  • I've just bought a BBQ from Aldi and it's the new Mini Kamado Grill. In this video we look at unboxing the grill and (following some unforeseen circumstances) do an initial review on it. If you want to know if Aldi BBQ's are any good then stick around.
    I do a comparison against some of this little BBQ's main competitors namely the Big Green Egg Minimax and the Kamado Joe Jr and weigh up the pro's and con's of these vs the Mini Grill from Aldi.

    Hey Jonny! Great vids, I’ve gone deep on the kamado bbq vids, as like yourself, I ordered a kamado from Aldi! I was mega excited until I received an email saying my bbq was broken in transit 😭 might just bite the bullet on a branded one. Looking forward to those low and slow vids! Keep them coming 🍖🍗🍔🥩

      Thanks Kev, really interesting to hear that someone else had the same experience. The bigger versions are apparently coming back into stock soon so if that's the one you're after then maybe worth the wait. If not, I'll get a review on the Big Green Egg soon. Thanks for watching and got a low and slow pork shoulder coming up soon. Cheers Jonny

    Great to see this as I've assembled my Aldi Mini-Kamado but not yet fired it up. Delighted you got another one. (lucky there!). I'm waiting delivery of a separately Amazon ordered 3mm thick steel deflector plate (£26 with free delivery) before using it as I guess it will be more for low+slow or smoking than burgers, sausages etc as I have other BBQs and an oven/hob for those!
    Looking forward to seeing how you get on with yours so I can learn from any mistakes you might make. Good Luck!

      Hi Raymond, good choice on the deflector plate, a very worthy addition in my opinion. Ha ha, I'll definitely try and get some more cooks on this over the coming months so watch this space. Thanks for watching. All the best. Jonny

      Yeah I looked at the deflector plate then had a eurika moment to use a roof tile and just break it to size and that with a tinfoiled cake tin and then the grill makes an amazing job and dosent get the BBQ dirty

    I love the Aldi one especially for low and slow, for a deflector plate I've been using a roof tile cut to size and that makes it work great.

      Hi Liam, that's brilliant, thanks for the tip. I've got a low and slow cook firmly in my sights so pleasing to know it can be done. Thanks for watching. Jonny 👍

    We can’t get ours up to temp to grill

    • @badweatherbbq921
      @badweatherbbq921  Год назад

      Hmmm, that's a shame. The way I do is to open all the vents (leave the top open), light the coals then after about 5 mins bring the lid down (again with the vent open). I then adjust the vents to the required temp. Hope that makes sense. How do you start yours? Let me know, thanks for watching. 👍

    Can you sort your audio fella. Your audio is low and music is proper loud. Nearly blows my tv speakers 🤣 apart from that, not bad vids

      Absolutely, they had two! The larger one sold out really fast but I managed to get the mini version.

    Came across this video and firstly well done. I know many won’t agree (and that’s fine) but this compared to the egg or Komado Joe is miles apart! Personally I own the Komado Joe and IMO this and the Egg warrant their price tags and well worth the investment. I would question how long the Aldi one will last. You were however fair in stating this to a degree, and price is actually impressive for a ceramic grill, but I doubt long slow cooks would be accurate like the Komado Joe for example. Either way, effort on the video and sharing your thoughts/experience - tops marks!

      Hi, thanks for watching and leaving me a comment. I’ve recently had the pleasure of going some low and slow ribs on a Big Green Egg and have to say I was super impressed at how it performed. Came up to temp quickly and was super re-active in terms adjusting the vents (much more than I experience on the kettle bbqs). I definitely understand the appeal of the BGE or KJ. With the BGE it was so easy to jump between low and slow temps then open it up for hot and fast cooking. Thanks again for watching. All the best Jonny 👍👍👍
