I have seen Mumbai's locals from 1981. Clearly the development of areas on the line, standards of living of people, etc...were best on the West (corporates, very good residential colonies, colleges, schools) followed by Central and last by Harbour line side (more of old textile mills, other old industries, illegal settlements in slums). Railways then focussed where money was higher. Now of course, lot has changed. There should now be no scope for discrimination. People now will demand equality.
Thanks for video, Navi Mumbai is Emerging City and still no update on Fast Corridor Since 2009. Its really frustrating for commuter who traveling from CSMT, Western and Central region. Harbour line really need fast corridor for better future.

Harbour line pe Siemens ki local chalti hai jo CR ke main network pe bhi chalti hai. Wo zamana gaya jab old trains chalate the uspe. Also, most harbour line trains are more punctual than CR and WR trains since ispe sirf 2 tracks hai and only EMU chalti hai, no express or freight traffic. Only problem of harbour is mega block on every sunday where CSMT to Mankhurd section is kept under maintenance and i don't know why coz is line pe sirf EMU traffic hai wo bhi har 5 minutes baad.
Central Railway feels like your best friend since childhood. It has always been with you through your ups and downs whereas harbour line feels like that new friend you make who you somewhat hate but still you have to bear with him everyday.
Worst on Harbour section was around Sewri Wadala Raoli camp junction, King's Circle to Mahim and between Kurla to Mankhurd. With slums running all over very close to tracks, slum dwellers killed so often, trains were running at less than thirty kph. Slum dwellers cannot be removed as they had political patronage cannot be removed. Later speed between Chembur and Mankhurd came down to just twenty kph and Railways were helpless. Later, after Trans creek extension to Vashi and Belapur, slums were moved back walls built and trains picked speed.
I usually covering Mumbai suburban local issues where many issues raised with railway from time to time. What is needed now is making addl. 2 line either elevated or ground to cater rosing demand. It is always crowded train need major relief

Well there were fast trains in Harbour line, but it wasn't continued because all stations became kinda important and due to limited tracks to run a fast train. So yes fast train are needed in Harbour line but it is still won't be available till there if are dedicated fast track given in Harbour line from Panvel to CSMT.

After that til mankhurd it lies in some lowly developed areas which still are important. And after that comes the most developed area of mumbai which is now a complete city, navi mumbai. I dont think I need to explain navi mumbai. So every stop is Important on the harbour line. Fast trains wont help. More trains and maybe a third track somehow will surely help or doing things like making a third platform on stations like chembur and mankhurd so that mor trims can be operated to and fro to panvel and csmt.

TBH if they really want to revive and make this network profitable they should have a parallel line from Swree to Uran .. it will complete a proper loop also for freight transport. For college, I Tavel from Andheri to CSMT on harbour line and return home from Churchgate to Andheri on the Western Line (small bus ride to go there). the difference in the two lines is miles ahead. WR is having trains with codes 5000 and above, which are the newer rakes and HL is stuck on 1000's. these trains are rusty, old and dirty. its such a crazy difference to go from a CSMT Slow in the morning to a Virar Fast AC in the afternoon. upgrades to the HL are much much needed
Still I see that the harbour line trains are the welded everywhere, with body alignment always irregular, brakes making uneven noise, unevenly painted, seat holes fixed with wooden planks, joints rusted, etc... probably the 1st gen retired yellow EMUs of Central Line are refurbished somehow and pushed to harbour line.
I think you don't traveling through Harbour line, as old DC coaches are running on Trans Harbour line only, although Harbour line treat as Step son but changes are doing by railway. New coaches launch at WR, then use on CR and lastly given to Harbour line.

There was a tussle between Maharashtra and Gujarat for Mumbai. It was nearly, decided to make it Union territory, but Maharashtra won and Mumbai was handed over to them. Harbour line especially Wadala to panvel requires fast line, it takes 1hr to travel wadala to panvel. Fast line stops could be vadala -> kurla -> nerul -> vashi -> belapur -> kharghar -> panvel.

