Watch this before buying an aldi kamado
ruclips.net/video/jjBsfkSfvlc/видео.html
I bought one last year and love it. Using it every day during our current lockdown.
Me too thanks for stopping buy
Thanks for a great review Tom, very insightful. Cheers
Cheers thanks for stopping by
Good review! Very helpful to understand the Aldi Kamado. Please add more video shots of the whole kamado and video clips when you’re cooking with it and then enjoying the food!
Lots more coming my friend
Just received my Kamado and can’t wait to give it a try! Just waiting on some decent charcoal to be delivered. Thanks for the video, look forward to watching more for some ideas!! Would love to see some slow cooks of beef ribs or pork ribs
Slow cooks are in pipeline dude 👍👍
Cheers for the video. Looking to buy one , just need to persuade the missus in this time of lockdown !
Out of stock at the moment but keep checking online they will be back
Excellent review, glad you made this as I’ve been trying to find out more before buying one Sunday. Thanks
Thanks Dana I've got a few videos already out for AK be sure to check them out so you can see what it's capable of. What equipment do you currently have?
Thanks Tom, I’ve checked out your other vids as well and subbed, that pulled duck looked delicious how long did the cook take?
I’m a novice with Kamado unfortunately, been looking at BGE for a while but can’t pull the trigger at that price so I’d like to start with the Aldi. Hopefully your vids will guide me through it. How accurate is the temperature gauge would you say?
Hi the duck was Amazing try not to go by times invest in a dual probe thermometer one to go in your meat and the other clips into the grill grates to check your cooking temps there are a couple of reviews on here already. I'm currently trying to get some discount codes if I do they will be in ALDI KAMADO EXTRAS || WHAT ELSE DO I NEED. Coming soon.
bbq life uk, looking forward to that vid. My mate in the States Grills daily and he recommended a wireless thermometer, a pair of heat proof gloves and a kick ash basket as essentials. Would you recommend one which fits the the Aldi one please, he did also say after a while to try and get a half moon as well.
I've not got the ask basket so I can't comment for the half moon check out bit.ly/2VFWGOysteelsmokin and grab a set of steels
£330 delivered is a bargain, just ordered one. Great description.
Enjoy mate
Hi Tom, I recently got the AK and really pleased with it but I’ve noticed after a few burns, the lid has slightly become ‘skew with’ from the bottom. The back is fine as is the right hand side but the left side of the lid has come inwards by about 1/2 inch and the front protrudes by about the same amount. I’ve messed with the nuts on the spring hinges, both top and bottom, but can’t seem to align it 100%. It doesn’t appear to be making any difference to my cooks, should I be concerned? Great vids by the way. Really useful. Thanks.
Thanks you.
Strange I don't Know about it mate i would email
www.lahacienda.co.uk/ the manufacturer and ask them for advice.
Great video! I'm going to give a charcoal barbaque a go for the first time, I'm in th UK any ideas on a decent cost effective barbaque just incase I don't enjoy it x
Have a look about for a weber kettle iys a great all rounder
New Subscriber.
Brilliant video. Bought one of these today based on this and will be ordering some of the accessories; once I’ve worked out how to use it. Keep up the good work
What charcoal do you use for a long burn?
Thanks for the sub!!
I have a ALDI KAMADO EXTRAS || WHAT ELSE DO I NEED. Video coming soon so that will help. Charcoal is hard to find at the moment. I normally use everburning charcoal but you can't find it anywhere at the moment. I don't change my coal for longer cooks I just restrict the airflow.
bbq life uk can’t wait to see that. I’m a sucker for a gadget lol.
i have had one for 3 years now, just pulled it out this week, did a high temp cleaning burn and it's perfect, a quarter of the price of other named ceramic egg type bbq's , the glaze on the outside has crazed but that is all, the steel parts are still like new (and it was stored outside in Scotland !!!, the cast top vent has rusted and the paint peeled but hey.....who cares, and it is easily sprayed if i could be bothered, EXCELLENT BBQ :)
Lasting will in those conditions. What's on tbe menu?
@@BBQLIFE did a steak yesterday just to use the heat from the burn out, only really use it for grilling as i have another two smokers for anything low and slow, need to get some briquettes and see how long i can hold certain temps in it ? i have no doubt it will be very good though :)
Briquettes tend to ask up too much for use in a kamado ots better yo stick to lumpwood and just minimise airflow
Can anyone recommend a fire bowl basket for this? Maybe the kick ash medium?
good review- one day i just may pull the trigger and get one lol
They are great. Thanks for stopping bye
Hi Tom, this morning I picked up a Grillchef Mini Kamado Ceramic BBQ from Lidl for £79.99. I'm a furloughed chef who has always wanted to learn about smoking after I first tasted how good it can be at Pitt Cue in London (sadly closed now) and Andy Slow and Slow (at street food events in Manchester). I've watched lots of your videos this morning which have been incredibly helpful - thank you. I've ordered Apple, Oak and Cherry wood chips from Gwernyfed Wood and an Inkbird IBT-2X from Amazon. I just need to find some charcoal now and I'll be all set. I was thinking of getting some cheap charcoal from B&M just to burn off and have a play around with - what do you reckon? Also I wanted to ask how much the deflector plates tend to cost? Thanks, Chris
Cheap charcoal can we a bad thing if there are any accelerates they will taint the ceramic and you can't get that stuff back out. What I'm saying is just be careful. Welcome along for the ride join the Facebook group and show us all your amazing cooks

Good review my friend
Cheers dude you lockdown treating you?
