Excellent as always Bruce you did a great job with the photos of the stars. Had a chuckle at the diesel episode.....been there, done that, got the T Shirt. 🤣
Thanks for sharing Bruce, nice to see some new different spots. You are right about the vehicles they are all so different and yet the same. The best vehicle is the one that gets you out there.
Haha haha actually I didn’t. 😂😂 Can’t wait to share the zim trip so will probably start working on it in the next few days. Thanks very much for watching and commenting 👍
Thanks very much Bernard. It truest is a spectacular area. We are very fortunate to be able to travel there relatively easily. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment
Jeepers Bruce, for the second night in a row you've kept me up way past my bedtime. Loved the Botswana series! Man, those kitties in your campsite in part 2 must have been something else! Keep going - look forward to the new Zim series ..
haha. Thank you Deon, I am very glad you enjoyed them. Having the kitties in the campsite is certainly exciting and they make you realise how venerable and weak we are when in their environment. Thank you so much for staying up past your bed time watching the channel and for taking the time to comment.
thank you for showing me the new Landy capabilities , surely like you said before" you really don't need a rough and tough 4x4 to enjoy these places" my perception on air suspension has completely changed. What am witnessing is completely opposite to what ASPW said. about the new landy. Thank you am now evening considering buying VW Touareg because I now love air suspesion😄😆
Unfortunately some people are so bitter and are blinded by hate and sometimes their arrogance gets in the way too. I have now been using vehicles with air suspension for about 10 years, all over Southern Africa and not once did I have any problems. As with everything know the limitations. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Which part Rob. The part where I open the atlas that should be a warning to all traveling with me or when I (demonstrate😜 ) run out of fuel or the Kukonje island Campsite 🤣 Thank you for watching and commenting.
I would definitely love the old defender, the driving experience must be out of this world in that especially with the manual gearbox, maximum engagement.
They are brilliant but it's the type of vehicle you either love or hate to drive. Some can't get comfortable some can. I love them. Thank you for watching and commenting
Fantastic man, quickly becoming, or actually has become, my favourite channel at the moment. So easy going. I was looking forward to some coverage on the Nata bird sanctuary, but a really minuscule gripe 😊. Keep it up!
Wow thanks very much Graham. That’s a massive compliment thank you. I actually thought of that afterwards to be honest but after arriving late and leaving the next morning I honestly didn’t even think of it. Sorry about that. Thanks so much for your support. It is truest appreciated. Thank you
Thank you for sharing your trip Bruce. Funny enough running out of fuel may be a rookie mistake an adventure all together and definitely a special thanks to the brothers for rescuing you!!! looking forward to the next episode
Another super mega video Bruce. Merry Christmas and hoping you and the family are having an amazing one. It was amazing meeting you. Such a humble soul. Looking forward to many more encounters with you.
Thanks so much mate. So great to meet you and your two ladies also. I hope to see you out there soon. Thank you for watching again mate. Appreciate the support
Just right, a relaxing really good drive through interesting terrain and scenery, with an equally relaxed commentary. Once again, I really enjoyed this episode, thanks very much Bruce. By the way, it's Sua Pan. Sowa is the name of the nearby town. Funny how many people get them confused.
That’s what I thought I said. Also sua which is sometimes spelt sowa is a Tswana word for salt. Sowa district is below Nata and to the west of Dukwe. Sua pan is the entire paneast of Nwetwe pan Thanks for watching and commenting Brian.
Bruce, new to your channel (after also buying a new Defender, and loving it! Would you ever consider taking along others on some trips? Would love to join (and willingly pay).
Thanks very much. Hope you have many happy miles. I am not a qualified guide so can’t really take tours but I do often organise meet-ups and get togethers. If you on Instagram or Facebook keep a look out for those. We also have a new defender WhatsApp group. Email me through my website and I will add you to it Thank you for watching and commenting
Great Video thanks Bruce. I also had brand new Tough Dogs on my Companion and also fail on the first trip. Had to do return trip only on coils. I replaced them with Monroe's and happy so far.
Thanks very much Paul. Yes those shocks are a massive disappointment especially since they knew there was a problem with them and they did nothing. One thing I can say about Conqueror is although I like their products their QC and quality of certain components needs to be improved. A recall should have been issued by Tough Dog and Conqueror as far as I am concerned. Thank you for watching and commenting Paul.
Not sure what happened with your Tough Dog shocks, but I also had a bad experience with their brand new shocks and the after service was shocking, and will never look at them again Great video to watch, as usual 🙌🙌
Thanks very much. What disappointed me is that when I took the van in after the trip I was told that there had been a bad batch and had been a few complaints. I cont believe that Tough Dog never issued a recall on the batch. That alone says a lot to me about the company. Conqueror were great at sorting them out for me. Thank you for watching and commenting.
True in some cases but not all: From www.botswana.co.za/Botswana_Regional_Info-travel/botswana-fast-facts.html “There are many very straight roads in the southern parts of Botswana and from the air a number of straight lines can be seen on the ground, some cleared and some seemingly overgrown. These are from the diamond prospecting days when graders were used to clear straight grid lines on the ground for the prospecting. The diamond corporation De Beers needed a checkered grid to assist in the prospecting and today many of these clearings have been incorporated into the road network, whilst other have been left to grow over.” Thank you for watching and commenting
Thanks very much. Not sure what happened and apart from deleting it and trying to load it again not sure how to fix. Thanks for letting me know. And thanks for watching again.
@@OverlandingwithBruce what you could try is to use the RUclips Studio editor and just drop in a new section of sound in the blank spot... might work. It allows basic sound editing after the video is uploaded.
Thanks very much Sven. They are both very capable and comfortable. The Defender has some benefits over the D5 like it’s plastic/rubber flooring but in all honesty there is not much difference for trips like this especially when on 18’s. The D5 seems more “fancy” though.
Hi Dudley. I don’t have a map but its basically the cut line north of Khama Rhino that runs from north of Francistown to the T junction at CKGR where we turned left (+_ south)
I traded the caravan when I got back to Johannesburg on a Conqueror which also had the same shocks that failed on their first trip. The funny thing was that they failed before getting to the rough stuff. The no name brand VW Amarock shocks that I purchased in Harare lasted the majority of the trip without issues so I believe they shocks are either bad quality or wrongly spec'd for the application. On all my Hilux's I use Ironman shocks now. Thank you for watching and commenting
Themba the safest way is to have your back covered like a car behind you and to have an “escape” plan. I also like to listen to what’s going on around me. There are often alarm sounds and warnings. Thank you for watching and commenting again.
Hi Bruce! I have a question about the cutlines/vet fences. How did you manage the vet fence coming from Nata southward to the start of the cutline down to Kukonje island? And also - there seems to be a vet check point some way down the cutline. Are you allowed beef meat across these fences going south?
Best is the check regulations before travelling on these cut lines even though there are no vet check points along them it’s best to follow the regulations at the time of travel.
I have been using Conqueror’s and Jurgens before that. I think it’s a very personal decision based on your needs. What works for me may not work for you so rather go and look at them and even rent one for a weekend to try different setups.
Hi. I just left it in auto. To be honest I also forgot to reset it a few times after stopping as it resets when the ignition is turned off. Had no problems at all.........except the small problem of fuel 😂 Thank you for watching
Nice one Bruce. I am now your fan.
Thank you Usinah. Really appreciate that and thank you for your support
