Al needs to be back in the senate. Or even in the house. He would bring the maga crowd down so low and so fast they wouldn't know what hit them.
Sad he resigned over bad taste joke from a war zone , yet bimbo boobert can get a mammogram in public and give a handy yet crickets . He needs to come back a comedian willing to go into a war zone should be afforded a bad taste joke that wasn't actual touching or issue simply yes was bad taste bad choice but was trying to entertain the troops be the clown to bring silly to all to serious situation.

Also - it was sort of a dirty trick by Roger Stone. He literally weaponized the social justice movement to destroy a guy that he thought was effective and his enemy, and he knew they would take the bait. You can fight for things you believe in, but a little restraint is called for.
I don't agree, but you certainly have the right to your opinion. Al is all class, good taste - and funny besides. YES, in Congress, one needs to have certain gallows humor, but I believe it is a waste of his talents.

The Democrats lead by Kirsten Gillibrand never gave him a chance to prove his innocence, she'll never be voted for in our family. We thought Al being Al was just playing around like he used to do when he was younger. Also in the picture that was used to defame Al the girl was never even touched his hands looked to be two feet away as she sat with her winter coat on. That's just the type of silly humor people used to do when we were young, I even had it played on me and I just ignored it, I knew the guy meant no harm. I can't imagine someone getting in trouble for that. Al was and is a much needed presence in our government now more than ever.
Don't you think it's amazing how QUIET republicans have been about Lauren Boebert's public behavior? Madison Cawthorn was ousted. Boebert is being protected. But, of course, Kevin can't afford to have her ousted. He needs her vote. Colorado, vote for Adam Frisch! Get rid of that embarrassing, sorry excuse for a representative in 2024.
And of course, the salacious and scandalous behavior of Matt Goetz, George Santos (if that's his real name) and everyone's favorite, Marg Traitor Greene. Were I a GOP Representative or senator, I'd have been kicked out, just like Liz Cheney.

Please remember why the writers are on strike. The corporations are multi multi-billionaires. Yet without writers there wouldn't be movies, late night talk shows, commercials, and a lot more. They get paid pittance. The profits are only seen by a few...who by the way are ultra million/billionaires. Stand with the unions.

Comedy is a powerful weapon. Good political comedians can actually change the trajectory of an election. Think of Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin was considered a threat until Tina Fey portrayed her on SNL. After that, Palin was kneecapped. I think it was part of the reason McCain lost. Consider today, thought. The writers and actors strike is stopping the laughs. We need to be up and running again. Comedy is our most powerful weapon.

I am reminded how Benjamin Franklin defused tensions among the Founding Fathers so they could then get something done. Our Congress needs to get off the poles and get something done for the common citizen.

I am glad this Steele podcast episode came up in my feed with Al Franken. Out of all of the high-profile white men within the recent last few years who got wronged. I honestly believe and stand for the fact Franken truly truly IMHO got a raw azz unfair deal. I am always glad to hear his take and perspective on current things going on especially the writer's strike. Goodness someone as a moderate progressive like him is truly missed in politricks!!

First, we've got to pay more attention, so we know WHICH politicians to change. Just voting everyone out has its own problems: inexperienced politicians, and NO INCENTIVE for them to do a good job if they know they'll be out at the next election. There are no easy fixes - if not enough people pay attention to what their representatives are actually doing, just electing someone new won't guarantee good government.

None. Not even one. We need to bring back the tax rates from the 1960's. I think companies should put their profits back into the company, mainly worker pay and benefits. Definitely not into upper management and stockholders. And no more stock buybacks!!!

There are a number of great, young Democrats/Progressives like Jamie Raskin, Katie Porter, AOC, etc who would be great presidents. Yes, President Biden is older than we might like, BUT he CARES. About ALL of us, about the next generations, and he is getting so much done despite the constant republican opposition to EVERYTHING he wants to do. This ability comes from his wisdom, experience, and abundance of compassion.

We have moved to Oregon and bought a house that our daughter and son-in-law are helping pay for and we all live together with the grandkids, so we are live-in childcare so they younger generation can work. We lived in Oklahoma, where my hubby is from, for 40 years while he worked at AT&T craft and we had good benefits. I have worked when we needed it, but at kind of fun places without heavy labor, a Titanic Exhibit, Theater, Zoo. There was a lot heavier stuff at Toys R Us and for a few months at Walmart. I now have 2 hip replacements and he has heart difficulties.

It’s fine to laugh when you’re an elite, and will always financially be okay, it’s another when the working class, hits a recession, or near recession, the 97-99% will suffer. This shouldn’t be about cultural and social issues. It’s about affording excessive electric and gas bills for the winter, enough food to eat and affordable property to rent, buy or live in.

The problem is that prices went way up and didn't come back down. Especially if you're retired and on a fixed income, it sucks up the money you have to live on. Even though I know it's not Biden's fault a lot of people will blame him no matter what.

Big question: what is art? Whether they can pay is a financial decision, the quality of the finished products is in question: the art is for humans, who want it done by humans. We can't just keep grabbing each new shiny thing. That's what got us into our current troubles in many ways.
