diamond days arx
maybe peridot's limb enhancers were limiting her true potencial.
You're ignoring the fact that- Maybe Peri doesn't 'know' she can choose her appearance. All gems of the same type in homeworld look identical except gem placement.
She does, though, she suggested the idea herself.
Oh, Hi Senpai. But consider also that (in that episode) we learn that she both likes and wears clothes on special occasions. She 'may' have just been talking about - wearing one of steven's shirt. Plus she seamed confused about the symbols "Where am I going to put it" as though it would have to be added to her current appearance, not replacing the existing logo.
Chances are this 'uniform' is just what all Peridot's wear, and she's never even considered having anything different until declaring herself 'crystal gem'. And just cause she's willing to - doesn't necessarily mean she 'knows' how...
There exists one hole in this theory: The Rubies from Hit the Diamond. While it is theoretically possible that they were "cutting loose" while away from homeworld, I find it kind of unlikely. They all are clearly rubies (same color, similar hair shape, same build) but they had clearly different appearances. It stands to reason that all gems are unique, even if Homeworld forces them to have certain traits (i.e. diamond insignias).
Danniel taylor
I don't really say they have unique appearances. You look at them in the bubbles, end of earthlings, it's hard to see their gem placements so they look similar. They Do have different personalities, they stand differently, talk differently, move differently. But when they were playing baseball - there were a few times when I wasn't sure who was on first base (pun intended). They're dressed and look like - well. Soldiers. Troops. They're not intended to have individuality and the idea is implied that most lower ranking gems aren't given that luxury.
While, to some degree, I can see where you're coming from, but there are some on the team of rubies that are very easy to pick out, disregarding the one that I call "Terminator Ruby" because of the gem-eye and her attitude, you have one with a visor, one with suspenders, and one with no black "uniform", all of which are pretty unique. It's hard to say, really. I guess it'll be revealed eventually.
Peridot is so weak, even compared to Pearl who was made to only be a servent. I can't see Peridot having the strength to shape shift considering how much it takes out of Steven. More than overcooked, I feel like all era 2 gems are nutrient deprived. Which doesn't necessarily take away their abilities, but keeps them from having the energy to use most of them. That being said, could Steven's healing spit fix that?
It is harder for steven because his body is organic.
+Bob Job but then how did amethyst know stretching his body out all day would hurt him?
+Khayre Tyler probably because again she knows he's organic meaning his body has limitations
+Khayre Tyler She also said it would be bad, even for her. Stretching their bodies takes energy, but Steven doesn't just rely on his gem for energy. He needs rest and food. Stretching out for to long could do damage that might be irreparable because he's half human.
+Sardonyx Su fan 4 life With doritos and cheetos I can't believe that simply because peridot seems to lack more basic gem powers besides just shape shifting. she lacks super strength, can't jump high. if it weren't for her metal powers, she'd be as useful as any other human, minus combat skills like connie has. it's more than just suggestion keeping peridot from shape shifting
I've had a whole theory about how the Diamonds aren't as powerful as they may seem, peridot says their perfect beings with no flaws. But it makes sense that they want you to think those things to fear them and not rise against them. And we see blue diamond running away from a battle that would seem easy to her. Just a theory
There's something bugging me about Earthlings.
HUGE SPOILERS.
Jasper, an Earth-grown Quartz was able to fuse momentarily with what I can only assume is also an Earth-grown *corrupted* Quartz, then starts to experience corruption herself. It's implied (or even confirmed, can't remember) that fusions are both gems working in tandem and using some kind of bond to stay fused. It's even directly shown that they share thoughts. So what if Jasper experiencing corruption is a direct result of seeing/hearing/feeling those thoughts from the corrupted Quartz?
She even says, "I've been fighting from the second I broke free of the Earth's Crust! Because of what YOU did to my colony! Because of what YOU did to my planet! Because of what YOU did to my Diamond!"
Steven responds, "I- Y-Yellow Diamond?"
Jasper answers, "My Diamond! YOUR Diamond! PIIINK DIAMOOOOND!!!" and then completes the corruption (or so I think from what I just saw ;-;).
I don't think that was just *her* thoughts, though. I know Jasper hates Rose, but it seems like the contact with that corrupted Quartz sent her over the edge and.. let's face it, caused brain damage.
What do you think?
Yassss
I feel like a lot of a Gem's power has to do with mindset.
If they feel like they can't do it, or are riddled with their own insecurities then they simply can't for the most part.
id love to hear new theories!
He should do Star vs the forces of evil
AJ seems like a sci-fi buff, bet he'd have some fun Star Trek or other sci-fi theories.
true
Go ahead and expand.
