Brilliant demo, clear and easy to understand. Ready to go now!!
glad you enjoyed it!
This is probably the best unboxing and explanation of a Kamado Joe I’ve ever seen. I have a Weber Summit Charcoal Grilling Station I bought from a local Ace Hardware but would like to get a Kamado Joe also.
thanks for the compliment
Thank you so much for the demo I must have watched this 11 months ago when I was deciding on purchasing my Joe 2. I just noticed that your kickash basket. I have been looking all over for the right kickash basket. Thank god, I came across your video again. I almost bought the wrong one. Thanks again for the demo.
Very welcome!
Thank you brother. Made it easy for me and boys to construct this beaut. Much easier than the green egg.
thanks!
Congrats on the Classic 2! The Joe's have came a long way since the originals. Got the hat you sent me, thank you Darrin!
Yeah, I have a Big Joe from 2014 that still works great. .has the divide and conquer system, but not the airlift hinge, the new top vent, but I did get the new AMP fire box as a warranty replacement.. I have been very happy with Kamado Joe since i got it! Glad you got the hat Rus! Happy New year!
Great video thank you! Looking forward to setting mine up and cooking tomorrow
Hope you enjoy
Great video! just got my Kamado classic 2 yesterday, will be cooking a whole turkey on it this afternoon!!

Appreciate the vid. Just picked mine up from Costco for $799. Took six guys to lift into my truck. Looking forward to assembling tomorrow, hopefully I can get it down easy!
Good luck!
How did you get it out of the truck?
That is what I am wondering. Also, I wanted to see how the Joe was lifted to remove the upside down base and then see the Joe lifted and secured onto the base, but that all happened off-camera.
The weight during transport & assembly is my big concern.
@@chancemiller9340 Loading into the truck was the hardest part. At home I have 2x10 loading ramps that I shimmy slid it down onto the drive way. The Egg is surprisingly easy for two guys to lift off of the inverted classic 2 base. You remove a lot of weight from inside the egg first so it is just the exterior ceramic and the hinge. Remember to not lift using the handles, it says this only in small print in the book. Lift from the hinge and bottom air intake.
Very informative vid. Thank you, sir! I just picked mine up, yesterday. Stoked!
Glad you liked the video! follow us on facebook also!
Thank you for this video
You are welcome!
I was ready to buy the BGE, saw the Joe in person today and wow! Quality and build blows the BGE out the water. Saving up a bit longer and hope to be cooking in this covid winter.
Cool! Thanks for watching!
You missed an explanation of a critical piece which is how to lift the Kamado Joe II out of the box. I saw another video in which it was done by lifting by the ash clean out and the hinge but it wasn't the same model so wanted to confirm the same method is used for this model as I just received mine.
yes..
I wrapped a ratchet strap around the body, below the lid edge. Prior to tightening, I placed two ratchet straps (one on each side), making a loop with each strap long enough to place over our neck and shoulders. Essentially, using the two ratchet straps on each side as lifting straps. Then me and another person lifted the body with the straps over our shoulders, using our legs, while my daughter steadied the body from tipping. It worked, but was very heavy.
Do you really need someone to make a video to show you how to get something out of a box?... 🤦♂️
Thanks for a great walk-thru!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Congrats bro! A ceramic grill is one thing I don't have but maybe one day. Happy New Year!
Great unboxing & set up for the KJ. Love both of my KJs!
Thanks! They are great grills!
Fire & Water Cooking Absolutely, just ordered the slow roller for my classic II.
im in love with my kamado joe. I didnt know about this new firebox charcoal holder might work well for more air flow.
the KJ charcoal basket is great! Big improvement for air flow..
The control top will fit both the Classic and the Big Joe, so you can swap it over to whichever Joe you are using at the time.
I have one each of the Joe Jr, Classic II and Big Joe.

Great video, just bought a kj2...video help ed their lack of instructions....i didn't get a hat!!
But since the ace hardware i bought it from discontinued them,I got 400 plus in accessories for 200....i will need that charcoal basket though...lol
awesome! You will love it!
What a great video and excellent review. I am going to order my first Kamado for this summer and this is the one. Terrible seeing as I'm the only non meat eater in the family, but looks great for smoking fish and Pizzas as well as meat.
it is the best! Enjoy!
Thanks. Helped out alot
Glad it helped
Loves that hat. Throws it on the floor. Haha Kidding. Nice video.
Thanks for the comment Rod Smith! your thoughts are appreciated...
Very good video!
Thank you very much!
Really hoping to get the Big Joe 3 by the end of the year hoping for a sale on Black Friday
they are a great grill! good luck!
Bought one today
Thanks for the comment Stef Janssen! your thoughts are appreciated...
Great video. I just ordered the Kamado Joe Classic II for my dad for Father's Day. I hope he likes it! Btw.. is this the 18" or 24" grill?