@@BBQLIFE I'm ok my friend I was working then got furloughed for a week then I got a letter from the NHS saying I had to isolate for 12 weeks so off until June so loads of time for BBQ's lol just wish I could get in the van and go off to the mountains with the dogs and a Weber that's all I need. Stay safe and hope to MEAT up some time.
Furloughed too mate. I feel you man mountains sounds great. Just the coast for me would be fantastic. Stay safe buddy
I'm going for the green egg. This thing looks like a mashup with all the bits you have to buy from Facebook dudes
Morning Jonathan.
This is a budget kamado green egg is not, you pay for the bits up front that's the difference. Its not what I would buy but a long as your happy i look forward to you cooks. Join the Facebook group if you haven't already.
What should the temperature difference between the dome and the the probe on the grill grate?
What ever you set it at you adjust the thermometer using the brass nut on the back of it. Personally mine is set to my grill temp
Hi Tom, Great video, I have just purchased this after watching your video and recommendation. What lump wood charcoal would you recommend?
Many thanks
You can't get what I normally used, everburning charcoal they are out of stock everywhere. Look about for restaurant grade Lumpwood charcoal. Check the reviews and make sure it's good quality and big lumps sorry I can't help more
bbq life uk. Thanks Tom. Look forward to more hints and tips on the Kamado
@@andrewcraig6426 Try CPL coal, they have sites in England and a couple in Wales. They sell restaurant grade lumpwood charcoal. A 12kg bag is about 18 quid.
Forest Grump Thank you. I will look into that
Hi. Thanks for the review. What’s the difference between the stainless steel / half moon heat deflectors? I’ve ordered mine and hopefully will be here next week. I don’t know if I should buy the deflectors you mentioned? Thank you
What ones did you order?
@bbq life uk Sorry, I haven’t ordered any of the deflectors yet just the Kamado from Aldi. What is the difference between the steel and ceramic ( other than material lol )? Do they do anything different from each other? Also can you post the link to the guy who sells them please
Advantage to steel is you won't break it, no one makes a ceramic half moon to fit the aldi of steel Smokin the way to go here is the link
bit.ly/2VFWGOysteelsmokin
bbq life uk thank you
Thanks for the info...subbed. These are sold out unfortunately but Lidl have one starting on Thursday, its a bit smaller but much cheaper. Have you had any feedback on this one. Its Grillchef but I believe its the same as the Landman on Amazon. Cheers
I have no info on this unfortunately. I know its considerably smaller. If you are on Facebook join the budget kamado owners group and ask about it there. 👍
@@BBQLIFE thanks mate will do
Great video! I just tried to buy one but the Aldi website is already showing them as out of stock. Any idea if they will be restocking? Thanks.
Keeps check they are coming in and out of stock quite a bit. Every other year they have had more stock delivered. Just keep checking. 👍
@@BBQLIFE thanks mate, managed to order one this afternoon. Appreciate your help.
Do any of the slow n sear kits, fit?
Not as far as I'm aware if you get me some pics and dimensions l take a look. Dm me on Facebook or Instagram links are below
How big of a drip tray would you need for one of these ?
I use a old paella pan in mine just go for the biggest you fit In 👍👍
Thanks for all your videos! Does anyone know the size of the spacing of the wheels. I've ordered one and decided to pave a small space for it, but am worried the paving slab I have won't be big enough! Thanks!
I'll measure latter mate
@@BBQLIFE amazing! Thanks in advance!
The wheels are approximately 50cm apart the frame is 53cm approximately
@@BBQLIFE amazing! Thanks. Can't wait until mine arrives. Will binge your videos until then!
Your welcome. If your on Facebook please join the community
Thanks for the videos. Got to Aldi Komado today :) Do you know of any compatible covers?
Should come with one mate
@@BBQLIFE nice one thanks. That’s amazing they bundle a cover in for free. I saw a note on the listing saying they recommend using a cover so assumed you had to buy separately.
Nice video
Thanks for stopping by
Hi Tom, do you know if the current model has the built in basket and is so any downsides? Thanks
Do you mean an ash basket? If so monitor doesn't. Some people have had issues reaching higher temperatures with one. I have never used one personally
@@BBQLIFE hi, it’s the fire basket you talk about in the video at 57 seconds in as possibly being built in for the new model?
