- Hello Skaters! Today I am teaching you the fifth and final of a handful of HIIT exercises on ice! We will also be putting all 5 exercises together into one complete HIIT workout today. Coach Julia has been skating (first on roller and then on ice) for over 30 years. She was a competitive skater until she turned 21 when she got her first contract as a professional show skater. Julia has been a figure skating coach for 17 years, is a USFS Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, and an ISI Gold Level certified judge. She has held positions as the Skating Director of the largest skating program in the United States, as well as Head Coach at two different skating clubs. She was named the ISI 2022 Coach Of The Year for District 13 and 14! Julia has now turned her skills towards a larger audience and is bringing her love and knowledge of skating to all of you!

I tried it yesterday - soooo great! It works - after 3 laps my legs were burning 👍💪 the most difficult for me was surprisingly curtsey lunges - it is great exercise for balance. Thank you, Julia for sharing these videos! 🙏🏻

At the rink right now in the middle of pre-lesson practice. I just did an axel!!! It wasn’t pretty, but I landed and checked out!!! Yay!!! (The irony of this is that I slightly twisted my left ankle doing toe loops before the axel…)
Edit: Got back from the rink, letting everything sink in…
I told coach at the beginning of the lesson about the axel, and boy did she give me hell…she cut everything (strokes, spins, footwork) short and went straight to jumps. They went pretty well until I started feeling the twisted ankle while doing flips. Somehow I grinded through (plus coach gave me a few free passes) and made it to axels with about an hour left. No way I could replicate the axel. So yeah, you guessed it, one full hour of crash torture…😱 Maybe I should’ve kept the excitement to myself…
