Hey, these items won't stop the car from going in reverse but it can cause the dragging sound. The brakes would cause that sound but if the brakes are worn down really bad then the metal on the brakes are actually scratching/ damaging the rotors so from the sound of it, you need to get new brakes and rotors on all four tires. The caliber should be ok. If you can hear if the dragging is coming from the back or front that would really help as that's the ones that's probably causing the issue but I would change all four just to be on the safe side and before something else gets damaged. Hope this helps bro.

@@martinsmoto my current issue kinda sounds like all the other comments in here. Not being able to go faster than 20 miles a hour. It ran fine up till about a week ago. The transmission was replaced about 8 months ago with 1 that only had about 100k miles on it, so the fluid and filter was changed then. Fluid is still kinda pink, no burnt smell. I replaced the cam sensor, and the transmission speed sensor, and no codes on the motor or transmission side. So changing the tcm wouldn't hurt at this point right?
Yes, but it was 3 things Autozone stated was wrong or that could have been causing that issue Rodnequea...(after getting a diagnostic check) 1. Transmission Control Module 2. Acceleration Petal 3. Throttle Body Once they told me that I changed all three. I can't really tell you which one caused the problem but which ever one it was got the job done.

Hey I have an impala 2008 and the speedometer jumps up and down and when driving as i press on the gass it stalls and pulls when driving sometimes I also feel like i have to press the gas more then needed as if it’s pulling if that makes sense I changed the speedometer sensors/ transmission sensor .. I’ve been doing research and someone pointed out about torque converter but not sure… also ! When I took it to auto zone to scan the codes… it showed up as a code having to do with the gas tank sensor or in that nature I honestly forgot the code but will drop it in the comments when I find it anyways I bought a new gas cap. And yeah still jerks still have a vibration coming from what feels the throttle or transmission in that area of the car… any idea or thoughts on that ?
Hi, I'm not really sure on that one until I see what code it's pulling. Please provide that so I can check to see if that's something that may be causing your problem.
Hey brother that sounds like your speed sensor, it's located near the passenger wheel underneath the car. Replace that and your speed odometer will stop jumping causing your transmission to shift improperly. The transmission follows instructions from your cars speed, if the speed sensor is faulty than the transmission will shift rough
Sorry for the late response but I never had to reprogram mine. If was just plug and play. From what I was told only the stealership can reprogram it which we all know how much that may be... lol 😆
@@moatazhassan2466 if it's driving normal... let it. Once the Check Engine light displays again, run to Autozone and let them do a diagnostic check for free. What causes the P0717 code? A few common causes can result in a P0717 code, including: A faulty valve body A faulty input/turbine speed sensor One or more faulty shift solenoids A shorted, open, or otherwise damaged circuit Contaminated transmission fluid A faulty engine coolant temperature sensor What are the symptoms of the P0717 code? When the P0717 code is stored, a number of symptoms will occur: The Check Engine light will turn on. The vehicle will not shift as expected and may have hard, sudden, or delayed shifts. The fuel efficiency will suffer. The engine will seem to misfire when coming to a stop after traveling at higher speeds. The engine will stall at idle. In some rare cases, the only symptom will be the Check Engine light, but in most instances one or more of these symptoms will occur.

Car wouldn't go pass 25mph. If it only go into reverse then that sounds like a transmission issue. I know it's not what you want to hear but just being honest.
When changing the TCM for a 2006 impala3.5,does the (used) replacement part needs to be reprogrammed or just switch it out and boom or what should I do???thanks.
@jose once I replaced mine it was just "plug and play" but what you can do do test is just replace the part and test drive it to see if the vehicle is having the same issues. If the vehicle is NOT having the same issues, you're good to go. If it's IS having the same issues, either that was not your issue or it does need to be programmed.

Hey lovely, the only reason I changed it was because when I had a diagnosis done on the car, that was one of the things the computer said was MY issue was. Here's what I found online for the 2012... should be the same a 2013.. The 2012 Chevy Impala's TCM or transmission control module can be located on top of the transmission, accessible from the engine bay under hood, toward the front and passenger's side of the vehicle. To remove, use 8mm and 10mm sockets. The TCM is responsible for managing the shifting of the car using data collected from the engine's various sensors including the throttle position sensor, rotary speed sensor and coolant temperature sensor. The unit also sends OBD-II error codes to the vehicle's main computer that illuminate the "check engine" light. If the module is going bad, You will notice uneven shifting, getting stuck in gear, illuminated warning lights and a reduction in fuel economy. The cost to replace the TCM on a Chevy Impala average $550-$600 in parts and labor.

