While my last video about starlink was a great introduction to using Starlink Internet for Vanlife Gaming, I ended up leaving out a lot of great info because I didn't want to make the video too long. So I decided to make a new video to address some things you should know about starlink before incorporating it into you Vanlife/Offgrid Gaming setup! - TTTHEFINEPRINTTT
In this video I talk about Starlinks power consumption, mounting options, and even test out the Ethernet adaptor to see if it's worth the investment.

Always do a reboot from within the Starlink App on the wifi and the router once a day. That will dramatically help with speeds... Also put the dish into stow mode and then hit un stow once a day and that will also force to dish to find a more preferred satellite which helps the speeds big time. I am in a waitlist area with the RV version and my speeds are always up near 70-100Mb download. Get 2-3 mesh units as well.... Huge difference !! AWESOME!!!

Starlink 2.0 will make the biggest difference, sadly we will have to wait for Starship to fly before these are in orbit as 2.0 is to wide for Falcon 9 fairing (current launch vehicle)
The plan is to hit 50% of the Starlinks late 2024, so there is a ton more to be launches and will help with spikes.
Currently there is around 2500 active sats with 400 000 subscribers around the world.

I've been full time in an RV for a year and have been considering moving to starlink for a while but have some hesitations. Typically I am in cities for about a month or so and then out at national parks/off grid for a couple months then back to a city for a while. I was wondering how your experience has been anytime you are nearby cities? I have heard a lot of bad things about portability mode not performing well or having no connection when near cities because of lack of availability

Thanks for the info! I'm surprised with the wattage draw on Starlink considering what it's doing. That's great. My Ultrawide 34" monitor only draws 24w and my gaming pc will draw up to 350w while gaming. My 2600w/1075Wh 'grid down' solar power system can manage that easily. I get frequent power outages where I live, sometimes lasting for over 24 hours, and I want to continue to work and game while keeping the essentials up and running.

I'm really spoiled by city life and having like, 2 Gbps fiber optic internet but... god damn 100 Mbps in the middle of nowhere is crazy good for the location. I genuinely would NOT mind those speeds at all if they were the trade-off for living in such beautiful, scenic locations on the daily.

Apple goes proprietary for profit. Some companies use their own design to enforce reliability. Starlink products are quality products. If someone places some cheaply made part in the mix, Starlink would be blamed for the network issues. Keep it simple. Keep it Starlink. Interesting video watching you be you. Good job.

i'd say to the flagpole but also have a base you can put it on if you need to move it farther away because of obstructions.

Wanted to ask what your stream settings are? Was watching some of your stream clips and your stream looks awesome! For some reason even being wired up I get almost 5000-10000 dropped frames on just 720p30fps and it only being a 2-3 hour stream

Nice video, the ocasional ping spikes wouldn't be much of a problem I would feel, but I noticed some packet loss here and there and that is the thing I am afraid off, I would like to know how is streaming and gaming online off of Starlink

if the wifi is slower, your PC adapter is crap. But what you should be thinking about more is that if you turn the wifi function off on the router and just use it with ethernet, you could save power and NOT advertise your vans not just a van in urban environments. Those two points I would think matter more as your phone can just run off Cel most of the time.
You could also make your wifi invisible in the router settings. Your devices that are already connected will still find it but everyone else but wifi snoops will not see it. enjoy your content.

Starlink will pull more power in winter when it turns on the heater to melt snow and ice. I
Might be something to consider when running it innthe winter.

The only downsides about starlink I've found is that there have been so many more people on the network that ALOT of people who's starlink modems connect to ground stations in super congested areas have very slow speeds.
That and the customer service has been struggling to keep up with all of the increase of new subscribers.

amazin information for gamers, ovbiusly the "PING" es the most importan thing for a "real gamer" but a ping of 60 - 80 is not bad,for a regular player, and mostly of the games, the combination of techology of this divice,is total, you can do any internet stuff anywere, and doing pretty well, that's it,you no need more,is like you say,is going to be better,i also do videogame gameplays, you and your team, are invited to see it! adios.

Thinking about going with starlink for my van too. I like the idea of having it on a flag pole to extend it but worry that it would catch too much wind on the highway to keep it mounted full time. Any thoughts?
