I own this very same player. Loaded it with over 40 gigabytes of MP3 music I ripped from CD’s. The unit is very solid built and sounds really good. Would I consider it the best? That I can’t answer as it’s the only modern day digital player I own, besides my iPhone 15. I do like the wireless Bluetooth feature as it works well with all my JBL Bluetooth speakers. The line out also works great on my powered speakers. For the asking price I think this is a win, win.
I recommend in the $200 range, a Hiby m300. It is for pocketable use and some travel. I just got one. I took a full 512 Gb card out of my older SONY MWA 105, and put it in the Hiby and it was ready to play. All I want to do to do is set up favorites and playlists. Actually stunned play started and it has a tiny speaker! The SONY was so poor in battery life, and their software being necessary to sync to make playlists only on PC was frustrating. One also could not edit tags of the files in the device. Bad choice when I have so many files I've been managing carefully in windows. For home full size headphone and connection to component stereo, my last couple of 'higher end' DAPS were with Fiio M11 (46k tracks on 2 512 Gb microSD) due to an accident I just replaced it with a Fiio M15s. In the past I've from 200x, used several other mp3 and other DAP. I am still transferring almost 1 Tb files from PC to into 1Tb micro SD in Fiio M15s..

The manual and documention all refer to the DAC option. The player supports USB DAC IN and OUT. You can connect the player to a PC and use it as a USB DAC. If you search by artist you will see all of the albums but is there a way to see all of the songs by the artist. That is a feature that is vital for me. I love the interface of the Musicolet app for Android. If this player doesn't this feature I'll have to get an Android DAP or use an inexpensive mobile phone. Having said this I like a lot of feature of the Surfans F20 and the build quality.
This device is very well built, it is one of the best devices I own for that quality IMO. In answer to your question, yes if you view by artist then it shows all of the songs by that artist and not what albums the songs come from. Personally I don't like this but everyone has different needs. If you explore the TF card you can see everything by artist then album.

I'm looking to replace a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra. The Surfans F20 will only be used in the car through the car stereo, amp, and speakers. The line out will go to my car stereo. The USB will go to car charger. The Creative has a "Car Mode", where the unit turns on/off with the ignition. Looking at the Surfans F20 manual, I don't see a "car mode". When on USB charging and playback mode, will this unit turn on/off with the car ignition? Also curious, I set the Creative volume to full and adjust with the car stereo. Does the Surfans F20 volume reset to 30% every time it's turned off? Thanks!
Looks like a nice entry level device. I Iike buttons. It uses a Burr Brown? Seriously? For those who don't know, that's a very high end sounding dac chip.
To be honest I don't know as I use Car Play in my car. However, given that this has different USB modes (i.e. one for connecting as a drive to your PC and one for DAC, etc) I suspect if your car radio uses a USB connection and you are on the PC mode then it will be able to access the songs.

Great video. I have this player and love almost everything about it. BUT - and it's a massive but - I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to play the next album when it gets to the end of the one I've been listening to: It just goes back to track one on the same album. I think I've tried every setting. (The "Play through albums On/Off" setting certainly doesn't fix this.) I've read the manual; it didn't help! PLEASE, am I missing something?! My use case is this: I listen to ripped CDs, flac format, via SD card. Long car journeys, and I want to listen to one album after another. Simple, surely? On software V3.0. So, whilst I love it, it's borderline useless. Still a five star player, but useless for me. Can anyone help..? I'm VERY happy to be proved stupid on this issue! Cheers.
@PopCultureGamers It's a fair suggestion, but not really how I think it *should* work. It's a lovely little player, but I never use it now because of its inability to do what I want it to do!
It's not the best but at the price point it is. The other players around the same price have weird firmware/software that can't organize music AT ALL. One of my other players can't recognize more than one folder. The F20 on the other hand can recognize all of the folders. It's drop, organize, and play outclasses all of the other similar priced players. Also, my other player takes sooooo long to load up all of the music files which I have many they are large like 1-2 hours each. It takes like 5 minutes to load up all of my media files!!! Wayyyy too slow. I have probably over 150 gigs of songs and the F20 loads them up very fast! This device has two flaws, I have owned 3 of them so far. #1 is the battery is cheap and prone to bloating, and can get damaged if it is dropped onto a hard surface. The other flaw is if you use this with wet hands, it will get into the scroll wheel and mess it up somewhat. It will start to scroll the opposite direction you want to scroll and then move down, so it's much harder to scroll through the files.

For me that is how I like it as I tend to listen to albums or make playlists.
There are basically two ways to listen to music, either by going into the TF card and selecting the album you want or going into music where it lists all songs alphabetically. Not sure if you can change that order. You can also create playlists but this has to be done on a computer and not something I have tried.

Will this play Itunes downloads that have been purchased and downloaded to a PC hard drive?

Glad you found the video useful. If your car has an AUX port you should be able to output from the headphone jack to your car.

Good so far, not had to charge it too often - somewhere between 6-9 hours
