I’m watching this because I’m curious but don’t want to be any sort of doctor like an optometrist. Plus this woman is beautiful.
I’m 12 and I’ve decided I want to be an eye doctor. I don’t know why but I find it so fascinating! I get so excited when I’m getting new glasses 👓 I also think it’s cool how you can see early signs of diabetes just by looking at a person eye.

I'm 2nd year student of optometry in india and I want to do prectice in Canada ,so what steps I'll have to follow?
Isn't there more people you can help in India with their eyesight?
@@raczyk sadly All indias scape from there.
because the country is poor.
Cant pick if I want to be a Optometrist, Dental Hygienist, Registered Nurse, or Nurse Practitioner! Help!
I know this was 2 years ago, but what have you decided haha?
@@kylepaulissen9907 heyyy I’m being a pharmacist now 🤣 are you stuck deciding?
@@zhanying3788 Wow big money! That's crazy how 2 years ago you were deciding one of those jobs and now you're something completely different. I was just interested on becoming an optometrist, that's really the only thing I have set on my mind right now.
I'm going into year 11, hopefully I'll become an optometrist 😭
Your becoming 11 or college
@@nickolas3750nobody spends 11 years in college lol
in 12 but i know i will become an optometrist and i get a head start
omg same!! I'm 12 too. Idk why I want to be an optometrist but its my dream job and sounds so fun
Very informative information :) I am 31 years old and I am thinking about totally changing my career path and going for optometry! But I have some things I’m confused about...I already have a Bachelors and Masters. My Bachelors is in Liberal Arts and Masters is in General education. Both which have NOTHING to do with optometry lol. Would I have to start from scratch completely? Thank you :)
@Matthew Borserini what does that entail from scratch?
@Matthew Borserini Zero education credits would count towards becoming an optometrist?
Taking advice from the comments here might not be the best thing because half the time people don't know what they're talking about lol! I would contact the university you attended and explain your situation and goals to an Academic Advisor, they will be able to steer you in the right direction regarding the next steps you should take. For example, some of your credits might be able to be transferred to reduce the length of your additional studies. Best of luck, you can do it! :)
@@sitdownbehumble8675 thank you and you’re right lol. But I decided not to go for optometry because I’m already 31 and I don’t wanna take any flu shots and that’s required ugh. Plus there’s a pandemic going on so it’s too much. Sucks because I still would wanna be an eye doctor.
@Matthew Borserini yes. It’s my body and I am not a fan of certain vaccinations.
What about aus? U need to get a ranking of 99%
how many years did u study to become an optometrist?
4 years of college and 4 years of optometry school. 1 optional year of residency.
@@aya-_-3045 I’d say more residency. Especially if you are going into a subspecialty or owning your own practice.
How old are you?
No just passing through
😀
You don’t have to have a 4 year degree in order to get into optometry school.
True. Many students have one and it increases your chances of acceptance
Hello maam can optometrist do surgeries not in bachelor but in master becoz most of the test doing by optometrist are now machine based that anyone can do opticians or nurse can also do this then what's make the optometrists different from opticians?
Ophthalmologist does the surgeries
optometrist can do some surgeries too but they need further training for them
Gorgeous
Can i write doctor after completion of my b. optometry
No no no no no no no no
only if u do doctor of optometry u can write the doctor title
Some states allow optometrists to perform some surgery procedures. That can be a great career choice
I would never be able to read an eye chart in her office, cause I couldn't keep my eyes off of her!
It isn't worth the blood, sweat and tears. Add up how much time, money
and national boards examinations take from you.. Self employed ODs have
no free benefits, paid vacations, sick days, retirements , matching
401Ks. You will be treated like a trade school technician by
ophthalmologists after 8 years of college. I graduated optometry school
in 1981.Things were pretty good back then. Obama-care doesn't pay ODs.
Now optometry doesn't make sense. Just add up what it costs in years of
school, tuition student loans, Also patients are more disrespectful and
expect $49 eye exams with free follow up appointments. Nurse
practitioners go to school fewer years, are allowed to do more
procedures. You have been warned
What if you’re not self employed and work at a hospital?
@@angelicahong5253 Good luck finding such a position. Maybe 1 in 100 ODs can land that position. Best of luck to you, whatever you decide to do.
@@paulbrungardt9823 Thank you. I'm going to try my best. You're saying that it is better financially, socially, mentally, than being self-employed, correct?
@@angelicahong5253 Perhaps Kaiser Permanente is your best bet. Remember that they provide: health, dental, life insurance, paid vacation/sick days. Self employed ODs get only what they pay for, out of pocket. Private practice ODs still have to pay staff, rent, insurance while you go on vacation...it doesn't add up.
If things are that bad in the US, consider immigrating to Canada and/or studying at the University of Waterloo ON and practicing as an optometrist here. Canada welcomes foreigners with open arms and we have many services just for them. Here's a link: uwaterloo.ca/future-students/international-students/united-states. Most importantly, our free healthcare helps things run smoothly and many people have optometry services covered by OHIP (our health care). So you won't have to deal with the "insurance" hassle as much here because many things are automatically covered.
I’m 28 and barely taking interest in this 🥹
Can I offer ophthalmology whist I'm already in optometry field in the university
Wow that's great I'm mina I would love to have a conversation with you about becoming one
