@supwell things are going very well, thanks! Supposed to move out of cardiac ICU to less intensive care today, then if all goes well home in a couple days.
The beanie situation ist interesting because I‘m with you big time 🙌 It‘s a split between being warm and looking good and that’s why I put a beanie on and on top I put the running head on. So looking good and being warm combined 😃
I picked up the Tecton X3 during the Black Friday sales and used it for a 23km trail run on the weekend and all I can say is wow! What an amazing shoe. The grip, stability, bounce and sheer speed of this shoe across all types of terrain were off the charts compared to my other trail shoes and it was just so much fun to run in. It felt like a beefed up version of the Rocket X2 for the trails. Love it.
I wore the Hobby Jogger hat at the PPTC 50 miler in sub 20 degree weather. Held up without any problems if anyone is questioning the durability/material for a long run. But agreed w/ Yowana that my ears also got cold lol. But I looked good while running so who cares!
OK, here's the thing..... I'll come to these sometimes when it dropped recently enough that nobody could have seen the whole thing yet. For example, an hour-long video is half an hour old. But there are always comments already there. As I'm typing this, I don't know if anybody could have made it to the end yet....but we're already commenting!
Tracksmith’s Brighton base layer is a must for me running in Ohio winters. I have two that I rotate through and they’re are holding up really well two years in. A discount code would be amazing!
I'm with you on handhelds. i always carry a bottle. i don't even notice it. I've carried one for both my 50 milers. i carried 2 for my BQ attempt and tossed one at the halfway point to my wife, lol. That's a little less ideal
Do you think the Hoka tecton x3 would be a good winter running shoe on snow? I have the superblast 2 and magmax as you mentioned in the best winter running shoes, but I don't know if they will be grippy enough for paths with bit thicker snow
Yeah definitely - this thing is a tank. For everyday winter running though I would get the Nike zegama over this. Similar comfort and near identical vibram outsole but you can get for much cheaper - around $100 on some sites or at Nike outlets. Unless I'm running fast on trails I wouldn't drop the $275 on the Tecton x3
Yo bro, how do you find the gopro’s battery life? I plan to get an insta360 go 3s because of it’s compact form factor (i can just clip it to my cap while I run) to bring on my marathons but I run 5 hour marathons 😂 I can’t be bringing powerbanks during a run lol
The hero13 has been great so far - much improved from the hero 8. It lasted me the entire time shooting from when we left the house to the end of the race, which took me 4 hours. Plus still had some life left. So if you're shooting every few miles and doing some talking here and there you should be good. If you're planning to roll it the entire time I'm not sure though - but for normal on and off though out a 5 hour run it'll def work. As I mentioned the only real negative is the low-light filming so it may struggle if you have an early morning start. I've heard some of the other brands are better for that but I'm just a GoPro loyalist 😂
Bro I love your content as it’s honest, independent and tested to the max! But this came across as an advertisement for a certain middle class running brand! Guess this is what happens when they send you gear, but keep it real as what you do in being independent is why we are here
He specifically said you don't need what you refer to as the "middle class running brand" to run a 50k. I certainly did not get advertisement energy from this video. If anything, he said some negative comments about them and no real positive notes other than they were free.
It wasn’t gear sent to him, rather stuff he already has irrespective of the brand, and he also mentioned all the other different brands: Nathan, Uniqlo, Hoka, GoPro, his Hobby Jogger, Tracksmith, Junji, Maurten, Coros, Smartwool, Feetures.
Came for the shoes but now here for yowana
Hobby Joggers = built different! Work, family, responsibilities... Still don't quit!
BIG FACTS
Wore the Hobby Jogger hat for my first marathon yesterday (California International Marathon). Thanks for all the vids and inspiration man.
Ayyy that is so awesome to hear! Congrats on CIM and finishing your first marathon 🙏🏽
Hurricane 24's Max Dad Swag!!! Looking forward to the Hurricane 25's
One of your best vids in a long time. Congrats!
Yowana, you're such a meticulous planner in so many areas of your preparation game. Goes to show how important it is to lock down everything.
Thanks man 🫡 btw hope the recovery is going well! We missed you on Friday but held it down on the kicks thread 💪🏽

That is so great to hear. Glad it's smooth sailing for you 🙌🏽
Ghost max is so comfy I bought both my sons a pair 🔥
Congrats on the ultra, loved your talk about DQ > DNF... and your jokes always make me laugh. Just bought a hat. Keep it rollin 🤘🏼
The beanie situation ist interesting because I‘m with you big time 🙌 It‘s a split between being warm and looking good and that’s why I put a beanie on and on top I put the running head on. So looking good and being warm combined 😃
Hahaha dude I honestly considered doing that

Good job CRUSHing your first ultra!
I really hope you're traveling with some kind of protection, especially to WV. Congratulations on the ultra.
I’m absolutely loving the Hoka Mafate Speed 4s. Feel like they’re light/comfy enough but have some decent lugs for traction for all kinds of surfaces
I've been wanting to try those but may hold out for the new Mafate 5s and mafate X next year - they both look so good!

can we put some respect on the topo cyclone 2 name. The streakfly everyone needed and didn't know they wanted.
😂😂😂
How do you hold the GoPro? Can you show us in an upcoming video?

@ appreciate the answer 🙏🏼
What’s the max stack equivalent for gear?
Wearing two pairs of joggers to stay warm 😂
2 pairs of pants is diabolical 😆 I burn tf up in 20 degrees in 1 pair of pants
lmao i have that thin carolina blood now. i could've gone triple tbh 😂

👍
Wearing regular cotton underwear for this is crazy. Get my guy some compression shorts.
Your watch let you down. Get one with proper turn by turn navigation
You had to end it with the Barefoot Mafia chickens. Keep on eye on those birds. I don't trust them.
Apple Watch, IPhone (don’t care what model), IPad, Mackbook Air, their batteries all SUCK!