Yup!
I'd like to politely disagree with Peridot's supposed shapeshifting capabilities. While they may seem similar, shapeshifting and reforming are fairly different. reforming is creating a semi-permanent avatar to interact with the outside world, while shapeshifting is the temporary ability to change that permanent form into something less sustainable for a shorter amount of time. The Centipeedle saw Steven freaking out, and readjusted its permanent form into something less threatening, before the larger form takes full effect. Amethyst temporarily shapeshifts into a bird, a very unsustainable avatar, as she already has a permanent, humanoid form.
Peridot is capable of changing her permanent form via reforming after being poofed, but incapable of temporarily changing her form into anything less sustainable.
it is confirmed that Rose and Jasper where made on Earth!
It wasn't... but it was confirmed that Rose and Jasper were made for Pink Diamond
Bill Smith Well we are sure at least that jasper is from earth
+The Ener Source Smith is my favorite gem.
Rose was most likely was made on home world. Jasper was made on earth
+Jordan Book Bismuth said Rose was formed on Earth.
I actually really like the idea that newer gems were lied to in order to avoid any future rebellions.
I thought she used her metal power to keep those limb enhancers still? And those fingers weren't just simply floating
ABOUT THE SHAPE-SHIFTING PART.. I HAVE A SORTA-THEORY
so gems have mass manipulation abilities or something of that kind..
they may rearrange the electrons/neutrons/protons to their bidding to morph their form
or transform all the surrounding matter into pure energy and then morphing the pure energy into matter
or they could "make" matter from the void which is very, very unlikely
all of which can have a bright light byproduct (why they shine a white light when they form)
but then... in the shorts, they said that they were like holograms but with mass..
so it may be the second and/or third..? i don't know.. but the fact remains that light IS massless
so all gems have this mass manipulating property (whatever you want to call it) embedded in the gem itself..
so there are sub-branches of this property depending on the application/time
- REFORMING (or forming if it is the first time the gem form) this happens when a gem (the gem itself) forms a
body (it forms the mannequin-ish frame.. or the mannequin is kinda like programmed to each specific gem)
- POST-FORMING (or commonly known as shape-shifting) is the ability to change your form with a defined body
as to peridot not having this ability.. it could be that some standard are needed to be met to attain this ability;
either the resources in making the gem, programming the gem to have/not to have post-forming abilities,
or it can be that peridot just can't shape-shift because she is new to the idea (could be a psychological thing)
or that she is a little "rusty"
- FUSION is a post-forming activity with other gems (peridot having the capability to fuse is up to debate)
- SUMMONING is a kind of reform after you reform (if that makes sense) examples are the gem weapon summoning
my theory to summoning is that data of the subject is stored in the gem (or memory idk) and that the gem just
manipulates the matter and stuff to form things.. but about pearl summoning lapis and her mirror... can gems store
other gems?? plus.. i think the ability to bubble is part of summoning (but steven has a broader skill set either
from rose practicing bubbling all the time in her past life that she can widen the use of bubbling and this skill
embedded in her gem, passed the ability to steven (i theorize that this is how steven can summon rose's shield,
because the shield's data is stored in rose's gem)... so bismuth makes weapons and the crystal gems stores them
in their gem, from what i understand
plus i also believe that lion's pocket dimension is kinda like their ability... a REALLY professional technique
of shape-shifting to the point you can create your own world (rose's room could be subject to this)
not connected the theory i made.. what if the bright light (or "song") that the diamonds used to the gems in the war
has something to do with the bright light emitted in reforming gems??
and is corruption like a virus? (from the episode earthlings)
PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG WITH THIS
HI HAHAHHAHA
I gave up reading like 1/3 into the comment so have a like
There's no such thing as too many AJ theories. I say go for it.
Actually, in Kindergarten kid, the newest episode, it's shown that peridot cant poof, or at least had a hard time poofing. an entire boulder falls on top of her and she doesn't poof. Maybe she can't shape shift because she can't reform, which id why she can't poof
We've seen her poof and reform before.
Garnet, a fusion, was needed to poof her. Peridot did go through a lot of shit throughout The Kindergarten Kid, and neither did she poof nor did her gem crack. Of course, it could have been just a giant tongue in cheek thing because the whole episode seems to be a Roadrunner/Coyote parody.
it's how they get her into the temple.