@@Cammboz ah yes the ceramic fire bowl. It's fully removable still mate
Anyone know if the Ynni divide and conquer 21 or 20 inch will fit the Aldi 2022 version?
20 inch will
Thanks
Your welcome
hi Tom. do you know if there's a rotisserie that works with the AK? like the channel mate.
What year is your model?
@@BBQLIFE last year - we got it in spring 2021
Now here's where it gets tricky. People on Facebook have had success with the kamado bono media rotisserie with the 2021 model, however it don't fit my 2019 model. So it best to double check all measurements and speak yovtbe supplier about returning if it doesn't fit. It seams there are small tolerances that means it fits. Just remember if it's tight and expands it could break the ceramic
thanks Tom
fyi Tom, Kamado kings say the media should fit and gave 30 day returns policy as long as unused a d in original packaging
Do you have to season these before its first use?
Tbe book says yes. I look at it as burning off anything left from manufacturing.
set up as a normal cook with a small amount of charcoal light with eco friendly firelighter. When they go out add in all your metal work close the lid bottom and top (hinged open) vent completely open for 10 mins then close the bottom to 1 finger and just the daisy wheel open for 20 mins then 2 fingers for 20 mins the 3 fingers for 30 then close all the vents after.
This should be sufficient
@@BBQLIFE thanks very much mate...much appreciated
Lots of people say don't use briquettes in kamados but are they not better for snake or minion?
No the dust tends to block the vent hole
@@BBQLIFE So just snake with lump?
Have you got a new mic cos the audio seems loads better 😀
Yes mate I gald someone noticed!!! Thanks for stopping by and giving feedback 👍🍻
@@BBQLIFE no problem, yea its loads better. Keep making videos I enjoy watching them 👍🏽
4 cooks in. Great bbq. Couple of negatives. No where to hang tongues or tools. And no where to hang a digital bluetooth thermometer. The main issue is that the internal stand that holds the grill sheet doesn't fit well and drop into centre easily.
I lay my tongs on tbe shelf same with the thermometer. I would speak to la hacienda to about the grill because that's not right.
Great review Tom..Looking forward to more videos. Have you done a pizza video using this yet? (hint hint)..Take care mate!
Recorded just not out yet 😉
👍👍👍👍
I have the mini Aldi kamado I'm not sure why I when to use deflector do I need one ? What's the benefit
You use it so the heat is not directly under the food for longer or fattier cooks
@@BBQLIFE ah so not necessarily for low and slow cooks ? I can use it with a normal cook for lamb chops ribs wings .. etc
A deflector is need needed for low and slow otherwise the bottom will burn
@@BBQLIFE great bud have order the full works from steel smoking deflector plancha pizza steel n grate for the mini thanks for recommending
Tell him I sent you mate 👍🏻🍻
Tom coal that the old people use for their house fires as they deliver around Northumberland still
IM wondering if that's any good to use on the komado as I'm looking to get one of these now or the Komado ??? Has anyone used normal coal on cooking food does it taste okay ???
This coal not suitable for cook on mate
@@BBQLIFE cheers pal... Just messaged one of the sellers on eBay who have the 24inch Komado as there's ones with certain items attached with ones and others have limited items so hopefully he will accept me offer . Cheers pal
Good luck
Are you saying Commando?
Hahaha yep I was been a good largh on facebook
It's kam-ad-o....... Not commando!
No ones perfect 😂😂😂
Too funny
how much are these?
£350 keep an eye in Aldis website in the spring or better still sign up to the news letter so you don't miss out...... there was a few on Facebook for sale second hand too
What’s the Facebook page for the after sales?
Not sure there is one you can use tbe contact from on tbe la hacienda website, buy all yne aftercare info should be in tbe back of the manual
@@BBQLIFE sorry I meant the one that you mentioned in the video

Is this in UK Aldi?
Yes online only at the moment
Thank you
Sold out at lest at 11am :/ missed again for a year
Scratch that checking at 2pm it is now pre-order so yay!
Was going to say they they will be back soon
@@BBQLIFE Aldi website still showing as sold out, any idea if there will be a restock?
I don't know I'm afraid
@@huwbradley I'm looking just now and is open for pre orders?
these are sold out
They will be back keep checking the website my friend, 👍😁
Back in stock ATM
I'd love to pull the trigger on one, but I think everyone is holding the purse strings a little bit tighter, including me due to what's going on. Shame they didn't delay the launch by a couple of months.
Insta @macieksbbq
So true buddy. Stay safe
once people realise it needs a divide and conquor grilling system like the kamado joe and they see the limitations of a 15" radius which means you cant buy a rotisserie for it from anywhere unless you import one for huge money via china, you are better off buying the Grey Goose which is a 100% copy of the kamado joe classic 18 but a clear 1/3 of the price and comes with a racking system included. get the clear picture from aldi kamado owners here.
