    I enjoyed bf3 more than 4, it just felt more rounded off. Less guns, but they had personality. Weapons with larger calibers felt more punchy compared to lower caliber counterparts so I felt like there was personal choice being regarded. BF4 just had too many guns, and often I felt that it didn't matter what I picked, as most things felt exactly the same. I played support alot, and in bf3 I could tell you the pros and cons of belt fed lmgs, chinese lmgs, russian lmgs, and the mag loaders each had. I could tell you good choices depending on map and playstyle, whereas in bf4, you could pick anything really.

    There's a few things missed about the guns.
    1. TTK. The time to kill was perfect in BF3. In BF4 they made it slower. The result was often times leaving enemies with 1 health or being unable to even deal with more than one opponent. It felt sloppy and bad.
    2. Hip fire. Hip fire was MUCH more viable in BF3 than BF4.
    3. It just feels..off. I don't know how to describe this one but often times I would feel like I had perfect aim and some how those bullets just missed. The gun fights felt awful compared to BF3.
    Though I will say the campaign is AWFUL in both games. Just generic spunkgargleweewee nonsense. No freedom to the player, just an interactive movie, barely better than a quicktime event.

    • @AaronSampsonMedia
      @AaronSampsonMedia 3 года назад +2

      These are spot on. Man, it's so hard sometimes to explain exactly what feels off with BF4's gunplay, it just is.

    • @emp1985
      @emp1985 3 года назад

      How can I like a comment more than once?? This. TTK and weapon consistency. That alone forced me to play almost exclusively Hardcore in BF4, whereas I could play in Normal in BF3 with no complaints. That was by far the main issue with BF4. Other than that, it's a toss of a coin. I had lots of fun with both. I so hope they bring back that damage model in BF2042.

      And what if the ttk was A LIIIIIIITTLE BIT slower in bf4? Is that even a bad thing? At least you didn't get instantly melted like in bf3 by those m16a3 abusers, or the aa12 with explosive ammo, god I still remember that thing. The fact that the hipfire was better in bf3 made the game even cheesier, people just spraying like rambo with any gun, ars, pistols, it doesn't matter which weapon it is. Your points aren't really valid, you are doing the opposite of what you had in mind. Jesus christ the bf3 fanboys man... Bf3 did some things better than bf4 and bf4 did some things better than bf3. I'm probably one of the very few people who loved the suppression in BF3. It could definitely get under your skin but if you rolled with your squad and laid down suppressive fire on an enemy group, it felt more useful. Whereas, watching a sniper pull off a head shot whilst getting shot and having that damage they take NOT affect their aim is far more frustrating to me.

    Battlefield 3 was and still is lightning in a bottle. It was my first entry into the franchise (ironically by accident from the Medal of Honor Reboot) But just on that alone it holds a special place in my gaming nostalgia. And I'm guessing more and more than I'm in the minority when it comes to the suppression system from BF3, which I was actually pretty well accustomed to. To me, it added to the immersion of being in a firefight. That snap of a round flying past and blurring and affecting my accuracy gave me that since of 'Shit, cover!' and relocate to a better position. But again, that was just me. It also seemed like the content was more worth while with Battlefield 3, even with the Premium Pass system. Ironically, it's seemed as if ever since the Live Service model started getting used with Battlefield, the content just hasn't felt the same. cosmetics, minimal map drops. maybe a new weapon here and there. But with Battlefield 3's Premium...all the new and extra content just felt worth the additional cost. Sadly, it's felt like Battlefield has been on a slow downward spiral since Battlefield 4.
    Speaking honestly. If we could get a Battlefield 3 Remastered, I'd take that over what we're seeing with 2042 any day.

    I've been playing since 1942 and can honestly say I've had a ton of fun with each BF. Of course some more than others but they each had their own charm. It's a game that makes you feel like you're part of something bigger while most FPS just feel like everyone is Rambo.

    Battlefield 3 was the game that really made me jump fully onto the Battlefield train. Right from first playing and taking part in the naval invasion where everyone jumps in amtracs and helos, to jumping off damavand peak with your entire team for the first time, or running down the halls of metro just to realize too late that you and your squad just ran right into a support players trap. One of my fondest gaming memories is witnessing an intense air to air battle on Caspian border as I was perched up on the tower with my sniper rifle while our tanks were fighting just below me. One of those "only in Battlefield" moments

  • @SomeUnremarkableGuy

    Bad Company 2 was peak to me. I like how it was balanced, I like even more vehicle destruction on BC2 than on BF3, bullet drop, weapon recoil.
    BF3 felt so much like CoD.
    I remember playing for a short of period of time I become really good at BF3, but on BC2 it required some time. And God how much I hated suppression effect and the sung glare.

    • @Person-el3sf
      @Person-el3sf 3 года назад +1

      I'd say the exact opposite, BC2 felt a lot more like CoD with useful weapons like the M60 being blatantly nerfed into literal uselessness with every stat being lower than the preferred PKM which was unlocked earlier. Overall BF2 just felt like 3 lane maps which were extremely long, good for rush but bad for conquest. The destruction was alright but making every building destructible lead to every building looking almost the exact same. The recoil was almost non existent and the bullet drop was predictable, easily one of the most "CoD-Like" Battlefield games out there

    Suppression was such a huge importance to the game. Most players did not understand it. Being suppressed made your weapon kick more. The gun playing the game was top notch 10 out of 10. The guns just weren't bullet hoses.

    Several months back I played BF3 Venice Unleashed which improved tickrate on servers and many other issues and it felt pretty smooth (compared to original BF3), but when I switched to BF4 it was night and day difference, like BF3 was just some early alpha version of BF4, but BF3 has some special raw feeling to it.
    By the way Battlefield Heroes was just perfect and so ahead of its time and even tho you cant compare it much with BF3 or BF4, in its own way it might have been even better than both of them.

    After all these years and with how games are made now without players in mind, I am just happy that I got to have these memories from BF3. Emotional moments during my teens where a night up at 2am on Damavand was where I wanted to be.
    I understand why we want what we had, but a masterpiece like BF3 was a once in a lifetime achievement. Where games could be made by gamers for gamers and the broad culture was about unity. Lying to yourself and expecting any game these days to reach that peak is setting yourself up for disappointment.

    BF1 was a cinematic masterpiece that really just put you in the shoes of a terrified conscript in the First World War. A lot of design decisions I wasn’t a fan of, but I’ll be damned if it’s not fun to revisit sometimes just for the sheerly oppressive atmosphere of war.