Which episode did Peridot poof in? I don't quite recall it
I'm not sure I see how you connected "this is for kids" to "nothing you say matters"
peridot seemed unaware that she was reforming, if she isn't aware of reforming than she wouldn't be able to make conscious changes to her form, and if she couldn't make changes to her form while reforming than she definitely wouldn't be able to shapeshift, or maybe even make a weapon but we've heard nothing about that
I think that she was using her powers from the very beginning but Homeworld gave her limb enhancers to make it look like limb enhancers are doing the trick - not she herself. So when she lost limb enhancers she thought she has no power because she thought she just simply couldn't. It turned to be false when in episode Too Short To Ride she tries to use her power in act of desperation even if she knows it won't work... and it worked.
maybe metal was rare on peridots home planet, and all peridots have this ability!
so metal is used for limb enhancers and stuff so it is the only thing that peridots really have connection with! however on earth, metal is more common! peridot would never discover her powers if she never went to earth!
Hang on, hang on, I still stand by the idea that Pearl and Peridot are unable to shapeshift.
Why?
Imagine you're a student making an animated film, but you only have the resources to animate existing models rather than make new ones, because your computer isn't good enough or you don't have the software for making new models, so all you can do is re-texture or possibly tweak the existing model you're given and animate it, which means all your characters look the same except for having different colours... well it's not a perfect analogy but you see what I'm saying? Maybe the resource shortage means that new Gems are made without the "software" to shapeshift (for lack of a better term).
Pearl has shapeshifted on screen.
AJ Universe
Only her clothes, that's like re-texturing your model. She always refuses to change her overall body-shape.
***** It's still shapeshifting. Their clothing are part of their bodies.
AJ Universe
Did you not get the analogy with only being able to make small tweaks to your model?
Okay, so forget the student animator.
You know the game "The Sims" has a big custom-content-making community? A lot of people will just make clothes designs because that's the easiest thing to make, you get software with the game that lets you do that, but making custom objects requires proper modelling software, so I would equate changing clothes to making new Sim outfits and changing shape to making new custom models. Similarly it's possible that some Gems lack the "software" component or the processing power to change their overall shape, so can only build upon their generic mannequin and make small changes to their overall design, like making a new outfit for your Sim character.
Actually that analogy was probably even worse and probably needed even more specific knowledge...
Well anyway.
I'm just saying it's a plausible alternative, not necessarily saying your notion is invalid.
***** Okay, but SU isn't the sims. In SU the Gems generate clothing as part of their bodies. That clothing isn't just a texture. It has depth to it. And they are only able to change it using their shapeshifting power, or by reforming. Pearl has changed her clothing without reforming. Therefor she can shapeshift. It don't matter how many times you compare that act to something else, in the lore of the series, it is shapeshifting.
I have never clicked on a video so quick lol
facts
me neither
Same!
***** :D
+Smokey Quartz how on EARTH did you get your picture to be Smokey Quartz so quick?!?!?!😱😱
so peridot is divergent.
I guess
When you clicked on the vid because Peridot 💚
SMOKEY QUARTZ IS REALLLLL
AND A FUSION OF STEVEN AND AMETHYST :D
Well it was their very first time fusing. Just look at what Garnet looked like at first!
+Generic Gametag well, that's very mean you hoser.
And the pun queen!
#SmokeyQuartzIsDaBOMB
Peridot doesn't have ferrokinesis bc that's the ability to control metal that is iron or an alloy of iron. She has the ability to control all metal bc in Beta she manipulates brass and even says " with my metal abilities."
I guess you could call it metalkinesis
+TheThirdMinescateer yerboi no.. ferrokinesis refers to all metals.
Magnokinesis (I think that's how you spell it) is the ability to control iron and iron alloys. Ferrokinesis refers to all metals and metal based substances.
+SomeRegular Reshiram ferro means iron kinesis means ability to control so ferrokinesis means the ability to control iron/ iron alloys
+TheThirdMinescateer yerboi that's not how it works... ferrOkinesis relates to all metals. FerrIkinesis relates to iron specifically.
Last time I was this early, homeworld was still at war
how was sand back than
I really hope we get to see Peridot fuse or form a weapon in the future. I love her.
this is your channel, do what you'd like with it c:
personally I'd be interested in hearing you talk about other subjects
did jasper get corrupted because she fused with a corrupted gem?
