You asked for a comment so here it goes. First your review was very good. I'm not saying that to be pleasant or nice - it was thorough and well presented. It was obvious you care about the topic. Second, although I know nothing about cameras, I agree with you that this camera is not suited for your RUclips needs. The picture wasn't as clear and stable as your other videos, which is all that matters to me. I look forward to more of your reviews, your bike check video was also good. You might regret adding reviews to your repertoire, it puts more on your plate.
Great review Dale. Your presenting style has always been top shelf. For those interested in a video camera for their rides (or anything else really), I’d bet this is as good a review as any out there. While I’m not really in the market for one, I will say that I’d love you to use a camera like this to include a second perspective on rides. That would be cool. I hope Dave was ok on that fall… didn’t look too bad, but you never know.
Really enjoy this kind of review. For such a tiny camera it’s very impressive and looks really convenient. I do notice the quality and stabilization isn’t really able to keep up with the riding ;) . For quick stories on social media looks perfect though, although at that price I think you can get something better. Great stuff, Dale.
I've been looking for exactly this review. Thanks for taking the time. You answered many questions other reviews didn't. Keep it up. Subscribed here in snowy Austria.
Really good review. Though I'm amazed by the difference vs. your usual outstanding video quality. I don't know where that magic happens but your video quality is just incredible.
i definitely think this camera thrives at vertical format videos the depth and steepness of a trail is really nicely depicted and showcased in my opinion!
Great review. This is the camera everyone is using at DH cup and EWS enduro series, even the reporters from pink bike are using it. Best action camera so far!
I just got one of these in the 64GB model. I want to try mounting it under the visor of my lid. I've watched many videos on this thing and it seems people reviewing the camera for what it's not and not for what it is. It's an action camera the size of your thumb. I really liked how you addressed its strength at the end.
The 64GB version would be super nice for weekend trips without having to bring a laptop. Under visor mount is great if you can keep it pointing straight!
Hey great in depth review thanks look forward to see how you use this. I will say tho your regular videos have the clearest/sharpest POV look (not sure how to word that lol) they seem to have the highest resolution feel to them on a mtb channel. Always wonder how you get such ‘crispness’ sooo 🎶Don’t go changin’…🎶 😄
You guys are nuts for riding the Green Slime Express at speed! 😱 I like the FPV Linear combo since I can appreciate the leans on berms. I do wish for binaural mtb footages since its all about the sounds rubber on earth.
I think that the ability to switch to portait would be really useful if you want to show something else on screen, like a still image, while still keeping the riding footage on screen and the video pace flowing smoothly
To be honest, I quite liked some of the vertical shots since they showed the trail ahead better. I personally really liked the dynamism brought by changing the video orientation. As you say, that it doesn't shoot more than 1440p50 is sad (along with no expandable storage, and relatively short battery life), but as someone who has never done anything like that, it seems like a great choice! Just, on the note that hopefully there is a proper upgrade later on.
Great review. I have a GoPro 7 and it’s just so buggy. I’d say 1 in 10 videos just don’t get captured because the GoPro shuts down mid video. Gonna get one of these cameras to replace it.
... hello from Victoria BC ~ I really enjoy your vids! I first started watching MTB after breaking my wrist, tho' not bike related. LOL, it was rollerskating, or was supposed to be, before I discovered that skate wheels don't need a little push any more. Anyway, I found mountain biking videos when I looked for others who'd broken wrists (to see how they got better). Thanks for posting these so I can vicariously participate, and not injure myself in my easy chair. The best? Gnaronimoooo!!!!!!
Holy shit man, I had no idea that you could choose whatever type of video you want after the shot. This is just game changing in my opinion. I can get an action video for RUclips and a vertical for Instagram in the same footage? Ridiculous if you ask me.
Good review. I like that this camera shows steepness and elevation better than a GoPro, but unfortunately it's at the cost of resolution and frame rate. Colors are good though. The wind noise, non-expandable storage and non-replaceable battery are a deal breakers though. Definitely more suited for quick clips where sound, image quality and record times won't be much of an issue. Would love to see your thoughts on the Insta360 One R or GoPro Max.
Would love to see such in-depth review with other action-cameras such as DJI, latest GoPros or even the bigger models from Insta360 ! Maybe a quick video about your current setup and how you post process the footage could be also nice :D