The Classic is the 18" grill, the Big Joe is the 24"
There sure is a lot of components with that smoker. I thiuthat Basket May work in my Barrel House Cooker. 🤔
I just bought a KJ classic I. Love it so far. Will the new air vent lid fit mine since mine came with the daisy wheel.
yes it will fit.
Fire & Water Cooking
Excellent thanks so much!
Superb video. Thank you. A question if I may. Which add on do you consider a must? Is there an addon that you got that you regret?
the soapstone is great for using as a griddle and searing, the rotisserie is also awesome. The Dojoe is not worth the money...
I'm picking up my KJ classic today. wondering if I can get some of the upgrades that the new one has like the locking mechanism
no... you only need the latch on the 2 and 3 because the air lift hinge.. the Classic does not have that..
Did the hat come with the grill? Also great video I am gonna get one of these grills they look really nice
no, i ordered the hat.. LOL
Great review Did you happen to see the KJ 3
Yes and I would love to have one! They look Awesome!
Great video. What is the diameter of the cooking grate space and will it fit an average rack of ribs?
18 inches, and yes if you put them on right
Do you mind if I ask to tell me the difference if you know between the Vision Grill Vs Kamado Joe Classic II ? Kamdoe Joe bit more pricy with a couple of hundreds $$
The Vision Grill is OK, but does not have the many upgrades that the Kamado Joe offers.. the Airlift hinge, which you will only find on Kamado Joe, is worth over $200 difference itself. Throw in the divide and conquer rack system for multi-level, multi-zone cooking, the ash removal tray, the advanced Kontrol tower top vent, and the exclusive AMP Fire box. the AMP Fire box is designed to never break. the Vision (and most other Kamado's including Big Green Egg) have a single piece firebox that are constantly breaking. Most will replace them under warranty, but they are a pain to keep filing claims. Kamado Joe is always innovating and making their products better. they also designed and sell one of the ONLY rotisserie systems made to use with Kamado grills, the Joetisserie. It is so good that many Big Green Egg and Vision owners buy and use it. To me, Kamado Joe makes a far superior product and accessories and is always innovating and has excellent customer service. It is well worth the extra cost to ME. but I know others will only look at price..
@@FireWaterCooking Awesome! Thanks for the time and advise. I really appreciate it.
so do you have to put the hinge together for the top and attach it to the bottom?
no... did you watch the video?
@@FireWaterCooking missed that part..OK git it.
Mind if I ask why you bought the Classic since you already have a Big Joe?
I like the size of the classic for smaller cooks and shorter cooks and searing. plus the new features of the classic 2 are awesome.. my Big Joe is the older model. Thank for watching!
@@FireWaterCooking I have a Chinese knockoff kamado that I'm having a lot of success with.. I recently got a Joe Jr and I'm really digging the quality and design even tho it's the first gen.
What would you suggest my next step to be? Big Joe ii or wait for the iii Classic or Big Joe to hit stock?
My family size jumped to 5 last year and I'll be having lots of mouths to feed soon. The triple tier of the iii might mean the classic will do the trick but so would a Joe ii...
@@jazic82 Personally the Big Joe II is a great choice.. if you want some more options and toys, the Big Joe 3 is awesome..
@@FireWaterCooking The new heat radiator system looks cool but there is also a big difference in size. The length of the iii's seems to be much longer. Wonder if that matters. Anyways, thanks for the replies!
@@jazic82 Yeah, I think the III has some awesome stuff like the SloRoller and it is deeper for sure, plus it has that new shelf on the bottom and aluminum top shelves.. if money were no object I would get that for sure..
Can you tell me where you got the charcoal basket from?
Yes! Atlanta Grill Company is the largest Kamado Joe Dealer in the country! They have awesome customer service and usally throw in some extras with orders like a free rub and stickers! atlantagrillcompany.com/collections/kamado-joe-accessories/products/kamado-joe-charcoal-basket
@@FireWaterCooking Thanks Much!!!
Do you know if the cast iron grill in the Joe fits the King Size Kamado?
griddle? the griddle and/or the cast iron grates are add on's.. I do not know the brand "King sized Kamado"?
Fire & Water Cooking i know, but i want to buy it. I don’t know if thé Joe is why we call in Europe Kong site Kamado.
Can you please tell me what the Joe’s diameter is? The inside measure .
Hi Sir. Do you remember the weight of the packaging (including the pallet)?
no... i did not weigh it..
286lbs. Just bought one today.
Very good. But I need you to center the firebox.
I cannot be responsible for other peoples OCD.. LOL
Mine came shattered into pieces. I’m worried it will break easily.
I have had 3, none of them broke. I upgrade my original Big Joe to a Classic 2 then upgraded my Classic 2 to a Classic 3 with no issues for over 8 years..
"Set up" video. Completely bypasses assembly of the bottom part.
well, unless you are an idiot, the cart is pretty easy to figure out.. and I did explain it... make sure you hit the thumbs down if you like! LOL
That's a cheap cart
it is what comes with the Kamado Joe Classic 1 and 2..