I think
yeah because when your fused u share thoughts
I guess brain damage transfers over when you share a mind and brain with someone
Yes, it has been shown that Gems share memories through fusion, maybe Jasper picked up the memory of the song that turned the gems corrupt, causing her to become corrupt as well
Possibly, but my theory on corruption is this:
It's based on emotion. Emotions are powerful in the Gem world. Steven started learning how to control and expand his powers through emotion. The emotional reaction Peridot had over her tablet unlocked her powers. When Ruby and Sapphire refused on the ship and was happy to be reunited she put up a much better fight against Jasper. Jasper's anger fueled her power one minute but her pride brought her down. If you recall right before Jasper corrupted she said something about no Gem wanting to stay fused with her. That is it! Depression, real sorrow and abandonment. The feeling that her purpose was lost consumed her. A Crystal Gem understands they have the freedom to choose their own purpose, however, Home World Gems serve a specific purpose only. Those are the two paths a Home World Gem could follow. If they realize they can serve their own purpose (be their own master) then they defeat the chance of corruption. If they succumb to the downward spiral of losing their purpose then they begin to corrupt. That weapon that was used might not have been a song that causes corruption. It may have been a song that ressonates a certain frequency to shatter Gems. This would have killed countless Gems, Home World or Crystal Gem alike. Those who were left witnessed everyone they knew shatter. Garnet and Pearl had Rose to look up to and though they may have been sad they knew their purpose was to help who they could find. Home World Gems that survived would have been lonely and wander aimlessly trying to find others unable to fulfill their purpose and filled with grief they would have over the thousands of years corrupted. Just a theory... Thanks for reading.
omg JASPAR'S DIAMOND WAS PINK DIAMOND AND SMOKEY QUARTZ! What do you think about all of it?
Jasper*
+Emma Tong no no, Jaspar was right
I hope jasper gets uncorrupyed and pink diamond leads to it
+Generic Gametag Jasper become corrupted :DD
AMAZING!
5:05 Could that be why Period is so small as well?
Yeah. I imagine that Era One Peridots were closer in size to Peridot with her enhancers.
+AJ Universe Hey AJ Gems make their weapons so does that mean Peridot wont have a weapon? You can find that evidence in Bismuth in the forge when Bismuths talking to Amethyst and will you do a theory on this?
Jesse Bell Myers Gem Weapons are projected by the Gem's gemstone. They're holograms. Bismuth made material weapons for Gems who weren't able to summon Gem Weapons. It's all pretty explicit. There's nothing to theorize about.
+AJ Universe K that makes more sense
+AJ Universe Isn't a weapon in sort of a way related to shapeshifting. I mean to make a gem weapon is the same as projecting their bodies it's just a hologram with mass, so if Peridot can shapeshift it would pretty much confirm she could make a weapon. Although this doesn't explain ehy all gem weapons are the same
Well, I'd definitely be willing to watch other theories, so long as they're about shows I watch. Definitely. XD
Any theory by AJ is a good theory.
Sapphires what's their weapon
That's not a valid question, since not all Sapphires would have the same Gem Weapon.
AJ Universe My point is Sapphire hasn't ever summon a weapon meaning the ability of fusion doesn't always mean a weapon.
+Gabriel Schmidt (BluePower101) i think sapphires dont have weponds since they tell future but in one of the steven universe episodes we did see sapphire sitting in the motel bed slowly freezings the room, so i possibly think that sapphires abilities are to freeze stuff and tell the future
Xx_Kawaii Muffin_xX yes but ruby has the ability of heat so what she has two weapons my point was not all gems have the ability to summon weapons for sure Bismuth just shapes shifts.
Amethyst came out late because she was planted too close to the ground, delaying and stunting her growth.
That's never been said. In fact, Peridot implied the exact opposite in the most recent episode.
How so? I remember Peridot noting that Amethyst's hole was 'too small' and 'too low.' If the height wasn't important to Amethyst coming out late, why did Peridot mention it?
Parker Sprague Because that's how she was able to identify it as Amethyst's hole, by comparing the size of the hole to Amethyst herself.
AJ Universe ...but how did Peridot imply that it was a lack of resources?
Also, when I said "if the height wasn't important," I was trying to refer to the distance of the hole to the ground, not the dimensions of the hole itself. My bad.
AJ Universe ...Hello?
Peridot is becoming the next magneto. Wait, so can't peri control all other magnetism? I'm curious
+Yegean Torresq in the episode Beta she controlled brass and referred to her powers as " metal powers" so I think she can control all metals
She seems to be able to control all metal, but her abilities are pretty useless overall now except for extremely rare occasions.
Maybe it's because Peridot isn't in the right state of mind to do so. If +AJ Universe is right, and Peridot really was controlling her limb enhancements on her own, than that means that the entire time Peridot had them, she was taught that it was the limbs' doing; that she was just tapping into the machine, rather than the machine tapping into her. I think that if she ever realizes that it was never the machine, she will be able to control any metal and not just a few kinds and mostly in snap decisions.
