  • What if you could control your dreams? In Episode 5 of The Concepts, we look at iWinks' Aurora headband, which can enhance lucid dreaming (dream awareness) by playing a pattern of lights and sounds during REM sleep. This wearable technology may allow us to better understand our sleep patterns and dreams, while providing whimsical, personal dream experiences.

Lucid dreaming is awesome! So far, the best method I've found to teaching people how to lucid dream is through dream journals, but this will probably work better.

I don't know about this one. I think it would probably take a lot more than a "wearable" to have total control over lucid dreaming.
Still rooting for Team Nixie and their wrist-worn quad. They're presenting it as basically a wrist-worn flying "Go Pro," but it has so much more potential. The uses I've come up with are continuing to climb. It has the ability to be a tool of safety, situational awareness, and numerous other things.
But keep at it iWinks. I live in San Diego and work as an aerospace engineer, and if you guys nail lucid dreaming, I would be able to use my lucid dreams as an R and D realm for my work. That would be amazing.

"SAO", if you know what I'm referring to, feel free to comment. I don't even need to explain where I'm going with this.

Lucid dreaming is easy, just need to practice but be careful with it incase you do it in a bad dream. This is why I'm not sure about this type of device.
Our thoughts and dreams are the only things left that we have to ourselves.
Try Astral projection! Now that's an experience! I've only ever don't it a few times not sure about when I was a kid though.

iwinks would do themselves a favour if their communication was better. Don't bother emailing them as they won't respond. I pre-ordered a unit on the understanding it would be delivered in June but they now say on their Kickstarter updates it wont starting shipping before October. Their website hasn't been changed and it still says June shipping.
OK, they're a small band of workers but communication with customers is really important, particularly as so many crowd funding projects are scams. So, come on guys, wise up to better comms....

I don't think lucid dreaming should be enhanced to this level(as a near constant lucid dreamer). I find that my lucid dreaming often leaves me overtired and un-refreshed. (but it is still fun to change apocalyptic dreams to dream games)

mmmm your not totally resting your brain if your still concious while your body is asleep, your mind needs still for your brain to recuperate, I'm not too sure what the long term effects could be, I've heard lucid dreaming can cause general tiredness and unrest and should not be practices on a regular basis. I've had lucid dreams a few times but i like my dreams to guide me naturally, dreams happen for a reason to confront our problems and emotions, do we have to f*** with everything, haven't we got enough x box's and play stations!!! this is not rest people it just more stimulation that we probably don't need.

regardless of being "aware" or "conscious" in the dream world, you're still in REM. You could be in a horrifying zombie apocalypse where you're running and screaming and shooting endless waves of zombies...and wake up alert, refreshed, and excited about what just happened.
Lucid dreams aren't just for 'play'. You CAN use it as a new toy, like a virtual reality system thats far more advanced than any tech we have today... And some people will... But lucid dreaming can be much deeper than that. I wake up so so so so much more refreshed after having had a lucid dream.
Have you ever had a dream that you thought meant something?
Have you ever had a dream that felt as REAL as waking life?
Habe you ever had a dream that you swear was trying to tell you something or convey a message from you subconscious ?
      YES you have.
Lucid dreaming Is a stimulation everyone would only benefit from.

  • @Geist452

too much lucid dreaming can seriously hamper the creativity, challenge and immersion of your dreams... very little can still be too much and subconsciously hang around too long.. once you know how to trigger it... you will, if pressed. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you need some level of awareness of whats happening around you at all times; i would consider that a sacrifice. It's the difference between day dreaming and taking acid... some of the most brilliant feelings and images come from outside your consciousnesses.

I like the idea but you need to talk to some one who works in sleep. The eeg your looking for is not frontal but occipital part of your brain. That is the back of you head. The tech he is talking about is called actigraph and you can not tell what stage of sleep your going threw with the eeg electrodes attached to the front of your head.

I literally spend the whole day dealing with technology. Don't you think this is unecessary? Im a science believer but this is way too much (unless if there were something to record my dreams while sleeping and watch them the next day that would be better).

The CIA has been using this technology for years. Dream manipulation programs are being used on unsuspecting American citizens. It is being used to develop and test methods of behavioral modification. Look up a TLC documentary about technological brain interfacing from 1995 called "the lucifer helmet" where a government scientist demonstrates his ability to project sensations and visions directly into his subjects brains using electromagnetic signals similar to those our brain creates naturally. The test subjects even describe hearing voices, seeing the "outlines of Human beings" and having other extreamly profound sensations.

This technology, if it does come to market, it will be as effective as psychotropic drugs. Worth billions with many side effects. Who do they blame the GUNS not the individual or drugs being taken? Sleep is for sleeping not for manipulating a person's dream. People in the United States of America need more time with their family, and more sleep.
