    The final scrunchy cadence is transcribed in Morley “ Plain and Easy …” as an example of what SHOULDN’T be done, and he provides an anodyne and acceptable alternative … one of his lapses! I like the way you do it without “bringing it out” and overemphasising it, because such things are beautiful as well as being part and parcel of the style! Thank you very much indeed everybody!

      It's in ABRSM's Harmony in Practice as well, which is how I ended up here 😀 It's covered in a less negative way though and merely as a demonstration of something done in its time.