*****
Magneto can pretty much do all the magnetic stuff, though. Like the guy moved the effing magnetic poles at one point!
*****
I'm pretty sure that's not how that works. If you held a super powerful fridge magnet up it wouldn't change the effing magnetic poles, and that's the type of magnetism that ferromagnetism is.
I actually had that theory as well. because it seems to me that she concentrates on whatever she is controlling, such as the tablet or her limb enhancers. she used the powers lightly simply associating the powers with the enhancers and never realized it was her own ability. but without the limb enhancers which probably increased the force of the pherokenisis, she feels like it's a new thing to learn, but explains why she can do it so easily in the episode earthlings. she is reacting to danger unexpectedly and unintentionally like when she first used the blaster on her limb enhancers.
I'm definitely willing to hear your theories on media other than SU. I enjoy your consistent thoughtfulness, I'm sure I'd enjoy hearing what you have to say about some other media, whether or not I'm familiar with it.
I think the reason that peridot has ferrokeenness is to control her limb enhancers. But that's just my theory.
Oh nvm
+Dub Mic Step it makes sense
while I do think homeworld lied about abilities, I don't think it extends that far. too much of a risk that someone would find there abilities on accident. I'm sure the limb enhancers are just really good tech
Very good theory. It would make sense...
Sorry but Peridot stated that her shortness is due to her rarity and something else. Like Saphire
And Amethyst would have been the last gem created there. All the life and nutrients had already been absorbed. Shes not truely overcooked, shes incomplete
that's not how it works, also amethysts are formed due to them being exposed to radiation giving them their violet color. which means, when amethyst was in the ground she was close and more likely exposed to an irradiated element under her and seeing as how she was left in the ground longer than other quartz gems it caused her to become overcooked. so she's not incomplete, more like the opposite.
When did she state this? I'm really curious. She said in too short to ride that due to homeworld having a lack of resources, is why she came out so short and tiny.
Just Deer Things she said that due to the lack of resources is why gems, like peridot are being made with little to no abilities. Which was obviously a lie
No. What about the episode where Jasper and Peridot trapped steven, pear, amethyst, lapis, ruby and sapphire on that spaceship. Peridot was tall. She was almost the size of Jasper. Maybe that was a different peridot.
Can you give me a short sentence on how you feel about Smokey Quartz
gast amazing walla top notch
Shes so funny
They just keep on yo-yoing
I like her upbeat sort of sassy attitude
They are absolutely perfect.
In response to your question about other theory videos: Go for it, dude! I could listen to you ramble on all day. You're my all time favorite theorist. You might even introduce us to more awesome shows. Thanks for all the content, AJ. You're doing a great job.
I think Amethyst actual ended up using MORE resources. Bismuth called her "Deep cut" which is a technique used in gem cutting to give the gem more color at the cost of cutting away more of the crystal (paralleling color to power and size to... size), which is why her shapeshifting is exceptional.
I disagree with your first argument. Gems are a lot like computers. Most Gems we have seen up until now have had the ability to reshape themselves however they like as long as they can sustain that from. It was one of their apps, so to say. That doesn't have to mean that every Gem has to have that ability. Especially after the war.
Not every computer has Firefox, for example.
And look at it from the Diamonds' point of view. Gem technology is far enough advanced now and can make up for shape-shifting. And limb-enhancers are also more powerful because they have additional functions the Gem doesn't have to sustain. So why waste resources on powers Gems do not need? Especially if they are Gems who specialize in this new technology?
And shape-shifting is basically Changing Who You Are, which is what led to the rebellion in the first place. A Gem didn't do what it was made to do and rebelled. It makes sense that the Diamonds' would want to take that ability away from new Gems to prevent that from happening again. It makes sense that they'd get a predetermined form instead. It's not like there is something like Gem fashion (at least not yet).
Supporting this is the fact that Peridot looks exactly the same before and after she was poofed and reformed. Of course, she has to look the same, she has to wear a uniform and everything. But there wasn't even a little difference.
And if Gem Weapons are an extension of shape-shifting (if you didn't say it, I did), it makes sense that Peridot hasn't learned how to make one of her own yet. She hasn't even asked to learn how, or tried it on her own.
Fusion, though, shouldn't be a problem because Peridot can just "borrow" the shape-shifting ability of Ameth--, I mean, her fusion partner. Whoever they may be.
nah you don't know that all abilities are tied together. You shouldn't make your own lore
He did say he was just speculating a lot of stuff.
look up season 1 again in the beginning pearl stated all gems have basic common abilities like shape shifting, fusion, summoning, some externa weaponl, bubbling etc....
