Gaming on Starlink - 2024 Review and Test

  • When #SpaceX #Starlink internet was unleashed on the world it opened unlimited possibilities to those in rural or remote areas of the world to high-speed, low-latency service. Of course, one of the most asked questions in Google searches was "gaming on Starlink" and "playing video games on Starlink."
    All gameplay shown in this video was on Starlink service.
    I ran multiple tests on differing equipment to put it to the test and to see how it compares to more traditional service. #calloduty #warzone

      @@tyovo1540 I live in the absolute middle of nowhere where, corn fields, cow farms and the smell of chicken shit all around me. My ONLY ISP was windstream shitty DSL. 3mbps download and less than half a megabit upload. Absolute Stone Age Internet that would shit the bed if more than 3 people were on it. Now with starlink I average 160-300 mbps download, 25-30 mbps upload and a CONSTANT 20-25 ping. It’s an absolute dream come true and I’m sure you will see the same speeds as long as it’s available for you. I couldn’t recommend it more than anything else for someone in a similar position.

      @@tyovo1540 keep in mind I have at least 8-10 devices constantly on the internet and it doesn’t budge. In shitty weather you will still average 60-75 Mbps download and a constant low ping. It’s just so worth it across the board. Not blowing smoke up your ass just being brutally honest.

    I've been playing on starlink for 1 year now and haven't had any issues, I have the standard package and I'm really impressed with it but I've heard 5G is a bit better , I haven't tried it yet cause they don't have it in my location yet but willing to try, for the reason is that in bad weather starlink seems to lag and drop not much and not long, I've had maybe 2 bad experience with starlink in 1 yr . I got about 18 devices on it , firestick's 3 , wireless cameras 4, pc 1 , Playstation 1 , mobile cell 4 , wifi extender 1, and probably 2 iPads , no problem 👍

    • @gallaieousyehudai12
      @gallaieousyehudai12 22 дня назад +1

      5g is not better, as a verizon customer, it sucks. 4g lite has faster speeds on mobile.
      Though also both att and Verizon has crappy service all around.
      I'm a truck driver, and have had issues with both companies and they don't care. I came in searching to swap and I heard about starlink from the x22 report as an advertisement and it peaked my interest.
      Edit: so I'm not interested in starlink anymore but I was informed about fiber internet from CEMC around my area, I've scheduled the install since talking with an individual that knows a lot more about these things, who does not work for CEMC but a tech expert and his father a hardware expert. They didn't just refer me to just CEMC, but I discerned the matter and found 80 bucks a month for a whole gig of internet would suit my competitive gaming nature suitable. I can get an up to date PC after doing some testing. Internet has always been an issue that forced me to play solo. Games and updates getting bigger these days, I'll definitely need good internet.
      Try updating or downloading a game with 5mbs download speeds, vs what will be either 600 mgbs download wireless or with ethernet cord 900mgbs to a whole gig download.

    Right now im evaluating Starlink, Tmobile 5g and ATT 5g at my location. For gaming I would consistently rate Starlink first followed by TMobile and ATT bringing up the rear. The all have great a minimum of 100mbps down and 10mbps up so more than suitable for streaming and surfing the web... but starlink has consistently better pings by a large margin. Both in speed tests and real world gaming. I would say they are all 'playable' for gaming but we always use starlink for gaming.

Since I use it for work I tend to keep 2 internet connections active. right now thats Starlink and TMobile. The problem I deal with with Spectrum (as the 8th technician just left my house over the past 3 months), is that Spectrum runs so good during the mornings and around lunch. When I get off work around 5:00, it becomes an unplayable packet burst mess. Latency under load (download and upload) is complete TRASH.

    • @digitalalchemy6414
      @digitalalchemy6414 4 месяца назад +2

      spectrum has a bad habit of overselling their available bandwidth. When I had them I found that every time they ran ads offering 'yet better speeds' their overall speeds would get slower due to the number of people on a single node. So at peak use times you are going to have crappy internet... and if you complain they will tell you its because of the number of people active... like its the users fault... no its theirs for overselling and/or under supporting their network.

    Starlink will never compete with that at the price they are selling it for in my country. Maybe if they dropped the price from €50/month to €15/month. But even then the price/gb keeps dropping for mobile nerwork and our copper cable network just gives beter speeds and lower latency for cheaper then starlink. The G nework has a coverage of 99% here. So maybe he can get some money now if he drops the price a lot over here. But in the future competing against fiber (there is finaly a fiber revolution going on over here) and G network at a 99% covarage is going to be hard.
