I just got one of these, and a pair of KZ-ZSN Pro X buds and I love it, but one thing I'm not impressed with is the equalilzer. I've tried each preset and also the custom just now (with your settings, just to try it as I wasn't sure how to set it myself) and I honestly cannot hear any 'improvement' at all - it just sounds exactly the same regardless, except slightly quieter and muffled. It sounds great without the EQ on at all and so that's how I'll use it but still curious of what's going on with that and why bother putting it in the IO if that's all it does, seems bizarre to me!
These HD audio players are fine tuned for the best audio and very often the "self set EQ" doesnt sound as good. If you check out my Astell and Kern ($1100 player new) it also sounds better factory tuned (self EQ off). Its bizzare but in 2024 DAPs often times the "NO SELF EQ" is the way to go. I may make a detailed video on this and diffrent players later. Its a very interesting point.
I agree, this is the downfall of an otherwise good player. The EQ doesn't appear to have any gain built in so it's next to useless. You can put all bands to max and the output is still lower than without the EQ switched on. I doubt a firmware update would change this. 🫤
Could anyone please tell me how to search for a song it appears there's no search function. I only have 700 on it but if it is for instance beginning with W it's a long scroll through alphabetical folders then really annoying if you go back or press something else it goes back to A nearly ready to bin this frustrating item
This is an excellent divice. Well made. But my negative thoughts about it is that it doesn't sound any different than my small Geekiera mp3 player which also has radio built in. I don't feel sound quality any better and that was with some IEM i had. Maybe with some 300 ££ or $$$ it might sound better but not with cheap phones. ..
I have this player but the only problem I'm having is that it's refusing to charge to 100% it will stop at like 98% or something which is really annoying.
Sounds like a battery issue, did you just buy it 100% new or was it a used unit? Did you have it for awhile? If new I would return/exchange it via amazons easy return policy.
@TUXXREVIEWS it's new I got it from Amazon. I've been trying to work out if it's something that I'm doing wrong or something I've done wrong because one of the things I did when I first got it was a system update, so I wondered if that made it not charge properly. But I'm not sure if there's a way of going back to the stock firmware it comes with.
@@MorbidCrow666 It really should go to 100%. At very least when plugged in and fully charged. Very odd issue. I would return exchange but the difference from 100% to 98% isn't much. I would try different things like turning off wifi / blue tooth so if something hardware or software related is draying power.
Have you experienced buzzing coming out from your Sony headphones when playing music through them? Two times I had my money refunded because of the buzzing. And last week I bought another Surfans F28 and it started to buzz once more. A nichtnare and Surfans trying to say maybe o didn't have the headphones plugged in properly
@TUXXREVIEWS I hear you, my friend, but to have it happen in 3 different replacements are just criminal bad batch or not. And when it first happened 4 to 5 weeks ago, Surfans told me that it's a known issue with the F28 model. This nonsense didn't happen with the Surfans F20. To add insult to injury, they even ask if I insert the jack deep enough into the headphone port.
Can i create playlists? I bought an mp3 player but it only had 3 playlists and it couldn't create more than 3. I listen to many types of music so i want to create playlists. Can it do that?
@@TUXXREVIEWS I bought AGPTEK, i am not sure if you heard about this company. But my question is: Can Surfan F28 create many playlists? My main selling point of MP3 players is the sound quality and creating many playlists as i mentioned before i listen to many kinds of music and i like to separate them into playlists rather than putting all in 1 playlists or few playlists

The HiFi walker H2 is "ok" but uses a single DAC ( PCM5102 DAC) compared to the F28s DUAL ES9018K2M * 2 DAC chips by ESS. That makes the F28 better IMO. Both good but F28 really has a solid edge on the H2.
@@TUXXREVIEWS do you know of anyway to sort by track #? It sorts A to Z, but I'd like to listen in order that it appears on the album. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

I tell you what the hard problem with this player is finding the right headphones to go with it. And although there's a school of thought that suggests you should use wired, I think there's a lot to be said for using Bluetooth, especially if you can control the player via the earbuds downloaded app. I do

I have bluetooth head phones and it works very well with no issues.
If you use Bluetooth you don't need it, it's the same from your phone. The amp and dac are in your earphones.

Some audiobooks are recorded with a code to only play on certain apps etc but a normal non restricted audio files should be ok

YES! I love the DSF format and I believe there is a switch under settings for gapless. I may make a video on this later.