Average Joe She hasn't gotten info from home world in more than a thousand years.
She's still been alive for at least as long as Garnet has been a fusion which is 5700 years. I'm sure those gem abilities have been around for a while.
Shapeshifting/Fusion/Physical construct (a body) are just speculation but it's based logical context. If you can make a body and you can make alterations to that body well I hate to break it to you but that's shapeshifting.
I can't say that making a weapon is actually part of that line up
Just because you can reform obviously doesn't mean shapshifting. The limb enhancers could just strengthening peridots weak powers instead of replacing them
Can you show your reaction for the episode
+AJ Universe when do you think the review or beta/earthlings will be out?
then that makes you a MVP
+AJ Universe
I think the creators are gonna eventually show what happened to pink diamond
or what rose did to jasper's colony
because on episode earthlings jasper said
my diamond your diamond
PINK DIAMOND!!!
+cookiezillaevan a corrupted cluster perhaps?
She cracked Pink Diamond. They tell us when the Rubys return episode
I read a theory that peridot was just born and was made especially for the mission. You can see that she's surprised by her own by her own power when she had her limb enhancers. And she is inexperienced about using her fingers to fly. Even tho she has done it before she is still not used to it so she's literally just a kid, she really is still learning.
You should absolutely give your other theory a shot! I'm sure a lot of us would love to hear it! This is your channel, you do what feels right AJ! Keep up the amazing work! ^_^
But...
When Peridot reformed, her outfit didn't change. Maybe it doesn't have to, but every other gem has changed their appearance when reforming. So why didn't she?
Maybe era 2 Peridots only have one specific body that can't be transformed. And maybe Peridot didn't know she would be unable to create a new outfit with a star.
But she did fuse with Garnet that one time...
+Signe Ora (Marta) Wrong, actually. She attempted to, but never even got close.
If gems reform quick enough they can keep pre-poof form
i think she just didn't know that she could, or she did know that she could but was sure that if she did she would be punished
or maybe she didn't even realize she was reforming, because she continued doing what she was doing before she poofed and didn't realize that she had been poofed
+Liam Hassall not at all. Amythest has the quickest reformations we've seen, and she has to constantly change her form. peridot either probably made the tiniest adjustments to her form (maybe adding socks) or its a continuity error (the creators just saying well no limb enhancers can as reformation)
These assertions are unfounded. You're assuming you know these things, simply because they've held true thus far. Not that guessing about these things is wrong, we wouldn't have theories otherwise, but stating that something is 'simply true', while possible, is unwarranted.
+Sylpho
He said that the second half was speculation. He spent the first half insisting that any gem able to form a body would have to be able to be able shapeshift and summon a weapon, which, while understandable, is not necessarily true.
Summoning weapons and regenerating their physical forms, shapeshifting, and hings similar to those are all things that Gems can do, some with actual weapons, some with elemental manipulation, and some with both. Rubies have been shone to be able to manipulate heat and summon weapons from their Gems, Sapphire uses her future vision and ice manipulation, Lapis uses Water, Amethyst and Quartz soldiers in general have the spin dash like attacks, weapons, and quite possibly other abilities like Rose and her healing tears. Peridots are made to be intellegent, so quite possibly they are made to be scientists, Pearls are made-to-order Gems that are customised to.their.owners will, that means that a Pearl can have their powers other than regeneration amd shapeshifting away, Bismuths are forgers that can make anything from weapons to complex structures, they can survive temperatures as hot as magma, and have shapeshifting abilities. There are many things that are the same with each and every Gem the ability to manipulate their physical form, if the Gem weapon can be made from parts of the body like Garnet's gauntlets or Bismuth's hammer hands then summoning a weapon is incredibly close to manipulating the physical forms appearence. I lost myself half way.through this so if any of this doesn't make sense that's why.
+David Reed
Let me provide a counterpoint:
Bismuth's shapeshift ability appears to be slightly different than that of most gems. She seems to be able to harden parts of her to serve as weapons. As hammers, this is at least a feasible extension if normal shapeshifting, but Bismuth is able to form her arms into blades. In order to make an effective blade, something has to be extremely hard, much harder than gems can be normally.
If Bismuth can have far stronger shapeshifting, then why can't Peridots have weaker shapeshifting abilities?