If you can hear if the dragging is coming from the back or front that would really help as that's the ones that's probably causing the issue but I would change all four just to be on the safe side and before something else gets damaged. Hope this helps bro.
Hello I'm Kelvin I would watching your video do you have to have the TCM reprogram by dealer of what
Hi Kelvin, I did not have to have mine programmed by anyone. Once it was changed it started working. Thanks 😊
Did that fix the shifting issues? I have 06 Chevy impala that won't shift out of first, but I can still drive it in 3,2 & 1. It just won't change to second gear.
No, the tcm wouldn't fix that. Sounds like you need something inside of the transmission
So changing the tcm wouldn't hurt at this point right?
was your car hesitant once you came to a complete stop? basically acted as if it didn't want to go it would move but wouldn't go as fast?
Yes, but it was 3 things Autozone stated was wrong or that could have been causing that issue Rodnequea...(after getting a diagnostic check)
1. Transmission Control Module
2. Acceleration Petal
3. Throttle Body
Once they told me that I changed all three. I can't really tell you which one caused the problem but which ever one it was got the job done.
@@martinsmoto Reduced power has to do with the throttle body or accelerator pedal not tcm module. The pedal most likely fixed it since they are a common issue for this vehicle. It's not good to believe parts sellers are technicians.

Did you figure out what it was?
Hey brother that sounds like your speed sensor, it's located near the passenger wheel underneath the car. Replace that and your speed odometer will stop jumping causing your transmission to shift improperly. The transmission follows instructions from your cars speed, if the speed sensor is faulty than the transmission will shift rough
I have a Chevy impala 06 and I was told I need to reprogram the ECM is there a way I can reach you
Sorry for the late response but I never had to reprogram mine. If was just plug and play. From what I was told only the stealership can reprogram it which we all know how much that may be... lol 😆
Also mine would drive in 1 gear Nd check engine light would come on and then the next day it would be normal again what do you think that would be??
Did you go to autozone while the light was on to see what codes came up? If not, please do, then you'll have a starting point
imdamanhommie yeah I did and the code came up for a transmission control module as well
imdamanhommie but now the car is driving normal again for the last 2 days
@@moatazhassan2466 if it's driving normal... let it. Once the Check Engine light displays again, run to Autozone and let them do a diagnostic check for free. The diagnostic check will provide them with a code. Once they put the code into their system it will show them what error the car is giving. That's the best start. Otherwise, you'll be spending hundreds of dollars trying to figure it out on your own since the transmission has so many parts attached.
It's a gm I got a 07 getting my trans replaced. Jus call OnStar in your car and get a diagnosis.
Hey can I reprogram my own car after replacing the tcm
Not sure if this is something you can do. This requires a certain set of tools and knowledge. Hi mloren, my car wouldn't go pass 20mph and my check engine light was on when I bought the car from the auction. After testing it, the symptoms were
1. Replace Break Pedal
2. Replace TCM
3. Replace Throttle Body
I bought and changed all three since I didn't know the history of the car (before I had it). Once I changed all three it ran just fine.
What causes the P0717 code?
A few common causes can result in a P0717 code, including:
A faulty valve body
A faulty input/turbine speed sensor
One or more faulty shift solenoids
A shorted, open, or otherwise damaged circuit
Contaminated transmission fluid
A faulty engine coolant temperature sensor
What are the symptoms of the P0717 code?
When the P0717 code is stored, a number of symptoms will occur:
The Check Engine light will turn on.

My transmission wont go into drive, only reverse.
Hey lovely, the only reason I changed it was because when I had a diagnosis done on the car, that was one of the things the computer said was MY issue was. If your car switch gears fine but does not move while it's in that specific gear, that may be the transmission itself. I had the same problem in another car. My car would let me put it in reverse but while in reverse it just revs like it's in neutral when the gas is pressed. If yours is doing this it might be the transmission as well but please don't just go off of what I'm saying, have it looked at by a professional. If it was stuck in a specific gear that would be different but it allows you to put it in gear but won't move. Please let new know If you have any other questions. I always answer. Good luck with everything!
