    Great break down video of the Tamiya ‘M’ chassis family 👍 Like yourself and many other posters, I too own an M03…..well actually 2…both excellent deals, one a shelf queen and another which is a roller that I’m hoping to race in the future at my local track….only thing I hate is our club rules don’t allow chassis mods so I’m stuck with one rounded battery just for the M, when none of my other batteries will fit because they are all square….still worth it…but broke my heart to see what that previous owner did to the M chassis you bought….proper ham-fisted approach to dremelling (and I say this as a relative newbie lol)….here in the UK, some of these ‘old school’ untouched (so un modified) ‘M’ chassis stuff e.g. 1-3 still hold their value pretty well. Brilliant vid and I love how you tell a story with the ‘build’ in the background…..excellent technique 👍👏👏👏😎

      Hi. I'm not an RC person but a friend of mine persuaded my to buy his Mini `94 Monte Carlo Pro build shelf queen many years ago. I got all excited about having my first RC car, so I bought a brand new M-03R race chassis kit (blue one) and swapped that out to the mini (still have the original chassis that came with the Mini). That's as far as I ever got, no motor, never run, and back into a box it went and ended up in the attic. Its still there.
      Do these have some collector value ? Any info greatly appreciated.
      Regards.

    Great little video, love the brief 'M' chassis history. I got myself an M-05L a couple of months ago, with a Toyota GR Yaris body, had a few hop-ups on it already but I've got a few more already, with some blue bling on the way. I've never had an M chassis before, but now I really see the appeal of them, the M-05L is fantastic to drive, so much fun, and handles really, really well. Mine cam with the 3Racing speed gear set, but I've taken it out, it sounds horrible and from what I've read does not last long. Sure, it's waaaaay faster than the standard Tamiya gearing, but in my opinion not worht bothering with, but your mileage may vary....

    My first m chassis was the tamiya m02 back in 2002, it had a tech racing belt drive conversion with a 2speed. But the m03/m03r is where I could my true love for this class/size. The m04 was impossible to get to handle correctly..
    I now have the m08, and even though it’s an excellent chassis and easy to get it to handle with just springs and good tires, it’s an awfully ugly chassis 😅
    Can’t wait for the next rear wheel drive m chassis and hopefully it looks cool.. because I have to like the way the chassis looks too, to actually invest money into it.. I know I’m weird

    The M02 (Beetle) was my second ever Tamiya ever and 3rd ever hobby RC ever.. and I still have it! It's an amazing car to drive and I absolutely love the monoshock design. It makes it body roll a lot but I feel that is more realistic for a Beetle. I've also owned 2 M-05s before (Mugen CRX and Mazda MX-5 ND). The Mugen was a gorgeous car but unfortunately it was destroyed by a mean old Slash at my college dorms freshman year :(. I made that one into a BMW Mini Cooper and sold it. The M05 chassis in general though I couldn't seem to fall in love with. I've had the MF01X as well and that is an amazing car (though getting to the servo is annoying). I'm surprised though being the MF"01"X that it wasn't a front motor design and rather a rear motor design like the even number M cars.

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  4 месяца назад

      They are quite different, I think the TT-02 is a general use type of vehicle but anything can be tuned to fit your driving style. The mf-01x can has a type of chassis that lends well to keeping clean as oppose to the TT-02’s tub design which catches a lot of debris. With that being said the mf-01x is a mini chassis and I find it has a harder time soaking up bumps due to the wheel size. However I have videos on my channel of mf-01x rally in both 4wd and rwd, see of you can find them I had great fun with it.
      As far as handling goes, the mf-01x has a very stable rear end and os much more forgiving when using power over techniques to slide the rear end around and steer with the rear wheels, as oppose to the TT-02 with its motor farther forward. For competition I can really say which is better as I have not yet tried to create a competition level TT-02 rally car. I feel that the TT-02 would be much more plush in the rough due to its wheel size, however you can also run larger “standard” wheels on the mf-01x.
      Being that youre specifically saying the beetle, which is the long wheelbase version of the chassis its very stable and forgiving but tends to have understeer unless you use power over technique to steer. At this moment in time I wouldnt be able to decide between the two…
      The tt-02 is much easier to work on and maintain. Check out my mf-01x rally videos, I show how i modifed the chassis to create more suspension travel.
      Also I have multiple TT-02 porsche videos where i show how i modified it to have more suspension travel and get it ready for the rough off road as well. Cheers! Let me know how you get on