Because bismuth was a bismuth. You must have heard this next comment at least 30 times on this page, but hopefully it clicks this time. All gems are unique and have different abilities. Bismuth's were born with that technique to harden her body part is because shes a bismuth. Which, not to be a jerkoff off to you, should have went without saying its 'understandable' because Bismuth is a Black Smith.
zzmarquisduncan467
How does that contradict anything I said? Bismuths have a different shapeshifting ability then most gems, then it is obviously possible to have stronger or weaker shapeshifting.
Unless you're arguing that Bismuth's hardening ability is completely separate from shapeshifting, which is possible, even if I'm not convinced. If you think about it, gems can change the physical attributes of their body when they shapeshift. When amethyst turns herself into a cat, for example, her entire body has hair, and I'm pretty sure she's more elastic when she turns into a ball. I can't be completely certain, of course, but I'm pretty sure that whatever a gem turns into would have slightly different textures and physical properties.
Bismuths seem to simply have a drastically heightened version of this ability, giving the required abilities for blacksmithing and construction.
Gem weapons are built by Bismuth's not by the gem
No, Bismuth built material weapons for Gems who couldn't make Gem Weapons, or didn't want to use them in combat. The episode Bismuth told us that.
you should really listen to dialogue
bismith's only make weapon add-ons not just weapons for gems that couldn't generate any
you got wrong bismuth said bismiths build gem temples etc
OUR bismuth is the one who makes weapons.
the Crystal Gems Bismuth made weapons because she wanted to, Bismuths in home world were functioned to make buildings, not weapons.
This sounds believable, but unfortunately, I think Diamond Days disproved this when Amethyst wore limb enhancers as she was just as able to manipulate the fingers.
there was a theory i read a while back, that it was possible that peridot got her powers due to being in the bathroom for so long. She admited to using Stevens toothbrush, which could have possiblly made her gem more powerful or giving her powers or giving her both. there was so much of stevens DNA in the bathroom, and we've already seen proof of this.
peridot should have been cracked by now, she's fallen off of cliffs, been crushed and even more.
peridots and amethyst have the same hardness, and amethyst fell off of an even shorter cliff that peridot, and her gem was cracked (I think that episode was called indirect kiss) and peridots has never been cracked.
plus, peridot gets her metal ability after being in that bathroom.
That's not how Steven's healing powers work. If it were, all of the Gems would be equally invincible with the amount of time they spend around him. Amethyst's damaged gem would have just sealed right up because she had some residual Steven skin cells on her.
Amethyst's gem landed directly on a large stone. Peridot landed on sand. Peridot herself said that Peridots' holographic bodies are unusually durable. The visor over her gem? That's part of her unusually durable holographic body.
And again, as I said in the video, Peridot has always had Gem powers. Just forming a body is a Gem power. The crew has said, and it has been made clear in the series, that Gems come out of the ground with all of their capabilities already available to them. Since Gems don't grow or develop physically. They just might need to learn how to access some of them. If Peridot has metal powers, she's had them since she came out of the ground.
tl;dr That's not how Steven's power works, that's not how Gem powers work, that theory is quantifiable wrong.
I this you should change the title and thumbnail. it's a bit click-baity
If you think that, then you don't know what click-bait is. The title isn't click-bait, and the thumbnail definitely isn't. They both stay.
What I mean is that the title sounds like a Theory that says "Lure we got in the series is wrong!"
+AJ Universe gfdyfjfjfbdjej HELP fhfdjdjdffhh ME difgg fjfjfbfbfbfbfbffhjffbfb
Doggy Tooner If that were that I was trying to say with the title, I would say it. The title sets the stage for exactly what the video itself says. Click-bait is when a title or thumbnail contains buzz words or images that do not pertain to the video content, and are only there to bait people into clicking. What I did is called coming up with an eye-catching title.
Yeah this isn't click bait dood.
can only quartz shape-shift?
No, because garnet can shapeshift.
Almost all gems can Shapeshift... Such as Garnet and Pearl for instance
No, all gems can shapeshift. We've seen Garnet do it and her gems would be classified as a neosilicate.
+Atlas Pyro pearl said in cat fingers all gems have the powers to shapeshift
+alien dude I know.
This is a good theory, but your voice has no emotion xD
literally half of all teachers in existence
I'm totally fine with you expanding your content because it would be a shame if this channel died after the ending of SU and I don't want to see that happen so I will support you with expanding your content.
I agree with the idea that her limb enhancement fingers are controlled by her powers because when she poofs they fall away from their last position, meaning that they were controlled by something peridot lost when she poofed, like her mind, powers, or even her regular fingers.
I would love to see theories about other shows from you!!!!