The stretch between Mankhurd and Sewri is one of the filthiest in India, if not in the world. Dotted with slums and needless to say, notorious for several crimes .. and generally speaking , most of the travelling public in this stretch belong to the lower economic strata .
I have seen some locals while peeking out of the window while traveling to Dadar on 10104 Mandovi Express, and the locals were broken, had many dents, rusty on the top, it's the newer Bombairders ones but yeah Harbor Line is a dumpyard
Time has changed. In the last in 1920s and 30s harbour line was everything because it connects with port to every other part of india and even express trains used to run on it. But now harbour line is just old reliable.
Harbour line should get new trains and fast train also to connect mumbai and navi mumbai better. Old harbour trains can be further transferred to panvel karjat line, uran line, Panvel- Vasai lines in coming time.
Same we see in Indian railways. The condition of railways/trains and stations are far better in Northern,North central division, western,Central division. But if you see in Sounth central zone , the conditions of railways is not good. I have travelled in thses zones many times and I can tell the difference. Also , Northern India has good railway network as compared to other regions .(maybe due to plains, influence of british etc)
Harbour Line runs along Mumbai's dumping yards, and is itself a big dumping yard , as All old and retired trains from WR and CR are dumped on Harbour line. This practice is in vogue since the last 2 decades.

Can't blame railway... Virar is one extreme corner and Panvel is another extreme corner. Both so far away from the heart of the city and also far away from each other too. So its only natural the line between both will be having very sparse trains running and I feel it won't change anytime soon and gonna be like this only for atleast one or two decades.

Top states of Indian Union like Maharashtra should be given autonomy just like in European Union if it ever wants to become developed country.
Because most of the revenue generated by Maharashtra is given to Bimaru states. Maharashtra gets only ₹7 for each ₹100 GST paid to union government while Bihar gets more than ₹922.5. But it won't happen because Bimaru states can't run without Maharashtra's money 😢.
Mumbai is an island city and gets all the resources right from water and electricity from neighbouring parts of Maharashtra so rest of Maharashtra deserves the revenue of Mumbai. Also, politicians who you are blaming for Mumbai being part of Maharashtra and not being union territory are the same ones who developed this city and state.
What about other Union Territories? Why aren't they even as half developed as Mumbai (except Delhi which is the Capital)?

Harbour line especially Wadala to panvel requires fast line, it takes 1hr to travel wadala to panvel. Fast line stops could be vadala -> kurla -> nerul -> vashi -> belapur -> kharghar -> panvel.

The stretch between Mankhurd and Sewri is one of the filthiest in India, if not in the world. Dotted with slums and needless to say, notorious for several crimes .. and generally speaking , most of the travelling public in this stretch belong to the lower economic strata .
I have seen some locals while peeking out of the window while traveling to Dadar on 10104 Mandovi Express, and the locals were broken, had many dents, rusty on the top, it's the newer Bombairders ones but yeah Harbor Line is a dumpyard
Time has changed. In the last in 1920s and 30s harbour line was everything because it connects with port to every other part of india and even express trains used to run on it. But now harbour line is just old reliable.

Same we see in Indian railways. The condition of railways/trains and stations are far better in Northern,North central division, western,Central division. But if you see in Sounth central zone , the conditions of railways is not good. I have travelled in thses zones many times and I can tell the difference. Also , Northern India has good railway network as compared to other regions .(maybe due to plains, influence of british etc)

Harbour Line runs along Mumbai's dumping yards, and is itself a big dumping yard , as All old and retired trains from WR and CR are dumped on Harbour line. This practice is in vogue since the last 2 decades.

Can't blame railway... Virar is one extreme corner and Panvel is another extreme corner. Both so far away from the heart of the city and also far away from each other too. So its only natural the line between both will be having very sparse trains running and I feel it won't change anytime soon and gonna be like this only for atleast one or two decades.