I felt like Peridot was lied to about her powers because era 2 gems have much stronger powers. It's been stated that Lapis' "gem weapon" is her water abilities, so it makes sense that Peridot's metalbending is her "gem weapon". If this is seen as too powerful, Homeworld might cover it up to, as you said, try to halt another rebellion. I mean, once Peridot learns to control her powers, she could take down entire fleets possibly, since spaceships are most likely metal. That's an ability that would be hard to combat.
Gotta expand the business man, i wouldn't mind seeing new theories about other shows. Often times you analyze the given data and then make predictions that sound good and plausible, that's why you're my favorite theorist, dude! :)
I always questioned peridot's abilities; she couldn't apparently summon a weapon, but when they first visited the moon base in "it could have been great", she was able to project a beam of light, so I knew she had gem abilities. I was suspicious of what abilities she has though. After all, in "the kindergarten kid" she says 'we peridots are hard to poof'
I can't promise that I'll be interested in every show you make theory videos about, but I think you should give it a go! It's never a bad idea to expand your audience and try something new. Good luck!
This is likely because to Homeworld, Gems that fuse or shape shift outside their perceived design is greatly frowned upon, perhaps even illegal to do. The best way to keep another uprising from ever happening again is to stupefy the populace.
Garnet carrying Peridot is too *CUUTEEE*
I think it's a good idea to do other theory videos besides Steven Universe. but really it's your channel, you pick what you put up on it.
im pretty sure that if sugar ever saw one of these theory videos she would be like "even I wasn't thinking about that and im the show creator!"
Happily, you're a good theorist and annalist. Other theories for other shows or genres would be great, especially if it helps expand your channel and passions or future avenues.
Amethyst and Steven had that whole issue of maintaining larger form's for extended periods. I'm guessing reforming requires a set of energy, but shape shifting requires much more energy and maybe a stunted gem can't expend that energy
The clips from "Kindergarten Kid" kind of show that Peridot's form is MUCH MUCH more stationary in form than the other gems. So I can believe now that we have seen how hard it is to poof Peridot. What her form lacks in transformation ability she more than makes up for in stability and pure endurance.
This is one of the few theories I actual believe! I totally agree with your comparison of peridot and Amethyst , and it makes perfect sense to repress the homeworld population to stop another rebellion. I can't wait to see more episodes, of you and of steven universe!!
would totally watch a video about theories related to other topic from your mind. Seeing what you've done with SU all this time is a clear indicator that the content will be interesting.
I like your theories, and how you present them, which you're very good at. I'd love to see what you could do with other series.
adventure time! I know it's an older show, but as I'm re-watching the episodes to catch back up (and to hold me over in between steven universe episodes) I continue to think of how AWESOME it would be to hear your opinions on the story. I love your theories and reviews! I think many would enjoy you sharing your ideas on other shows aside from Steven universe. personally, I would love you to start covering adventure time. :)
so many games movies and TV shows could benefit from the way you analyze and create theories, I find it a shame top-secret limit yourself to just this series .you made my experience of SU richer because of your series and I can't wait what you touch and turn into gold next
Other theory vid's, i'd defiantly watch.
I'd love to see what you can come up with.
you've got great content, keep it up!
I'm totally cool with theories on other shows. The channel is yours to do what you want and it would be great to see a variety of topics from you.
I definitely would like to see more of your thoughts and theories on other subjects. You go where your curiosities take you and we'll follow along.
i think that he's right about the diamonds hiding the abilities of era 2 peridots because they're afraid of another rebellion but i also think that they give them these powers so the diamonds can access them during war.
I SEE WHAT YOU"RE DOING EVERY TIME PERIDOT TALKS LMAOOO NICE TIMING!
I TOTALLY wanna see Peri get poofed and reform with a star on her clothes. But heaven forbid they change her hair too much. People would freak if peri wasn't our little space dorito anymore.
AYYYYYYYYYY, i would like to hear your theories about other shows/media, your theories seem solid and backed up. but I think the diamonds did lie for the sake to quell rebellion, especially because the remaining diamond(s) (I think it is only yellow diamond still out there) would want to protect herself.
I can't wait to see the review for Beta/Earthlings. I had to literally scream my reaction out.
Ur theory makes even more sense after Earthlings, when Jasper is like "WHAT DID THEY DO 2 U PERI" and mentioned her limb enhancers making her "strong"
I'd be OK with other types of theorize so long as they are engaging and we'll put together. Done it AJ!
I agree completely. The way Jasper talks about gems' purpose in Beta and Earthlings reinforces it.
You should absolutely do other theories, love hearing your stuff!
I think the idea of doing theories on different topics is good. I wish you all the best of luck with it.
